Work Text:
The bed shifted and squeaked when your body moved slightly, trying to wake you up from a pleasant dream much to your dismay. Screwing your eyes shut, you tried to fall asleep once again but the heat of your many blankets and your body downright refusing left you hopeless. Groaning as you step out of bed and your feet collide softly with the hard wooden floor below, they're cold to the touch and with every step you take it made another creak from strain, this cabin is quite the old one after all.
The cabin always gets colder in the mists of winter, peaking out of the frosted windows to see the snow piling generously across the ground and pavements, even the windows themselves were frosted to the very tips which required you to wipe away the icey fog with your warm and bare hands.
Deciding to not destroy your immune system, you put on more warm and comfortable clothing and make your way to the kitchen, getting ready to prepare a nice meal or maybe a coffee, tea or hot chocolate of some kind, you'll decide once you get there.
Once you did make it to the old kitchen you make haste in making your food and drinks, not wanting to stay out in the cold open cabin but much more wanting to go back into those warm and soft plush blankets of yours, but something catches your ears by surprise. It was the sound of what would usually be your garbage can outside but it was being clearly tampered with, mentally debating whether or not you were willing to risk what warmth you had at the moment to dispell whatever was going through your waste, you decided to bite the bullet.
Outside was absolutely freezing, truly one of the coldest parts of winter which made you start rethinking your act of bravery, but you were happy you did.
You were met with an odd sight, a man just around your age when digging through your trash with an unmet want and desire. His green hair frosted and covered in small patches of icey snow, his face red from the cold and his eyelashes showing off the same amount of frost as his hair. He was clear not wearing even a close amount of appropriate clothes for this kind of weather and you could tell he was suffering because of it, the way he shivered and breathed heavily told you all you need to know.
"Hey!" You called out to the strange man of green hair, his head peaked up quickly at the sound of your voice. "Are you alright?" You call after him once again, he only stared at you with owlish eyes, his body unmoving as he watched you carefully, awaiting your next move.
You take a small step forward, the snow biting at your as it crunched and compact against your weight. The man takes a quick move back, completely skittish and afraid. "Its okay, I won't hurt you." You say, your voice lowering to a soft and gentle whisper only the pair of you can hear, this seems to soothe him as he slowly came closer.
He was much taller than you but you could tell he walked with an obvious limp, you quickly noticed the huge wound on his right leg which causes you to softly gasp. "You're hurt..." You mumble to yourself softly, staring at the wound in shock, the man could only reply with a tight squeeze to your shoulders and and soft whimper of pain.
Grasping his waist and arms, you took him straight to your cabin with haste, immediately softly putting him down against your soft couch and lighting the fireplace near him, aiming to give him warmth. "I'm going to look at your wound, alright?" You tell him, using the same soft and kind voice as before, he nods while being hesitate at the help.
The wound wasn't too deep into his calf but it was enough to give him significant pain and trouble, with the medkit you fetched earlier you started to prepare to clean and bandage the wound. "This will sting a bit..." You say, your eyes flickering up to see his reaction only to be met with a pitiful gaze that just begged for you to help him.
First you put pressure on his leg to hopefully stop any further bleeding and you begin to clean the area to hopefully get rid of any dirt and debris he had definitely picked up in the wound, you're very surprised it's not infected. The man of green makes a loud yelp and whimper, gripping at the couch in pain, you try to soothe is pain by cooing him softly whilst drawing circles on his palms, this proves to be very effective.
After you sterilised the area, you wrap the bandages around the wound tightly enough that it wouldn't hurt or constrict him but hug his calf snuggly. You look up at him with a soft smile as you open your mouth, "You did so well, I'm so proud of you." He gives you a look that thanks you repeatedly for your kindness towards him, it makes your heart feel warm that you're helping another person.
You get up, not too quickly as to not startle the man even more whilst you grab one of your heavy duty blankets and wrapping it around him, making sure he can warm up and heal. The click of your kettle is heard as your turn it one to boil the water, "I'll make something for you to eat, alright? You can spend a few nights here until you're healed up." The man lets out a noise of acknowledgement to your sentence, staring aimlessly at the flickering lights of the crackling fire.
With some peas, carrots and some chicken flavouring and ramen blocks you had created a hefty bowl of chicken noodle soup. It was the quickest and easiest thing to make that you also enjoyed just in case he didn't find it all too pleasant.
You place the bowl in front of him on the old wooden table along with a metal spoon, "Here you go, be careful as it's a bit hot." You say, watching him shaking to pick up the fork, almost as if he's never used one before but he seems to fair quite fine using one. But with one try he was instantly hooked.
Immediately stuffing his face full of the soup at a speed that made you worry he'll choke on it, he must've been starving! His leg bounced up and down in happiness as well as he made noises of how delicious the soup was, he just couldn't get enough of it! Eventually it ran out though and he gave the bowl a look of disappointment, like his day had been completely ruined and you must admit, it was really cute.
"You really liked the soup, huh?" You giggled softly, putting your hand on his shoulder. He looks up at you with wide eyes before gasping and trying hard to cover his head, his face burning bright as you noticed what he was trying to hide despite his attempts to conseal it.
What you saw was definitely two Pokemon ears, resembling ones you'd usually find on a Zoroark or Zorua. His irises were blown wide and while they weren't completely slited, they were definitely much sharper. His teeth also gained a sharper appearance, gaining what seemed to be carnivorous canine teeth.
Trying to shrink himself, he scurried off to the farthest part of the couch away from you, snapping his jaw at you in fright and growling at the fear of what you might do to him now that you know his divine secret, he got a reaction he wasn't expecting though.
Immediately shifting into protection mode, you cooing and shush him, saying that you won't hurt him and that he was safe with you. He looks up at you with tears pricking his eyes that threaten to fall from his attractive face as you open your arms wide for him to fall into. He takes a moment of silence, debating whether or not that this would be a trap of such but deciding to take the chance and fall into your warm grasp.
"See? You're safe now." From the angle you were in you could see a burst of a tail, similar to the ones you would find on a Zorua of such. Your shirt started to feel wet with tears as you rock the shaking hybrid in your arms, humming and cooing him to a tranquil state which he'd soon fall asleep in.
While you must admit that this is a huge change of pace, you were admittedly happy that you came across such a beautiful creature. While the life out here on the cabin woods in the secluded part of this forest was really nice and peaceful you would have to admit that it was painfully lonely, you yearned for even a visitor every once in a while and it seems your wish was answered elegantly.
You were snapped from your thoughts at the feeling of the Zoroark hybird's weight weighing you down until your back was against the couch, his snores meeting your ears. You giggled softly to yourself, you suppose there no harm in having a bit of a nap so why don't you indulge?
You soon felt yourself start to drift off as well, your body completely calm and content at where it is indeed at right now, snuggled up close to a beautiful creature such as the one sleeping soundlessly on top of you. You smile as your mind slowly goes blank and you shift off into the dream world whilst cuddling your new and permant visitor.
