Under my wings

Summary:

“Why is that? Is there something that is bothering you?” The father asked. “There is.” Lucifer paused and slightly watched how the blonde archangel grit his teeth. “The light brought him to me. I feel it in my soul. It pains me to see the one I love under the wings of my equal when I know that he is supposed to be mine.” Michael sharply breathed in. The child looked up confused.

Chapter 1: Broken Crown

Chapter Text

The pull on my flesh was just too strong
Stifled the choice and the air in my lungs
Better not to breathe than to breathe a lie
'Cause when I open my body I breathe in a lie

He did it. He fought. With himself. All the time. He knew the rules. He knew how to be a good son. How to be a good angel. He knew exactly what he needed to do. Father didn’t want to listen. Not to him. Why was everybody pretending that he would be the favorite? He was not. He was the threat. Their father knew that he needed him distant.
For all he cares. Their father could think of him what he wanted. However why was it, that his equal’s sins were ignored. He even was praised!

He wasn’t concerned about himself. He was concerned about the children. How were these pure beings supposed to grow up untainted and wholesome? How? – When one of their highest brothers treated them like slaves.

It was another day in the Celestial Realm. It was the same voice echoing through the halls. It was the same aggression. It was the same whimpering. It was the same reason.
And it was, once again, Lucifer to bring an end to the situation. Nobody else even dared to think about interrupting the great enraged archangel.
“How often do I have to tell you to listen when I explain something?! When will you learn your place?! When will you finally break and obey me?! When you keep this act up... I swear to our father… I will not hesitate to-..”

“Michael, that’s enough!” roared his deep voice through the room. The blonde slowly lifted his gaze to the source of the interruption. “Took you quite long today. Do you finally lose interest in this nuisance?” He turned again to the young angel. “See? It is just a matter of time that father will decide that your existence is not advantageous.”

“I said enough!”

A bright light appeared, and the dark-haired angel rose slightly into the air. His wings towered gracefully. His red eyes shined unnaturally clear, just like his holy grail.
The blonde one grinned smugly before he mimicked the show of his equal. “What do you think your doing? Just because you’re his favorite?! You can’t always get what you want, Lucifer! Your arrogance is getting the better of you!” Michael mocked.
While Lucifer remained calm and graceful, Michael was laughing almost manically. He tried everything to provoke a reaction from his brother, the eyesore. He came dangerously close, and the simple power of the archangels attracted many surrounding angels.

Before Michael could do his next move, a loud thunder opened the clouds above them. The scenery changed drastically. The bright white walls disappeared, and a huge throne hall was built. Stairs brought the way to the throne where he sat. His loud voice rang out over the clouds.

“Enough!”

Michael stopped in his tracks and distanced himself from his brother. Both turned to their father and bowed slightly. “What is the reason of this, Michael?” The blonde rose and spoke steady. “Lucifer again disturbed the training of this young angel. He did so many times before and prevents me from making progress with him. At this rate this one will never get the chance to grow into one of our soldiers.”

And I will not speak of your sins
There was a way out for him
The mirror shows not
Your values are all shot

“Lucifer?” The father asked. Lucifer quickly rose and stood straight. Loudly he answered. “Father, I, Bringer of the Dawn, Lucifer the Morningstar, demand that this very student is transferred under my wings.” The father finally looked at the young angel who still bowed to his knees.
“So, I beg you father. Allow me to get what is mine and teach your ways.” Lucifer bowed deep as he awaited his father’s response.

“Then so be it.” He spoke loudly. “Child rise.” He did. “I put you under the wings of my precious son and your exceptional brother from this moment on. You must honor and follow his gracious step. You are his. You are a part of him. Show your guardian respect and loyalty and great things will follow.” Big eyes inspected his new guardian. The father was not done yet. “What is your name, my son?” A nervous tremble left the mouth of the child. “My name is Mammon, Father.” He again bowed slightly. His hands play with his fingers.
“Michael, from this day on. Your student and brother, Mammon will not be under your wings anymore and never will. I expect from you to let him go as a guardian with grace and respect to your brother Lucifer… Now, small Mammon go to your guardian and follow his step.” With that, the father disappeared and so did the throne hall. They were surrounded by clouds and a pavilion. A calm stream flowed through soft grass.

The boy with white hair, just like the clouds, reached for the hand of his new guardian and was welcomed with warmth and safety.

So crawl on my belly ′til the sun goes down
I′ll never wear your broken crown
I took the road and I fucked it all away
Now in this twilight, how dare you speak of grace?
