Chapter Text
Maggi paced around her room nervously, today was the crowning ceremony and she was the next in line to be crowned. Her younger brother, Raymond, was standing in the doorway watching her, “you shouldn’t worry so much, everyone knows you’re good at your job and are more than capable to keep order ‘round here!” He smiled at her. She sighed and nodded, “I know..I know I will make Pa and Ma proud!” She had an evil twinkle in her eye. Typical for a demon though. Maggi shooed away her brother and got ready for the crowning ceremony.
After an hour of getting ready Maggi made her way to the grand throne room to be crowned Queen of Hell, or what one could assume hell is. She made her way down the long wide crismon carpet. Raymond stood off to the side next to an old demon that had crowned many others before. The other demons in the hall quieted down and watched as the young demon made her way to the steps in front of the throne. Maggi stood in front of the demon, he smiled at her with a wise old grin, “Maggi Witherhold, I’ve crowned many young demons here and now I crown you. Do you, young demon, understand the responsibilities and jobs you are taking on by taking the crown?”
“Yes, I do.” Maggi said confidently.
“And do you othe to protect and fight for your people? Take care of your kingdom? Do you othe to honor the past kings and queens by living up to the name Queen of Hell?” He spoke calmly and clearly.
“I oath to protect, fight, and take care of my people and kingdom. I oath to honor my ancestors who have stood here before you as well. I will make them and all of you proud.” Maggi said her confidence was building up even more. The demon nodded and motioned for her to bow down. Maggi got down on one knee and bowed her head down. The older demon muttered the words he had so many times before placing the crown on her head. The many demons in the hall cheered and howled in excitement. Raymond clapped for his older sister from his spot next to the old demon.
Maggi smiled, raising to her feet turning to the hall of demons, “Friends and other towns-demons! Let’s get this crowning party started!!” she shouted for all to hear. Raymond moved over to her as the other demons started partying, “Maggi, congrats on being Queen, I told you it would be fine!” he patted her shoulder, “I’m going to go for a walk though, you know how I don’t like loud places.” Maggi laughed and nodded, “Of course bro.” and she walked off to join the party and mingle around.
Raymond headed out of the castle and to the garden area in the back, one of the portals out and into hell resided there. He heard a strange noise coming from the direction of the portal. Raymond, being a sensible demon, went to investigate. There at the portal he found a boy, a boy who looked nothing like any demon he’d ever seen. The boy stared at Raymond startled, “W-who are you and where the fuck am I??” Raymond starred in pure shock, a human had wandered through the portal?? How strange. “You’re in hell and I’m a prince. And you are???” Raymond responded sass dripping from his words.
The small human blinked, “I- uh I’m Yuni..I’m in hell????” he was shocked to say the least.
Raymond nodded, “Sure are. What are you doing here?” he really didn’t wanna deal with the human named Yuni at that moment.
“I walked through a door- uh, but I’m glad I’m here! I need an ancient relic, could you please help me???” The young human begged.
“A relic? What relic?” Raymond crossed his arms.
“A weapon, it’s called Dyrnwyn. It’s a sword.” Yuni looked at him hoping to gain this demon’s help. Raymond’s eyes widened, he stared at Yuni wondering where he even heard of the sword, and why he wanted it.
“Yeah I could help you get it. Why do you want it?” Raymond narrowed his eyes at Yuni.
“There’s a group of dragon-folk threatening my pack’s safety. We don’t have many ways to protect ourselves and what we do have won’t keep us safe! I only wish to protect my pack and family! You’d do the same too wouldn’t you?” Yuni pleaded with Raymond.
Raymond thought about it before nodding, “Alright I’ll help you…on one condition.”
Yuni lit up before deflating a bit, “and that is..?”
Raymond smirked a bit, “Make a deal with me.”
Yuni thought for about a second before nodding, “Okay..I want the sword and you to be beside me till the day I die.”
Raymond thinks on it, nodding, “Alright, but your soul is mine once you die.” Raymond stuck his hand out to Yuni for a hand shake. Yuni took hold of his hand, shaking it. The two returned their hands to their sides happy on each side of the deal they had made.
