Work Text:

Cupid wholeheartedly hates working during a concert. It's not only the loud sound, the flashing lights, the fans screaming and sweating and moving. The effervescence is upsetting, but Cupid doesn't especially hate the fans. No, they hate the idols. Idols are most definitely the ones to blame.

Johnny's concerts are a pain in Cupid’s chubby, cherubic ass. Those shows are extremely lovely, well thought-out and filled with most of the fanservice requirements. In other words, they are super effective and Cupid doesn't have a minute to breathe during the entire event.

And no one gives Cupid extra work like Masuda Takahisa.

He's not the most popular talent of the industry (but he's well positioned according to the last magazine Cupid’s read). Even if he’s NEWS’ center, the band doesn't have the biggest fanclub nor the best visibility. One would argue that there are plenty of Johnny’s out there worth Cupid’s curses, but it's the way people fall in love with Masuda so easily.

In fact, they don't know one single being who can remain unmoved by the singer. Last time they showed a picture of Masuda to God, she blushed. And bought his uchiwa.

At every concert NEWS holds, Cupid needs to show up and shoot hundreds of arrows into crowds of fans. It's a love massacre every damned time and at the end of the day, when the two lives are over, Cupid can't feel their fingers.

That night is no exception. They’re bitching their way through the cheering crowd, repeating unholy maledictions in their mind because it helps them to relax, when they spot some dude who just fell for Kato Shigeaki. Quickly, they aim and fire an arrow through his heart, then they fly swiftly away to find the next victim, reserving some of their wrath for the hot writer.

The lights change and a music they know too well starts playing.

“Everybody, let’s jump together!” Koyama Keiichiro shouts and starts the countdown : “Here we go! One… two… jump!”

It’s the signal everyone needs to start enumerating days of the weeeek as one. People with enough energy jump repeatedly, but lots of them just kindly wave their penlights. Cupid swears and flies higher. Another thing they hate about concerts is songs getting stuck in their head.

“I’m looking forward to Sunday too…” They mumble to themself.

Their feathers flutter. They can feel it : someone is about to fall for Masuda. Their instinct leads them to a little girl with sparkling eyes. She's so small that Cupid has to come closer to the crowd, but people are dancing (or more likely bouncing) around her. They think they finally got a shot but a knock of uchiwa makes them lose their balance and the arrow flies through the venue.

Petrified, Cupid can only witness the arrow hit Koyama right in the heart.

The man's grin faints. Time stops. Masuda notices and grabs his hand to jump in sync with him. Koyama blinks and starts singing again, but he can’t take his eyes off his colleague as a soft smile enlightens his face.

Oh crap.
