Kelsey's agitation continued growing. Her life had never been easy. However, she wouldn't wish how lonely and empty it was on anyone. The young woman never had a single friend in the real world. She didn't get to go to films with people other then her bitchy twin sister. Truthfully her sister continuously found a way to spoil the movie. So it never was fun.

Furthermore, the young woman never had a birthday party! No one had shown up when she turned eighteen. No wonder her mind never recollected anything positive. Caught in a storm of neverending despair and heartbreak, why would she remember anything remotely delightful? She had far too much time on her hands with nothing to do.

You could only write or draw so much before it became a chore. The same with watching TV or reading books. She spent her days trapped in her small apartment where virtually all the other tenants were bitchy. Sure she had her cat, Akiko. However, her gorgeous black cat couldn't talk back to her.

It was the silence that genuinely killed her. Some individuals could be satisfied without social interaction. However, the author needed attention and interaction as badly as she needed to breathe. Sadly, it wasn't meant to be since no one called her back or returned any of her messages.

Unless she did everything first, no one bothered to contact her. She also had to deal with an unbearable lack of support for her mental health issues. This entire year had been one of the shittiest of her thirty-five years on Earth! Either way, with her abusive family, lack of friends, and no real life. It remained astounding she hadn't done something drastic before.

She held the bottle of portal potion in her hand. She had received it months ago and had used it to go into her Avatar story series "Shards of the Elements." She did desire to return to that world again. The second bottle she'd created within the Avatar universe was much larger then the original one. However, what Kelsey desired more than anything at the moment. She desperately wanted to have a friend over, even for a few hours.

She glanced at her cat sleeping in her winter closet. Finally, the young woman made up her mind. She logged onto A03 and clicked one of her modern-day AU Avatar one-shots. She squirted a slight mist on the screen. Crossing her fingers, this would work. The computer screen glowed for several moments, and the young writer stumbled and collapsed onto her bed.

The brilliant light eventually died. There standing before stood her character Akiko! Her captivating character was dressed in the trendy outfit she'd designed for her when she'd written her Avatar Wan High stories years ago.

Akiko blinked in bewilderment for a few moments. She took in her environment before noticing the youthful female before her. Kelsey had always looked and sounded much younger then her actual age. Some declared that was a good thing. However, she felt most of the time that it wasn't. Yet that wasn't here or there! One of her best characters was in her bedroom!

"Excuse me? Kelsey? Where am I? What am I doing here?" the Fire Nation teen asked, confused. Akiko unquestionably understood she wasn't in her reality any longer. It was bizarre she wasn't panicking as she stood there calmly.

"I'm surprised you remember me. Considering I used a different narrative for the portal potion," remarked the young woman. She brushed her untidy, fading aquamarine hair out of her face to look at the teen properly. The young woman could scarcely contain her excitement at having one of her best original characters in her apartment!

Akiko grinned before answering, "Alanna explained after you departed that your presence touched all realities we exist in. Consequently, if we ever encountered you once more. Our memories of you would immediately return to us," the green-eyed goddess explained to the young woman.

"Well, I'm overjoyed I don't have to explain myself again! I'm thrilled that I have excellent taste in fashion," as she eyed Akiko's clothing. "People always tell me I sketch incredible clothing items!"

She paused to catch her breath before finishing, "However, I only try to draw what I think actual individuals would wear. I'm no fashion designer. I can't even sew! Nevertheless, I believe I do a reasonably good job with fashion."

"I'd have to agree with you," Akiko nodded. The alluring sixteen-year-old stood dressed in a brilliant red crop top that exposed her midriff. She had a vivid red miniskirt over stylish ebony jeans, red pinstripes, and tall red leather boots.

Her jet-black hair and golden accessories were the same as any of her other stories regarding this fascinating character. Kelsey felt delighted as Akiko again asked why she'd been summoned.

Kelsey quickly gave her the short version of why she'd called her through the portal. That it boiled down to the fact, she was lonely. Moreover, tired of never having anyone over to do something with.

"We can't go outside, given its only 18 degrees. Honestly, I wouldn't say I like winter. I favor the warmer months when I can ride my bike to the park. Consequently, I apologize. We cannot do that," the young woman replied sadly.

"It's alright, Kelsey. However, what would you like to do instead? I can already tell you have a small apartment and not much to do."

"Well, the Roku channel currently has an anime called "Inuyasha" playing on it. Two of my online sisters got me into it. So we could watch that for a couple of hours. It's going to be dark shortly, at any rate.

"Well, I'd be delighted to watch it with you. Do you have anything to eat or drink?" the teen failed to stifle her growling stomach. Kelsey couldn't, in truth, cook. So truthfully, she just threw everything in the microwave. Not to mention there wasn't any need to set off the fire alarm.

That damn thing was way too sensitive! In all the time she'd lived in this building, there hadn't been an actual fire. Just burnt meals because the smoke alarms were too damn sensitive. Instead, she replied, "I'll make fruit smoothies and throw some hot dogs into the microwave. Just go sit on the sofa."

Akiko did as instructed. She heard the blender and microwave working before Kelsey returned. She hauled her coffee table closer so they'd both have a place to eat. Unfortunately, due to the apartment's size, there wasn't a place for a proper table.

Kelsey clicked her remote and quickly found what she was looking for. Then hit play and appreciated Akiko's company while watching one of the best anime ever! However, the true treat was when her cat Akiko sat on her character Akiko's lap.

Akiko regrettably had to return to her world before Kelsey went to bed. She embraced her tightly and thanked her for keeping her company for a few hours. Akiko assured her she'd gladly do it again. Or better yet. Kelsey should return to their world for a mini vacation if her real life were this heartbreaking. Allow herself a break from her unfortunate reality and have some fun.

Kelsey assured Akiko she planned on doing it shortly. They hugged once more before Akiko returned to her reality. Kelsey ultimately felt genuine happiness and knew joyful dreams were awaiting her.
