Stuck in the Past

Summary:

Levi Ackermann used to live a normal life until he suddenly remembered his past life as captain Levi. He remembers the titans, a cruel world, his comrades and the love of his life: Eren Jaeger. He searches for him, but can't find him. What happens when the class he teaches suddenly gets 3 transfer students?

I don't know how to summarize it. T_T Everyone is reincarnated into the modern world and Levi is their teacher in high school.

Notes:

I started writing this when I moved to Korea and I already wrote some chapters. But I am losing motivation and the creativity to continue this, so hopefully I get motivated again if I publish it. Because I really want to finish the story...

I only quickly read over it, so there are propably some mistakes...

Anyway, enjoy reading!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Chapter Text

Levi Ackermann, 30 years of age and a teacher at Eldian High School.

He lived a normal life until he was in his final year in university. At the age of 21 he regained his memories of his past life as captain Levi. Not only did he remember a cruel world full of titans and his position in the military. He also remembers that he was deeply and madly in love with his subordinate Eren Jaeger.

But Levi wasn’t the only one who remembers that past life. Back then it was the day he met Hange that his memories returned. Hange however had them earlier as well as Erwin. From that day onwards the three spend time again together, though Levi is only close to Hange.

The moment Levi found out about Eren he couldn’t stop thinking about him. He knew that Eren would be born much later than him (if he was reborn) and that it was no use looking for him at that moment. Levi dated some people here and there but it was never satisfying. His mind was just somewhere else.

Throughout his life as a teacher he asked around other schools if there was a student called Eren. He even asked old fellow classmates, who were teachers outside of Tokyo to look out for that student. But until this day he hasn’t found said person. Levi gave up on finding him many years ago. Apart from not finding him, the reason he stopped looking for him was, that at his school the others kids from back then were actually enrolled. The first brats he met were Reiner, Bertolt and Annie. Surprisingly they also had their memories. While Levi acted like he didn’t know them or talked to them, those three were friends but also got along normally with the other school kids. Levi had no reason to talk to them. It was just an information he kept in mind.

One year after those three the rest of the scouts came into his school. Everyone was a student except for Eren. Eren and his two friends that is. But they used to be together all the time back then, so it was obvious that they would be missing as well. The day when he saw Jean, Connie and Sasha in a middle school class where he was as a substitute teacher, he lost all hope to find Eren again. Those three however didn’t have any memories from back then. Levi was actually kind of glad about that. They didn’t have to remember all the cruelness and fear of that time. He always smiled fondly when he saw them be happy in class. They deserved it.

Today was Wednesday and the day all the teachers and students hated. The first day of school after summer break. Luckily though, the first day is always only 2 school hours in the afternoon to adapt to the school. The scouts are now in their first year of high school while the former titan shifters are in their second year. Meaning, they are now the age when Levi first met Eren. The fact that he can’t meet Eren again at that time really stung. Levi is in the teachers’ lounge talking to a colleague and getting his new class assigned. He is a teacher for math and English, therefore he will be appointed to many classes. He quickly looked through the names and saw that he was assigned to the classes of the brats. Not that he minded. If anything, it had a nostalgic feeling to it.

Levi gave his colleague a quick bow and left for one of the exits. While he turned around a table, he noticed from the corner of his eye a small group of people enter from another door. Levi recognized by the voice that someone of that group was a teacher and was about to introduce the group to another teacher, but Levi couldn’t care less and left the room without looking behind to see who entered. He had to teach some third years how to calculate matrices instead.

It’s Thursday and Levi didn’t want to get out of bed. Today was the actual first day and he wasn’t looking forward to spend the entire day with some random kids and learn all their names. Most of their names, because he already knew some of them. But that didn’t change his rather bad mood. After a coffee he was already much more enthusiastic about the day ahead of him.

When he arrived at school, he parked his car in the parking lot and saw the kids entering the school gate. Levi was usually just right before the lesson starts at school. He didn’t need to prepare much for his classes. He just quickly went to the teachers’ lounge to grab a few things and head to the classrooms. This time however, his colleague pressed him a another paper in his hand for his first class.

“There are three transfer students for your first class. The paper only got updates just now, so make sure to use this one while taking attendance.”

“Yeah yeah sure whatever.” Levi waved his other hand and grabbed the paper. “I’m off, can’t be too late.” Like always Levi strolls through the halls and already didn’t care for the transfer students. They just increased the number of names he had to learn. Such a hassle. Luckily Levi wasn’t known to be particularly nice to students anyway, so he didn’t have to put up an act or anything.

With a strong push he opened the classroom door. All the students were silent and already sitting on their desk. Seems like they already knew what to expect when they saw his name on their syllabus. A smile grind crept his face and he walked to the black board not caring to look at the students. He turns directly at the blackboard and wrote his name on the blackboard.

“For the transfer students: I am Levi Ackermann and I will be your English and math teacher. That’s all there is to it.” He turns around only vaguely scanning through the first row. He takes his pen and put the paper in front of him. “Okay guys, we make the roll call quick, we gotta get started with class.”

The names were sorted in alphabetical order. The first name on the list made him drop his mouth open. He wasn’t expecting to see his own name on the paper and his eyes immediately scanned the name under the first person. “Arlert” was also not a name he expected to read.

Before even scanning thought the list further, he jerked his head up and stared with wide eyes. He looked over the classroom only to find three all too familiar faces.

“Eren…” Levi whispered to himself.
