They’ve talked about children before, of course. They both want them, though they’ve never settled on how many. (Violet would be fine with two; Xaden would likely have six if she’d agree to it and he was certain her body could handle it.) It’s always seemed like a “someday” concern, though, something that they would give more thought to later.
But it seems like his subconscious, at least, is giving thought to it now. And the content of those thoughts is leaving her a little breathless, because as his gaze drags down dream-Violet's form, Xaden is suddenly ravenous.

“Don’t be contrary.” I shoot back. “If you don’t like milk, order an espresso.”
“I do like milk.” He rests his elbows on the counter, a slow smile spreading across his face as he stares across at me.
“Then order a flat white.”
“Not that much milk.” One corner of his lips ticks up in a lopsided smirk.
My eye twitches. “F—” Fuck you, is what I was going to say, but at the last minute I realise he’s still a customer and I need to remain professional…and also I don’t want to give him the satisfaction of knowing how much he irritates me.
