Work Text:
“This is kinda dumb, Ricky.” Julian tried to keep the exasperation out of his voice, he really did, but this just felt stupid. “I’d rather not have my ribs break, man.”
Recently, Bubbles and Ricky had discovered the appeal of weighted blankets, and it had somehow ended up where they were now: Ricky insisting to lay on top of Julian ‘to really show him how it felt.’ Ricky himself had even admitted they felt terrible, so Julian had no idea why he thought they’d work on him of all people.
“C’mon, man! Bubbles said this shit really works for people with fucked up sleeping— just like you!” He tried not to take that personally. “Besides, Bubbles even got one for himself and it knocked him out in like ten minutes flat.”
It sounded tempting, loathe as Julian was to admit it. Tossing and turning all night had gotten old a decade ago, and he did hate how fluffy the blankets always were. They gathered up around his legs and arms and felt like shackles once it was late enough. It was just… Ricky. It was embarrassing, the idea of being that close to him even if he had an equally embarrassing habit of dozing off on him.
“I think you should at least try it, why waste time tryin’ to steal one of those things when you got me right here.” Speaking of the devil, Ricky patted himself on the chest with an achingly sweet smile.
This was ridiculous. Fuck Ricky and his dumb handsome face.
“Ugh, fine. Whatever.” He rolled his eyes and tried to pretend the flush across his face wasn’t there, even though Ricky’s smile had quickly turned leering. “If it’ll convince you this shit doesn’t work then fine, but drop it after. Deal?”
“You got a deal, Jules.” A sarcastic thumbs up, before Ricky threw himself down on Julian’s bed and kicked his shoes off, patting the mattress next to him like a little kid.
Julian was still grumbling under his breath as he laid down, glaring at the ceiling with that exaggerated scowl he used when he wasn’t actually angry. He had to keep up appearances, obviously. He slowly toed his shoes off, setting his glass down on the barren bedside table before dropping his keys next to it and accepting his fate.
Ricky slowly shifted on top of him, still grinning softly as he slowly laid himself down on top of Julian, gradually adding more and more of his weight. He was making a point to not hurt him any , Julian noted in the back of his mind, before the other man was fully pressed against him.
This was actually… nice?
Really nice. Ridiculously nice. What the fuck.
Ricky was warm and solid against his body, heavier than the women that usually crawled into his bed and comfortably familiar.
Julian’s eyes were heavy, and he fought off a yawn— before Ricky yawned against his shoulder and it started off a chain reaction. The ginger snorted after the fact, before a callused hand inched up and began softly stroking along his hairline. “How’s it, bud?” Ricky whispered against his collarbone, and he could only manage a grunt in response before he gave up and let his eyes shut.
Five minutes would be fine.
*****
“Jules?” No answer, just steady breathing against Ricky’s neck. He craned his head down as best he could to try and get a glimpse of the other man, his suspicions confirmed when he succeeded. Julian had quietly fallen asleep, face smoothed out and a halo of black curls surrounding his head.
It hadn’t even been twenty minutes.
Ricky silently celebrated, a grin spreading across his face as he kept on staring. Julian was always so pretty when he slept, he dropped that constant scowl and immediately looked years younger. He shifted awkwardly, freeing one of his hands and stroking a thumb delicately across the other’s cheekbone. He watched Julian’s nose crinkle in response with a chuckle.
Cute.
Ricky only halted the motion when it looked like Julian was going to wake up, laying down properly across him again and cheering in his head when the other practically melted against. A few minutes passed and Ricky slowly wiggled his socks off, unbuttoning his pants and slowly maneuvering out of those too.
He had no damn clue how long Julian was gonna sleep for, so he might as well get comfortable for the long haul.
