Chapter Text
They’d taken Kacchan. They’d taken him and he had to get him back. Izuku glared at the villains in the clearing with him, wishing that just glaring would be enough to bring his friend back.
It wasn’t.
The masked villain – Compress, Dabi had called him – smirked, opening his mouth as he removed his mask to reveal two shimmering turquoise pearls sitting in his tongue.
“A basic tenant of magic. If I’m flaunting something shiny, then there’s something else I don’t want you to see.”
He snapped his fingers, and the marbles in Shouji’s hand turned back into . . . ice? Todoroki’s ice? When had he- the glacier attack! He’d used his Quirk to compress two chunks of ice into the marbles! A shimmering beam of light and energy shot from the bushes, catching a glancing blow across Compress’s cheek. The marbles went flying from his mouth, and all three of them lunged for them. Izuku’s arms sent white-hot spikes of pain shooting through his body, and he faltered. Shouji managed to grab one of the marbles, and Todoroki had almost grabbed the other, but the burned villain – Dabi – had snatched it away.
“Well isn’t that a tragedy. Poor little Shōto Todoroki.” He turned to Compress. “Prove it. Release them.”
Compress snapped his fingers, and the marbles burst open. Shouji was holding Tokoyami, who looked ruffled but unharmed. Dabi was holding Kacchan. The villain smirked, a hand wrapped around the back of his neck. He backed into the portal slowly, dragging Kacchan with him. Izuku lunged, hand outstretched.
“Kacchan, no!”
“Stay back . . . Deku!” The blond choked out as he was sucked into the mist. Izuku lunged for the portal again, but it closed on him and he thumped to the ground. He screamed as he landed on his arm, the noise as much anger and loss as it was pain. The forest shook around them, or was that him? No, no, it wasn’t him, Todoroki, Shouji and Tokoyami were all looking around too, startled.
A crack started to form in the middle of the clearing, steadily growing into a chasm. The edges crumbled inwards, disappearing into the black, and he couldn’t move fast enough to get away. The ground under him crumbled and disappeared as he tried to crawl, and he looked up at the three other boys in terror.
And then he was falling.
The last thing he saw before a chunk of dirt and rock impacted his skull was the panicked forms of Todoroki, Shouji and Tokoyami as they were pulled into the abyss as well.
And then pain, followed by nothingness.

Hello there!
Terribly sorry to have to announce this, but due to reasons (the USB I was keeping my drafts on wiping itself) I will be marking all of my current works as complete and rewriting/reworking them as I see fit until I (hopefully) have them finished and/or to a point where I am capable of continuing them without falling as far behind on updates as I have.
That said, THESE WORKS ARE NOT ABANDONED
The only works that I have abandoned have been sorted into a collection that marks them as such.
I’m sorry that I have to do this, but I am struggling under the self-imposed pressure and the dynamic shift that is graduating High School, so this is the best option for my mental health. If all goes well (praying to any deity willing to listen that I don’t jinx myself with this) I’ll be back with new (and re-worked) chapters in a few months.
