Chapter Text
In the morning mist before sunrise, a woman hidden in dark robes held her baby as she made her way secretly passed to the blue rifters to enter a strange land; she used her magic to find a place to leave her son, who was destined to become a lord of chaos. It has known that many who have taken the title of such were destroyed and ended by the lords of order, and sadly if her son becomes what is predicted, he will be the shame and corruption. After learning about the suspicion, her people feared the order's lords would damn them all.
So she was ordered to kill her first son… but alas, she couldn't for what cruel torture to do such to a child she just gave birth to.
So without hesitant thought, to ease her guilt of bearing a monster, to have him live amongst monsters. She, in a hurry, leaves for the world above and finds a place in the woods where his fate can be decided.
"Forgive thee, lords of order; I cannot do what must be done." She places the infant down, "so let the forest of the above lead his fate. If not," She takes out a letter. She put the note on the side of the tree and disappeared, not looking back at the child
however, when she disappeared, a man appeared, picking up the child before seeing on his chest the chaos mark.
“500 years, and you appear again.” He covers the baby before taking him away. He carries the pale small blue baby only to stop sensing someone coming, and hides the boy using the spell he was taught from an old friend. When it was done, the baby had pale skin . “I’m afraid I can’t take you with me. I had hoped this time would be different." He patted his head softly and. "Please, whatever comes your way, don't lose or fall. Keep alive and grow. Draw your own fate.” he sees no name given before remembering the previous lord.
"Klarion.” He takes him to the orphanage and leaves a letter. The older man stops but goes as he takes his weapon out. "I will come back for you one day . No matter how long it takes." He disappears into the forest as light illuminates the sky.
16 years later.
It was late in the night of Salem, as the cold wind blew across town reminding the coming of winter. It was 3 hours till midnight. Everyone was either asleep or tucked away in bed, dreaming sweet dreams or vicious nightmares. There were few awake doing what they like or finishing work.
There was a teen out in the park sneaking through the dark to hurry to a spot hardly anyone sticks around. He enjoyed most of his free time. When it was safe to step out to the light of a cresent moon, a young teen steps into the light taking off his hoodie as he shifts taking off his bag before setting up what he needed for the night. The young teen fixes his hair but some of his hair were shape of small horns that would not ever able to push down them down.
"Alright," he grins, opening his book of spells he had since he could remember.
Casting spells. "Let's see what spell I should do tonight." He smirks, flipping through till he stops. "Here we go! To open a portal from across the stars." He sets the book down and reads the spell.
Klarion, turning 17 in a week, was trying a new spell to open a portal. "According to the spell, to open a portal, one must have enough energy to open one. The bigger the energy, the bigger the portal." The young witch in training grins excitedly before taking a few steps back. Taking out a chalk made with salt, drew a hexagon and a circle within the hexagon and drew a diamond within and a small circle at the center. He in all his practice, drew the diamond at the center as he steps in the center.
"Alright, lets begin." Drawing in a deep breath, Klarion held his hand out, focusing on his energy. At first, nothing happened but centering in his mind and to his hand he felt the magic spark each time. Once he felt his energy on his hands, he began chanting away and began opening a portal.
“This is too cold! He grins before being splashed at as the creature rises and roars out, revealing to be a giant star monster!
"It worked!!" Klarion grins at his achievement but it soon falters when the creature roars to attack him.
"Oh carp!!" He summons a barrier to block the attack. "Stop!" He gasps as the creature attacks again before changing its attention to the lights.
Klarion groans before manifesting a rope out of energy and ropes it to pull the creature back. Pushing his limits, he mustered more before he was able to make a connection to the creature.
*I can send you back!* Klarion pants as the creature roars.
*You dare bring me, starro the conqueror to a mere rock! Why?!*
*I didn't think I could! I was only opening it to get a star! A rock!* Klarion hisses out. "It was not meant to go this far!" The young witch took a deep breath. "But in order to send you back, I need to concentrate!" He hisses. "I need something from you." Klarion holds his hand out before cringing when the large creature spawn a mini starro and it flew to Klarion's hand but shivered at the slimy substance.
"Don't try anything." Klarion hisses at the little creature before concentrating on the little star and using his magic again he opens the portal and opens it beneath starro.
“See you again when I need you, starro!” He shouted as he was ready to drop the small creature off with its parent but it didn't want to let go till Klarion threw it into the portal and closed it.
After seeing Starro off, he pants before falling back and grin.
"I did it… but I didn't get a star." He leans back before parking at something glowing in the water that was green. Not wanting to get wet again, he uses levitation and reels it to him and was amazed by the green gem within the rock he knew was a meteor.
"No bigger than a baseball, but its a start." He gets up and cleans up the area, leaving no trace behind. After cleaning up he then packs his things and swings his bag over his shoulder. With what energy he has, he summons a door. The young witch opens the door and enters his room, an attic of the orphanage. He stretches out his back before grabbing clothes to change into and sneaks to the bathroom to shower.
As much as he wished he could enjoy a shower, he had to make it quick. He began undressing before pausing at his forearm and unraps it revealing scars over his arm and sees the red mark, marking him as an alpha omega. He remembered that day and shook it before looking at the initials on his wrist to soothe his thoughts as he showers up quickly and hastly. When he finishes, he teleports himself out to his room and falls back on the old bed. “Spell of portals worked pretty well,” he pulls a board from the floor carefully, takes out his journal and writes in his book. Over the years, he made sure to write everything he had done and what he needed improvement about his latest spell and goes into detail using the theory his science teacher mentioned.
Klarion smiles tiredly when he sees how it was almost done. He has improved so much since he began. It was something he personally felt proud of. Klarion held the book close before frowning. No matter how much he accomplished in the field of magic, he didn't have someone to talk to but looked at his wrist.
"Hey soulmate." He pauses and whispers. Although it was in the young witch's belief, delusional, he has time to time talk to the initials. He hoped the person had their initials on his wrist could hear. "Today, I did another spell. I summoned a giant star monster. He was about 20 feet, maybe bigger." He lays on his right arm and continues. "I wish I could see you, and tell you face to face. I like to think you're intelligent. With pluck, you're probably an idiot but I will be ok with it if you're sweet. It be better if you like to cause mischief." Klarion pauses before continuing. "I'll be graduating in a few months. I wonder if you're older than me. If you are, I will be annoyed." He grumbles but yawns. "I gotta sleep but I hope I meet you. If we do meet, I really hope you have anything but plain eyes. I rather see colorful eyes that aren't like mine. They're not the best." He stops and sits up and goes to put the book back in its hiding spot, pulls out the money he made from the library. He goes to the side of his bed and opens a secret compartment. Taking out a box from it, and placing the money in it along with a few raw gems and gold he found. Taking the meteor out, he places it in the box.
“I think I got enough for a cabin in the woods and college if I stay in this town. But I want to leave this boring town.” Despite knowing he was smarter than anyone here, he needed the degrees to get what he wanted: power and freedom. “And I won't ever have to be looked down upon.” He puts the box back in the spot. Laying back down, he sighs, falling asleep.
He opens his eyes, finding himself in the same void many times.
"Great back here again like always." He sat down just as he knew nothing much happened here. He looks around before perking at a faint light.
"What do I got to lose?" He gets up to stand and walks to it. It felt like hours before he was growing annoyed and began to run to it but the more he was close, the harder it felt to breathe. Just a few feet away from the light, he began coughing and hacking. Falling to his knees, shaking as he clutches his chest. He felt tears pouring out, coughing what he saw was black liquid as he looks up to see a red glowing diamond with a orb in the middle. He feels his chest in pain, shaking before screaming. "Stop it!!"
It stopped and stood up wobbling as he saw his nails black and his skin pale blue. He looked at his wrist holding it close and pleaded in tears before feeling someone holding him close.
"You're ok, you're ok."
He shakes in fear and clings to the person before they disappear in his arms.
"Come back!" Klarion reaches out but
as he is forced to look up and nod, seeing some creep with a bell for a mask.
“You will not escape your fate,”
Klarion looked up at the one speaking.
"I will end your very existence."
The witch glares at him, all his anger towards him before he blasts at the figure.
"Fudge off!!" He shouted, his energy feeling drained. Just when he thought it was done, he felt his whole being sunk into the ground.
Trying to get out, Klarion reaches over to pull himself out but the more he resisted, the harder it got. The poor young witch was being dragged into the dark depth trying his might to get out. Just as he was willing to accept it, he felt a hand grab his hand.
Klarion was moving his weight up and coughs up what felt like water. He looks to see somebody of energy. pulled him out, but he couldn’t see as the.
"You should live for yourself."
"What-" Klarion didn't get a chance to ask when he was blind by a flash.
Klarion woke up panting and shaking in a cold sweat. Despite being in the attic, it has the thinnest wall and was the orphanage's most freezing room. Klarion sighed before speaking a spell, making a ball of light appear on his lap. He made his book appear, one recording all his dreams Before drawing what he could assume was a flash of light. he wrote about his dream, trying to figure out what it meant. For as long as he can remember, he had travel a lot in the void. Today, it felt more ominous and yet more confusing than before. Klarion sat back on his bed. He listens to the creaking wood before getting out of bed and sat by the window. He looks out, watching the pale moon setting, hinting it would be sunrise soon. Looking down, he shuffles his hand over his chest, tracing over the diamond mark over him with a black dot in the middle. He never understood what it meant, but it was something not even research has help. He did what he could but there was never any record of it. Heck he thought it was a curse! He sighed, never understanding it; just the result of it as a mere coincidence or a brand on his soul. On his right wrist was a cursive initial with a w. w on his wrist. Watching out the sky, he felt content before going back to bed, trying to think of something else before sleeping.
The only thing that eases his mind was knowingly he would be leaving this place soon and not having to deal with any trouble from this hell hole.
"And I can leave this town for good after." He mumbles in his sleep.
Somewhere off in a disclosed location.
In a ln other saw and did literal magic!! He smiles before he sees someone sitting, their back against him but was some red energy being
The ginger walks over before touchestouy before it changes and sees its head a diamond and wearing a black witch uniform that came from some dnd game.
"Did you make that star monster appear?" He asked.
"Yeah… who are you?" The diamond head asked.
"Tell me your name first?" He asked.
"Won't matter, we won't even remember this." The diamond head moves away.
"Oh really? How do you know?" The ginger was curious.
"Because this plane of existence is so vast, when we wake up it'll be a memory that won't be processed but merely dismissed from our mind."
"But It'll be there though." The ginger sat closer till he was against the barrier.
"Yeah." The diamond head answered.
"Are you an alien?" He asked.
"No, I'm a witch. Are you some energy being?" He answered.
"You don't really look it and i'm not some energy being. I'm human. Well a meta human."
The diamond head turns. "From where I am staring, you're a literal body of energy."
"And your a body with a diamond for a head."
"What?" The diamond head backs a bit before standing. The ginger watches as he sees the figure get up and touches the barrier. "I guess this barrier keeps our identity hidden. Or we're seeing what we perceive of the other."
"Like that movie Dream Warrior!"
"Yes-"
"Wait, you saw it too!?" The ginger moves forward but hits his head. He rubs it before hearing a chuckle
"Did you already forget about the barrier? You're denser than a rock." The diamond chuckles.
The ginger only rubs his head but hearing him chuckles remembers the voice. "I haven't heard you laugh since last few months ago. It's nice to hear you laugh."
The diamond head stops turning pink but then changes to blue.
"It's been a rough few months."
The ginger frowns. "Hey whatever it was, I'm sure it's nothing compared to what I did."
"What did you do?" The diamond head asked, looking at him.
"So I was running on track and field against my friends. Just when I almost make it to the end, I slipped over nothing."
The diamond head pauses before laughing.
"Over nothing?!"
The ginger smiles. "I'll have you know I was able to save my charming looks."
"Well narcissist, tell me what makes you so charming?"
"Well I'm pretty handsome. Nice red hair, and emerald eyes-"
"Are you a leprechaun?" The diamond head snickers.
"Maybe, maybe not. Are you into leprechauns?" The ginger asked. "I was born in the US and live in Central city."
"I live in Salem. Go on, say it."
The ginger perk but only grin. "Alright, I think I fell under your spell."
The diamond head froze before looking away. "That is the most hornet flirting I ever heard."
Ginger snicker before replying. "You mean corniest and says the guy who is turning pink."
"You don't even know how I look! How do you think I look?"
"Well the way you sound, cute."
"Cute?! For your information I'm an alpha!" He turns dark red.
"You sure cuz," he sniffs and perks. "You smell like rain but somehow sweet?" He leans forward his hand against the barrier.
"You're not gonna-" but the diamond head's words faded when he saw the said energy left hand go through.
On the other side, Klarion was shocked by the energy- the person's hand was able to get through. He reaches it and touches the hand feeling they were slightly bigger than his. He intertwined his hand with the guy's hand until he saw the guy pull his hand back with klarion's arm through.
The ginger perked seeing the diamond head was human but held his wrist up.
"How are you doing this?" Kalrion asked.
The ginger shrugs but couldn't help but look at the wrist to see initials.
His initials.
*W. W*
The ginger grins make sense in his mind now. "My initials are on your wrist!!" He grins.
The diamond head was shocked.
"Are you sure? That can be anyones-" but the witch brightens when he sees the energy leans over to his palm seeing there was a cut.
The ginger places a kiss over it before kissing his wrist curious about what would happen and felt a zap shocking both of them.
The ginger woke up blushing when he felt his lips tingle from the spark. He closed his eyes and remembered the guy (definitely smelled like sweet rain) had a cut on his palm but he couldn't help but try to rewind the vague memory. Trying so hard to remember that hand and what the guy said.
"Arrrrgh!!!" He falls back. All he knows is that guy lives far but not too far and smells like sweet rain.
"Annnnd…. Sounds cute when he laughs." He sighs lying back wide awake.
Meanwhile,
Klarion fell off his bed groaning, holding his wrist that was tingling seeing what he saw was static electricity on his fingertips. He tried his best but all he could think about was how the person's lips on his palm felt, a flustured red stream across his face.
"Oh carp." He covers his face. "The only thing I got from it was… sparks." He sighs tiredly.
He couldn't get any sleep after that.

Mount Justice
Wally West, aka Kid Flash, was in his room trying hard to remember that dream or whatever it was but only got blanks.
‘ It's rare to get a connection! And I met my soulmate! ’ He sighed, checking on the initial on his wrist,
K. B
Wally looks to the initials before tracing it over as if he can find all his answers in those Letters. It was quite pretty, elegant and yet had some twist in it that he couldn’t put words in. "Wonder if he's as pretty as his handwriting." He did try to focus back on K. B but all he got were vague memories that were always blurry when he tried to see his face. The speedster wondered when he could see his soulmate's face. ‘I haven’t been able to see him for a week now!'
It's been almost a week since that dream, and he hasn't gotten a chance to see him. Alas, Wally was content with just dreams knowing he can use his investigation skills… if only he could even remember all of it. Just when he was going to fall back asleep, he hisses from a loud voice.
"Wally, we're needed at the main hall! " M'gann called out through telepathy.
Wally frowns, not wanting to go but knows he has to. ' I wish I could see him.' Already quick on his toes, the speedster was already quick to get dressed and heading out
In the early dawn, young prodigals were getting ready for the morning meeting; amongst the many were eating and or talking amongst each other. In society, it is essential to keep the soul mate's initials hidden and wear an identification wristband containing a color representing status.
"So Robin (beta), any chance you know what the mission is going to be?" Aqualad (alpha) asked to see their recent new member come out of his room named Conner, a clone and an alpha-beta, grumbling away as M'gann (beta) was chatting away.
"Batman hasn't told me anything, but it can be serious. I saw him messaging the lord of fate." Robin, aka dick Grayson, was thinking and elaborating on any theories. "We might be going up against a real dangerous foe. Unlike the opposition, the light."
Aqualad hums in agreement before seeing the kid flash (alpha), yawning but already awake, walking up. Each wore either a band or a sleeve to cover their soul mate's mark; for Wally, he hid it with a special wrist brace, and dick wore gloves and Artemis (beta) brace bands for archery, etc. As they all were chatting, three Justice lords entered, along with the lord of fate and Zatanna (omega).
"Young justice, you have a new assignment," Lord Batman (alpha) stated as the lord of fate stood up, revealing the symbol of the chaos.
"There was a vision; a new host becoming the lord of chaos." They showed the previous hosts. Upon seeing they were all different and never the same but each had their mark in places mostly on their arm. "It is imperative we find the host." the lord of fate states; the young teen, Zatanna, shows a map of where the host might be residing.
Michigan
Oregon
Rhode Island
And Massachusetts
"Be aware, they might be armed and dangerous, so don't try to fight them, call for backup."
Wally however, shivered when he looked to Massachusetts.
I live in Salem.
He shivered when those words echoed in his mind
“You all will be set to go to different schools where there is more chaos residing. If you find them, do not dare to interact, call us immediately.” The Lord of Fate then disappears.
Lord Batman then hand each one a folder and wally opened his to see in big letters
Salem High Massachusetts.
“Wally you will be going with M’gann and conner. Robin, you will be in Oregon with Artemis and Zatanna. Aqualad, Rhode island with two of your friends from Atlantis.” Batman explains as he goes over the information but all Wally could think about was how lucky he was!
Lexcorp
Each opposition member, the light, talked amongst themselves, wondering what news savage had to speak about. When he entered, everyone stood quiet.
"Gentlemen, ladies," savage (alpha) stood tall. "As you know, I have worked with many lords of chaos over centuries, and many, unfortunately, have perished or had worse fates than death. The order thought they had successfully ended the chaos lord heirs. They are wrong." He shows data from a young boy.
"There is a new lord of chaos named Klarion, an orphan in Salem. I have been watching over him, and he's shown promising powers."
"What makes you believe he is the lord of chaos?" One of them (beta) spoke.
"Furthermore, he is a child; to put such responsibilities on him is no different than sending him to death. We cannot allow a child to bear such consequences." Lex (beta-alpha) stood tall. "It is bad enough we have another child, Conner, taken from us by the Justice lords and brainwashed. And now, knowing what lord fate can and will do, knowing who he is, do you want to condemn a child to his death?!"
"If we don't now, fate will find him and end his existence! This is more than just our projects! Our goal is to stop tyranny! But there must be a balance in the universe, or else everything worth protecting will be for not. I am not asking to have him join, but to protect who is the last lord of chaos. The bringer of balance against order." Savage looks amongst them deciding.
"All in favor; raise your arms." One of the Light members spoke.
Savage watched as they showed. Three agree, and three disagree.
"Brain, you have yet to say your answer." Queen bee (alpha) asked.
".... I was calculating. However, I want to know more about this child before making a choice." Brain (unknown). "If he is indeed what you say, savage, then we must know why you are persistent with bringing the boy to the Light."
"I am glad you asked," Savage revealed about Klarion.
"Although he enjoys mischief and breaking the rules, he is quite a genius in science, math, and other academic skills. In addition, although he may not look like a fighter, he does show good survival skills. According to reports, he was separated from the class on a camping field trip and lost for nearly three weeks. But by then, he came back without a scratch. And," he shows a video.
The light watches and each one was amazed or distraught by a child, capable of such power and murder.
"Do not think he is a blood deranged murder, he has no memories of the incident but has been studying magic since then. If he finds an anchor, his magic will begin to manifest. The more reason to find him before the justice lords."
"... after calculations and considerations, My vote is to find this child. Klarion is and will be a priority. Scanning his energy levels just through the recording, rivals that of the host of fate.” The brain spoke, catching others' attention.
“Is it concerning?” Queen Bee asked.
“Very much. By now, the boy must be quite powerful if he has been practicing." Brain added but they can see the Brain was thinking of ideas already.
"So we agree," Savage spoke. "I will need someone to pick him up. Adopt him if you will."
All stood quiet.
Savage rolled his eyes. Not many were parent material, much less comfortable with the idea. In his time, the Alphas and betas were more nurturing than the omegas. "Perhaps extend a scholarship, under a different name, of course."
"I can do that, but first, I wish to speak to you, Vandal." Luthor narrowed his eyes. "Privately."
Savage nodded as the rest of the members left. When there was no one, lex massaged his temples. "Vandal, why now of all time? Had you taken him in years ago, none of this would be a problem.”
Vandal looks out to the now windows as he looks out to the city. "Because it was hard already using magic to hide him. After I found him, I brought him to the orphanage. Yes, I could have taken him in as my own child, yet I couldn't with fate there searching for the boy. The boy would think of himself as a weapon rather than as a child." He then thought of his old friend before dying. "It was the previous lord's wish."
Lex could tell there were old wounds in the immortals' heart before looking out to the city. His family helped make the city until Superman came. It was no longer a world of unique minds, just a world of order. "I will make the scholarship and the school opportunity, but it must be somewhere where he can be safe and practice his magic." Lex was already texting Merci to make the documents.
Savage hums and looks across before pointing to one. "Central city, there is more control, and it will be the least likely for him to be found."
"And home to the flash clan. Are you sure?" Lex was concerned, knowing that the flash clan consisted of many meta-humans; there were too many that were willing to do the flash bidding, especially that nephew of his.
"I am certain. After we release the assignments, those so-called lords will not have the time. We will execute it well."
"I hope you're right." Lex looks up at the place. "Perhaps he can have a mentor. I have the perfect person."
"Someone in mind?" Savage asked.
"Of course. I saw his studies, and had he not been a lord of chaos, I would have taken him in for his robotics and his studies but I doubt I can be the parental care. He'll need someone who can understand him on a level and enhance his chance to survive. Someone who is good at escaping." Hinting only one person lex had in mind perfectly.
Savage shook his head. "But he is not a magician-"
"He is the master of escape and quite intelligent; out of all of us, he is craftier than Batman, the most threatening amongst the lords. Klarion will need someone to teach him where none can with the circumstances at hand. I will find a suitable teacher. For now, he will Be the boy's mentor." Lex points out, especially with the situation at hand. "And it seems the little chaos is just as good as hiding," lex pointed the band on Klarion’s right arm and the choker.
Savage raised a brow. "Are not all goths accessible to such style-"
"That collar is not ordinary Savage. That belongs from Lex corp, something superman can't see through and hides the glands pretty well, changing the scents of any type desired though it has to be a compatible one. A project I was working on but closed due for private reasons that the commissioner requested. He is hiding that he isn't an alpha. It is why I chose him to be his mentor. They think a bit alike. And two bratty people are fun to watch." Lex chuckles and is very curious how this boy stole it without anyone knowing.
"If he is, we must hurry and bring him to the light. I have seen what the lords of order can do to those that are not "by their rights unfit ." Savage ends it and leaves.
Lex sees him leave but looks at the image of the boy before calling in on an old friend.
In Gotham
A man was doing his usual work when he got a call.
"Luthor, I am in the middle of cracking an investigation." He answers.
"Nice to hear from you." Lex hears him talk before replying. "I am calling in on a favor you owe."
"What is this favor exactly lex?" The man is annoyed as he hacks into the server.
"It's more of a surprise but you are needed in Salem." Lex looks to the files. "You need to help protect a witch."
The man sighs and stops. "Can't you choose someone else?"
"No, you're the only one I can trust with this. Meet at my base." Lex hangs up and heads out to meet him at his private base.
The man sighs and types before deleting the traces and leaves and sets the bomb to go off in 2 minutes and dashes out through the window and disappeared into the night as he hears a boom in Wayne enterprise factory.
Salem 6 am
Klarion woke up before anyone as he stretched before heading to get a pair of his clothes to wear for today. He smiled tiredly but was relieved that it was his birthday today!
‘ That means I can Leave in a few days after making my last name! I can make it on my Own !” He hurried to change as he sneaked out of the room and downstairs just before the kitchen. Klarion took his book of spells out, and cast an invisibility spell over himself.
This time it needs to work . He took a deep breath before stepping into the kitchen to get a few things and slipping them into his backpack. Just as he was leaving, he freezes seeing the head mistress of the orphanage Nema Richardson (omega). He shook in fear, waiting for a shout, a hit or something but saw she was looking through him.
“Lord, it is that witch’s birthday, as if I need that.”
Klarion moves away as she walks to the cabinet.
“I can’t wait to throw him out! He has been nothing but a curse! A black stain to the town!”
Klarion just takes his bag and leaves the room.
“Who would let an abomination live.”
Klarion stops before the door, smirking and slams the kitchen door. He hears her scream and runs off before she can find him. The young witch runs in a hurry into the woods away from the orphanage as he hears her screaming out who did that. When he was ensured he was in the clear, he undoes the spell and walks to the withered old tree to find a mother cat with her nearly three months old kittens.
The only family he would ever accept were them and almost all the other animals here in the forest. He was not even afraid of the monster lurking around.
Klarion takes out the small piece of meat and knife before cutting it into small pieces for momma cat and placing them in a small sauce bowl before hearing one of her kittens mewed and nuzzled by his side.
"Teekl, lovely to see you." He picks her up and pets her carefully. He noticed she was getting black stripes now but he didn’t care, it only made her cuter. "Today is my birthday.” he pets her, hearing her mew happily. “The best part of it, I can leave! I can find a place and take you all with me. No more living in this old tree. I mean it is more homey than that ditch of a heck hole but I want to make a home for you guys." He smiles and scratches the mother's head, who mews. "And since it's getting cold, it brought you a blanket. It'll keep you safe until I can take you all with me." He places Teekl back in before he fixes the blanket inside and draws a mark to cast it, warming the mother and her kittens as the cold breeze comes in.
"I gotta go but stay in here and don't go anywhere." He smiles before leaving for school.
Walking to school felt like the only moment to feel at peace, but he shivered, someone's eyes on him. He pretended not to notice before he stopped and tied his shoes before sneaking his hand to a branch and hitting his stalker. He turned to see it was some ginger sputtering out leaves.
"The heck?! I was just making my way but couldn't help but notice your backpack." He glared.
"What about it?!" Klarion glares at him, still holding the branch threatening him.
".... It's open." The ginger answers bluntly.
Klarion raises a brow before checking it himself to find it open. He grumbles how old his backpack is and closes it, and turns to leaves. "Thank you so very much but I must be heading to school!" He waves off.
The ginger rolled his eyes before hearing a growl. He looked around to see the growl coming from the goth stomach, and hurried up by his side. "Want a granola bar?" Holding the bar out as a truce.
"What if it's poisoned?" Klarion crosses his arms as they walk but stops when the boy breaks it in half and takes a bite.
"Are you allergic to nuts?" Wally asked, handing him another bar.
At first Wally could see the scales wavering before hearing the goth's stomach again. "Even your stomach is saying, "lets eat!" When he sees the goth turn red, the goth snatched the bar. He chuckles and couldn't help but imagine the goth as a fluffy angry cat.
Klarion takes a bite and tries not to show how hungry he is.
"Thanks… I have never seen someone like you. New to town?" Klarion asked to take small bites as the ginger took big bites.
"Yeah, but just staying till December. The names Wally,"
Klarion choked as Wally patted his back.
"Easy on the bar; I got more," Wally reassures him but sees the boy snickering.
"Wally, as in Wally the woodpecker?" Klarion giggles as they make their walk.
Wally would argue with anyone about the name, but he couldn't help but grin. "I'll have you know Wally is a cool name, and I'm way cooler than a woodpecker cartoon."
"Right," Klarion giggles and finishes the bar before tossing the wrapper into a nearby bin. "Besides, Wally the woodpecker is cuter."
"So you're saying I'm cute too?" He grins before seeing the mischief gleam in the goth's eyes.
"Not even close." Klarion only giggles. "Name's Klarion." He held his hand out.
Wally took his hand but shivered from the touch. He felt his hands were cold but felt a shock through the tips of his fingers. It made him remember the moment when he got his powers, that small spark before the full force of lightning. "Klarion….?" He asked curiously what his full name was.
"Just Klarion, I don’t have a last name." Klarion answered and began walking.
It took Wally a moment to realize what could be and felt like an idiot. "I didn’t mean any harm."
"It's not something you should apologize for. Besides, it's not something to sulk about." Klarion looks ahead, not wanting to see his pity.
"Well, you're lucky. At least your last name isn't West."
Klarion stops and turns to see Wally grinning. It was the first time he saw someone that sincere in their smile
"Wally West." Klarion said it out and tried to ignore the faint tug and laughed. "Wally of the west! What a shot!"
Wally only smiles. "Yeah, I like western movies but can I not be that obvious?" He smiles, seeing the goth giggling. "You know, since you don't have a surname, you can give yourself one."
"That is correct." He grins excitedly. "But not entirely sure what it should be."
Wally, walking by the goth, held his wrist. "Maybe… Baron?"
Klarion's eyes widened, and he pulled a pen out of his pocket and wrote it. "Klarion Baron… I like it. This is the best birthday gift."
"It's your birthday today? Let's hang out together." Wally grins his wrist pulsating from the excitement.
"Only if you tell me about yourself. I don't really know you at all." Klarion fixes his scarf as they talk. "I just met you, and you did sneak up behind me."
"We were just walking- never mind." Wally looked at every detail but noticed Klarion's lips were slightly dark compared to his pale skin, thinking it was lipstick. "Well, I am athletic-"
"Wouldn't guess that." Klarion rolled his eyes looking at the ginger.
"Hey, there are brains behind this muscle. I am not just a pretty face."
"What do you study then, pretty boy?" Klarion teases, making Wally smirk a bit, his pride showing up.
"Physics and theories, I do chemistry and computers, I am quite a genius in calculus. Yeah, it can be a shocker-"
"Robotics, philosophy, physics, and a few different sciences. I work on calculus and study quantum physics, indeed a shocker." Klarion smirks.
Wally was shocked. "For real!? You know how to make robots?! That’s so cool!!"
"I know how to program one, but I'm hoping to start building one today. I even want to start a personal project." Klarion smiles in wonder if it would work to become able to hold a soul.
Wally watches him smile like a mad scientist before guessing the ideas. "Like missiles on bullies?" Wally jokes.
"Why waste my time on stuff like that." Klarion raises a brow. "I mean sure its fun torturing them, but I'm thinking bigger and.... You're going to call it ridiculous." Klarion mumbles.
"I live in Central city, and there's always a lot going on; try me." Wally wrapped an arm around him but realized he was slightly taller, remembering the person in his dream but shook it out.
Klarion gave it thought before hearing a shuffle in his backpack. He stopped and opened the bag to see his kitten "Teekl?!"
"Teekl? Is that some program-." He sees Klarion hold the kitten in his arms.
Wally watches the kitten mewing as Klarion takes off his old scarf and quickly wraps the kitten up. "I can't take teekl into school after that one silly stunt I did with frogs. I mean everyone does necromancy once in a while."
"Wait, what?" Wally raised a brow.
Klarion held Teekl close to his chest, looking to have a panic attack. "They'll take teekl away! I-I- I can't-"
"I'll take care of her." Wally held his arms, seeing the fear in Klarion's eyes. "I'm supposed to come in tomorrow anyway. I came early to walk around town. I promise I'll keep her safe." Wally watched Klarion bite his lip before taking a deep breath and doing the one thing he never did, trust someone.
"She's still a kitten, so if you give her wet food, it'll have to be only a little bit. Also, you gotta give her warm milk." Klarion carefully passes her to him. "Thank you." He smiles sincerely.
Wally only smiles, holding the wrapped-up kitten close as Klarion hears the first bell and hurries to school.
Wally watches him, but the second he hurries in, he feels a tug on his wrist. He felt it and held Teekl close.
Teekl mewls, catching Wally's attention. "Let's get you to where I'm staying and meet back with Klarion…. Bleak." Wally felt it roll in his tongue to say and grinned, mostly how klarion was not much different from his dream. He takes Teekl with him before disappearing Instantly.
Salem high
Klarion shivered as he hurried to the first period. His thoughts were all on Wally. He was different from people here. And his name- Klarion shook his head away from the possibility.
He tried to snap out of daydreaming the ginger but he couldn't help how nice he was to him.
'It's not a crush! He is a new guy that hadn't heard wind about me. The witch boy. The freak.'
He saw his usual seat tagged and ignored the slander while sitting at his desk.
"Devil's son" was written all over, but he placed his book over them, turning to the page. Klarion knew he was not accepted, but he never thought he was the son of the devil.
He wasn't that special.
I am graduating early; I can leave this heck-
"KLARION, YOU ARE NEEDED IN THE COUNSELOR'S OFFICE."
Klarion got up and took his bag with him, ignoring the whispers about Klarion getting expelled. It wasn't something he had control over; it was something he enjoyed. Sure he did necromancy, and people couldn't find evidence it was him.
'Just my tricks aren't smoke and mirrors .' He makes his way to the counselor's office and sits by, waiting to be called in; when he leans back, waiting before seeing one of the counselors, Mr. Lancer, enters and sneers.
"Morning, Mr. Lancer-"
"Can it, Klarion? If it weren't for Mrs. Reeves you'd be in juvie by now. If we're lucky, Arkham."
"It is not my fault when I was not there at the game last week."
The man pushed him back on a chair, the assistant just looked away.
"Klarion, you attract trouble! Just you here, it's trouble!" He snarls. "I wonder whoever left you, they should have just ended you."
Klarion kept calm. It wasn't the first time he heard it, and it won't be the last.
"As I said, I was working at the library that day. Even if I wasn't born, your football team would still be carp." Klarion spoke smugly.
Despite the wrong word it only pissed the coach and counselor off. He grips the teens shirt, ready to teach him a lesson. "You little-"
"Mr. Lancer."
Klarion sees Mrs. Reeves (beta, age 56) intervene, blocking the counselor from Klarion. "Need I remind you as a counselor and a coach, you are not allowed to threaten or speak ill to a student? Do I need to remind you of your incident?" She growls, showing her unwilling to let it slide. For a beta, mrs. Reeves was a force to not take so lightly. "Things have happened even before Klarion was born and they will keep going even after we're in the ground." She crosses her arms. "I will not allow you to lay your hands on Klarion. Please follow me, Klarion."
Out of everyone in his life, Klarion was kind to her as she was the only few who knew about his gift for magic. She knew Klarion needed an excellent mentor to point him in the right direction.
Preferably a beta. "Please have a seat, Klarion. I have excellent news to tell.
"Am I getting kicked out?" Klarion enters cautiously.
"Of course not!... Did you do something we should know about?" the counselor raised a brow. "You know what, now is not the time." She is the only one with patience for the boy. "Klarion, this came in for you!" She hands him a packet in a big envelope.
Klarion's eyes widened, quickly opening it to find a letter. He reads the letter to read he was accepted to a university.
"As you know, the school shows your academic tests from the SAT, and after reviewing your results, central city university, CCU, would like to give you a chance to enter with a scholarship." This is an excellent opportunity for you… just need certain conditions....”
Klarion frowns, holding his band worried. “Klarion, it is not about your A/B/O status. You just need a parent or guardianship acceptance… That is the issue. It is just,” she pauses. “Although you are an adult, by our laws here in town. However, in the central city, you need a parent or legal guardian's acceptance because the legal adult age is 19.”
“Then I won’t accept this.” klarion hisses, placing it down at her desk nicely. if it were anyone, he'd toss it at their desk. "Isn't it enough that I have the grades?"
“Klarion, you have so much potential and a bright future. Don’t give up this chance.”
“Mrs. Reeves, I was never picked by anyone, much less be wanted by this town; I can always find other opportunities-”
“Klarion,” Mrs. Reeves stood up and held the file out for him. “What if you don't get those just because of this? And by the time you turn 19, it’s too late?” She frowns before handing back the packet in his hands. “Just think it over; even being in a foster home will still secure you a better future.”
Klarion takes it, hears the bell. "Bye Mrs. Reeves." He bows lightly before he hurries to the next class, mulling it over.
‘Would being in a family be that bad?’ He paused on the idea in his mind. Behind a few more seconds, the idea was unsettling. as much as he would like for mrs. Reeves to adopt him, he wouldn't let her. She doesn't need to be treated like trash as he is. She was the only nicest person he didn't want to hurt . 'My parents left me as a baby. This town sees me as a stain; I don't have a lot of people who would accept me-’ He dodged a ball, turned to glare at the alphas, and ignored them.
"Hey witch! When did you start wearing lipstick?!" They all laugh.
Klarion just walks away. 'What a bunch of idiots. AND I HATE MAKEUP!!' He passes a window but halts, walking back to see his lips were indeed dark and wipes it hard but nothing. He growls rushing to a bathroom and washes his mouth and rinses it but it wouldn't budge.
The young witch's eyes widened, he can tell this wasn't a prank but he wished it were. 'I am just going to just think I got sick and go to the nurse's office during lunch.' He hurries into class and takes his seat. He was one of the eight students taking the course but 3 of the few willing to listen. He began taking notes when he felt something was off before daring to look away, and just across from his direction, a girl who was too perky outside the gates of school looked around.
Outside the school,
M’gann looked out to the school as Conner was with her, ignoring her. The young superboy was looking for anyone suspicious before looking at the school. He used his see-through vision but found he couldn't see one person's mark or even his insides but rather it was as if it was blocked by something. Before he could say anything, M'gann was by his side. "Conner, isn't it so pretty here?" She smiles warmly to him
"It feels nice to be in the cold." Conners answers, enjoying the cold.
"Yeah! It is especially nice to keep warm with someone special." She blushes. It's not something Martians have, a soul mate mark, but they have a way of finding a soulmate, and it's by mind connection. 'Conner may be a clone, but I know I can connect to him on a deeper level.' She saw Conner had none on his wrist, meaning she could make a special connection to him.
Conner, however, didn't think much of it as he walked away to look around, deciding to keep the guy he saw, for now, something to keep to himself.
“Weird, I can’t hear anyone's thoughts from that school or anywhere. It's like everyone has nothing to think about.”
“Well,” Dick looks around the area in the center of the town of falls, Oregon. “It is said the town’s witches laid ancient spells to keep anyone from interfering with their work. Perhaps it also works with telepathy.”
“I wouldn’t believe magic is the answer!”
“Wally!” they all spoke.
“Here me out. How can there be?” Wally leaves a pet shop as he gets Teekl a red collar and things she needed. "Maybe it's someone rebelling against the order?"
“Wally, we are not having this.” At the town park of eastwick, Aqualad sighed as the gem Zatanna gave them each to track the new host, wasn't glowing at all.
"It seems there is none here." Aqualad puts the gem away.
"You too? We got nothing." Artemis Spoke.
M'gann took out her gem but found it was cracked. "Mines got… cracked."
"What?!" Robin said shockingly.
"That may seem like we need to go to Salem. Our best clue is finding the mark of chaos depending on the arms; keep a lookout."
Wally turns off his comm and looks at Teekl, who meows away, nuzzling against his chest. He held out his gem and found it crumbled meaning he was really close to the host sometime today. His thoughts changed when teekl mews happily. "No wonder Klarion likes you." He scratches her head. "Since I can't hang around and look like a creep, let's take you to the cabin now." He grins, taking him to his uncle's private cabin outside of the town he prepared for Wally. Getting there, he whistles at the cars before seeing a motorbike. He comes in and carries teekl to give him some food from his bag and water before bathing him but notices the irregular stripes for a tabby cat but shrugs it off as he provides the kitten with a small bath.
As soon as he bathed her, he looked over the scarf, seeing it was pretty old. He saw a K that was a hand stitch. He carefully places it on the desk and goes to hack into the system of the Salem records.
“It’s not stalking if it's investigating.” Wally mumbles. He was on to finding the chaos host as he was assigned to and it would not be wasting time if he was doing a background check on his new friend. Heck he can be a meta human like him! ‘ That would be cool if he was. Maybe get him to drink that soda cyborg has been making and find out if he's a meta too. ’
"Alright, let's see… Klarion…" he looks through the notes and files he found from the orphanage record. There were a lot klarion like doing hobbies.
"Wow, you are good at stitching and knitting…." As he kept looking through, he found some simple details about him. "Has good basic cooking skills and perfect grades. But has a record of pulling stunts and pranks.” He smiles seeing he was mischievous and thought how much they could have fun together. “He loves animals, mostly cats." He mumbles, seeing images of Klarion over the ages but sees he always forces a smile when taken a picture.
Thinking of the grin or smile Klarion made in front of him, Wally could not help but admire the goth smile only he got to see. Just as Wally thought he saw all the files, he found one hidden and encrypted.
"… hello." The speedster found a private file hidden among files. He, of course, hacks into it and sees that klarion is under "witch" and has a hobby for "Magic." "He has a thing for magic-" he stops, sees a video, and plays it.
_______warning_______
At first, it shows that klarion was smaller, maybe eight or so, and he was in a room playing when kids threw him in a closet, and he cried out. Wally frowns seeing this and wants the names of those who did that but pales when a man comes in after the kids run off.
Wally watches and growls, clenching his hand so hard, he's bleeding. Watching, he shuddered as he saw the man grip Klarion's shirt and toss him before stepping over his chest. Wally watches as Klarion cries for help but nothing.
no one came.
Wally watches as the little klarion eyes turn red and scleras goes black and sees these intricate lines on his face. He sees the man held in the air, begging for his life before popping like a balloon, everything everywhere. That's when Klarion passes out. He reads the notes learning they never reported it and didn't even show a record if klarion was ok or not. The speedster only saw there were two copies of this recording.
_____________end of it______________
"So Klarion has… powerful gifts…." He then notices on the record there was detail that there were more detail hidden about Klarion.
"Alpha-omega." Continuing his investigation, he saw photos titled "anatomy". He opened one of them, and the first thing he found was his chest, in its glory, the symbol of chaos. Next, he looked to see his initials on Klarion's wrist but frowns seeing his forearm was scarred up.
"This had to be my luck…." He groans, dropping his head to the table. Just when the speed demon was happy to find Klarion pretty cute and a genius. He was even ok with Klarion exploding people and doing magic!!
Wally was trying to wrap his head around this. "Sure, he's an alpha- omega who sets people popping like a balloon and probably other stuff. I am fine with that! Hell, magic is ok with me!!! But the lord of chaos!?!" He leans back, "lord of fate said he needed to stop the next lord of chaos." He pushes away from the computer and looks to teekl. He then thinks of Klarion and how sweet he is. 'He isn't evil. Mischievous, yeah, and a little quirky to sass. He has a temper, but he isn't hellbent on killing people!' He leans against the desk. ' He's just a teenager taking care of a little kitty. '
Wally sighs, just when he found his soulmate, his goth has the power to bring out chaos. He knows he has to do what's right, but he doesn't have the heart to expose klarion. ".... If I can get Klarion to join us… then lord of fate won't have to imprison him." He looks at the private file and copies it before deleting it off the record. He then thought about the last name before searching for it on the town's record. He did find a bleak… but they were cast off 100 years ago.
" 'Some settlers who were learning magic had a feud between one another… the witches decided they would leave to be hidden away, never to be part of the nonbelievers. Some were burned or hanged after being found out.' " He winces, thinking about the last words Klarion said about a project.
You're going to call it ridiculous.
"Well, not after seeing it myself." He frowned before seeing a picture of the Bleak family and saw the man looked similar to Klarion, only older and tired.
"So if they were cast off to who knows where, how was Klarion brought here?" He then looked over the report, finding a child left alone on the steps of an orphanage.
"Abandoned" was the title, but Wally could tell they branded Klarion with that title.
They never even tried giving him a last name!
"I'm assuming they don't even care about him." He leans back, glaring at the word before grabbing the first thing off the desk, holding onto it to keep him from going kid flash to destroy the town. He held the worn-down scarf and sighed into the scent. Klarion had an alpha musk, which was covering his omega scent. The omega scent smelled like sweets and rain and the alpha musk was of brimstone; somehow, it smelled good together. It drove his senses, making him want to find Klarion- He stopped himself. Cooling his mind, he tried to think of anything but the goth. "Cool your jets. You're barely his friend." He mumbles. "You'll only scare him off."
Getting up to take a shower to cool his body off, wally knew he would be ok after a cold shower.
After an hour, he came out. "That took longer than I thought…." He groans, flopping on his bed and looking at the sleeping kitten on the pillow. He lies back, thinking about Klarion and how he was either good at hiding his feelings or hasn't figured it out. "I think he's more oblivious that he hadn't taken notice." He hums, collecting all he learned about Klarion from here and his dreams. "As far as I remember, being both alpha and omega can dislodge the tug, depending on the personality. And… being the embodiment of chaos, I'm going to guess it's like being pulled to all directions, but that's if he knows." He mumbles that part. "So he won't feel the tug unless he gets closer to me. He just might if he got to know me better." He shifts to look at Teekl waking up and meowing for food.
"Me too; since it's pretty early to pick him up, how about we get something to eat together." He picks up the kitten and sees her looking back to the forest. Wally could tell she wanted to go with Klarion.
"I like him too. Put in a good word for me?" He pets her head and scratches her ear, earning a purr. He looks back to the computer, hoping Dick wouldn't put it against him for destroying evidence.
"I don't want them to find out just yet." He mumbles before securing the files. He goes to the kitchen, finds it packed, and thinks about Klarion’s skills in cooking. "Maybe he cooks sometimes when it's him with the other kids." His smile faltered, thinking about the recording. He even saw what he hid under his sleeves. "Just how much will he be willing to talk about that?"
Teekl meows lounging on the chair.
"Yeah, I didn't think so either." He gets a small bowl for her and fills a small amount of milk. He places it next to her before he makes himself a giant sandwich. He then wondered about something, making the hair on his neck stand up. "Who has the other copy?" His mind went to the light, the rebels that swore to stop the lords of justice. "They're the bad guys. It's because of my Uncle and the other heroes. We have peace." he said, but then that incident superman did was a bit too much. "Superman did destroy a planet with what he said were invaders, but it was for a good reason." he paused. "Right?" He stopped but shook it away. "Right." He ate his sandwich, but he still had some doubts. “But I was already going to go and rip this town to the ground for the wrong they did to him. That’s reasonable to me.”
After he finished, Wally decided to look around the cabin and the area before walking into the woods to stretch his legs. As he ran, he tried not to use his energy as much before returning to the cabin to find teekl waiting for him.
He gets a call from Dick, finding something in the south of the forest in Salem when the boy wonder and the others just arrived.
"Alright, be there soon." He sighs, hurrying to change but shocked they got here so quickly.
It didn't take long until Wally made it, and they saw it was a nearly half-empty lake.
Dick looked around for shoe traces, but it seemed like he couldn't find any at all.
"What did you find?" Artemis asked, having Conner And M'gann behind her.
"Nothing; whoever did this has a knack for hiding their tracks. Zatanna is with the lord of fate to figure out how to find the chaos host." Dick puts his tools away. "Aqualad went into the lake."
"Nothing!" Aqualad steps out, looking defeated. "The only way we can find this lord of chaos is finding the mark but to do that we will need to search through the data entry."
"I'll look into the system. For now, see if you can find any information." Dick makes his way out as the others go.
Artemis however stops to look at Wally, a small blush across her cheeks. “Wanna join us? We’re getting something to eat.”
Wally shook his head before disappearing and making his way to the cabin.
Artemis seeing him disappear looked to her wrist finding nothing but looks to where Willy went before joining the team.
"I'm sure Wally will come around." M'gann smiles.
"Maybe. I can share the same classes together at school tomorrow, that way I can get closer to him." Artemis knows it's common to date those with sm marks and even marry one, she felt she clicked with Wally.
"How are you with Conner?" The pupil of the green arrow asked.
"Wonderful! I think I'm warming up to him!!" She shuddered at the cold. "But it's a bit colder here."
Artemis nodded and took note of the weather in salem. It was cold but had some old fashion style that made it nice to live here. However, all thoughts were on the speedster. A month ago she tried her best to get the speedsters' attention but nothing got his attention. She did catch him looking at his wrist from time to time but when she would ask he hid it from her. For now, she could hope to win him away.
cabin
Wally closes the door shut before shaking off the dread from lying from his friends but warms up when he feels teekl rub against his leg and kneels to her.
"It's almost time to go. Ready to surprise Klarion?" Wally scratches her head but did think of one thing to do before leaving. Holding teekl, he heads to his room, grabbing his favorite scarf out of his bag. It was a black and indigo striped being his favorite color. "It's not handmade, but it's pretty special." before stepping out and going in top speed to meet klarion up.

Chapter Text
Salem high 2:48pm
It was near the end of last period and it was in an orchestra class (Mrs. Reeves suggested) and it was not as bad but the instrument Klarion chose was the viola for there weren't many music notes. As part of Thursday, there was an unnecessary test at which Klarion was able to finish up his test. The teacher made a check before letting klarion leave early. The downside was this class was nearly at the football field but closer to entrance. Klarion makes his way to the entrance when he's halted by the jocks.
He ignored them and passed through but was pulled back by an arm and slammed against a wall. Klarion glares at them seeing it was 3 against 1.
"I don't have time for this." he crosses his arms.
"We heard the witch boy was seen with a guy in the morning." the blonde one (John???) smirks down at him.
Klarion could smell their exposed musk, it was putrid and disgusting. He covered his nose. "Why is that any of your concern?" the young witch glared down at him.
The blonde of the group draws near him. "So is the witch offering himself up for free?"
Klarion growls, kicking him hard where the sun doesn't shine before pushing the others off. Just as one of them was about to grab him they froze, feeling a sharp calligraphy pen was too close to their glands "None of you get to touch me. None of you are worth my time." Klarion narrows his eyes down. "And it's none of your business!" His eyes glowed a dull red and made a move to leave but dodged a punch but got hit in the stomach by the other bully and coughed away. He tries to catch his breath only for the two guys to grab his arms.
"You little bitch!" He reels his arm back but struggles when it doesn't launch.
Klarion looked up to some guy who looked like the super lord, held the arm before pulling the jock off and punching the other two.
"Get lost." The guy growls at them emanating his dominance.
Klarion covers his face with his coat when he sees the jocks choke and run off. The said dark and gloomy guy looks at him. "I need to speak to you."
Klarion shook it off. The perks of being a non active is that any type doesn’t trigger him. It only repulses him. "And I need to leave." He dust himself off. Just as he made the turn to leave he was stopped but didn't notice he shocked him.
Conner was a bit shocked by whatever that was but looked at the slightly short goth. "Look, I don't care what Steak you have with me.” Klarion stood his ground, his eyes darken and glowed a bit red. The young witch goes to leave but that look alike wouldn't budge.
Connor looked at the goth who shocked him. Although there was not much to feel threatened by the goth, he used powers that made him flinch. He could even smell something different but his focus was on the arm. "Show me your arm." Conner stated.
"And if I don't?" Klarion crossed his arms.
"I was not asking." He stared down to look terrifying, but the goth was unfazed but rather showed he was not backing down.
"I am not going to do what you want. I don't like to be told what to do. Especially from any alpha." Klarion growls.
Conner steel eyes glare for a few minutes before backing away a bit. He frowns slightly knowing it was not getting anywhere. "I'm not good with people, much less seen as one."
Klarion relaxed a little but kept his arms crossed. "I can understand that pretty well. Look," he stops for a bit before looking around, not wanting attention. Luckily no one was around. "My scars are not something I'm proud of."
"Why?" Conner asked confused
Klarion leans back against the wall a bit, showing he was not uncomfortable but kept his defense up. "I'm called a freak here, I don’t like others seeing what my arm looks like after getting burned." Holding his right arm.
"Are you a meta?" Conner asked.
Klarion only chuckles. "I wish that's the reason. I am not going to show you my arm. It's personal and that’s final." He then hears the bell ringing and groans. "I gotta go, nice meeting you but I gotta be like a tomato and split."
"You mean banana," Conner said bluntly.
"You know what I meant!" He ran off, not looking back.
Conner only followed, ignoring the people around him, his focus was catching up to the goth.
When Klarion got out just as every teen was leaving the school grounds. The young witch looked around and smiled to see Wally across the street under a mulberry tree but beamed to see teekl in his hands.
"Teekl!" Klarion makes a run before stopping just before Wally and hugs the kitty and sees her more fluffy than earlier.
"I gave her a bath and fed her but I ended up forgetting to feed myself. Wanna grab a bite?" Wally grins. it wasn't a total lie, he was hungry after all that running. Just as he was going to lead Klarion away before seeing Conner walking up.
Klarion perked but merely dismissed him as non threatening. "I just met him. He helped me in a slim spot." Klarion hugs the kitten close as Conner looks at the small kitten.
"you mean tight spot.” Conner corrected him.
"Conner what were you doing at the school, you know we're not supposed to be here until tomorrow. You could have gotten in trouble." Wally scolded him but he felt a bit angry seeing he was around Klarion. He shook his head before reminding himself Conner doesn’t know about Klarion.
Hopefully
"You two know each other?" Klarion raised a brow petting Teekl.
"This is Conner, he's my cousin." Wally answered but can tell the goth didn't believe.
"I'm related by marriage." Conner added.
"That makes better sense." Klarion pets teekl who mews away.
"Can I pet her?" Conner asked
"Sure." Klarion holds Teekl out to him but just as Conner reaches out cautiously. He was a mere inch away when M'gann jumped in gushing.
"AWWW such a cutey!!!" M'gann reaches with no thought at the kitten… and Teekl scratches her harshly.
Klarion held Teekl protectively and glared at the ginger girl.
"Ouch! What was that for?!" M'gann glares.
Klarion growls at her. "She's just a little, you don't crowd her you big bully." Klarion hisses.
"How can I crowd her when it's just me and Conner." She tried to read his mind but nothing.
"You practically lunged toward her! It's only natural that animals react when provoked." Klarion hisses.
"Animals are kind to me-"
"Guess not all of them." Klarion glared as Teekl hisses at her.
"Klarion!" Klarion reels back when he sees his English teacher, Mr. Harper, walk over. "What did the school say about bringing a-"
"She's my kitten!" Wally blurted standing in front of Klarion and held her to show it was true. "I'm new here and I was just looking around to find my way around. That was when my kitty, Teekl, ran off. Thanks to this guy who saved her, she almost got hurt. You have no idea how important she is to me." He pets her and teekl only mews happily.
Mr. Harper straightened and cleared his throat but M'gann raised a brow.
"But he- mmph!"
Conner covered her mouth. "I'm sorry about my friend and I. She forgets we are in a new place." Conner spoke calmly and m'gann looked down and pulled away.
"I'm terribly sorry." The young Martian spoke and looked away.
Mr. Harper only waved it off. "Young lady, you shouldn't apologize for an accident. Klarion, you should apologize for being rude to the young lady-" The teacher stopped to find that boy gone and. "That brat!" And leaves to go after him.
M'gann looks around and in relief that the jerk is gone. "We better get going. Conner, let's go see those stores, please?" She bats her eyes but Conner shakes his head. "I'm going to help Wally find this kitten's owner you scared off."
M'gann frowns before smiling brightly. "Then I'll see you after!" When she was gone Connor Looked to the tree.
"She's gone." Conner spoke calmly.
"I know-!" Wally yelps when Klarion jumps down holding teekl now. "Thanks. I didn't want to deal with the teacher. I'll deal with it tomorrow." Klarion takes Teekl in his arms and holds her protectively.
Wally was surprised but he wondered how he got time to climb to the top of the tree
"How did you get up there pretty quick?" Conner asked.
"Haven't you heard, a magician never reveals his secrets." Klarion pets Teekl.
'Right, magic .' Wally only smiles petting Teekl. “I like to learn from you. That's pretty cool.”
Klarion stiffened a bit, feeling his stomach turn differently before looking to Conner who was watching Teekl. He held her out for him to pet.
Conner smiles, a small one, pets her and sees her meowing and purring.
"You know, Teekl has siblings if you want to see them." Klarion only smiles softly.
Conner nodded. "I would like that."
"Mind a detour?" Klarion looks at Wally who only gave a smile.
"I won't mind if you show us around a bit and get something to eat." Wally smiles.
Klarion maps it out in his head. "There's a burger joint on the way."
Wally grins and takes Klarion with his arm linked and both hurry off with Conner behind, watching them.
Klarion shows them around until they come up to the only burger joint, the coven, and Klarion passes (hesitated a few times) to Conner as both ginger and dark onyx haired teens walk in to get their orders.
Klarion ordered a large chicken tender meal and an order of fish to go as Wally ordered 8 burgers for him and Conner. Klarion insisted he pay his own but Wally already paid for it. Just as Wally paid, Klarion ordered four fries and drinks.
"I don't mind buying." Wally insisted as Klarion shrugs it off, "It's fine, besides you can't have burgers without fries or a drink," Klarion stated. "And by the looks of it, might not be enough."
"So you don't mind if I eat a lot?" Wally asked curiously. Comparing body masses, klarion was slimmer than him.
"I may not look like it, but I do eat a lot. I have to do extra work at the library. I even have to when I do some overtime on my projects." Klarion saw they had his favorite drink, ginger ale as Wally got his and Conner's drinks.
"What kind of projects?"
Klarion was quiet as he moved to the side. "You'll laugh."
"I won't judge. Scouts honor." Wally held his hand up.
"Are you even a scout?" Klarion leans back on the side by the wall, away from the eyes of everyone before wally shield him away.
"Not for a long time but it counts." Wally winks.
Klarion looked skeptical but looking and Wally seemed nice, pulled him closer before showing a small orb of power.
"Magic." He shows him and Wally touches it and smiles. It felt like a heartbeat and felt so warm.
"Beautiful." He smiles and feels Klarion relinquish it and hide the flustered look.
The young witch pulls away, a red blush across his face. He was not used to compliments. "It's ok-ish, I could show you more sometime this week."
"Any chance you can teach me?" Wally asks and can see Klarion excited through his eyes. "Really?! I mean I'm still learning but I be happy to-"
"Wally!"
Wally turns and sees Artemis walk up and grabs his arm.
Klarion stiffened a bit but looked away thinking that's his girlfriend and drank his cup. Somehow his drink tasted bitter in his mouth.
Wally however pulls away from Artemis. "Klarion, this is my friend Artemis. Artemis, this is Klarion."
Klarion was not willing to play along to be nice. He could already see her judging him but looking at Wally…. He merely waved and ignored her after.
"Real charmer." Artemis rolls her eyes. "Hey we found a nice spot with other kids that are from the school, wanna join?"
Klarion rolls his eyes seeing her already wrapping her arm around Wally's like a viper. He looks away and tried not to look as annoyed-
"No thanks."
Klarion looks slightly at Wally before darting his eyes away. 'Not like I care. We barely met.'
"He can join too." Artemis tugs Wally but he relents.
"Conner and I are joining Klarion to see his kittens and hang out in the forest."
"Then would you mind if we come too?" Artemis asked klarion nicely.
"No." Klarion gave no care to look at her reaction.
Artemis raises a brow and glares. "Why not? Think we'll ruin your fun?" Artemis crosses her arms.
"There's a monster in the forest and it hates crowds." He drinks his soda before thinking of refilling it soon.
Artemis glares looking for any signs of the goth lying. "You can't believe there's a monster."
"What would I gain from Lying? If you want to go there, be my guest but I'm not gonna risk my life cuz of you." Klarion glares before hearing his order number. He gets his order, refills his drink and goes outside sitting with Conner.
Wally watched as Klarion asked Conner something before walking away into a meat market across from the joint.
"I wouldn't be shocked he's the lord of chaos." Artemis crosses her arms.
"He isn't." Wally stated and showed her his gem showing it wasn't glowing.
Artemis shook her head before seeing Klarion bring back two bags of meat but saw Conner was helping him as they talk.
Wally waiting for his order, watched Conner who wasn't a fan of talking, pretty open with klarion. The speedster then tense a bit when Klarion smiles before grabbing his bag, pulling a flier and said something that made conner grin. Wally couldn't help but feel angry at how easy it was for Conner to talk to Klarion.
Artemis, was too, watching Conner and that jerk talk together It only made sense for someone who seemed to push himself as an outcast, talking to Conner. As much as she hoped M'gann and Conner would be a thing, seeing Klarion talk to Conner made her happy.
"They look nice together, hanging out." She smiles hoping wally would agree to joining with her instead. "Hey, wouldn't be shocked if that guy has a thing for Conner." She turns to Wally, who was already getting his order.
"See you at school tomorrow!" Wally shouted and was already out the door and saw Klarion talking to Conner.
"What were you two talking about?" Wally asked curiously, seeing Klarion holding two bags of meat.
"We were talking about your gifts to that monster in the forest. Conner was interested in a place he can relax so I told him about the library's 2nd floor of poetry reading they have . It's mostly deserted because they have the town's history but it has a good view of the woods." Klarion got up ready to go whereas Wally was a bit put off.
"So the meat for that monster?" Wally trying to shake off his possessiveness but he couldn't seem to get rid of it.
"I know it sounds silly but trust me, it's better you offer something not get hunted
To Wally, it felt like he was in a horror film moment. But looking to the hopeful goth, Wally took a bag as Klarion took his bag of burgers with teekl perched herself over Klarion's shoulders as he hands Conner his own and takes the other bag of food.
Took 15 minutes till they got to the entrance of the forest and Klarion showed them where to set it up. Klarion pulled out a small pocket knife from his backpack.
“Are we doing some kind of blood oath?” Wally asks cautiously.
"What? No." Klarion finds pieces of wood and hands each one a piece. "Gotta carve your initials on the piece of wood. Think of it as telling who it is from. That way it won't attack you." He hands it to wally who carved it pretty quickly and showed Klarion. "Just write your initials
Klarion shuddered to see it was the same cursive as on his wrist. He dismissed for now as he took the knife and gave it to Conner. Conner already wrote his initials but instead showed some unfamiliar symbols.
"It's a special thing my family made up."
Klarion shrugs it before taking it back and putting it away. "You're good to go."
"So what kind of monster is it?" Wally asked curiously when they entered, following klarion.
"It's hard to say but all I know is that it's been around me since I was a kid. One day I got lost from the class. I was scared for a bit till it found me. I thought it was gonna eat me but it protected me. That was after sharing whatever food I had left." Klarion smiles at the memory. "It helped me survive before I had to go back, which Ithink was 3 weeks I was with it. I think it found me because of this." Klarion showed his palm with a thin scar. "But gotta admit, I wasn't much of a talker then."
Wally sees the scar remembering that dream. Before he can ask any more questions, Klarion puts a hand over his mouth as he pointed across and they see the monster.
Wally was shocked to see it was no ordinary monster. It was one of those creatures from the underground. Klarion led them away as it was leaving.
Wally and Conner were shocked.
"So long as you guys respect the forest, it won't attack you. Also don't look it in the eye." Klarion said cautiously.
Both Wally and Conner looked to each other before following and found the old tree and in it were the kittens and the mother.
Klarion takes out the small container of salmon and gives it to the mother but calms her when she hisses to the new strangers. The young witch carefully held out a white kitten who was a biter and handed him to Conner. "He's a bit of a biter."
The second Conner held the kitten, the little furball bit his finger. Conner didn't mind, only smiled before petting him.
Klarion watches before looking to the mother cat mews and Klarion hesitated but added. "If you like you can… keep him?"
Conner perked and smiled nodding. "Thank you. Can I name him?" He asked and saw the goth nodded. "... Titan." Conner smiles seeing Titan bite him softly.
Wally smiles as he sees Conner holding the kitty before feeling a tug to see Klarion was looking away but look at him again.
"Would you like to adopt one? If not, they're all mine." Klarion sat with him by a large old withered root of the tree.
"As nice as it would be," he scratches teekl little head. "But I think someone might get jealous." He teases.
"Teekl is mine." Klarion was possessive but sees teekl nuzzles Wally's leg.
"Traitor." The young witch crosses his arms.
Wally laughs and moves Teekl to Klarion on his lap. "That was a nice thing you did." Wally added.
Klarion merely shrugged at it. "He helped me with a small problem. I will say he was even nice when your other friend wasn't."
"Who M'gann? She is nice. She can be a bit…"
"Single minded." Klarion pointed out while grabbing a drink from the cup holder but accidentally drinks from Wally's. He perked to taste 7 up and pulled away. "Sorry about that."
Wally shrugs before he drinks it.
"That's unsanitary." Klarion grabs his cup and sees Wally shrugs it off.
"I doubt you're sick. About M'gann, she is more…. Oblivious." Wally cleared it but could tell Klarion was quiet about something. "Something on your mind?"
"Just…. School stuff." The goth answers taking a frie from his meal as Wally sat with him eating.
"That says it all. I'm sure it'll work out." He smiles but sees Klarion was thinking about something else.
Wally sat with him wondering what can change the mood before grinning. "So, we co parent teekl."
Klarion turned to him, taking him out of his thoughts. "What do you mean?"
Wally got a bit closer. "Well, since we both literally adopted Teekl and her siblings, it's a big responsibility so it's easier having two than one. I'm staying at this cabin till the end of December but I can keep them there and you can come and hang out-"
"Do you live in that cabin outside of town?" Klarion asked, worried it was the same one he was eyeing. .
"I'm gonna guess you had your eye on it." Wally frowns as Klarion nodded.
"It's fine, I can still find another place." Klarion placed his head on his arms.
"Maybe we can share the cabin. That way you can keep it when I go. Plus when I come back from the central city, and I am coming back, I'd like to know you're there, safe." Wally smiles.
Klarion thought about it but then looked to Wally who was more happy about it than him.
"Plus we're both alphas right? That way you won't have to worry too much." Wally didn't want to tell him he knew but the thought of hearing Klarion telling him brought his hopes up.
Klarion paused but nodded. "Yeah."
Conner, watching, could tell Klarion was hiding something but kept quiet.
"Sure but let's talk about that tomorrow." Klarion insisted but felt a heavy weight whether telling Wally if he agreed to it.
Wally nodded but internally hoped he chose to stay with him. During the time they ate together and talked, Klarion telling them what was around for school.
Conner played with his kitten but watched Wally and Klarion talk as they ate and although Wally ate more, Klarion was not disappointed. Conner can see Wally was falling hard for the goth as he kept quiet.
They cleaned their area up and saw it was close to 4 and it was close to sunset. Wally picks up the bag of trash as Klarion picks up teekl. The speedster was watching Klarion move before he shook the feelings away. "Let's get going, I can walk you back-" he feels Teekl in his arms and Klarion looks down.
"I prefer you don't. I will see you guys tomorrow." Klarion had unreadable eyes before trying to smile at them both. "If you keep going that way following the river up, you'll get to the cabin quickly."
Wally didn't want to agree but not before wrapping his scarf around Klarion's neck. He smiles seeing Klarion not rejecting his gift. "Keep this with you at least. Your scarf was shredded by a certain kitten." He sees teekl mewing away. "And here's my number.'' He takes the pen out of his pocket and looks for something to write on only for klarion to hold out his left arm. Wally takes hold of the arm and writes his number there by the wrist. "Give me a call and I'll be there."
"Thanks. I better get going." Klarion kneels down for his bag while Wally holds Teekl.
"Yeah. Hey Conner, help me carry the-" he sees Conner already holding all the kitten's on his arms. Wally holds Teekl and the mom as Klarion gets up and kisses Teekl on the head. "I'll see you tomorrow."
Teekl mews and licks his nose.
Wally watches Klarion smile at Teekl before hurrying off to the orphanage direction.
"He's pretty nice." Conner stated.
"Yeah. He's pretty cool." Wally smiles as they head to his cabin but he felt worried about Klarion. He couldn't help but feel anxious.
As if dread was coming from that direction Klarion was heading to

Chapter Text
Klarion took a deep breath breathing in Wally's scarf and it smelled nice. The first thoughts that came to him was of a thunderstorm and how calming it was. As far as he remembers, thunderstorms were a sense of calm to him in any situation he came across. Chaotic yet soothing too to hear and watch. He takes off to climb on the side to his attic window and sneaks in. The first thing he did was hide the scarf away. He hurried keeping the scarf safe and saw nothing was out of place, meaning that hag didn't come into his room. Just when he was relieved, he heard the door slam open and stood firm as the owner of the orphanage seething at klarion.
—-—----------warning—---------------
"Klarion, today I had the strangest morning." She sneers walking forward toward Klarion. "Someone stole food and a knife and slammed the door just as I was making my morning drink. Do you know anything about it?"
"No I don't know. I left school early."
SLAP
Klarion was smacked in the face hard, but he didn't let her see his reaction. All he could do was hope that was just it. This woman has hurt him in the form of leaving parts of him black and blue but as many times he healed himself, he couldn't heal from the trauma she left him with.
"Liar. You left and took some food with you."
"You know I go to school-"
She slaps him again, only there was more force in it. This made klarion fall back a bit before she grabs his face, her nails piercing his skin.
"You think you can lie your way to me? Need I remind you that if not for me, you would be dead." She growls before smacking the same side again.
Klarion tried to pull away but she wouldn't let go. He struggles as she slams him to the wall.
Klarion merely stood and wiped the blood from the busted lip. He stiffed when she got closer, smelling her scent, he looked away, disgusted from the putrid smell and her attempt to make him cower.
When she saw his reaction she merely chuckled. "Klarion, you're a freak! Has anyone truly known you're an alpha and omega? A disgusting thing that can't even have a natural heat like anyone." She grabs him by the hair harshly before throwing him down to the floor.
Klarion can block the words but it was hard not to ignore that flaw in him. Those that don't have a natural keen to respond to scents, much less have a heat cycle, were seen as infertile or a lack of genetics. It was although lucky he wasn't affected by anyone nor influenced, but it was harder to be accepted.
He got up resisting to use his magic, he didn't want to be taken in for murder.
Kill her.
He shook hearing the thoughts.
Make her beg.
He shook, not daring to look up in fear he'd do just that. He tried to ignore those voices; he kept hearing them until he was able to zone them all out but shook, feeling ready to puke when two new scents came in. He looks up to see two men walk in. Klarion felt his instincts screaming to run but his legs wouldn't move. His heart was beating hard and fear was pouring in his gut as he saw them step closer. He shook as he saw in their eyes promise of pain and fear but he felt something else there.
"Klarion is in need of discipline again." Nema smirks as Klarion backs away. "Do remember, anywhere but the face. He is going to be leaving soon~" Klarion felt his nails extend out but resisted to use his magic in fear of going out of control. He was already thinking of making a run to the window.
"Since he is an adult, show him the proper ways of being an omega to an alpha." She moves to the side as the two men smirk drawing near to the young goth.
Klarion stood there glaring at them and just when they were about to grab him, someone came in a rush.
----------------warning end---------
"Someone wants to speak to Klarion Nema!!" A worker stated.
Nema growls, stopping them. "Lock him up!" And leaves as the two men following her.
Klarion waited a bit before his legs gave out and shook in fear. He drags himself away to the wall and curls to a ball reaching for the scarf as the only comfort he has. He took a deep breath calming his nerves but hissed at the feeling of the burning sensation on his cheek, pulsating. Just when he was about to heal it, Klarion heard voices and one he didn’t recognize, waited and reached for his knife in his bag. "Klarion isn't exactly the best in personality-"
"I would like to meet him."
Klarion paused hearing what he heard, someone Nema didn't want coming in. He puts his knife back just as the door opens. He sees Nema behind trying to stop him but it was too late.
"Klarion, meet Mr. Napier." Nema spoke as she walked over to "help" Klarion's up, her nails stabbing his arms. It would have hurt him if he wasn't used to it.
In Klarion's eyes, the man has a slim but hardened face. His brown eyes were dark as his hair, but he felt something different, something… chaotic in the man that wasn't comforting but depressing.
Mr. Napier held his hand out, revealing burn scars over the wrist. "I'm Jack Napier."
Klarion was quiet, keeping calm before taking his hand in a shake. "Klarion."
"If you don't mind, I wish to talk to you privately." Mr. Napier was stern seeing the bruise growing.
Nema tense but merely smiles."Now Mr. Napier, surely all these talks can wait. Klarion had a long day-"
"If you don't mind madam, I would like to hear it from the boy." He spoke.
Klarion was nervous yet something from his gut felt like he can't say no, knowing what will await him. Whatever this guy is, it's better than here. He had whatever energy he had and could muster before pulling away.
"Sure." He spoke and ignored the glare from Nema as she left. When they all leave, Mr. Napier took out a small book and written in it before showing
" Cast the spell so that they won't hear us ." Klarion pauses but does so, having his own set of questions. When he casts it, he glares slightly. "How do you know what I can do?"
Jack holds. "I have ways to get information, just as you have your way of getting things. Did she hurt you?" "Are you here to arrest her?" The witch asked.
"Not yet. I am here to adopt you and protect you. That is my mission." Mr. Napier took out a small spray can. "Close your eyes and hold your breath for a second."
Klarion hesitated but seeing it was an inflammation spray, did as told. The young witch hissed from the sting before the pulsating cheek dissipated.
"Why protect me? I'm just an orphan. Pretty sure there are bigger people to protect."
"You are not some regular kid nor a meta human. That and you're wearing stolen tech."
Klarion flinched a bit wondering how this guy knew before seeing the same one around his neck.
"Why do you have the same one?" Klarion asked in a bit of a shock.
"Now is not the time for any more questions. I will tell you everything after we leave-"
"How can I trust you? And where to?" Klarion asked.
Jack sighed but pointed to the young teens chest. "We are not leaving town yet if that's worrying you. And I know what that mark means on your chest but I have a better friend to tell you that." He held his hand out. "I understand you have every right to not trust me. I am asking you because I will protect you."
Klarion shifted, there was only one adult he trusted and here was a stranger, who had his own secrets, reaching out to him. Klarion wasn't a fan of blind trust much less faith, but he did want to learn about this mark on his chest, why he has it.
"Let me grab my stuff." Klarion goes to get his box and his bag. When he goes to get his journals, The man finds it first. "Smart hiding spot but next time," hands the book, "try a new spot."
Klarion takes it and puts it in his backpack and takes the few clothes he has. He keeps the scarf on to ease his nerves but shows he has everything.
Napier sees that just as the young witch undoes the spell, the other adults come in but the men are holding bats.
"Mr. Napier I am afraid Klarion won't be going yet so please kindly come back until we can set a proper meeting." Nema's eyes were dark, showing she was not going to be nice nor hide her intentions.
"Klarion and I talked and he wishes to leave tonight." Jack stood firm and when a guy bigger than him came at him. The said man flipped the bigger man over and knocked him out.
Nema shook as Jack fixed his coat.
"Ms. Richardson, if you think I am someone to be trifled with, you are mistaken. I work as an investigator privately for a well known corporation. Of course you interfering with my work is a bad mistake." He then pulls out a USB. "I was hoping I wouldn't go this far but you leave me no choice. I hold all the information on you and your orphanage and your business. Even one small incident you purposely let happen to a certain child. And here you were, ready to sell him off." He glares down at her, his eyes turn purple which makes Nema tremble beneath that stare. "Let us get through the adoption process and all this will not see the light of day. If you try anything, I already have it ready to send."
Nema shook as she put her head down, signing her goons to step away and both Jack and Klarion left.
"I will be expecting the paperwork through email." Jack stated as they were leaving.
Nema shook as she curled her hand in after being stepped on by a man but above all her fortune.
Klarion followed him out and shook a bit but covered his face into the scarf to calm down.
"Was that a gift?"
Klarion looked up before nodding, looking back down again. "I made a new friend. His name is Wally."
"Sounds," Jack paused, looking at the boy clinging to it. "Like a nice friend. We best get to my house. It's a bit far from here but it's private and secured." Jack gets the door for the kid before going to his driver's side. "Let's get something to eat first. How do you feel about pizza?"
Klarion hums feeling tired.
Jack understood his answer and began driving off.
Klarion was trying to feel it was real but it was hard so he had to ask.
"You're not going to kill me or dump me somewhere…. This isn't a joke?"
Jack, seeing the doubt, shook his head. "It's not a joke, I am adopting you. However I will not give you your hopes up that I will be around but I can say I'll be there as much as I can for you."
"I'm ok with that." Klarion lays a bit and looks out before feeling tired and knocks out.
Jack, hearing him asleep, calls lex.
"I have Klarion."
" Going on a first name basis, so he was easier to talk to."
"Not out of choice lex. There is so much distrust in him, I had to tell him what I was there for."
".... How did he take it?"
"He believes it but that isn't the problem." Jack drives up to a pizza parlor and is relieved that it is still open. "I gotta go." He hangs up as he sees Klarion was still asleep.
Klarion was waking up to what appeared to be a village and people dressed in pilgrim clothes. He would have thought he was in the past had he not noticed a starless night. He was amazed before noticing that all the villagers had blue skin so he was either in a dream or somewhere else. He looks around to figure out where he is and sees a woman he can tell feels familiar as he sees her step in front of the villagers. The teen sat and watched as the adults talked.
"We need a powerful witch to help protect us!"
"Speak to the lords! They will help us!!"
Before klarion could figure out what they were talking about, he saw a girl a little older than him stare at him before leaving, making him follow her.
"You can see me?! Wait!" Klarion floats before seeing her waiting. Then, before he could speak to her, he was pulled away and into the dark.
Klarion wakes up to see Jack just open the door for him and sees that it's that house no one bought. Something about cursed land. klarion tried to remember what that place he was dreaming about because it felt familiar.
"Time to wake up kid." Jack spoke as Klarion got out and grabbed his bag. He saw it was 6:45pm. He was asleep for about an hour.
"I got two pizzas knowing you're probably hungry after using all that magic and I didn’t know what you like." Jack takes his own bag as Klarion gets out and sees that he was covered by Jack's coat. He follows curiosity as he sees they were surrounded by forests and sees the town lights not far from here.
"With your magic already growing, I chose this place to keep it hidden. It has the most spiritual potency and I was able to place more protection. The energy should be able to hide your magic."
"You know magic?" Klarion asked with a bit of hope.
"No but I know a friend who was kind enough to help." Jack unlocks the door and they enter.
Klarion sees it was refurbished the last time he was here (10 days ago.) "So this guy helped you fix the house."
"Correct." Jack walks into the dining room to put the pizza down.
Klarion follows and sees it was simple. The color themes were of red and silver with purple. Klarion sat down and saw Jack going to the kitchen, finding it was more like a modern Victorian style.
"So what are you? Aside from a private investigator who has friends that study magic."
"Perhaps you can guess. I have seen your file, you're quite adept at your situation and surroundings. If you can guess who I am, I'll tell you everything." He places the plates on the counter.
Klarion crosses his arms. "How many can I guess?"
"Three guesses only." Jack stated
Klarion looks at the man and hums.
As far as he learned, Mr. Napier was an investigator but not part of the Lord's enforcement agency. In fact, he had no badge.
".... you don't work for the lords."
"Good guess. Keep going." Jack crosses his arms.
Klarion paced a bit and stopped remembering the smell from the coat but something that was troubling from it. "... you're a crook."
"Not wrong but not correct."
Klarion had to think the last and looked at the man once again and focused on him. All he felt was constant dread and heard laughs that were haunting but saw bats in his vision. He shook and heard glasses shattered around him and staggered, feeling something trickle down from his nose and knew it was a nosebleed when he over uses magic.
"That's enough klarion." Jack helps him up but when he lifts Klarion up, he sees something for a moment but shakes it off.
"- You're against the batman." Klarion looked up, half of his eye was red and black on one side of his eye as his nose was bleeding.
".... Yes." Jack spoke.
"What did he do to you?" Klarion hissed from the headache as Jack got the fire going and a pot for tea.
"A lot before he became a ''lord'.'' Jack sighed. "But that's a story for another time. For now, you will have to accept the answers I provide."
"You're a real box full of bombs. And you know what I meant."
"Funny," Jack was surprised as he saw Klarion calmed himself and the witch's left eye was back to normal. "I am a vigilante against the lords, specifically Batman." Jack helps him sit down and goes to bring him a cup of tea. "My mission is to be your guardian and protect you for you may be a threat to the lords of justice."
Klarion drinks his cup before raising a brow. "I'm not a powerful witch. "
"Not yet. You summoned an alien from a good distance, outside our galaxy. Something only a sorcerer with high levels can do."
"I won't agree or deny it but I'm just a witch in training."
"Yes, a witch that hides his true pheromones too." Jack drinks his cup of tea as he takes a slice of pizza before sitting down. "Don't worry I am not affected by them. I lost my glands and sense of it years ago in an accident. This collar is to help hide my scent but also to repress certain things I can't control. Is that why you stole that tech?"
"Is that why you smell different?" Klarion asked curiously.
"Perceptive, you are able to smell even through the collar. I am quite curious how."
"Witches' intuition." The teen answers. "As for the stealing, I'm pretty sure you know why I have one."
"Fair. For now that is all I can give you. Here, I have gifts for you." He holds out a box.
It wasn't a decorative one but it was a pretty simple black box that didn't look bad. On top of it said "happy birthday!"
Klarion hesitated but opens it and finds a phone and a choker and bands similar to his wrist but nicer. And lastly keys.
"It is important you are able to contact me and have your own set if I'm not here. It is best not to let other alphas know your scent, especially that collar you have on is useless at this point. Instinctively they will want to claim you. With or without a mark."
Klarion hesitated but accepted them.
"You can begin wearing them tomorrow but for now, eat." Jack insisted.
Klarion puts the box to the side before he takes a bite and grin enjoying the pepperoni pizza. He ate nearly half the box as Jack put them in separate containers after Klarion gave a bit of hassle about putting them together.
"It's annoying when the taste of everything pizza is on it." Klarion stated as he incinerated the boxes.
"They are just pizzas." Jack rolls his eyes wondering how it is different but separates them in different boxes.
As soon as they finished, Klarion went to explore around as Jack went to make a private call.
The young witch looked around before he entered Jack's room and looked around to find it plain. He steps forward and goes to the closet and hums before he looks and finds a hidden button and reveals a hidden walk-in closet and sees in its stand, a red helmet with no eyes or ear and sees his gadgets and all.
"Thought he would be cooler." Klarion mumbles as he leaves, going to his room. Klarion enters and finds it blank and couldn't help but grin and already was using his magic to make the room his own way.
"So how is the boy Jack?" Lex asked as he was in California for a business and the project with the light.
"Troublesome and a bit bratty but not oblivious." Jack spoke seeing he found his hidden closet. "Like an angry cat."
"Sounds like you met your match." Lex joked.
"We are nothing alike." Jack glares down, crossing his arms.
"Why did you call? I'm assuming it's not about the complaints."
"His magic is manifesting more than you said. Either he has found an anchor, or he is without one and is quite strong on his own."
Lex hearing this knew it won't be a matter of how but when fate will get a whiff of the boy. "Best you keep an eye on him. Teach him what you can to defend himself."
"Shouldn't he be taught by a sorcerer?" Jack raised a brow.
"Not yet with the justice lords out to find anything out of the norm and you both can't leave yet. The young justice is there so you will need to help him learn to escape or hide."
Jack hums as he receives the files of adoption.
Jack recalled the name on Klarion's hand before he looked at Lex through the screen. "I will need to get him new sets of clothes and things. I already sent the list and other things and need them by morning tops."
"You're being a good father-"
"Guardian lex. You know how I feel about being called that." He hangs up and hears the shuffle upstairs before checking it out. He walks slowly and hears Klarion shouting stop, his instincts kick in and he rushes to break through the door.
"What-!"
SPLATTER!!!
Jack spat out and got a view of what was going on. He can tell Klarion was trying to paint his room already.
"Oh carp!!" Klarion drops the bucket as it floats away to paint another wall. "I didn't mean to do that!!"
"Couldn't this wait till the weekend?" Jack asked, trying to clean his face off of what he can assume was red paint.
"I was hoping to get it done. Especially for Teekl and her siblings!" Klarion grabs a rag out and hands it to Jack.
"Teekl?" Jack raises a brow while wiping the excess paint.
"She's my kitten. My friend is taking care of them for me until I have a place. I wanted to make it their home." He waits for a reaction, not wanting to tell him he had thought of living with that friend, had Jack not been there.
"Alright but you will have to sleep on the couch bed tonight. The room is… too wet." Jack glares annoyed but can see Klarion was unfazed and only agreeing.
Klarion grabs his clothes to change while rushing into the bathroom. As the young witch looked at himself in the mirror, he looked at his left arm and nearly forgot it before he focused on making the phone appear. It took a bit before he added Wally's number in it, adding a woodpecker on it and giggles at the inside joke texting him he will message after.
Jack however goes to clean himself before adding a new detail in the file of klarion.
Anchor: teekl (need to find)
10 min. Later
Klarion in pajama pants and a shirt, steps out of the bathroom feeling peachy as an orange (peach). Klarion looks around, not used to the new place and sees Jack setting up the bed couch already.
"Alright Klarion, get some rest." Jack goes to his room.
"... thanks." Klarion spoke out a late thank you.
"It's fine. The room should either dry or fix itself up by morning." Jack didn't think much about it.
"I meant…. Thanks for adopting me."
Jack stops and sees the kid gets in bed working on his homework.
"Night kid." And leaves.
11:57pm
klarion was writing his homework when he stopped. He puts his book down, and lies back down on the bed. He never questioned his past, much less tried to think of his parents but he couldn't help but think about the dream.
'it's not a dream. it had to have been something else.' he closes his eyes before relaxing as he curls to the blankets.
in the astral plane/dream
Klarion woke up as he was in that place and there was a wall now a brick fence. He could see green eyes peeking through a hole but felt his heart skip a beat. He loved red but his favorite were emeralds and how pretty they shine.
"Did we break it?" The said guy asked.
Klarion touches it cautiously and sees it is cracking but is solid. He couldn't see the guy like before.
"Seems like we did." He sat against the wall and hissed a bit on his cheek. Guess he will have to heal it when he wakes up.
"You ok?" The guy asked.
Klarion bit his lip but forced a calm voice trying not to think of earlier. "I'm fine. Just a small bruise on my cheek."
"Can I see?"
Klarion hesitated but saw a human hand reach out. Klarion caved in and let him touch it; relaxing to the warm hand touching his cheek.
"..."
"I can heal it after. I am more tired than sore." Klarion moves back but felt that hand hold his own
"Who hurt you? This isn't right!"
Klarion can hear the rage but holds his hand calming him.
"It's fine, I'm no longer in the orphanage anymore. I got adopted." Klarion smiles a bit but feels the hand pull away. He turns to see familiar emerald eyes.
"Are they good people?" He asked.
"He seems nice but more of a grouch." He turns to lie back.
"Did he do anything to make you uncomfortable?"
"No. He saved me from getting worse than disciplined. He's been nice to me and I guess a decent guardian. I made two new friends but it sounds weird saying that." Klarion couldn't help but smile even when he sounded annoyed.
"That's great! What are they like?"
"Well there's Conner who's…. Edgy but a big softy for animals. He's not scary." Klarion was annoyed about how Conner wanted to see his arm.
"Do you like him?"
"Nope. He's nice but a bit rude and not my type." Klarion didn't hesitate to answer
"So what is your type?"
Klarion chuckles. "I like someone who's smart and can keep a conversation going. Maybe strong but I am not a fan of muscles."
"So I got a chance?"
"All depends on what happens when we meet. What's your type?" Klarion smirks thinking he got the guy tongue tied.
"Mischief. Smart and I like that they can hold their own."
Klarion was quiet.
"Though I like dark eyes. Anything close to obsidian or onyx."
Klarion was quietly turning red, his wrist with the initials throbbing. He didn't know if he should be flattered or annoyed. He's getting this worked up. "There was this other guy," he changed the subject. "Wally. He… he makes me laugh."
"That's a good thing. You have a nice laugh." The guy shuffled and sat behind him.
Klarion looks away embarrassed. "I hit him with a broken branch."
Klarion hears him laugh before continuing on. "But he was still nice! He was caring. He didn't even see me as a witch or a freak. He saw just me. And tried to make me laugh. And he loves cats too! He saved teekl from being taken. I don't know why he does that."
"Maybe because he likes you." The guy spoke. "He probably even felt a spark and he wants to try to see that spark be something big."
"What if I'm not what he likes?" Klarion crosses his arms.
"You're pretty cool! I have seen your memories-"
"Then you know I'm not a good guy-!" Klarion stood up. "I'm not nice! Not sweet or colorful! I raised the dead one time and they dug themselves back to the ground!"
"So what! You are still cool because no one could do what you did." He then went quiet. "I always thought magic wasn't real. That it was some trick or a scam. I still believed that, until I saw a memory only of you using magic. It felt like I was there, I saw how you casted the spell. It was real magic ."
Klarion was surprised before hesitated but after a bit had to ask. "How much have you seen?"
"Not a lot really. Bits here and there… There was one of you casting rain, you heard there wasn't enough coming and you did something about it."
"I wanted a free no school day-"
"That was something you did was right. You did what was right and thattown of people will regret it when you leave. That other guy, he was sincerely nice and saw how different you are."
Klarion leans back not seeing the other doing as he listens to Klarion move. "I think… I somehow believe that he is a nice guy. I like him… even his annoying need to make me smile or laugh."
the guy chuckles before frowning. "I gotta say, I feel a bit jealous."
Klarion raised a brow. "How are you jealous?"
"Those new friends get closer to being close to you. I don't get to be like them. I only see you when I can and that depends. I can't even see you with this wall, I think I prefer that other barrier."
Klarion didn't want to look but already peered through the hole. What he saw wrenched his heart at how sad he was but recognized! him easily. He sat back in place with his hand on the barrier before pushing through, wincing a bit.
"Don't! You'll-"
Klarion broke through, and held his hand for him as he slipped his other hand through the now bigger hole.
"See? Besides, you are a lot closer than anyone is with me." Klarion pants a bit, it was a hard thing to do in this place. He sees the other take his hands and hold them.
"I like to see you and not just here. I want to hang out with you and be with you."
Klarion sees him perfectly, cupping his face. "But you have, Wally. The only problem is we won't remember any of this" Klarion stated letting go. "None of us will remember this…. Maybe it's best we shouldn't remember. Who knows what the effects could be from this-" he felt Wally hold his hands close.
"I want to remember this! I want to keep remembering all of this!"
Klarion felt the surge of energy through him. As if getting hit by lightning only being engulfed by it. But just as he was being pulled into it he felt he was fading and disappeared .
Wally watches him disappear as the wall closes up but cracks have formed in its place. How painful it was knowing they won't remember any of this but he touches the wall and sees it cracks more before taking a deep breath hoping when he wakes up, he'll remember this.
"I won't forget this." He mumbles as he too was waking up
Chapter Text
Klarion woke up and stretched before his alarm went off and once again not a trace but one thing did stand from the dream.
Emerald eyes but it was all fuzzy again.
Sitting up, Klarion looks at his phone and sees a notification about the weather.
"Tonight's gonna be a foggy one, maybe a good night to practice." Klarion gets up and stretches before looking at his surroundings. He couldn't believe he was here in a different place. He gets off the couch bed, and without thinking, snaps his fingers and the couch bed fixes itself. It's not that it's alarming, usually it took time but this time it was at an instant. Shaking it off, he makes his way up to the room. Opening the door, he found the room is now red and black with a silver lining border. Klarion walks in grinning at the now decorative room before going to the bed to find a small bed for cats next to him.
"This is very nice of him." Klarion at the gift for teekl. "Today I'll bring her and the others here." He then thinks about Wally. He couldn't help but think about what Wally told him.
"Being a co-parent," He thought out loud before shaking off both the thought and the feeling growing in his stomach.
"I'll tell him when I see him I live in a safer place and maybe invite him over to hang out." He mumbles to open a drawer to find a new set of clothes but unlike the somewhat old shirts he had, they look newer and nicer. Klarion looked through the other drawers to find other styles of clothes for occasion before finding a drawer full of witchcraft tools and what he knew was a grimoire. He was amazed to find it different, old and filled with spells but found a note in it.
"Read the book before casting anything. We'll begin classes tomorrow morning.
-C."
He shrugged before he got up to try on the clothes. After changing and making sure his wraps were on for his right forearm, he moved a bit back to look at himself. The clothes fit him pretty well and it felt a lot nicer compared to the ripped jeans and shirts. He could probably assume Mr. Napier's boss or friend had all the information on him but was curious why.
Knowing he won't get any information yet, he dismissed it for now before checking on his lips. They were now black as his hair but what was concerning was why are they black.
"Maybe that C guy can tell me when I see him." Klarion puts on the choker the matching wrist brands on. Looking at his right arm, scarred by burns,
shook away the words from Nema before getting ready for school and got a message from Wally.
Klarion perked to see a pic of Teekl asleep with her siblings and the mama cat.
Klarion smiles before typing.
Wally who was getting ready to choose which ride to take, he hears a beep and sees its Klarion
K: How are they?
W: safe and happy. Want to hang out after school and get them stuff?
K: I wish but I work after school till 6.
W:We can meet after. Plus Teekl misses you.
Klarion smiles at the pic before his phone rings, Wally calling him.
He answers it but sees it's a video call.
"Why are you so persistent to hangout? There is always tomorrow Saturday after 2pm." Klarion walks into the hall down to the kitchen.
"What can I say, you're pretty cool to talk to." Wally grins. "And besides, what's so bad about hanging out with you?"
"From what I've been told, I'm a bit bratty, troublemaker, a freak, etc. Typical warnings." Klarion grabs other stuff for pancakes.
"Who cares what people say. I've been called annoying lots of times." Wally held teekl in one arm as he served cat food for the cat.
"I'll believe it when I see it." He sets the phone down as he cooks breakfast.
"What are you cooking?" Wally perks.
"Stack of pancakes and eggs and bacon. I am making some for my guardian too."
"You got adopted? That's great!" Wally smiles.
"Yeah and no, it's great I'm out of the orphanage but having to trust someone… is not something I'm ok with." Klarion began mixing as Wally watches.
"Did he hurt you ?" Wally asked, seeing the faded bruise. He felt his rage boiled at the sight of it.
Klarion again was questioning to answer that but seeing Wally was persistent; it was pointless knowing he won't stop asking. "The bruising was from the head of the orphanage. Luckily Mr. Napier, my guardian, got there in time to save me." He can tell by the look Wally's eyes were filled with concern. "He's a nice guy Wally."
"I believe you, I wish I had been there. Maybe if I had, you wouldn't have gotten hurt." Wally looks to teekl who curled in his hands
"I rather you weren't." Klarion started cooking the eggs as he began making pancakes. "Don't get me wrong, I had hoped you did and I could think tons of ways it would have gone. But," He looks at Wally, "I would hate it more if you were there and got hurt. If something did happen to you, I would feel worse because I got a friend I just met, hurt or worse and if it was worse, I could never see you again." Klarion then looks back flipping the pancakes. "Plus I would be annoyed if I had to save you when you're trying to be a knight in shining armor."
Wally could only grin, "So would that make you my prince?"
"Witch, I would rather be a witch. Even as seen as evil over that title." Klarion narrows his eyes, annoyed.
"You know that's even better. That way I can say I'm enchanted by you." Wally then sees Klarion snickered.
"That is so terrible. Do you use those pick up lines on every person you meet?" Klarion asked just as he set the pancakes on a plate.
"Only to catch a smile and it's working." Wally sees Klarion roll his eyes.
"Why do you want to see me smile? What do you gain?" Klarion then set two plates, one for him and one for Mr. Napier.
"Just knowing I made your day makes it worth it. I hope I can try your cooking." Wally added. "Maybe make a challenge?"
"Alright, I'll play a small game, what's the rules?"
"If I can get you to smile 5 times today, I win.
"If you win I'll try to make you anything you want."
"So anything I want?" Wally grins before thinking about if he loses "And if I lose?" Wally was curious before he felt a shiver how Klarion smirked evil.
"You'll know for now I will have to end our talk. I gotta eat and leave."
"I can pick you up-"
"I am afraid not."
Klarion sees Jack walk in and glares at Wally who keeps a calm expression.
"You must be Wally. Klarion told me a bit about you." Jack walks up and sets a kettle for coffee or tea.
"Yes sir, Klarion told me you are his guardian. It is really nice to meet you." Wally only smiles to show he was a good guy as he holds Teekl in his arms.
Jack sees the little kitty and knows on the spot that it was Klarion's anchor. He needed to bring teekl here asap. "I will be driving Klarion to school so you will see him there." He takes the plate handed to him as Klarion waves to Wally.
"See you at school." Before hanging up and sitting across from jack.
"I will be teaching at your school." Jack states but sees Klarion was not shocked but annoyed.
"Are you concerned with me exposing magic? I've done a lot of tricks and pranks to count, no one has caught me." Klarion asked as he served himself milk while using magic to pour syrup on his pancakes.
"I don't doubt your skills to hide your tracks. I am merely concerned over those that orbit around you."
Klarion thought of Wally but dismissed it.
"Who are you worried about?" Klarion was curious about what he didn't know.
Jack cuts his food up before taking a bite but looks at the teen. "I suspect possible trouble. It is imperative I keep a close eye on you."
"What are you going to be doing?" Klarion asked.
"Teaching literature. Something I find is sufficient. I am replacing your previous teacher. He had an unfortunate arrest." Jack answers but hears klarion giggles.
"What kind of arrest? Tax evasion?" Klarion grins. "He was a real jerk who in my opinion did a carppy job."
"Crappy but no. It was a forgery on some things." Jack eats his breakfast before handing a folder to the young witch.
Klarion takes it and opens to find its his adoption papers but found it different than he expected
Klarion Baron.
"I figure you would like to keep that surname you wrote on your hand. And this adoption is temporary. I rather you have your own identity. " Jack added as he got up to make his coffee in a thermos to take. "I will send that information into the hall of records but we will show that to the school."
Klarion grinned at that, wondering how they would react to this.
"Best hurry before we're late." Jack takes his plate as he sees klarion finish his plate in seconds before dashing out the room as he waits for the boy. Jack wondered if Klarion was hurrying to see Wally or to rub it in everyone's face that he's adopted. He'll have to wait and see.
Klarion hurries to get all his things before stopping to look at the grimoire he left on his bed but stops to think should he or should he not?
After five minutes Klarion came bringing the grimoire in his backpack as he put on his coat and was very excited to go to school.
Jack, who was ready to go, sees Klarion's bag. It was barely holding on."Perhaps you should get a new bag."
"This is my lucky bag. I have had it since I was 13. It's gotten me out of a lot of slimy situations."
"Sticky."
"Same thing. Besides, I can always fix it after." Klarion goes to walk out when Jack stops him. "Hold on." He grumbles before taking out from the closet his old messenger bag that was intact and dark gray. "Use this instead."
Klarion crosses his arms before taking it as he looks at it.
'*not bad, way different than what I'm used to.*' He takes it with him to the car and switches it but sees the grimoire taken.
"Hey!"
"You can't take this with you." Jack places it in the compartment.
"I'm supposed to study it." Klarion crosses his arms.
"In places no one sees."
"I promise I'll keep it safe!" Klarion pleaded.
Jack ignores his pleas and starts the car. "No means no."
Klarion grumbles before sitting back as he thinks about the book, unknowingly transporting the book to his messenger bag. Klarion looks out to the window ignoring Jack as the said man sighs.
"Klarion, please understand, if someone sees you with that, they will hurt you."
"I get it. You don't trust me just as I don't trust you." Klarion keeps looking away from him.
Jack looks at him through the mirror. "You're right I don't trust you. I- I had lost everything I cared about. You lost your trust in people because they never gave you a chance and assumed the worst. In your eyes I'm almost not so different but I am willing to trust you if you earn it."
Klarion crosses his arms but thought he'd give it a try.
"What do I have to do to show you can trust me?" He raises a brow.
Jack comes to a stop on a red light, and holds out a paper and Klarion takes it as he opens it to find a riddle.
Hand goes round and constant, twisted over the other with no problem. Go there.
Klarion looks at it. "Do I get a hint?"
"I'm sure you are smart enough." Jack parks into the parking lot.
Klarion gets out, and smirks. "I am and I will." He stuck his tongue out before leaving and looked it over to find any hints or clues before looking up to think clearly before thinking of which ones.
"Not a class clock, there's 24 that works." He walks before thinking of the main clock looking at the tower over on the center and hurries over to the top. He sneaks up and slides up to look around to find another hidden in a hole.
Klarion takes it off but sees the time.
'Class will begin soon.' "Oh carp!!!" He hurries down but without thinking, teleports without thinking to the bottom and nearly hits the door but catches himself in time. He couldn't think about it for a second when his thoughts were to get to class just in time.
Running in he made it just as the bell rang.
"Students, klarion." The teacher spoke.
Klarion didn't pay no mind as he sat down just as the bell rang. "We have new students coming here. Please welcome Wallace Rudolph west."
Klarion perked up to see Wally there smiling at him. The young witch tried to hide his smile before hearing him sit next to him on the empty seat. When class began, the young witch tried to not look at the ginger but kept feeling his eyes made him want to turn and look but resisted each time before finding a note on his desk and opening it to read.
○happy to see me?○
Klarion knew who it was before writing back
•what if I said no:p.•
Klarion places the note and using his magic makes it appear on Wally's desk before writing his notes down only to see it appear and reads
○;-; so cold, but as they say Cold hands warm heart.○
Klarion stiffs his mouth before writing back.
•isn't our hearts always warm?•
○true but I like that your heart is warmer. Hang out during break?○
Klarion hesitated thinking about the riddle and thought maybe.
•meet at the library•
He sends it before opening the paper.
I stand amongst my brothers, spine exposed and painless to the crowd. I only hold what I have and all I hold are just words. Go there.
Klarion already knew but it was hard to go but perk to see small numbers and put the paper away when he's called to answer a question. When the first period was over, he calmly went to his 2nd period only to see Conner was coming across. Klarion kept quiet but Conner was the one to wave at him.
"Klarion."
"Conner." Klarion spoke calmly as both just merely said their greetings but Conner asked for help and Klarion obliged, directing him where to go before he himself had to go. However their conversation, seen by other teens, was already whispering around.
Just as Klarion sat, and grabbed his books when froze a bit to see the grimoire in his bag before shoving it back inside.
'Wait i have it now! Why even bother doing this kiddy quest?' He looked at the book and the small notes before thinking and put it away before snapping his fingers and sending it back to the car. He was doing this to prove a point! He grabs his journal to take notes when there was someone that sat by his side.
Klarion ignored their presence, getting annoyed as he could feel their presence still there. It wasn't too long before he saw a paper moved to his side.
'Hello, I am Joseph .'
"I am not interested in talking." Klarion states but then sees the paper pulled away and come back with more.
'Do you know ASL?'
Klarion felt a bit guilty, he was not well versed in ASL. "I am terribly sorry but no I am not."
'Would you like to learn?'
"I'll learn on my own time." Klarion answers before looking at the guy and finds him more annoying. He was blonde and had the most cheery blue eyes and was mid built, almost the opposite of wally. The young witch can practically see rainbows over the guy. What is strange is he feels something off about the guy.
Before Joseph could write more, klarion wrote down
Class is about to start.
And klarion ignored him during the time taking notes and when it was near the end, klarion took off in speed and hurried to the library. As soon as he got there Wally was waiting for him.
"So what do you need to find?" Wally asked curiously.
"It's more of you being a lookout for me. There's a book I need to get but it's in the private room in the library. I just need to get a note hidden in it." Klarion explains.
"Ok." Wally answers without any questions.
"You're not gonna tell me otherwise. You can get in trouble." Klarion raised a brow.
"I trust you." Wally smiles. "I liked hanging out with you yesterday, I want to keep hanging out together."
Klarion was surprised before he couldn't help but hurry to sneak in but before he could try he again teleported himself inside the office and looked through the books there before he found it but saw it was a book on Salem's history names but ignored it before finding the note. He takes it out and pauses seeing a last name that caught his attention.
Bleak clan.
He was going to read it when he heard Wally talking to someone and the door clicking.
"Mr. Ting, maybe you can show me where the frontier to the new order is-"
"Mr. West, It is best if you ask a more well rounded assistant."
The librarian enters as Wally tenses to find no one there. "Now please go."
Wally sees no one was in the office and sees no one there before the door closes on his face and soon klarion appears.
"That was a closed one." Klarion holds the note out.
Wally sighed in relief before seeing Klarion hold a ripped page. "Not that I'm judging but isn't that a bad idea?"
Klarion held the page. "When I was looking through the pages, there was a surname that stuck out. Bleak, I don't know why but it speaks out to me. Not changing my surname, I like Baron. It's just that I need to learn more why."
Wally hesitated to tell him but instead agreed. "Maybe after this we can do some research together."
"Are you sure? That means possibly staying in the library for 6 to 8 hours." Klarion crosses his arms
"I'll have you know I am Indiana Jones in research." Wally smirks his nose high up. "But I do want something if I'm working on this."
Klarion would leave right away had it been anyone else but he couldn't help but grin back. "Say you help me research this, I will do anything that I can appropriately do."
Wally hums and grins. "Alright but you can't back out."
"Deal." Klarion held his hand as Wally did and shook it but both hissed at the shock. Klarion waved his hand out before opening the note.
Start your steps, to the belly of the beast, where people lose their hope and dread to go.
"Two places I can think of, principal office, or the cafeteria." Klarion mumbles and looks at the time, only 5 minutes till the next period. If he goes to the principal's office, he would have to have an excuse.
"Maybe we can go to the principal's office, ''I was told to bring someone to give me a tour guide." Wally gave a sly grin.
Before klarion could speak, Wally continued. "That will give you enough time to collect all those notes."
Klarion grumbles. "Fine... Let's go the easy way." He was led away by Wally to the principal's office. When they got there however, there was Joseph who smiled at Klarion when they entered the office.
"Ah, Klarion, just the one we are looking for." The principal grins. "Mr. West, has Klarion given you trouble?"
"Actually Klarion has been kind enough to give me a tour." Wally replies but can see Joseph was new.
"Mr. Wilson requested that Klarion give him a tour." The principal spoke.
Klarion raises a brow but grumbles not trusting the guy but Wally recognizes the name Wilson too well and it wasn't a coincidence. "I think we can share klarion to show us around school."
Klarion sees the note and focuses on it and with a small wave of his wrist, the paper appears in his hand.
"Principal Windle, I will show them around now. Bye" Klarion spoke nicely and pulled Wally with him quickly out with Joseph following. Klarion shows them nearby before bringing them to the music area and sees Joseph happy looking around.
Wally, who looked at Joseph, only smiled before Klarion began talking to him.
"I was reading the note but all I got is a meet up and a time." Klarion said annoyed.
"Where and when?" Wally asked.
He shows him the note and reads 'Car at 3pm.' "So that's it?" Wally asked as Joseph walked up and wrote. 'Were you on a small quest?'
"Something like that but it's done." Klarion answers as Joseph smiles and writes. 'You must be very smart to solve them so quickly.'
Klarion hesitated but thanked Joseph . "Thanks but it's not that I'm smart, it's a matter of just looking at the words." Klarion answers before Wally wraps an arm around klarion.
"Still smart if you ask me." Wally grins. "Since I did help you in getting the notes, how about enjoying a free period." Wally grins.
"Where would you like to go first to see Rudolph?" Klarion asked with a sly grin at Wally who chuckles.
"You're not gonna give up calling me that." Wally feigns worry as Klarion merely smirks.
"Why would I? To call you the brightest reindeer in the west~?" Klarion chuckles
"Rudolph is a popular middle name." Wally crosses his arms.
"Just as it's the name of a cute reindeer." Klarion muses but stops seeing Wally's smile turns to a mischief grin.
"You do love cute things. Am I part of the cute?" Wally asked making klarion crosses his arms but was a bit flustered before grinning. "Yes cute; cutely annoying."
Wally only smiles but is cut off when Joseph coughs and shows Klarion what he wrote.
'Where to next?' Joseph smiles.
"I'll show you the garden the school made." Klarion takes Wally's hand and walks with him. Joseph follows and frowns slightly seeing there was something between them already but knew he needed to get close to the chaos lord as he was told.
Getting there took not long as they saw most of the plants were as, pun intended, under the weather or dead.
"This is the garden but because it's fall, it's hard to say it's pretty." Klarion explains.
"That's not true, it's really nice." Wally walks up.
"How so?" Klarion crosses his arms.
"You're here." Wally replies.
Klarion rolls his eyes. "That was corny even for you."
"What can I say, you make an artichoke out of me when you're nice to me." Wally smirks.
Klarion giggled and tried so hard not to smile but still did.
"Gotcha smiling again." Wally grins.
"Only because that was too corny." Klarion covers his mouth as Joseph watches before he writes. 'Why hide such a sweet smile?'
Klarion stops before thanking him but it was the kind of smile Wally could tell was just kindly to distance himself. "If you both want, we can go to a different area or show you where your classes are."
"That sounds like a good idea." Wally replies as Joseph showed Klarion his schedule the speedster watches Klarion direct the blonde but saw no matter how kind Joseph tried to be, Klarion drew a line between them and didn't hide his discomfort each time Joseph got close only to step back. The ginger couldn't help but like that Klarion was not trusting Joseph despite how kind Joseph is.
Wally sees both he and Joseph shared a class and saw a perfect time to talk.
"Hey Klarion, why don't we meet at lunch since we have the same class? It'll give you time to get back after all this and we can tour during lunch?" Wally winks to Klarion who merely nodded seeing a chance to take a break.
"Sure, I'm going to head back now." Klarion waves off and leaves.
When Wally knew Klarion was far enough away, Wally took Joseph to the top in speed.
"Spill it Joseph , what's your intention with Klarion? You can't just be here by coincidence." Wally's calm and nice guy changed the second they were alone.
Joseph however was calm and unaffected by Wally. "'I came to be in a different school. Is that a crime?'" He signs.
"Cut the act. You know who he is, and he sent you here." Wally crosses his arms. "I wonder what Slade would do if he found out if his son was to get captured by the young justice."
Joseph 's eyes turned dark but couldn't get a sight on his face.
"Hey I don't want anything to do with your father, or dealing with you. I wouldn't be the one to capture you, hell not even worth wasting my time. I have someone I want to protect and I won't let you go near him." Wally glares at him.
"'Why are you protecting him? This goes against your team, your so-called justice lords. What would you want from him?" Joseph was concerned over the witch and as hard the said teen gave him, he was worried for him.
Wally thought before he made up his mind and showed him the mark on his wrist. "Because he is mine just as I'm his. I am not letting anyone take him from me." And the young speedster left as Joseph only stood in shock. He didn't know if that was a fake or the truth but he can practically sense that tense animosity an alpha gives when possessive but wally was more aggressive than he thought. He wondered if it was the effect of the chaos the young witch gave or was that all from the speedster. Either way he needed to keep a closer eye on the witch boy, for his sake.
Klarion entering his next period walks in to see Jack there, already setting the lecture before seeing Klarion the first to walk in. "Klarion, on time. I thought you would be trying to get the last note."
Klarion held it out. "So tell me, what was the purpose for all these?" He was curious more and more before seeing Jack turn back to the board.
"Can you be willing to trust me?" He asked.
Klarion thought about it before thinking this wasn't a test just for him. But to see can he too trust the man that adopted him. "Maybe." He answers and goes to sit just as others start coming in and talking away till class begins. During the whole period, klarion was reading about the current literature about trust but all he could think mostly was about the challenge. Mr. Napier had him blindly follow and find the notes but each one was a task using his powers secretly but in tight situations. He was used to that but it was different. Not getting caught was the task but using means you know. In a manner of speaking, Klarion had to trust where his guardian was leading him, but just as his guardian had to trust him to use his magic. He did it to get the book but he had it already, only to send it back. Why? Why send it back?
'Because I want to believe he'll give it to me.'
Riiiiiiiiing!!!!!
Klarion waited till everyone left as Mr. Napier was erasing the board.
"You want to see if I can trust you." Klarion spoke.
"Was it too easy?" His guardian asked.
"It was boring. You knew I had the book." Klarion crosses his arms.
"I'm assuming you didn't sneak into my car."
"It teleported to me." Klarion crosses his arms.
"Just like now." Napier spoke, making the young witch open his bag to find it there again. "Klarion the book sees you as its master. It was not surprising that it went back to you but I give you credit for sending it back. I will give you the choice, trust me to hold it or I trust you to hold it."
Klarion looks at the book, a book he so much can feel magic in it but yet…. He couldn't find it in himself to put it in his bag. He held the book out to Jack, looking annoyed.
"I am simply proving a point." Klarion glares slightly but his glare was soften up
Jack only nodded as Klarion left for lunch. Watching his ward leave he decided on trusting him back.
He called lex up and waited. When it clicked he spoke first.
"I need you to make something…."
Klarion rushes to lunch as he forgot to make himself something but as he gets in line he sees Conner crossing his arms as if waiting or hiding. Most likely hiding. Klarion walks up and fixes his shoulder strap. "Why are you hiding?" Klarion asked before hearing a very annoying perky voice. "That answers it."
Conner nodded as he hid a bit more.
Klarion felt almost bad for the guy but he was curious about something. "Do you like her?"
Conner looked at him. "I like her as a brother who cares for his sister."
"I wouldn't know that. Want me to walk with you or not…?" Klarion didn't know what to do in this situation.
Conner looks at him before shaking his head no. "I'll be fine."
Klarion hesitated before leaving. He tried his best to sneak away but was soon stopped by the perky ginger.
"Hi you're Klarion? From yesterday?" M'gann asked.
"If I say no will you go away?" Klarion glares before m'gann frowns.
"I wish to apologize for yesterday. I shouldn't have assumed." M'gann looks down but looks up and sees him already leaving. "Did I do wrong?"
"I am going to eat lunch and since I didn't make lunch, I am going to get myself something to eat. And you have done enough to scare teekl. You think I accept your apology and we're friends? No." Klarion was already heading to the cafeteria when M'gann stopped him.
"Have you seen Conner?" She asked. She tried so hard to read his mind but she couldn't. She couldn't read anyone at the school.
"Nope and I am not dealing with this-"
"Do you like him?" M'gann asked.
Klarion keeps ignoring her as he leaves. He walks but feels her eyes following her and before he could go further he stops, and turns, making her halt.
"I like him as much as a cat likes a dog. He's not my type." He walked away but she was still following him.
"May I ask what your type is?" She asks but the goth keeps walking.
"Last I recall, we are not friends. I don't need to tell you anything about me, much less I need to hear you." He goes but stops when she shouted across the hall.
"If you like Wally, you shouldn't!" M'gann stated. "My friend likes him way longer and they look great together!"
Klarion grip his hand getting annoyed so would it be wrong to tell her off?
"How can conner and wally hang out with a creep-"
With a twist he turns to her. "How do you know what is good for someone? Because your Oh so perky and filled with rainbows and some expert in love? I could care less if they were best of friends, or you have seen so many shows with Romance! Your views on love are nothing more than shit." He hisses.
"Excuse me-"
"Finally something you said right! Look I am wasting my time talking to you so bye and leave me alone! And for Wally, he can hang out with whoever he wants! I am not telling him to choose so quit looking at me like everyone else in this shetty school! And if I am a creep, you're a shrew!" He turns and leaves.
M'gann looks in his direction and sees him go. She shakes in rage as she leaves to call Artemis about Wally. Conner however leaves following M'gann.
Klarion enters the cafeteria and sees there's a line and hardly any chance to eat. Just when he was heading to the vending machines he saw Wally there waving to him as he held a fruit and those bars "Sorry it's not a sweet treat, or a big meal. Want fruit and a bar?"
Klarion couldn't help but nodded and accepted the apple and a bar. When he took a bite, he couldn't help but find it sweet like candy and nearly ate it whole. "Thanks."
"No problem, how was class?" Wally walks with him as they go outside to sit under the tree. Getting situated, Klarion sat against the tree, relaxing as he watched Wally lying on the grass.
"Pretty boring. I had an interesting discussion with my guardian. And," he pauses before frowning a bit. "I told off your friend who was pestering me. M- something." He takes a bite of his apple and wally frowns.
"Mind telling me what she told you?"
Klarion was quiet for a bit. "Nothing that's worth talking about." He takes a bite of the apple.
"Klarion, you can tell me. I would rather hear it from you than hear what M’gann might say differently." Wally sat closer and Klarion looked out before looking at him. "That her friend already likes you." He leans more into the tree. "How you and her are perfect for each other." Klarion answers, not bothering to talk about what she also said, it wasn't up to think about her any more than he wants. "I'm not upset by her. I'm annoyed but not so much. I already told her off so expect a not so perky ginger."
"I am not seeing her or any other of my friends after school." Wally sits back as he sees the clouds passing. "I am hanging out with a cool witch."
Klarion was quiet before he looked at him. "You think I'm cool? I thought I'dbe anything but cool." Klarion tried to not smile but it was too late, Wally's grin grew wider
"I do, very much think you are." Wally just as he was getting close, they stood up as the sprinklers went off. Klarion covers Jack's bags with his coat hoping it doesn't get wet as they run inside.
Across the side, Jack sighs in relief as he puts his tools away, not leaving any trace to be found.
Wally and Klarion rushed to the bathroom nearly soaked and groaning. "If I didn't know, I think I gave you bad luck." Klarion tried to think of a spell to dry them off as Wally checked to see if anyone was there.
"We're in the clear if you're worried about using magic." Wally gives the clear as he sees klarion casts a spell and soon they are both dried up in a minute.
"You're way more open to magic than I thought." Klarion checks on his bag as Wally leans against the wall.
"Albeit, I was not a believer but it was because… my dad killed that belief in me. He didn't want his son to cling to fairy tales."
"Can't blame him there." Klarion blows at his coat and dries up. "I didn't grow up with fairy tales or hoping and wishing." Klarion was relieved his bag was safe. "I never believed I was gonna get adopted."
"But you did." Wally looks at him.
"Yeah but as a child I wasn't anyone's first pic. All those kids got to dream and believe they could. I just sought magic as comfort."
Wally frowns, understanding the teen which made them similar but opposites. To klarion, fantasy and dreams was having a family, magic was his only reality whereas for the speedster, magic was a dream and a fantasy. "I think everyone is blind. How could they not like someone as cool as you. You're not what they say."
Klarion was quiet but smiled. "I could care less what this town says about me." He waves it off, "but coming from you means a lot." Klarion was questioning himself but before he could think he hugged Wally tightly. He didn't like believing in hopes but feeling the pulsing on his wrist, he liked to believe it's Wally. He lets go when the bell rings meaning lunch is over. "I better get going. See you after school!" Klarion ran out and hurried away, when he got far, he covered his face with his hands. He couldn't help but get flustered as he felt his heart beating like a drum but perked to see Joseph walking in his direction.
"Oh yeah, we have three classes we share." Klarion fixes his bag as Joseph only smiles as they walk.
During their walk, Joseph Wrote down handing it to Klarion.
'Did I do anything wrong?'
"I don't trust you." Klarion answers, handing the paper back and watches him write before giving it back.
'I know I sometimes am a bit friendlier but I wish we can be friends.'
"I appreciate that, but" Klarion thought of Jack and Wally and looked to Joseph . "Let's start off as acquaintances."
Joseph smiled and nodded.
"You're a literal pocket full of rock-rainbows." He corrects himself and sees Joseph silently laugh and write down.
'If I am rainbows you must be a storm.'
Klarion only grinned. "I am my own chaos." They enter inside class.
It was calming for klarion during class and when it was the orchestra next.
Joseph showed his abilities to the best as Klarion was not impress on part he was:
Forced to take the class
Was only playing to not do p.e
When Joseph finished, he was surrounded by other students, but he saw klarion was merely reading his book, waiting for class to end.
Joseph walks over and smiles before writing away.
"What instrument did you choose?" Klarion asked and Joseph smiled showing a viola and Klarion crossed his arms. "As nice as it is to not be lonely, shouldn't you be progressing than regressing?"
'Wouldn't it be nice to play together?'
"We're still playing in the same room and can talk after." Klarion goes back to reading, ignoring the big grin on joseph.
When it was close to the end of the school day, Klarion took his time putting his stuff away as Joseph was surrounded by people talking to him. Klarion took this chance to leave and enjoy his walk outside alone but nearly felt tired after the long day of using magic. Despite the little use of magic, he didn't eat enough. Just when he had hoped it was all for today, he was wrong. Coming up were the now not so perky girl and that girl Artemis whom he remembered and walks a different way but sees they were trying to catch up to him. He makes a fast turn and uses his invisibility spell in Time before they come.
"What the hell!?" Artemis growls seeing No one there but an empty hallway.
"We were close- how can he disappear that fast?" M'gann looks around.
Artemis however punches the wall, nearly close to Klarion's head. "When we find him, he's going to hear what I have to say. Keep away from Wally. He shouldn't have to be around a creep like him."
Klarion grips his arms but looks away. He hated being called a creep and worse he's hearing those voices again.
"He isn't a creep."
Klarion looks up to see Wally who was not looking happy. The young goth slipped away and went to move away but wanted to hear them talk.
"Wally, he is a creep! M'gann told me what happened! He has no right to call her that-"
"M'gann what happened then." Wally looks at M'gann but rather than the kind eyes she always sees, there was only cold and bitter glare.
M'gann looked away "I asked him-"
"She asked him for help and he wouldn't give her a chance. And when she-"
"I asked M'gann, not you." Wally cut her off, making Artemis shake a bit. Never had she seen wally like this.
M'gann shook a bit. "I asked him for help, and he refused. I told him I apologize but he didn't accept it. I asked him about liking Conner. He said he doesn't like him like that so I warned him not to get-"
"M'gann!" Wally glares, his eyes narrowed at her.
M'gann shook at the sight.
Klarion watches as he sees Wally's eyes darken and as much as he should be afraid, he couldn't pull his eyes away.
"You don't have a right. Neither of you have the right to talk to him." Wally stepped forward. "Who I like or hangout with are my choice." Wally glares and Klarion was surprised to see static appearing around him but quickly backed away when he smelled the animosity of an alpha arise from wally. He backed away as he saw the two shaking from the threat. "Artemis, don't go near Klarion at all. Don't Even look at him."
Klarion goes when he hears the bell ring and hurries off to meet Mr. Napier in the car. All he can think about was Wally wasn't normal, he started to think Wally was a meta-human but didn't know how to tell what he was. He wasn't scared, he was surprised. He didn't know whether he was happy he wasn't alone or bothered why he didn't tell him. When he got there he knelt down and ended the spell and stood up making it look normal as he could as Jack walked up.
"You beat me to the car. Pretty good Klarion." Jack walks up and sees Klarion was thinking about something. "Something on your mind?" Jack asked
"... can Wally give me a ride to the library?" Klarion asks, he can already tell by the look of dismay it will be a no.
"Why may I ask? He seems like he's in trouble." Jack crosses his arms, the stern gaze challenging a narrow gaze back.
"Because I wish to talk to him and we have the same class together and thought he and I can work together. Can you tell me why I can't talk with him or be close? I thought making friends would be something that is helpful to look less noncompliance-"
"Inconspicuous-"
"You know I meant inconspicuous. So why not wally?" He placed his hands on his hips, challenging him.
Jack rubbed his head. "Klarion, I can't say why but trust-"
"How can I when you can't trust me? Look whatever it is, why can't you let me figure that out myself? You told me I have to earn your trust but how can I if you can't give me a chance much less tell me more than what you're telling me? Unless you don't know as much. So much for a detective."
Jack glares at him, his eyes turning purple. "Poking the bear won't make it better."
"And not telling me the whole truth is any better." Klarion hisses back before he leaves. "Can you at least let me walk alone!?" He shouted before leaving.
Jack shook his head annoyed by the brat.
"The boy sure knows how to get on your nerves."
Jack glares at the man walking up and behind him was Joseph. "And to think it couldn't get any worse. So did Lex send you or did you want to see a new apprentice, Wilson?" He narrows his eyes.
"Can a friend just lend a hand? I heard he's a handful and to think he's as stubborn as you." Slade smirks.
"At least he knows not to trust easily. If you are here to try to win him, I suggest you give up. You are not going to manipulate him." Jack glares.
"Why is that jack? Are you going to take him on as an apprentice? To think I saw enough you rather not deal with him."
"At least I can see it as a whole, not half blindly." Jack gets in the car and drives off.
Slade however, only smirk. "Joseph, do what you can to win klarion. Follow him." Slade spoke as Joseph left.
Klarion grumbles in his walk. "What right can he tell me who I can and can't talk to?" He mumbles but hears a bike and hears it slowing. Klarion kept quiet but when they got close Klarion began to run.
"Hey, it's me!!" Wally shouted.
Klarion stopped and turned to see Wally on a motorbike but wore a helmet and goggles.
Klarion crosses his arms as Wally turns the bike off.
"Up for a ride?" Wally grins at him.
Klarion raised a brow but looked to the sky feeling it might rain. Then he couldn’t help but think about it earlier. “Won't your girlfriend be upset?”
“Last I checked, I’m single. Don’t tell me you never thought of riding on a motorbike?” Wally hands a spare helmet for the goth to take.
Klarion only chuckles and takes the helmet. "Not the slightest but it is shivering to trust someone with your life."
"Isn't that better to earn your trust?" Wally asked.
Klarion was quiet before he chuckled and smiled. "I'll give you that." He puts on the helmet and gets on. He wraps his arms around Wally by the waist. Despite everything, he just wants to forget about it earlier. "Take me to the library… please?"
"Your wish is my command!" Wally starts the bike on and sped off.
Klarion was not scared, he always enjoyed the thrill of adrenaline rush but It's different when you're trusting your life to someone. Klarion with the scarf over his mouth couldn't help but cling more to the ginger. He didn't know why Mr. Napier distrust Wally so easily. Was it because Wally's possibly a meta? He wraps around him tightly at the thought
"Scared?!" Wally asked.
"Not even! Just a bit surprised from the cut turn." Klarion looks out as they see they were already at the library. Klarion got off and took off the helmet but was still in deep thought to ask or say.
"Something on your mind?" Wally asked.
".... if you were to hide something from me, would you tell me eventually or never." Klarion spoke rather than ask.
"Would you be madder if it's something you'll not want to believe? Did something happen?" The ginger got close as the raven haired simply shook his head. "Just thinking out too much. So… you got me smiling more than I thought…." He hid his face under the scarf.
Wally only smiles. "As my prize, I'll tell you on a later date. For now let me help you do some research on bleak."
Klarion was quiet, he didn't know how or why but wally made him annoyed and yet comfortable at the same time. Annoyed he can't tell that he's hiding something yet comfortable to be around to talk to and hangout with. He ignored the pulse on his wrist.
"Right while I work…. Wally." Klarion spoke to Wally and smiled. "Thanks. Let's head in." Klarion took Wally's hand and hurried inside the library.
When they entered, the library did not have modern styles or even designs like any libraries wally has seen back at central city. It was practically old fashioned and looks almost as if the speedster walked into the past had there not been any computers.
"I gotta go clock in but I'll try to find any information about Bleak when I can." Klarion goes to the desk as Wally goes to the possible sources and looks to see they have a records hall but it's locked. He could ask klarion but then he might not have the key so he'll have to come back on a later date or tonight.
45 minutes since
"This is not as easy as I had hoped. The Bleak family and many others were witches that were forced to leave due to their supposed worship to "Devil's work". Wally could tell he might get more from the records but he'd have to look it up after. That was when he saw klarion bringing books to put away. "You know they should be giving you a cart to carry the books for you."
"I like carrying the books and the cart has a broken wheel." Klarion shrugs as he puts the book in its place.
"Is that recent?" Wally asked.
"Not sure." Klarion shrugs again while he goes to put the other books away.
Wally couldn't tell if he was mad at the broken cart or the aloof care Klarion has. "When's your lunch break?"
"I only work for 3 hours so a 15 minute at 4:15-"
"I'll be back! Wally was already out as klarion just went to work. When it was almost 10 to his break, he made his way to the records room. Klarion looked around before he attempted to check on the doors and saw they locked it.
"Not surprising. Usually they keep this lock up ". He, using his magic, gets ready to unlock it.
"Klarion!! You are needed!"
Klarion groans before he goes to see who needed him only to see it.
"What do you want?" He glares to see artemis there.
"I need a book." She spoke.
"Take your pick, we're in a library." Klarion points out with his hands.
Artemis glares. "I need to see records on Salem for a research paper."
"Can't it's locked. You'll need the librarian for that. If that's all-"
"Then I need a book on witches." Artemis added.
Klarion only shows her and brings her to the section but he keeps his distance from her.
Artemis watches him glare but holds out the gem only to find it dull. But she didn't buy it. Instincts told her he was hiding something and from what she can tell, he's hiding it under those bandages.
"How long have you worked here?" She asked.
"Why asking? We're not friends and sure as carp we're not even acquaintances." Klarion stops pointing to the top but arms length. "Here is what you're looking for. I'm outta here." He walked the other way but felt her grip his arm.
"Let go." Klarion growls but couldn't use his alpha scent to make her let go when it also gives off his omega scent. Talk about carpy luck. He pushes her off and goes to leave when she twisted him and pinned him, his back to the shelves and her foot on his stomach. Klarion however didn't back down and kept kicking her away, he wasn't a professional but he could hold his own in a fight. "Seriously! What the heck is your deal?!" He dodges again and dive down and punches her in the gut. He would admit he added more power in the punch, making Artemis gasped from the hit and felt the kick was harder than she thought. Just as Artemis was going to throw a punch the librarian came in
"Klarion!" She shouted, eyeing him in disgust as were others looking to see. The librarian saw this glare at the .
"Klarion, I need you to leave."
"I will do you better. I quit." Klarion spoke coldly and pale to see Wally coming.
Klarion couldn't look up, he was worried what Wally would say..
"Wally I need to-" Artemis reaches for him but stands still when Wally walks past her.
"Miss, Klarion didn't attack her. She assaulted him first and did what he could to defend himself." Wally stood firm by the goth.
"But he still attack her-"
"How would-" Wally stops when Klarion stops him. "It's not worth it, and I would rather not work for a mold infested library anymore. I'll quietly get my things and go." Klarion takes Wally's hand.
Wally takes it as a sign to leave it be and follows him to the front and sees Klarion grabs his bag and walks with Wally.
"Can we go somewhere away from here?" Klarion asked but not looking at Wally.
"Is there a place you want to go? Somewhere you feel comfortable?" Wally asked him, he could suggest going to the cabin but he can't make him feel cornered.
Klarion was quiet before looking at Wally and showed him where on the map using his phone.
"We'll get there quickly." Wally walks over to his bike with Klarion. He grabs a helmet to hand him before putting on his own. Klarion puts the scarf on before putting on the helmet and sitting behind him and they sped off.
Artemis watches Wally go with that goth kid through the window before looking down at the tracker showing on her phone where they are heading off.
"Dick any chance you found anything on your side?"
"No but it doesn't make sense. There is a high reading of chaos energy but it's not showing the center of the most energy. It's like the host is emitting so much but how can lord fate not find them?" Dick asks out looking through the town center.
"What if they don't know themselves?" Conner spoke through the comm as he was walking around the neighborhood. He knows it's Klarion after getting close. He had spar with Zatanna before and when he got shocked by klarion, it was magic that weakened him. But he didn't want to tell his team because he saw how Wally looks at Klarion but it feels possessive but can't really describe it.
"That makes sense but still, our job is to find them and capture them." Dick spoke.
"We best keep cautious." Kaldur'ahm spoke as he walked by the port and saw M'gann looking sad after her talk with Conner. He saw Conner argue with M'gann and after she looked like a wounded puppy. "Anyone know where Wally is?"
"With a resident here." Artemis answers. "I'm tracking him."
"He knows not to flirt with a girl while on the job."
"Not a girl." Artemis growls, making almost all of them stop.
"What?"
Sunrise forest river 4:28pm.
Klarion was sitting by the edge where the river flows through.
"You know this is pretty nice."
Klarion looks to Wally as he comes back and brings food which was a large chili fries.
"Have you been here?"
"This is my first time coming here. Before I had to be at a time at the orphanage. It's different and I can't really explain it." Klarion watches out, it doesn't feel warm as he thought but he can't understand why come here.
Wally looks out. "You know I haven't been to the beach since my freak accident."
Klarion listens as Wally continues. "It was on a day I was meeting my uncle Barry and I was happy to see him and," he pauses before taking a deep breath.
"I did something crazy that same day. I was attempting to surf but hit too close to a reef and got a bad scar."
Klarion looked at him. "Were you 8 years old?" He asked and couldn't think why or understand that number popped in his head.
"Yep and well, I got a nasty scar." Wally looks out. "It may look good on alphas but sometimes it feels different, reminded of a bad memory."
Klarion looked at him before hesitated and then spoke. "I burned my arm on purpose. I didn’t do it by accident."
Wally looked at him before looking out. "I can't relate but I can understand if you let me. I'm pretty sure you had your reasons why."
"It was stupid because it didn't change anything. Klarion stops and looks down. "I'm sorry I can't talk about it. I don't want to see you pity me." He looks down before feeling something heavy on him.
"I am not pitying you, I mean you're doing robotics and even magic! That's amazing! You're strong and brave and fun, you practically can take care of yourself. If I get to see your arm, I bet it looks badass."
Klarion hesitated but unties it revealing the burn scars around his arm but wally could see what he was hiding. The revealing red mark but it was hard to tell from the scarring.
"Does it hurt?" Wally asked.
"No but it's healing better thanks to my guardian." He sighs and thinks about it. "I should tell him about my job before they call him."
"Want me to give you some privacy?" The speeder asked and the goth nodded. The second Wally walked over he checked his bike. He felt a bit off and found what he knew was obvious. A tracker.
He was thinking he should destroy it or put it on something and give her a wild chase but instead place it on a tree. He'll deal with artemis later, right now he wants to spend as much time with klarion before that guardian comes to spoil it. He walks back just as he sees Klarion putting his phone down as it rings.
"Scammer number?" Wally asked as he sat down.
"If that's what you call a guardian then yeah. He and I argued earlier about trust."
"Ah, the classic number one issue between people. Was it him not trusting you." Wally lies back but has his arms behind his head as he looks to klarion before gazing out at the stars slowly coming out in the night sky.
"More like both of us distrust each other. I don't get how I am at fault for that, he hasn't seen what I can do! Even be capable of hiding my magic!" Klarion lies back ignoring the sand.
"Well that's the thing with adults as parents. Sometimes they don't always trust you not because you'll do bad, but I think it's more because they're afraid of you getting hurt." Wally sighs. "Especially getting into accidents that can change your life in seconds." Wally frowns thinking about his own actions. "I can't say your guardian is the same, but at least he cares enough to call you to see if you're ok."
Klarion looks at his friend and thinks about it before hearing his phone ring again before answering.
"Hello Mr. Napier, I'm fine."
"Where are you?"
"Hanging out with a friend." Klarion sat up and thought about it before telling him where. "I'm at the sunrise in the forest river." He hears a pause and a deep breath.
"Is there somewhere after you want me to pick you up?"
Klarion looked at Wally and saw him nod. "There is but I don't have the exact address yet. I'll message you after I get there."
"Alright then. Be safe."
Klarion hears him hang up before lying back. "Thanks."
"Hey you're my friend and I know you want to take the kitten's home. But It'll be so lonely without them." Wally sighed.
"How about… coming over to my place this weekend and you can take them home for the week and I come everyday… can I keep teekl with me?" Klarion asked.
Wally nods as he gets up. "Let's head to my cabin. That hat way you and I can spend time with the kitten's and their mom before your guardian shows up. I'm pretty sure the second you text him, he'll be driving like a speed demon."
Klarion got up before thinking about it. "Wally."
"Yeah?" Wally stretches.
Klarion pauses before shaking the question away. "What's your favorite thing to do?" He walks with Wally as he beams and tells him all about his favorite show.
At the cabin 5:30pm.
It took a bit coming to the cabin but klarion rushes in to see the kitten's were happy to see him and he hugs each one but his smile widens when he sees teekl.
"Teekl!" He hugs the kitten to his chest as he hears her purrs.
Wally walks in and couldn't help but smile and watch the scene before getting a call from Dick and goes to the other room to the bathroom.
"Speed services, we aim to break the speed of light." Wally jokes.
"Wally, where have you been? Why haven't you reported back?"
"I was getting a tour guide all around. So far nothing." Wally answers.
".... Artemis said you were with someone. You know you can't get distracted."
"Well I can't help it if he's cute while he and I like the same stuff. By the way, it was rude that she put a tracker on my bike."
"You know she's just concerned about you. We all are. For all we know he could be a problem-"
"Dick you're my friend but you're being a real dick. Did she tell you she attacked and harassed him? To the point he lost his job? You told us to keep a low profile, not to cause trouble and I'm the one getting warned?"
"She didn't tell me-"
"I gotta go." Wally hangs up and takes a deep breath before coming back and sees klarion feeding the kittens as he gives teekl milk. But as he looked at the ginger, klarion frowned.
"Did something happen? You look pissed off."
Wally felt the tug on his wrist but couldn't tell Klarion the truth yet. Klarion, seeing wally trying to calm down, thought of something and took out his old journal before taking the ginger's hand. "Can you trust me with my magic?"
Wally nodded without a second thought or hesitated.
"I used this spell when there was this kid I grew up with had a lot of insomnia so she was nice to let me use this spell to help her ease her mind without messing it up."
Wally was surprised as Klarion sat on the couch. "Lay your head on my lap."
Wally blushes. "Not that I'm happy-"
"No flirting right now, I'm being serious plus it's easier to focus on one part of you."
"So what other part would you focus-" but wally couldn't finish the sentence when he dodges the pillow.
"On second thought just sit next to me." Klarion crosses his arms.
Wally grumbles before he listens and klarion holds his hands out and explains what he will do. "I was going to help relieve some energy with you laying down but I don't want you sleeping on me so this way you're relaxed but I gotta warn you if you have a lot of energy, it may take a while. So please keep quiet." Klarion spoke and Wally nodded. Klation held his head as he began to cast it, he focused on the excess stress and kept his focus on Wally.
Wally closed his eyes and felt everything washed away like waves coming in and pull back with his anger and stress. He tried not to focus on Klarion but all he could think about was the faint smell of brimstone and rain and something sweet. When it was over, the speedster looked up and blushed feeling so relaxed, he fell over on klarion. "I think it worked too well…."
Klarion tried to push him off but he was a bit tired from the spell. "You're heavy." Klarion just leans back feeling Wally's Weight On him. "You'll be able to move in 5 minutes." He won't admit it, but laying with Wally like this, kinda felt nice. He noticed Wally's scent was strong but his scent reminded him of lightning after it hit the ground and gave this exhilarating feeling that he couldn't help but feel familiar. Klarion pushes Wally off only to find him asleep but sees the kitten's all climbing him and mewing. Klarion sees teekl laying on the gingers' chest and chuckles before taking a picture.
After taking the picture, he gets up and picks up teekl but sees Wally slowly waking up and yawns. "What time is it?"
Klarion looks at the ticking clock. "It's 5:48 but you were asleep for 4 min. How do you feel?"
Wally stretches and grins. "That felt really good. Like I slept for a day."
"I can tell, you fell asleep on me." Klarion stood up and stretched as much as he could.
"It's too bad you can't stay over. Pretty sure your guardian will either kill me or make sure we can't see each other." Wally holds the kittens in his arms.
"I need to ask, why do you flirt with me when we're barely friends?" Klarion gets his bag and pets a few of the kittens.
"I like you and I flirt when it helps make you laugh. I admit, I sometimes use corny stuff, my Uncle told me to win anyone's heart, make them laugh."
"So I'm someone you want to win?" Klarion raises a brow and wally shakes his head. "No!!- I mean not i- I mean I like you - I would-" Wally was having a hard time talking and explaining before Klarion had to calm him.
"I think I get what you're saying, but it's a little early to say I like you when I only know little about ypu. Let's stay as friends and go from there."
Wally would say otherwise but the problem is he knew more than he led on, especially about Klarion's family lineage… which is harder to find out because he doesn't know where they live. "Alright but can I still flirt with you?"
Klarion couldn't get why but he knows one thing about the mysterious meta: he won't take no and yet at the same time the witch doesn't want him to stop. "Alright then, if it makes you not pester me later." He crosses his arms but he couldn't help but smile seeing the ginger grinning like an idiot.
Wally grins like a cat that caught the canary and they soon hear a car honk and klarion recognize the horn.
"That's probably Mr. Napier, my guardian." Klarion grabs his bag and teekl but thinks about it. "Maybe we can have the kittens and the cat stay here so I can come here." He asked and Wally smiled. "Yes and I did say this can be your home too, which it is no matter what."
Klarion smiles and holds teekl as she mews and curls into his sweater. Just as he was ready to go, he did the one thing he didn't think he would do. He gave Wally a hug before heading out.
"Goodnight Wally."
Klarion leaves and carries teekl but as he walks, he wraps her in the sweater as he sees Mr. Napier waiting outside by the car.
"I got a call from the library." Jack spoke, opening the door for him.
Klarion winces but sees the older man wasn't upset. "You're not mad…?"
"It'll be easier to train you without a problem. After the call, I think you need to learn self defense and how to fight when in a situation. Being a target, you will be in danger especially if people will be coming after."
Klarion gets in and puts his seat belt on. "So I'm not in trouble."
Jack shook his head but looks to teekl and could tell the kitten was his anchor. "Is this teekl?" He asked.
"Yep and she's pretty cute." Klarion holds up the small kitten who mews away.
Jack only nods but to see the anchor found was more than better. It means klarion is more safe.
"Tell me what exactly happened?"
Wally listens through the headphones as he does his homework.
"As I was gonna break into the records, I was going to-"
"Klarion what were important in there."
"Personal project for school."
Wally couldn't help but smile, Klarion doesn't trust this napier as he hoped. 'This could be useful.'
"And this blonde girl who seems obsessed with my arm."
"..... Did she see what was on your arm? Anyone else?"
Wally could hear the alertness in his tone and for a moment felt his heart stop.
"No one saw it. But I had to use some magic as a boost to get her off. What is so important about my arm?"
"Possibly to see whether or not you have a wounded arm."
Wally glared out as he can tell this guy knew more than he lead on.
"Are you sure about that? She was fighting to expose my arm-"
"Is your soulmate mark on your wrist?"
Wally was frozen in place but his heart and his wrist felt they were sparking.
".... Yes. It's the only part I didn't… I couldn't let burn."
Wally felt his chest warming up hearing him say that.
"It could be she wanted to know whether you have his initials there or not."
".... Wait do you know-"
"Your expression says it all. I can't say if it's possible, or close, but you should be careful. Especially around Wally."
"What is so bad having him as a friend? It's not like he's gonna hurt me."
Wally felt his heart twist. He doesn't want to hurt him, nor lose him. The idea he loses his other half, would be beyond what he can describe.
"It's not him I'm concerned about."
Wally hears what he can assume is the car pause.
In the car
Jack stops and took a deep a deep breath, memories he tried to bury, only burst in his heart.
"I fear the lord of fate will use him, or kill him in front of you."
Klarion stiffened but listened.
"I had someone I loved." He grips the wheel tightly. "But I lost her, and my son. Batman took them away."
"Maybe you can find them. I mean he took them to keep-"
"They're dead. Burn to death." He cuts him off; he couldn't let him see his eyes change. "I may be suspicious of Wally because I don't trust what can happen. My job is to keep you safe, but I also can see what lies ahead because I know what it's like to lose someone. I don't want to see that happen to you."
Klarion held teekl close. "Can you teach me to protect wally?" He asked. "I don’t know if he is or isn't, but I want to protect my friend."
Jack didn't know whether to feel proud or hurt, seeing some reflection of himself in the boy, but merely nodded.
"Tomorrow we begin at 9 am." Jack spoke starting to drive.
Klarion holds teekl and smiles a bit. "Does that mean I have to be dressing up like a lowly magician?"
"No."
"Thank goodness. No offense." Klarion added and Jack only chuckled as he drove.
On the other side,
".... I don't want to see that happen to you."
Wally stops before he had to reprocess what he heard.
"Batman… murdered?" He took off the headphones before he began doing his search on Napier and after a few searches found one.
"A pregnant woman was found… burned alive in a fire. Police say it was a gas leak… Gotham city....." He sat back thinking before typing away and looked for anything until he found it.
"The notorious Red Hood, a vigilant thief, sought by Batman but fell into a pit of toxic waste. 'There was no way to save him.' says the hero. 'He wouldn't refuse to give up until he tripped and fell to his death. No villain….'" Wally sat back remembering how dick was talking about it a year ago, before being part of the young justice. He remembered that red hood was some dangerous man that escaped so easily, that rival batman but got what he deserved and made redhood an example.
Wally lies back not feeling so good. Then his thoughts led to klarion. 'Would fate give Klarion a chance?'
He had to believe it. He got up and stood before calming himself. "I'll make it work. I'll get Klarion to join our good guys, and then he will be with me!" He states and looks at the kitten's and they all mew. Wally smiles before he feels a small hint of worry. He decided to hear everything else but smiles hearing how klarion was determined to protect him made his heart skip a few beats and static spark.
Just as he went back to working on homework, he got a text from klarion that he got home. He replies back.
W: Awww! You miss me already?
K: Not really but I thought I'd let you know.
W: ○n○
K: …
K: I get to learn how to self defend myself tomorrow.
W: that's good to know.
Klarion didn't know whethervhe was meaningful or mad so he types away.
K: Would you be happy if I came over after practice, and watched a marathon with you?
W:
K: I'll throw in cooking…?
W: I also want cuddles.
K: And I thought kittens were the only ones I spoiled. Alright but after I talk to you about something. Letting teekl walk around the house.
W:😁😙. Have a goodnight!!
Klarion only smiles as he sat back on his bed and began reading his grimoire.
Meanwhile
Teekl mews as she walks around curious about her surroundings when she takes a turn to a big room and sees a floaty ghost with scary man.
"Klarion got into a fight he didn't even make."
Teekl looks at the scary man but goes over to nuzzle his leg.
"Did he win?' The shiny bald man asked.
"He held his own against the taskmaster kid, but lost his job. Some kid named Wally West defended him."
Teekl can tell the scary man doesn't like him but she doesn't know why. To her, Papa gave the best scratches.
"Wally West? Why does that name sound familiar?"
"He's the nephew of the flash. That brat I despise."
"Flash's brat, he almost caught you."
She mews curiously before being picked up and facing the scary man before holding her.
"And I can safely say klarion found his anchor. This is teekl."
She purrs at the scratches and mews more.
"Klarion found his familiar. That is good news. Did you find anything about Klarion's parents? If we can find about them, we can make sure they won't take him away. Or worse, be in work with fate."
"Nothing yet but if I can get a hold of something, even initials."
Teekl perks before thinking about papa when he was looking at his wrist. If she shows angry man a hint, he won't be mean to papa! And daddy can be safe. Teekl meows loudly before padding at the angry man's wrist.
"Teekl are you hungry? That brat-" he pauses before thinking about the brat being close to klarion. "Thank you Teekl. Perhaps that brat can be useful. If he has Klarion's initials, that can get me a lead."
"Why do you think he has Klarion's initials?"
"Because lex, what else does a boy like him want with Klarion aside from being his friend or rather why Klarion will go against me about him?" Jack asked.
"Or you just want to find another reason to keep klarion away from the brat. I mean if I was his father, I wouldn't let him coerce-"
"He is my ward, and as his f- guardian, he shouldn't be around the likes of that brat." Jack glared before taking teekl out and placing her down. "Go explore more." Before closing the door
At the cabin
Wally listens to what teekl heard and smirks. "Teekl you made my plan better." He sat up and began typing away and sent to Napier's phone
*while during the bike ride Wally made sure his phone copied Klarion's info.
Jack as he talks to lex about the plan, he gets a message. As soon as he read it, his eyes were stern.
"I gotta go." Before leaving to his room.
—-‐—--------------------------‐-‐–‐—-----
"7:15pm a mile from the house.
Jack as Red Hood stood by and sees appear kid flash.
"Kid flash."
"So you're really the Red Hood. Robin wasn't kidding."
"Tell me why did you drag me out here? You said you have evidence to Klarion's parents."
"I did but I didn't say I was gonna give it up. At least not for a price."
"I know what you want, but we both know my answer. No."
"Not even to keep Klarion safe? Some guardian you are." Kid flash sat while the older vigilante stood firm.
"What do you gain from this? Here you are bargaining for more time with Klarion when you can have anything else."
"What would I get from all that?" Kid flash got up. "I already have connections and if I want to, call Batman here to find you-"
"But you didn't. You know it'll only lead to Klarion…." Jack pauses before thinking and knew. "You don't want to let his parents find him either. Because you know how much Klarion wants to know, even possible, wants to find them. But is there something else to this? From the way you're gripping your hands. You're possessive."
Kid Flash zoom just as he was was going to Attack he was imprisoned in place.
"I had a friend set up traps. Even outside my home." Jack smirk behind his helmet.
Wally glares down at the man as he was frozen in place.
Jack moves to check on the initials to find,
"K. B. Anything else?" He presses the pattern, unfreezes the speedster. "Tell me whatever you know or the other traps will react to your moves."
Wally glared and known to be a rival to Batman, he had to tread lightly. "Let me hang out more with him and let him come over at my place." Kid Flash crossed his arms.
"... one hour with supervision and he only spends Sunday night till 12."
"4 hours without it and spending the weekend over."
"2 hours and only sunday."
"2 and a half and I'll take sunday."
"Deal. Now Spill."
Wally grins before telling him. "Bleak, last name Bleak. I was gonna sneak into the library to find out more but I thought who better Than you? Maybe even ask klarion if he wanted me to hang out?"
Jack glares. "Wouldn't it be odd if you come to see him right now? He'll think you're a stalker. Not far from the truth."
"I have our kittens, he loves alot, at my place. What's to say he won't come to me?" He held his hands up when Red pulled a gun out. "Not pushing my luck."
"I'm giving you 10 seconds to leave." He clicked the safety lock off.
Wally zooms out as Jack growls, realizing Klarion said he'll want to see Wally after practice. *But getting the name Bleak, it's a start.* He massage his head thinking of all people, klarion had to be tied with him. Then a thought came to mind.
How much does that brat know about Klarion? Why hasn't he told him? Aside not telling the team, what does he aim at all?
why not go and snuff the answers out! hahahahaha!
Jack pauses and looks to the shadow who looks back.
I wonder~ how it be to burn a witch! Hahahahahahah!!
"I thought I locked you away." Jack glares down and began walking.
Oh Jacky! Aren't you happy to see me?! Happy as a clam!!!
The laugh echoed around Jack as he kept moving. "You know you can't take over Joker. You lost that privilege after you killed that kid."
Oh don't get too pasty, We both did it. We took a vow to kill all those that took our wife and son. Seem like you have a new one and what a twist!! A chaos entity!!
Jack stops and narrows his eyes.
"How did you know?"
Now jack-
"Tell me!" He shouted and sees his shadows silhouette grin that heinous grin.
Why just by looking at him. Such pain that kid went and thought he could escape by playing with fire?.... hahhahahahahahahahha!! What a foolish boy! Reminds me of a foolish man. Had you not brought her in that mess, she would be happy without you.
"Shut up." Jack clench his hand
I wonder will you slip with this kid!? Will you try to save him! Oh the wonders! You-
Jack step back when the tree incinerated and the shadow was gone. For now. Jack turn and sees klarion panting.
"Klarion, what are you doing out here?" He took off the helmet and went to check on him. "You shouldn't-"
"Who was he?" Klarion asked. "That shadow, why was he saying those things?"
Jack pauses, wondering how much he saw.
"You left the stove on and the food overcooked. I used a spell to track you and I heard you shout and saw you talking to that annoying shadow. What is he?" Klarion was a bit drained but not as bad as earlier. Maybe it was getting used to using so much.
Jack merely helps him stand. "Someone I hate. A part of me that I regret meeting. For now he's gone and let's see what can be salvaged."
Klarion was quiet but followed him but part of him couldn't help but felt it wasn't the last time he'll see him.
Coming back in Jack groans to find it a mess. Klarion had a thought but it was cut off when Jack stops him. "I will clean this up. My mess."
"I'm too wide awake anyway." Klarion grabs a mop. "Besides you owe me an explanation. Why were you out there in your costume?"
"Getting information about the young justice. They are either here or close. I am assuming they are already here but luckily haven't found you."
"Young justice? Sounds like a poorly named club." Klarion jokes as he mops around the stove. "So they work for the justice lords."
"A faction under them but mainly batman's. He is someone you don't want to fight off or robin. There are a few others that are apprentice to each lord except wonder woman." He added as he cleans the stove.
"Are they dangerous?" Klarion asked.
"Not really, but if they were in danger, the lords would come. Especially the lord of fate." Jack goes to see if any restaurant does take out when they hear a knock on the door.
Jack grabs his gun and goes to check to see the peephole and shakes his head.
"You're early Constantine." Jack opens the door as the blond man and a tall shark king walks in.
"We brought dinner." The blonde man spoke. "Besides I felt a strong hit and had to check for me self." Constantine walks past as king shark followed him while Jack just shakes his head.
"No worries, babe had eaten earlier. I brought chinese food!" Constantine shouted.
Jack only shook his head as he followed him and sees Constantine was at a stare down with Klarion in the living room.
Jack was about to step in when King shark stopped him. "Can't interfere."
Klarion stared down at Constantine before Constantine was pushed off as king shark caught him as the walls cracked.
"Blimey! You got a good kick in ya kid. But if I 'ere you, I'd be careful how much you put in." Constantine snapped his fingers as he fixed the damages. "Constantine, one of yer teachers' kid."
Klarion relaxed a bit and looked at the shark. "Are you another teacher too?"
"He's my boyfriend and my bodyguard to keep watch o'er me." Constantine smiles. "You see Jack here called in a favor and I called someone too to help with me to teach ya in the ways of magic. You see I dabble in a lot of things but I'm not familiar with alot of things. Only yer other teacher can help ye thre." Constantine helps king shark set the stuff down. "For now let's eat and I'll answer as many as I can." Constantine smiles as he walks with king shark to the dining room to put all the take out as teekl comes in but goes to bite the shark but klarion catches her and takes her to feed her fish he'll bring her seeing her teething his hand.
"No biting guests teekl." Klarion mumbles before petting her.
"I brought boiled fish fer the little kit. Jack told me ye got a familiar, though I thought it be something scary."
"Teekl is very special." Klarion held her close. "She was the last kitten to be born but for a moment she was…" he stops holding her close.
"Hey hey, it's all 'ight. I didn't mean no wron'. I can tell she's got some kicks in her. But she's yer tether to this world as far as I can see. Huh, at least haf. You got a special one?"
Klarion froze, trying to ignore that pulse in his wrist. Just as he was tense he saw the blonde man laugh. "Messing with ya! Ye can't just give it so easy, could only offer it willingly."
Constantine smiles. "Like you did fer furball ther."
"Her names teekl." The young witch retorts hearing her hiss at the blonde. "So doe that mean she has magic?" He asked curiously.
"Yes and no." He takes a container and hands it to him. "Let's say yer a guitar, she's yer Amp. She can only give out as much as ye play. The louder ye play, the boost she plays out and helps ye music last longer. But say someone pulls your connection off, ye can still play but she can't do anything, and even when ye play, you burn out quick. See the picture?"
"Kinda. So if I had a human familiar, what happens?"
"Now that's a bit tricky. Say there is one, it'll be a symbiotic one. Ye give as does the other take and give. But this is where it's tricky." He walks back showing two cups.
Jack and king shark who got a sit, watch.
Constantine pours two cup same amount. "Say one gives more than the 'ther, that said one with more has more a boost. But the 'ther," he pouts half of a half. "Has less. Now that's where it's tricky but say you got a meta partner or a familiar. If that meta has power then that said user gets a boost and then some. But that isn't whatcha ask. If that connection is broken, it can be painful and even dangerous. It's why that kit is a better anchor/familiar. Partners are a tricky thing but also dangerous. But if they were close to your power, even a rival, it be better."
Klarion was surprised and looked to teekl and let her down with the container of deboned fish.
"Do you know what marks means?" Klarion asked.
"After we eat. I'll see the mark me self and tell ya then. But first eat, yer thin as a stick!" Constantine serves himself as did Klarion but neither knew someone was listening in.
Wally listens hearing everything before thinking of something.
*that would explain a few things better.* He thought before his mind went to Klarion but heard his words. "Teekl was a stillborn. That's why Klarion so protective of her. He frowns thinking how much it pained him. He couldn't imagine it but then he thought how it would be interesting if he and Klarion did partner that way. Not only are they connected but could he have a deeper connection to his witch? He thought about it and smiled. "Definitely want to be his. I could care less if he sucked me dry, I want him to be with me." He lies back as he took notes about everything
Elsewhere.
Slade watches everything and listens.
"Imagine that, so there is an upside to being connected to him but how exactly does it work?" Slade hums. Jericho was not exactly a soldier per say but he was just as good as his other siblings but neither had the compatibility, he tried it with an old relic of the previous lord of chaos he had from his sources. He hums, pondering how. "Perhaps… he could be better as an apprentice and if Jericho does well, a new member of the Wilson clan." He hums but looks at the recent images of that wally boy. He felt he knew him somewhere but where?
"For now, I need to do a bit more digging on the witch and his past."

Chapter Text
Klarion sat in his bed, feeling bored but anxious to the point he was floating in mid air along with his bed. He wasn't anxious because of a stupid test or a project due on monday or even the fact that after learning there's a psychotic, pompous, justifying wizard with a bucket on his head after him and even to kill him! No, there was something more important to him than anything else.
Teekl was not here, but in the hands of a hobo looking man who drinks and has a shark for a boyfriend.
He took a deep breath before cutting off the spell and everything fell due to gravity, and shook the room a bit but the young witch, not minding the shakes, was trying his best to not interfere with johns’ promise. “But it’s so hard! What if my magic gets canceled and teekl dies again? Or it messes up and still kills teekl?” He was not used to this feeling of fear. Granted, he had fear when he was a kid, he had fear when he got hurt; but it was not permanent. He had long gave up hope but teekl was special, she was the first spell that went perfect and the only few he saved was grateful to him. He curled to the headboard and frowned. He wondered what to do till he thought back to what he went through in the last hour.
45 minutes earlier,
Klarion ate his plate, mostly broccoli beef and mongolian chicken with chow mein, but his mind was consumed to finally getting his answers about himself. Possibly even getting the truth of his lineage and who he might be from.
“You know you should be enjoying yourself while yer eating Jack.'' John spoke between bites.
“Manners John, and I would be if it was for another reason. Right now you have information that can help Klarion in his training and understanding the situation.”
John looks to both Jack and Klarion, both were two peas in a pod with their mind about the situation but yet somehow they weren’t related. “Alright, let's get to business shall we?” He puts his plate down, expecting drinks to be put out. But that hope dies as Jack gives him a look that says “no alcohol with a kid in the room” or none in general.
“So yer gonna make me talk while being sober, that helps? Not even a little sip?” John pleaded but the said detective shook his head and was not budging at all.
“A’right fine!” john grumbles some words too low to hear before he sat back in his seat. “So where is this mark?” He asked. He had to guess it was probably by his arm. It's rare to have a mark- he paled to see the distinguished mark of chaos on his chest and it had to be the unique mark of no ordinary chaos lord. He was THE incarnate of chaos. Before there were incarnations of lords of chaos, but none were tethered to the source of chaos like Klarion is. This was a game changer and he could sense Klarion was a powerful wielder of chaos meaning he did one or few of the 7 wonders of magic so easily. He had to know what they were but he had guessed Klarion was able to do necromancy but beyond just raising the dead.
“Kid,” he paused, not feeling the best at this. “Yer in grave danger with that mark. This mark is the highest of chaos. The prime as I may say. The tether to the source of chaos. You bearing the mark means you are the sole connection to it and the very last one.”
Klarion froze in place looking shocked at the fact being the last. “Wait, I’m the last as if there isn’t anyone else? No, as in no relatives?” he asked, not liking this answer.
“I'm not sure about that, but to wield chaos means there is no more connection to that magic. Kid you are literally a user without lacking power- as a powerful witch without any holdbacks.” he added and can see these were not the exact answers he hoped. “Kid, i’m not sure about your family but it's best you don't try to reach out to them with your situation. Not with around ready to attack you and searching for you.”
Klarion was quiet and not long shrug off that feeling he had for the moment. “It didn’t matter anyway, they didn’t want me then, they won’t search me now. I knew it was a waste of time.” He mumbles.
Jack watches before stopping himself from saying something that can make it worse.
John continued explaining the predicament the young witch is in. “As I was saying, you are, as far as I know, the last of the chaos lords that are connected to the source of chaos. You are in a way the last chosen champion to fight and keep the balance between sides. Unfortunately, you are alone in the sense there are no other wielders to teach you to connect to chaos, but you have others that can teach you and show you the ropes.”
Klarion listens and holds teekl. “Why do the justice lords want me?” The witch looks at John before looking to jack. “Why not let me live being oblivious to it all?”
“ They are working with , the lord of faith. The side of order who seeks what is right and perfect to the universe. But I have a feeling they have something planned for their projects. Something that even doesn’t know." John then paused drinking his close to alcohol, caffeine. “Plus there is a sense that fate and destiny aligns us to our purpose in life. But you, however, are not tied to that. In fact, having and being the embodiment of chaos can give you the chance to draw your own future."
Klarion was a bit relief to here theres a chance to live after hearing that. “... How did this even happen between chaos and order(?)?”
“Well kind of a long story there.” John showed him what he meant and showed him by explaining from the beginning.
"After the big bang, there were two forces that appeared and you can say these two were made by one but we're not delving into that. The two forces, chaos and order, have always had a debate about who are right. So over a time, that debate became a war. This war went out of hand because the immense power between were always at odds until the said higher force stops them."
"I thought we weren't-"
"Sh shhh! Not delving, just sticking to it." John spoke as Klarion raised a brow.
"So to prove who was right, it was settled here on earth. Can't exactly explain why, it was just convenient. Order wants to prove there is no need for chaos but to have control. Chaos however disagreed; they believed there is as much a necessity for chaos as there is order. To prove it, they brought it here." John showed the previous chaos lords that were born.
Klarion was confused by this."Why were they born here instead of already existing?"
"That is a good question with a bad answer. You see it takes time for chaos to take existence to this world because order purposely made it so that there is a natural order. But there is always a loophole. You see, chaos has to have a print here, a soul connection and over each lord born, makes the chaos power stronger. Order however, made their power exist using the helmet to make a connection easily. But whoever is the candidate, relinquishes their freedom. That is a horrible condition but got away with it. He was a champion to order and he made certain the helmet will be success and it was." John frowns, "for each time the helmet chose a host, they were so stronger and creative. Somewhere down the line, they even made a special gem to seal chaos in it before killing the incarnate lord. The more each lord came, the less there were. Now it is just you kid."
Klarion was shocked. ".... I can't be just the only one. Right?" He asked.
"I haven't seen any other like ya. There are other universes but in this one, yer the very last one." John stated.
Klarion went quiet before looking at Teekl who mews at him. "If I succeed, can there be more chaos wielders?"
"Maybe, you'll just have to make it through." John answers and using a special tool in his pocket, he can see the magic in him growing. "Seems like you're getting there, but you still need to train on your magic but no worries, you will have two teachers to teach you-"
"Three." Jack interjected. "As part of your training, you'll learn how to defend yourself physically. If Nabu weakens you or locks your powers, you need to keep a backup plan and keep as much strength against your enemies."
“What he says. But for now, you’ll need to hide your birthmarks and omega marks. They are searching for any hints of someone being two kinds so it's best you get something better than that choker of yours.” John was going through his coat but was getting irritated. “Where is that bloody…” he mumbles before seeing king shark holding out his messenger bag he was holding for Constantine.
“Thanks luv, you are literally my hero.” He opens it just as he takes out a necklace but before he can even say what it is, the young witch is amazed.
“That's Harpocrates' eye. Said to conceal the truth from anyone. Even from Zeus.” Klarion blurted out.
John was a bit startled to hear klarion recognize the small pendant but it meant klarion was smarter than he thought. “Tell me kid, where did you learn about it?”
“There's books on artifacts I found from the library. The librarian usually tosses them but I take them and hide them in a spot in the forest.”
“You gotta show me them when you can, they sound really worth reading.” John knew it was impossible to find those kinds of books. The said pendant couldn’t be read in some book when it's a disclosed item. Especially when few people know of its existence meaning someone sent them on purpose for the kid to find them. ‘I’ll have to do some searching when I see them.’
“Is there anything else you want to know about?”
Klarion looks to teekl as she mews, his thoughts were on something that was bothering him. “It's about sharing my powers. What happens if teekl… is gone?”
“That would leave you weak until you find another familiar or object to tether to. Most before you used special stones but you’re the first to have a living familiar and one you brought back to life. Which is why I would like to cast a protection seal on her but It'll be a good few hours..”
“That also means…. Having her go with you.” klarion held teekl close.
“Tomorrow I promise to bring her back safe. Just get some rest for tomorrow." John pats his head but klarion backs away and grumbles at that.
"Don't do that." Klarion. Swatted his hand away.
"Sorry kid. So anything else? The sooner I head out, the sooner teekl comes back."
Klarion held the kitten out to John. "Keep her safe."
John takes the kitten in his hand. "Will do."
Present
Klarion was lying back in his bed as he felt worried over his best friend. He sighed and decided to get something to snack on. “Maybe baking something will distract me….” he steps out of his room before hearing the sounds of… Laughter?
Klarion thought back of the joker and already went to his room quietly to grab the book. He opens and shuffles the pages till he finds a page to cast a weapon and projects a bat (can’t kill jack) but was surprised he gains ways to use a bat as if he learned it over the years. He didn't pry on it before rushing quietly down the stairs, ready to give a fight, he drops the bat seeing not one but two hyenas in the kitchen eating meat.
‘Since when did Jack own hyenas?’
Before he could think it more on what else Jack was hiding he hears a low growl across from him and sees one of them was looking at him.
“Lou.”
Klarion looks at Jack as he steps out of the opposite side of the room. “Mind telling me why there are two hyenas? And is that a dead body they're eating?”
“They are my pets I took care of thanks to a therapist about having a pet and those are not body parts, i bought the meat from the market.”
“A therapist recommended hyenas?” klarion was wondering if they were crazy or psycho. “I doubt they allow hyenas at a shelter for cats.”
“Glad you know about hyenas but these two were rescued from a poacher. I have had them since they were cubs.”
“Glad you're an animal lover. Do you take them with you to your jobs?” Hesitating but the young witch sees lou walk over to him and sniffs him before laughing and licks his face. Bud joins smelling the cats on Klarion. “Their kinda cute, but not as cute as teekl.” Klarion added but pets them both. “I’m guessing you planned for this.”
“No but I did think you should meet them seeing that if I’m out working, you’ll need protection. Despite John's security working well, there will be times you need back up. Bud and Lou will be the best front line of defense."
Klarion was surprised as he pets both hyenas. "Any chance I can play with them outside of their roles?" He asked
"You don't need to ask." Jack pets bud. "Your part of their pack now and It be good to train with them." He adds.
Klarion grins as Lou paws on the door to go out and klarion looked to the door before looking to Jack.
"You can do your defense train tonight and work on magic around noon." Jack can already see Klarion rushing upstairs with bud and Lou following.
" You must be so thrilled to have a son."
Jack kept quiet.
" You can deny it all you want, but that one dream you always dream of, becomes a dark."
"Klarion is not my son. He is an apprentice and I'm on a mission to protect."
"A mission of retribution I'll say Jacky! We both know how this'll turn out!"
"He will be going away-"
" He'll die."
Jack looks to his reflection and see whole and behold the joker.
"Everything you care about, dies on you. That boy will die in your arms, and I'll be laughing when you break. AAAAHAHAHHAHHAHHHAHAHAHHAHAHHAHA!!!"
"SHUT UP!" The sane of the two shouts.
Klarion who was running with the hyenas froze hearing Jack shout. He was about to run back when Bud and Lou blocks him with a whimper. The young witch pets them. "I'm worried about Jack too but I can help him."
"Kid, you can't help someone who's already broken."
Both hyenas growls out at the stranger as klarion looks to the figure wearing armor all over but was wearing a mask with one eye hole.
"If you're here to see Jack, he's busy. " Klarion asked.
"I'm here to see you." He walks up to him but stops a good 8 ft seeing the hyenas growling. "I am deathstroke. I work with Jack but I'm more capable to teach you than jack can." He was about to get close when the hyenas growled at him.
Klarion laughs. "Deathstroke? Like a heart stroke? Try something better like deadpool."
Deathstroke dodges the attacks from the hyenas before trapping them. "Funny boy, but let's see what Jack taught you." He takes out his blades.
Klarion glares at him but sees the intruder dodging bullets. Klarion sees Jack approaching with a gun.
"Slade, you know you're not allowed here. Get out." jack glares.
“I’m afraid not, old friend. As you see, I came to see what everyone has been talking about in the light.”
"You prefer sticking to the shadows." Jack kept his gun firmly on him. "Savage and luthor chose me for the reason and I am not one to pass a mission. Especially when a kid's safety involved."
"Still feeling guilty?" Deathstroke goes to attack Jack. The intruder attacks with swords knowing his opponent is semi metahuman. "You're still feeling guilty after killing batmans' other robin."
"I regret what happened to the kid." Jack dodged the swings before getting a hit and forced Slade to drop his weapons and it became a fist fight. "I regret letting that clown take the wheels. I wanted to bring Batman to justice."
While the two adults were fighting, Klarion went to free Bud and Lou but saw Bud was wounded and he used his magic to heal him. "Y-you're gonna be ok." He petted bud on the head who was whimpering. Lou growls and goes to attack deathstroke.
Deathstroke blocks and hits Jack but hisses when the hyena bites his arm down feeling a tear in skin. "You lowly beast-" He charges and tazes lou who shrieks but keeps hold.
Jack attacks Slade to stop it and as painful it was getting shocked, he ignores it and dismantle the device but his enemy kicks the air out of him as lou was thrown across. Klarion rushes to lou and shook seeing he wasn't moving as he tried to help lou.
"Jack, with that line of thought, it will never happen. Just like you're never gonna see your wife." He punched Jack in the face Thanks to getting him to drop his guard. "You think putting him to jail will end it all? Jack no matter what, you will always be chasing a ghost-" He stops when he sees he was stuck in place.
"You don't get to talk about him like that!" Klarion glares. "And you don't hurt bud and lou!" He uses the shadows to wrap around his neck. He squeezes slades neck but the young witch didn't notice his face or skin was changing. Appearing on his face was black tribal like marks etching and his skin was paling to blue.
Deathstroke tried to move when he saw Klarion was going to kill him. That was his thought when Jack stopped the kid. "Kid, don't give him the satisfaction." Jack saw he was not answering but saw tears pooling down. "Klarion, you're better than this. And lou needs you right now." Jack spoke seeing the markings that were forming on him were fading just as they appeared.
"Fine." He drops the spell, making the intruder fall. "If you step foot in my home, I'm turning you into a rat for teekl to eat." He glares down at him.
Deathstroke kept quiet and chuckles. "So much potential," he stood up and looked at the kid. "Meet me when you're ready for a real teacher." He threw a smoke bomb and disappeared.
Jack look to the kid who looked frazzled like an angry cat.
"Kid-" he paused, seeing Klarion look drain but sad looking at his slightly pale blue skin. Jack patted his head. "I'm proud you didn't lose sight of yourself."
"You're not weirded out?" Klarion asked going to lou and saw the hyena was breathing after a small magic pulse to his heart.
"There are many types of skin tones, but we all bleed the same. Thank you for helping me and hearing me out."
Klarion looks down and soon his tone went back to his original (he likes to assume it is) skin tone. "I like to think I'm an alien but it doesn’t feel like that."
Jack picks up Lou carefully. "We'll figure this out at a time. For now, I know who you are."
Klarion was surprised.
"A teen who took down an assassin." Jack answers.
Klarion had to think before chuckling. "An assassin that names himself after a stroke." He goes to bud who was limping and helps him make it to the house- to his home. But as they walk he thought of what Slade said earlier.
The other Robin, someone the joker killed. What else is his guardian hiding. He felt bud book his nose to his side and he pets him. ' Some things are best to ask later.' He thought as he walks bud inside and to the couch as Jack checked up on Lou.
"Mind I take bud to my room?" He asked
Jack was hesitant but saw bud whimpering to his counterpart. "Sure but be in bed by 10."
"So be in bed by 11." Klarion chime and Jack shook his head but let's him. He gets a call just as the kid left and sees its lex. He answers it with a serious face.
"We need to talk."
Klarion after some time in the shower, after giving bud a bath, he was lying back in bed with bud who was lying by him.
"I know I'm worried about him too." He scratches his head but saw his nails were barely noticeable but sharp. He started noticing changes to his body but he was too tired to care as he hugs bud. Closing his eyes he falls asleep.
He wakes up to a hall that wasn't his home or anywhere familiar. He saw it was abandoned and looks around before walking around but stops at a mirror and saw he was someone else but had no idea with the mask on and then got up. He dismisses it as he looks around to figure this out when he's attacked from behind and sees a cackling psycho he already knew.
The joker.
Klarion tries to get away but hisses when the joker hits his back with something hard and painful. He shook but tried to get away. This brought back that memory of the times he was abused but not once cried. He wasn't going to cry right now either.
"Guess the big bad bat isn't here to save you little bird. It's time to have an unforgettable lesson!"
Klarion felt him hit his back again and again before feeling turned over and punched in the face. He was unable to move when the joker stopped. He thought it was over just until he felt being dragged.
"You see, your dad took something important but I must admit I love this freedom!" He laughs away.
Klarion struggled but his body wasn't listening as he felt immobilized but whimpered feeling sharp glass or whatever sharp going across his body.
"You better… hope I don't see you…" Klarion glares as the joker stops.
"Funny I don't remember this part. In fact, I recall Robin begging and screaming. You didn't scream kid."
Klarion could hear the smirk before being lifted up to the wall and slammed against it and sees the joker face to face.
"I wonder who~" He grabs his face and pulls it to reveal Klarion and joker merely cackling.
"The little witch!! Now that is some serious twist!!" He backs away and watches klarion fall but gets up on his own. "Tough kid you are. You must have a lot of tolerance."
"Or just used to this." Klarion stood tall and wiped his face. "Where am I?" He glares.
"Why are you in my world brat!" The joker smirks. "Or our home of chaos and memory lane!"
Klarion glares as he feels like it never happened. "Why am i here?" He asked.
"I want to thank you for helping my boys! And what a show to see that orange hazard walking idiot be taken down a few pegs. Was it fun to see him choke? Did it just feel great?!" He gets closer but klarion makes a barrier.
"I didn't kill him just to like it. He almost killed lou!"
"The more reason to relive that!" Joler smile widens.
"I don't like killing." Klarion stated.
"That's not what I saw." Joker giggled. "I saw you boy, I saw how you wanted to kill him! Imagine what you could do!"
"And be like you?! No thanks, I don't want that for me!"
"But you will when it comes to saving people, kid."
"Was torturing Robin like that right?" The witch narrowed his eyes. "He was a kid!!"
"And I was a mere alternative ego yet I became this glorious me! Kid what you saw was justified."
"Justified?!? He shouldn't have-"
"Have what? Don the mask? Join batman?! The second we become the hero and villain, we sign away our deaths. That kid knew what he was dealing with. I just reminded him that!"
Klarion shook as he left.
The joker followed as he goes on. "You wanted to know the truth and now your sad how it ended. You're a real goth kid. But tell me, seeing this, does this change your views on jack?"
Klarion stops and glared. "Jack didn't do this. You. Did. Now I am leaving." He turns around and leaves but hid when he sees Nabu in the sky.
Joker laughs. "Then by all means face your fears. You're a scared little stray."
Klarion ignores him as he watched nabu looking.
"He's been looking for you kid." He chuckles.
"I get it, I'm the last chaos witch/host and my kind."
"Wrongo."
Klarion looks at him with a death glare. "What did I say wrong?"
"You're the last host, but not your kind but I shouldn't have said that since you didn't want to hear me. I mean I may know about your parents~"
Klarion looked him down before gripping his shirt. "What do you know."
"Well…." Joker smirks maliciously. "They hated you. Despised you."
Klarion's eyes were enraged as he was feeling his magic erupt, nit knowing it alert the seeker. "That's a lie!"
"They left you out to die. Tell me why would they leave you out?" Joker smirks as Klarion hands glowed dark and goes to attack him but stops seeing a flash of a blast. He moves away as there was a rumble, he shielded himself when he sees a red helmet like Jack's. He grabs it and puts it on just as Nabu appears.
"The witch boy." They spoke and began to attack.
Klarion projects a shield and blocks it.
"Next time we talk, might suggest a shrink before coming here kid!!" Joker laughs and leaves.
Klarion blocks the power but struggles and feels Nabu was overwhelming him. However what was in his head was what the Joker said.
His family left him.
He sees the cracks in his shield appear and tries to keep it up. Klarion was shaking when he saw Nabu stop and saw a figure attacking him with what Klarion saw was teleportation but showed no signs of who they were as they appeared attacking nabu.
Klarion shook but tensed when he went to attack Nabu with a blast mimicking him. "Leave them alone!!" He shouted at the gold helmet intruder who blasted back. The young witch struggles but keeps firm. "This is my plane of reality! That means if I want you out, you're out!!!" He shouted and opened a black hole and made nabu get sucked into it.
Klarion breathed but nearly fell if it wasn't for the figure catching him. He helped him sit but the figure didn't speak as he sat with him.
Klarion kept the helmet on.
Klarion follows as he frowns in the mask. "Do I know you?" Klarion spoke.
The figure kept quiet as there a door appearing. They point to it and then to him.
"I get that." Klarion got up and goes. "Hey thanks again but will we see each other again?" He asked.
The masked individual showed no sign before leaving into the chaotic city.
"Alright…" Klarion leaves but he couldn't help but feel the person felt familiar but couldn't point it out. It was foggy.
Klarion sat up breathing as if he held his breath and looked to see his room and felt relieved he was back and went to check on Jack and found him by lou.
"Jack!I"
"Kid you should be in bed." Jack saw it was 1 in the morning while reading a book by Lou.
Klarion stopped feeling it was not safe to tell Jack yet after earlier. "I had a nightmare… but I'm ok."
Jack raised a brow before walking to the young witch and redirecting him back to bed. "Your ok kid. Get some rest."
"Is Lou ok?" The teen asked stop to look at the hyena.
"He's resting but he will get better in a few days."
Klarion nodded but looked at Jack. "Did anything happen?" Klarion asked.
"None that I know, klarion." He answers.
Klarion sighs dismissing Jack as a possibility. All he knew was whoever was the hero, he hoped he gets to see them again.
Elsewhere
The host of nabu coughs and struggles to breathe sitting up but all machines went haywire.
"Get his breathing in control!!" A woman shouted as the staff helped the old man.
Outside the room, two lords watch.
"He lost to the chaos host." The lord, Superman, spoke.
"Incarnate." The bat lord spoke. "No host has that amount of power."
"Then that means we found what we've been looking for." Superman looks at the old man. "But we can't let them know about our project."
"It is being handled and he won't get any premonitions. I will have the young justice to end the search for now."
"Not yet." Superman looks at the host of faith before he looks at Batman. "We need to find the incarnate before Nabu does."
Notes:
my apologies for a lot of things, as of recent, my bearded dragon who I had for almost 5 years, passed away due to cancer and my birthday passed and it was a lot to take in especially when I was working on this chapter. I had also been working on my mental health so pushing myself to keep moving forward and more to come and possibly to new ideas. on newer stuff, my siblings gifted me two scaley babies that needed a home and they were the beginning to get me back on writing and even broader ideas.
this chapter is to my baby who has been the inspiration to this part and the other which will post hopefully in this weekend.
Chapter Text
Napier & baron safehouse/place to sleep 1pm.
Klarion was practically tired from everything last night. From meeting a guy named after a heart attack to the weird figure he didn't know. Just when he fell asleep, Jack woke him up. (With an extremely loud horn).
But since then, Jack has been working him like a dog.
' Jeez I'm gonna pass out at this point!' He thought but for some reason he wasn't tired like he should be. One minute he was tired but the next second he was feeling pretty good. Like getting a surge of energy. He wondered if it was from his magic manifesting from last night. It was really different than usual, especially waking up to floating in the air until he freaked out.
Klarion groans when he hears Jack call him for another run with Bud (he had to outrun him) when he heard a mew that stopped him in his tracks. "Teekl!!" Klarion runs to see and hug her, the relief filling him.
"The kitten is well protected now." John walks up with king shark behind holding a duffle bag.
“Any trouble last night?” Jack comes up with Bud moving to Klarion’s side to see the kitten and wags his tail to her.
“The usual Jack but no trouble brewed that was too much for us.” John was already grabbing the bag from his boyfriend and opened it up. "Alright kid, today yer gonna show me how much you can do and where to go from there. Let's see What you got."
Klarion showed him the first spell he learned.
Levitation.
Klarion sees before him a large weight that had a mass of 500lbs .
"I want you to move that bloody dead weight to that circle there.” He pointed to the other side, about 50ft across "You do that, we can go to the next one." John steps away as Jack did so.
Klarion took a breath before holding out his hand but it felt so ligh. “That’s pretty light.” he mumbles before he moved it with ease to its spot.
"Good, now hold it up as long as you can." John grins.
Klarion glared slightly at his teacher but did so.
Jack however looks at John. "John, what are you doing?"
"Simple, Ahm making him tire himself out. Didn't you tell me you want him to not see that kid?" He asked and looked at the kid who had a heavy weight in the air. "Believe it, keeping something up will exhaust him. This way, he'll be out in 15 min.
1 hour and an angry klarion later
"WHAT WAS THE PURPOSE OF THIS?!?!?!" Klarion growls making the thing fly out and land somewhere in the forest.
John didn't know if he should be impressed or questioned just a few things as the kid was ranting.
"WHY EVEN HOLD IT THAT LONG?!? WHAT WAS I GONNA DO?! HOLD A -"
"Klarion, surely John has a good reason." Jack stops him as he looks to John.
"And that'd be…. You need to control your…. feelings!" John spoke.
Jack raises a brow and the young witch was not buying it. "My feelings?! You're asking a teenager to control his feelings!?!?" He hisses out at John. teekl, who was on Bud purring away, mews out as if agreeing with the witch.
"Kid, say you had to hold a trap in place, right there that happens, and you died." John spoke. "You need to be patient for the sake of others. Especially teekl." John hoped the kid believed that bull crap.
"You could have at least warned me." Klarion crossed his arms as he looked to the side. "Any more lessons?"
"For now, lets take a break. We can pick it up in an hour."
Klarion looking at the time on his phone, was getting annoyed to see it was nearing 1 pm. "But I promised to see a friend today! And this is a first- wait,” he pauses remembering it was not his first hangout. “This will be my 2nd hangout. I did all that training, I earned the time to hangout with him."
"Kid it's not that, the word in the magic world, Zatanna is here in Salem." John frowns. "Now Zatanna is different, she is similar to me only she has had teachers and skills training her. She has skills to find and sense chaos even with a charm.” John wasn’t kidding when he crossed paths with her. “I know you like to have fun but you gotta trust me please?"
The young witch was angry as he headed back inside but slammed the door hard enough.
"That went well." King shark spoke.
"Not the best but it did. Perhaps we can try to give Klarion something fun to make up for the loss of his plans." Jack thought out loud.
"Right, keeping an angry teenager from hanging out from a crush is really smart." John shook his head but they heard a motorbike and saw the ginger park and waves.
John chuckles. "Well, you can make a blockade and whatnot, but nothing beats the hear-"
"Shut it." Jack glares at the man as King holds his boyfriend close. "You, what are you doing here? I made it clear last time to keep away from Klarion."
"I thought I would hang out with my friend. And didn’t you wanted our hangouts to be watched? I’m just being considerate." Wally smiles, not afraid of the vigilante. "I finished my chores and since I'm still new here, maybe Klarion likes to hang out here instead."
"He can’t hangout today.” Jack blocks his path. “Shouldn't you be with your friends and your girlfriend?"
"I don't have a girlfriend and they’re doing their research and luckily I finished early." Wally only grins.
Jack however didn’t budge. "Then I will kindly tell you, Klarion needs his rest after working out."
"I also brought movies and stuff to watch with him. Klarion told me he likes the same shows and movies; so I thought why not."
"Why not have my boyfriend and I join you and Klarion on yer friendly hangout." John intervened seeing Jack was ready to kill the kid after killing him. “I mean you don’t mind if his family joins your friendly hangout?”
"The more the merrier." Wally smiles. "I'm Wally West. Nice to meet you Mr.?" Wally hands his hand out.
"John, Ahm Klarion's new uncle." John takes his hand and feels the shocks. “You got a strong shock in ya, a speedster I reckon?”
“I’m a runner and you must be a wizard in research.” Wally smiles before walking around Jack and walks with King to the house
"Don't say a word." Jack glares at john.
"All I was gonna say was to keep it calm. He knows he can't do anything but we can't let him bring the others, especially the broody one robin." John reminded him.
"They will come if he doesn't tell them." Jack glares. “And my concern is Klarion, not my safety.”
"Which is why it is a good thing we can push the ginger’s buttons and let Klarion see the real thing." John grins.
Jack glares before going inside
"Thanks Wally, I needed that." The young witch smiles while eating what Jack saw was a container of what was a burger and fries.
Jack looks around wondering where Bud was until he finds Bud as a cat (Klarion's work).
"I didn't know if you ate and I just came from my usual run. So I brought all my movies and series if you want to watch them?" Wally asked.
Klarion was excited but the attack from Nabu last night flashed in his head and frowned. If he wanted to not feel that weak, he needed to train. That also meant, not having time for fun "I would love to but, it's just…. There was a burglar attack and it was scary that I couldn’t do anything to stop it." Klarion saw Wally was worried. "He didn't hurt me but he hurt my other cat, Lou, and I asked- my dad if he could teach me some self defense lessons." He knew it sounded bull carp, but he was really scared about losing his friend.
"Hey I understand that a lot." Wally patted his hand. "I almost got attacked when I was a kid in Central and after I took some training, it was pretty good to defend myself. If you, want I can be your sparring buddy?" Wally had thought who would try to hurt him, he could feel that Klarion wasn't lying. The burglar part was bullshit but seeing bud there, he didn't see Lou (he did his research on redhood) meant something happened. "I won't get in the way of your practice, but I wouldn't be a good friend if you needed support."
Klarion thought about it and smiled. "I would like that. I'll make it up to you."
"Hey it's ok! Besides, it would be nice to spar more." Wally smiles, besides the tracker is in him so he accomplished one part. The other was to be close to Klarion. "Since you ate, you'll need to wait an hour before sparring-"
"No, let's spar." Jack cuts him off, "If you are in a situation Klarion, it would be good to work on that."
Klarion nodded and went out.
Wally is about to follow when Jack stops him. He watched as Klarion was far enough from them. "Who attacked him?" He looks at Jack with a glare.
"Someone out of your league. It's not your problem and if you try, I'm very certain, you'll only scare him away." But Jack was concerned about Klarion's reaction. He wasn't concerned about Slade attack, using his magic was easy. He wondered if that sudden outburst from last night had something to do with it. He'd talk to John about that and that other teacher when he comes. He sees Wally eye going out to follow Klarion, something Jack didn't want to happen.
At all.
During the past hour, the sparring was decent. But he kept Wally from getting close to Klarion but there were moments when Wally partnered with Klarion, their sparring was another story. Wally was practically pinning Klarion a few times before letting Klarion did the same but as a beta, Jack can smell the faint glands Wally was emitting on the witch. Jack can already tell Wally was purposely attempting to use this as an advantage to get close to the boy. That was until king (a blessing in Jack's opinion) would cut in and sparred with Wally, and took him down several times.
Klarion did tease Wally at first but after a few more rounds, Klarion helped him walk into the house.
"Why hasn't Klarion puked out the food?" Jack was concerned about that. He had Klarion spar enough to lose his appettite.
"Well being the incarnate of chaos," John thought about it. "Could be his body's already digested it or could be he's used to this amount of workout." He shrugged.
Jack shook his head seeing Klarion was helping Wally with an ice pack
"You could have gotten worse." Klarion ice his bruise on his arm.
"Hey I have had worse. Besides, I got the best nur- hisss !!" He shook, feeling the ice somehow got colder.
"What was that?" Klarion glares slightly.
"The best witch to heal me." Wally grins.
"Thanks." Klarion snaps his fingers and makes a first aid kit appear after finding some scrapes and cuts. "Sorry we didn't hang out the way you hoped." Klarion uses a small spell and the bruise disappears but began cleaning the wounds.
"Hey I get to impress you and watch a marathon of movies and series, that's a win for me." Wally grins and Klarion only smiles.
"Yep; so still open to watching horror drive in on halloween?" The young witch asked.
"Definitely…. Klarion, is everything ok?" Wally asks. "You don't have to tell me but I can get the feeling there's something else."
Klarion pauses before thinking about it. "Can it be hypothetical?"
Wally nodded and waited.
"Say hypothetically, there is…. Problem in my personal projects. That problem has overwhelmed me and it isn't going to stop. What would be the best answer to fix this?"
"That's a bit…. Hard to answer.” Wally would have been beyond confused if he didn’t know. “But say there's a way, like a support, and if you work with that, would that ease the problem in your project?" He didn't know if he's referring to his safety or about being a target but to see him trust him enough, warmed his heart.
"Working with someone is like working on a project, there's no guarantee that they will help. Besides, I don't feel comfortable sharing my project to anyone." He glares at the idea of someone taking his credit, how will he be ok working with someone much less be in his personal life?
"Well say someone you trust a lot; someone who would give you their all. Would you trust them?" Wally asked.
"No, because everyone wants something from someone. That's like sharing your heart and they'll break it! And say they get back together but end up breaking it? Then there's nothing left-" Klarion continued on and Wally could only listen and feel his own heart break a little.
* I'm gonna have to earn his love and make sure he believes me.*
He grabs Klarion's hand. "What would that mean about me?" Wally asks.
"What?" Klarion raises a brow but blushes lightly when Wally holds his other hand and keeps him from running.
"Say I could help you, work with you, would you trust me in your personal project?" He leaned forward a bit and Klarion was getting a bit more shade.
"Would you trust me with your-"
"With what exactly, Mr. West?" Jack glares down at the ginger.
Klarion pulls his hands away, not knowing if it was relief Jack came or sulk.
He would rather be relief.
"I am simply asking if he could trust me to work with him on his projects." Wally answers.
"As I recall, Klarion's projects don't need a partner, he is independent and a good student, he doesn't need help and if he does, he knows where to look." Jack took a deep breath. "If Klarion chooses to ask for your help, I will respect it. But as far as I know, he hasn’t asked you."
"Hurt nephew, I hurt you." King walks in with a cold stare down to him when he enters with john.
Klarion was both thankful but at the same time confused. * Are we still talking about projects?
"I won’t hurt Klarion.” Wally holds his hand out. “I promised.”
Jack looks at Klarion before passing them. “Klarion that will be all for the day, but finish your homework before your marathon.”
“Ok.” Klarion almost grinned excitedly ( he was already finished when he couldn’t sleep). “We can watch it in the living room.” He grabbed Wally's hand and led him.
John watches him hum before looking to King.
“Date?” king asked.
“Yep definitely. But I am curious about how powerful Klarion got without teekl. Yesterday he was barely like say 30%, now he's like near 100% but not exactly there. "John knew it would take a while but Klarion was practically stronger.
John looked at Wally and raised a brow. “You don’t smell anything on them?”
King shook his head. “No blood.”
“Right. Maybe we’ll find out soon. It's weird how he timed it.” John thought how Wally knew Klarion was not gonna go unless he texted him; but he didn’t say that. He then thought what if Wally was stalking him? He then noticed teekl was nowhere near till Jack came in bringing teekl but restraining his rage.
“Klarion, I’m sorry to say but Bud bit off Teekl’s collar.” Jack held the collar and Klarion was rushing to teekl to check on her. “It was a playful roughhousing so no literal bites.”
“Wally got her that as a gift.” Klarion frowns, it was a pretty good collar and its ruined now.
“Hey it's ok, so long as Teekl is ok, we can always get her a new one.” wally reaches to grab it when Jack reels it back. “Luckily I have a spare for her. Perhaps tomorrow we can take her to the vet to have her in the system. Wally, if you would be kind enough to help me with bringing Lou over to the bed." Jack spoke calmly.
“I can help Lou.” Klarion insisted but Wally stops him
“It's ok and besides you take it easy and relax.” Wally reassures Klarion and follows Jack.
Jack led him to see Lou as a cat was resting on the med table in another room. Jack can only guess it was either John or Klarion but he turn, holding a gun to Wally. “You perverted rat.”
“How am I a pervert?” Wally asked. “And why would you destroy a nice gift?”
Jack tosses the collar with a hidden machine to him. “I will say this once and only once, you speeding rat: I will tolerate you being in Klarion’s space. I can tolerate you hanging out with him! But if you invade and do this again, you’re going to be buried with a bullet to the head.”
Wally was calm and narrowed his eyes. “Klarion is special and important to me, and I will do anything for him and besides if you kill me, you might kill him.”
“Your bluffing.” Jack glares, his eyes changing a bit.
“Why would I bluff?” He holds out his wrist to show the initials. “I won’t go into detail, but knowing how close I am, what if I'm closer than you think?” Wally asks and sees Jack put the gun down.
“West, I am watching you and if you dare mark him-”
“What if i have him mark me?” he asks with a smirk. “I know about the marking and if you think I want power, then you really don’t know the real plan.” He goes to pick up the growling hyena but dodges the teeth and took him to the living room, leaving jack there, ready to kill wally.
“You know it's pretty wild you got two more cats, should I say you got exotic taste?” Wally jokes as Klarion was relieved it worked.
“You’re not surprised?” klarion retaliates back. “Besides, they are actually my dad’s cats. They are two years older than teekl.”
“Something you have in common with him.” Wally added and sat with him and they talked as John was wondering what happened before getting a text and going to meet with Jack.
“Yeah, Jack is a real cool dad.” He smiles at that. “And I'm grateful you're being nice to him. You’re a good friend.”
King watches and listens but notices something. Now sharks can sense the very electricity people give off, it's how they can track their prey and separate them from non organic (60% at the time) but King senses something like a bond between them that was not exactly a mating, but a symbiote of some. He watches and keeps quiet.
“Wait you're saying, that bloat got something on Klarion right under your nose?” John asked as he held Jack’s gun. “I say this as a friend, killing him is now off the list. If he says what he’s saying, then there’s a dangerous chance you might kill Klarion.”
“And what if he isn’t? He can hurt Klarion in the process!”
“Look mate, whether it is or isn't, Klarion is in danger but if this kid heard most of this, he might be wanting to help him. Maybe him being a power battery can help him-”
“Didnt you also say that it can be dangerous for Klarion? I don't want Klarion to be bound to that scheming rat!”
“Jack I would agree with you but there is a league after him. There is Nabu tailing him to kill him. Why are you determined to be against a possible solution-”
“He’s my son!” Jack shouted and calmed himself. “I lost my wife and unborn child, you saw what it did to me. Klarion is not a replacement, but he’s just a kid. I am doing my best to protect him. I know this is the beta part of me talking, but I see Klarion as my son. I don't want to lose that.'' Jack sat back down with John frowning.
“I get that jack, and I respect that. For now we’ll find a way around the marking business. I’ll look up some stuff, see if I find anything. For now, just have to bear with the speedster there."
He nodded and walked back and saw Wally was outside answering a call.
"Answering a call from his parents." Klarion responds as he was sitting with King who was showing him his teeth.
"So you can literally sense the electricity like a shark." Klarion asked.
"Yep." King responds.
"That's pretty cool. Where are you from?" The witch asks as King was having a hard time not being used to answering longer sentences.
Klarion opened his phone to the pdf version of the book.
"Hey wait, where is your book?" John asks.
"I put it in my phone." He answers finding the spell.
"Can he do that?" Jack asks.
"Apparently he can." John was amazed and ticked off.
When Klarion did the spell he was able to telepathically talk to King and was listening to King's explanation when Wally walked in looking a bit puzzled.
"I'm gonna have to end our hangout short, a small errand I gotta do." Wally grabs his backpack. "We can hang out later if you like."
"Want me to walk you out?" Klarion gets off his spot.
"Yes please." Wally smiles and walks out with him.
Jack sighs and wonders what to do now.
"Thanks for coming over, I gotta say, I didn't think you would come here." Klarion walks him to the bike.
"Hey it's worth it and I didn't really have anything to do. So I was wondering if your up to hanging out at my cabin after the drive in since its pretty close.” Wally gets his helmet on before getting on the bike.
“As fun as that sounds, I like it more if you live to see another day without getting killed. My dad seems to not like the idea of me being near you.” Klarion passes him his bag but Wally takes his hand instead.
“What about you?” Wally looks up.
Klarion only smiles. “I rather not see you dead. Besides I think doing necromancy on you may sound fun, but i dont want to deal with dead odor.”
“But its romantic.” wally interject.
“It still work to it.” Klarion pulls his hand. “So see You tomorrow?”
“Is it a date?” wally grins.
“No.”
“Its still a yes.” He starts his bike up. “I’ll see you tomorrow!” He drives off.
The young witch watches him go before walking back to the house but pauses feeling a bit hesitant to talk about the dream before feeling something off and turns and makes a barrier before a fire blast hit him.
“To be fair in the world of war, one must embrace when it is near or far.”
Klarion looks passed the smoke and embers to see a yellow demon in medival theme clothes. He didn’t care to ask when he uses the same cast he did to that heart stroke and pins him down but pales to see him breaks out.
“Fear child, and run into the wild!” The demon roars and attacks the barrier. The demon throws many blasts but soon sees the witch makes a blast of his own and attacks the deomon.
“I am not in the mood!!” Hegrowls before stopping a bit but was soon pinned to the ground.
“Strong child you may be, but you need more to foresee.” The demon smirks till he winces after hearing a gun shot.
“Get off of him now!!!” Jack shouted aiming his gun at him.
“Etrigen hold it!!!” John ran out. “Jack this is the other teacher!”
What?!?!” both the witch and the detective shout.
