Levi Ackerman was not born a slave, yet the fate did not evade him. He belongs to the Reiss family and is often seen at banquets. Owning Slaves means status, and Levi always ups the Reiss family status. He is perfectly well behaved, and always does what he's told. The Reiss Family didn't beat this into him, they're holding Isabel and Furlan over his head. He would do anything to keep them safe, including carrying out their dirty work alongside of being their public slave.
Erwin Smith, an up and coming force to be reckoned with of the Survey Corps has always had a fond eye for the Reiss slave. He has never heard him speak, barely even seen his face, but the slave was alluring. When Levi is caught during an assassination for the Reiss Family, Erwin is desperate to take the slave in as his own. Completely enchanted by him.

Society Standards:
Owning Slaves is a normal part of the nobility class inside of wall Sina. Auctions are held in Wall Sina and Wall Rose while most slaves are raised in Wall Maria. It is common that slaves attend parties and social functions, even though they rarely do anything. Some slaves are focused in entertainment while others are more along the lines of body slaves. Sexual displays can often be seen at social functions for the nobility, but are often not the main focus of the event. Nudity is common as is sex. Carrying out a sexual action in public with a slave that is not part of the event is seen as improper. If there is anything to be done in public with a nobles own slave it should be done discreetly behind closed doors or with the slave under a table to not distract the other guests.
Guests of the Nobility Class can vary from military officials to potential prospects for business. The survey corps rarely has representation at social functions with the nobility aside from Shadis, Hange, Erwin, Mike and a couple more miscellaneous officers. The Military Police is seen at these more often as they are either the security or their funding was directly related to the event.

Titan Status: Titans are still a real threat outside the walls and the survey corps goes on expeditions every five months or so. There is no knowledge of titan-shifters.
