Sunset Shimmer was currently nestled between her human parents. Her mother, Sunfire, and her father, Yin Yang. Her human parents continuously made her feel the unconditional love her biological parents in Equestira never gave her.
Truthfully, Sunset couldn't remember her biological parents anymore. She'd been in the human world so long. Occasionally, she'd blocked out her Equestira recollections altogether. Not frequently, but sometimes.
The small family sat together, enjoying each other company while watching home movies. Unfortunately, Sunset would've to return to college shortly. Therefore, they're taking advantage of their remaining time together.
As her mother stroked her lengthy hair, Sunset sighed blithely. Despite them being her adoptive parents, she could've passed as their biological daughter. Sunset significantly resembled her human mother, Sunfire. They had unbelievably similar facial features.
Moreover, their eyes were the same shape and practically the same color. Heck, even their body types were identical! Her mother also had some red hair. Only her secondary color was magenta, not gold like her daughter.
"How are you doing, my precious?" her mother questioned softly. She gazed lovingly at Sunset, both next to her and the one on the TV screen. The video on the screen captured Sunset's first birthday in the human world. Her daughter honestly looked joyful in the video. Moreover, this was before Twilight came. The whole family cherished these rare moments.
"I'm fine, Mom," as her daughter laid her head over her heart. She was drawing in Sunfire's unconditional love. "Being here with you and Dad? I couldn't ask for anything more. Whenever school or my responsibilities as the Ambassador of Friendship get too much? All I need is to be held in your arms, and everything is right," her daughter replied softly.
Her father chuckled, "There was a time when you wouldn't have said that," he reminded her gently. His daughter looked ashamed when he said that. She quickly glanced at the TV screen.
Then replied with a heavy heart."I know, Dad. I was an arrogant foolish bitch when I first came into your lives. However, thanks to Princess Twilight? I've become the person I was always meant to be."
Her parents glanced lovingly at their daughter. They knew her journey to redemption hadn't been painless. However, they'd never been prouder of her. "Oh, Sunset," her father replied as he embraced her. "We always knew you're a good person deep down. You only needed a small nudge in the right direction to bring the true Sunset to the surface."
Sunset wiped away some tears. "Thanks, Dad. Oh no!" she shouted, which alarmed her parents.
"What's wrong, darling?" her mother quickly asked. Her daughter looked highly mortified by something. Sunset pointed to the TV. They glanced up in time to see what Sunset was flustered about. It was the day she learned what it meant to be a woman. The former pony hadn't been prepared to witness blood on her sheets.
She'd been freaked out regarding how her new body functioned. Sunfire had done her most suitable to assure her daughter that her monthly blood was expected. But, unfortunately, her father had accidentally documented it. "I thought I told you to delete that video!" Sunfire hissed to her husband. He was blushing worse then his daughter.
"Sorry! I've not had much time to edit anything! We've got a surplus of commercials due to the holiday season! So editing our home movies has been the last thing on my mind!" he shot back.
Sunset still had her face buried in her hands. "Oh, Dad! Please tell me you'll burn this video before I return to college!"
"Don't worry, sweetheart. No one will see this video. Let's fast forward to a happier memory," as he used the remote to skip to a happier memory. Sunset's mortification vanished in the new video. This video showed her first day of learning to ride a horse. She'd been so enthusiastic about it! She worshiped her gorgeous new mare.
The rest of the video showed her learning to ride and competing in the equestrian games. These were happy memories. Thankfully, they didn't indicate the accident that nearly killed her.
They watched a few more joyful moments together before they'd their bedtime hot chocolate. Her parents tucked her before giving her goodnight kisses. As they left her room, Sunset couldn't help but smile.
She'd been through so much since coming to the human world. However, the greatest gift she had received was having as wonderful parents as she did. Between her parents and friends, she knew she'd never been alone or unloved again. With those happy thoughts, she fell into a blissful dream.
