it didn’t feel good betraying leo, someone planet trusted who trusted him in return.
planet glanced at bacon, who was walking quietly besides him. in planet’s left hand was bacon’s right, clasped together for.. solidarity? (they couldn’t completely trust team awesome afterall) comfort? (it was stressful making an irreversible decision so quickly). regardless, it made planet feel just a bit more at ease that they had bacon by their side.
planet wished they had more time to talk about what team they wanted to join, to talk to leo, just to make sure that this is what the three of them really wanted.
his mind drifted to his thoughts of a cottage, where he, bacon, and jaron could live without wars, without constant bloodshed, without having to choose a side.
it wasn’t too late.
they could walk away from the deal right now and not involve themselves in the upcoming war, yet—
as the two of them walked to mapicc’s mansion, planet whispered to bacon, “are you sure sure?”
bacon looked at planet, a carefully crafted neutral expression on his face; planet knew the situation was affecting him more than he let on.
“are you?” bacon asked, turning away to look ahead where mapicc’s mansion was. in front of it, mapicc, vortex, and clutch waited. mapicc waved at them; planet felt bacon’s grip on their hand tighten.
“i think we have no choice.” planet murmured as the two walked over, body tensing. bacon said nothing, but out of the corner of his eye planet could tell he was conflicted as well.
mapicc greeted them with a smile that seemed somewhat disingenuous while vortex and clutch lingered on the mansion’s stairs, watching. “welcome!” mapicc called out to them, his mouth forming a grin.
planet squeezed bacon’s hand. bacon squeezed his hand back.
