Destructive interference in form of egotistic brothers

Summary:

"Not everyone is as impulsive as you. If we all were, this family wouldn't still be standing." Kinn cut in, irritated.

"Family?" Kim chuckles darkly. "Don't make me laugh. This is a business. That's why you're able to treat the lives of your bodyguards so carelessly. Because they're not your actual family. Because you've never once had to be in the field to do the dirty work. All you do is sit down and yell orders, going into meetings with backup because you can never do it yourself."

Notes:

You'll never guess who it is

Chapter 1: Kim goes off

Chapter Text

Kim burst into the mansion, throwing the bodyguards standing by the door into a flurry.

"Khun Kim! You're back." They hurried to right themselves since they were all lazing around before. Judging by how flustered they were, they must be the new hires he got for the family through Big. He made a mental note to tell Big to vet them again and kick out the dodgy ones when he made eye contact with them and saw how some avoided his gaze. Then again, they could simply just be scared of him after all his reputation precedes him.

Kim the musician was quiet but lovely. Probably one of the most straightforward celebrities to the point of almost being mean but he was well loved and no one could ever say they truly feared him. The Kim the bodyguards were accustomed to however was Kim the third Theerapanyakun heir. Vicious, impulsive, unforgiving and whatever the fuck Macau mentioned when he was making that god-awful slideshow explaining their family tree to Chay.

The new guys had probably heard about him and were probably scared of him because of that.

That works too. He likes being feared.

He lingers in the pathway, not wanting to meet with his brother yet, even though he knew the sooner he did, the faster he could get it over with. He just got back from being on tour for three months, which was partially an excuse for Kinn to give him overseas work even though he probably had people that could have done it as well. He decides to move eventually, Kinn doesn't like it when he keeps him waiting and he probably knows he's back in the compound by now.

He walks straight to Kinn's office, pausing to knock (not because he had manners but because he once came upon Kinn and Porsche getting it on behind the desk and he was still mentally scarred). After hearing a 'come in', he walks into the office, sitting on a chair without any prompting from his brother who was scowling at him.

"You're back."

An eye roll. "Obviously."

"Great, what the fuck was that at the warehouse?" Kinn stands up from where he was sitting to face Kim who was slouching on the chair.

"What? No welcome party for your brother that you sent on missions even while he was on his tour, you slave driver?" He smirks then groans at Kinn's unimpressed stare, "What are you talking about?"

"The report on the warehouse containing the weapons shipment we just received says you shot the assistant of the boss."

"So?"

"So?!" Kinn yells, incredulously. "Are you fucking joking right now?"

"Still can't see what you're so mad about, I'm afraid." Kim stands up from where he was seated as well.

"Why did you shoot the assistant of one of the biggest arms dealers in Asia?"

"He was too mouthy and his face pissed me off." Kim shrugs and Kinn blinks at him.

"And?" He prompts, expecting more but as usual Kim was tight lipped.

"Did it ever occur to you that it was a stupid decision?"

"No because it was the right one. I would know, I was the one at the site after all."

"Don't give me that bullshit, what if his boss starts something because of your impulsiveness?"

"His boss has been trying to find a way to get rid of him for months. You'd know that if you actually did the research on your business partners yourself instead of just waiting for brief reports on them."

"So you decided to be a good samaritan and shot the guy? That's unlike you."

"No, I shot the guy because he tried to mess up the deal and tried to sell out our pickup details to another family. Shooting him was to alert his boss to investigate since I called him out when his other workers were there. They'll sort it out themselves." Kim rolls his eyes again, already tired of the conversation.

"I asked you why you did what you did. Why didn't you just tell me that instead of trying to piss me off like you always do?" Kinn huffs and runs his hands through his hair in exasperation.

"I volunteered the information I felt like giving. You should have asked the person that wrote the report to give you more details." Kim leans against the bookshelf in the room, eyeing his brother lazily.

"You're so full of yourself, you really think I won't shoot you for being mouthy like you did with that assistant." Kinn says hotly, making Kim burst out laughing.

"You can try. C'mon shoot me."

"Stop pissing me off, Kim."

"I'm serious. Shoot me, I'll even move closer to make it easier for you." True to form, he actually moves closer and nods at Kinn's gun, egging him on. It was always like this with them, little arguments escalating into almost brawls.

"Boys! Put your guns away, this is a family compound and there are children present." Tankhun slams the door open, sashaying into the room with Chay, who looks nervous but protective of Kim, already moving to latch onto him with a scowl on his face directed at Kinn.

"How did you know they were fighting?" Chay asks, looking at Tankhun.

"They're in the same room. Alone. That's enough reason."

The other two ignored their discussion and continued staring at each other.

"If that's all, I think I'll be leaving now." Kim says breaking their eye contact.

Kinn sighs,"You can leave, we'll re-visit this later."

"There's nothing to re-visit. The assistant tried to mess with us and I took care of it, end of story." With that, he pulls Chay out of the room, slightly miffed but glad to be out of his brother's presence.

He had barely closed the door to the younger boy's room when Kim feels himself being pushed to the wall suddenly. Bringing both hands up to clasp his surprised face, Chay slots their mouths together, quickly swiping his tongue against Kim’s bottom lip, a move that has Kim groaning immediately. Kim sighs into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Chay’s little waist, tugging him closer and letting his hands travel dangerously low. Chay squeaks a little at the feeling of Kim grabbing his ass.

They continue that way, devouring each other until Kim pulls back for air, smirking in satisfaction at how ruined Chay looks already. He hasn't seen his baby in so long.

"Missed me angel?"

Chay smiles back sweetly, a picture of innocence despite his rosy cheeks and swollen lips.

"So much."

"Are you fucking serious?"

Kinn looks up from his papers to see a fuming Kim storming into his office. He eyes him a bit, noting the way he leaned more on his left leg and was slightly panting.

"What happened to your leg?" He says, already standing up to check it.

"Quit the fake care routine, what the fuck were you thinking? You revoked my order on the Jakarta deal without even telling me and I'm just finding out about it today." He brushes off Kinn's question with a scowl, looking like he was on the verge of punching or shooting Kinn.

"Why are you so angry?" Kinn sighs, knowing he wouldn't get anything about the injury out of Kim when he was this wound up.

"Why am I- A bodyguard just got shot and is in a fatal condition because your stupid ass-"

"Watch your tone." Kinn says firmly.

"Your stupid fucking ass," Kim emphasises already too far gone in his anger, "thought it was best to revoke my order despite not being filled in on the type of people we were dealing with and now we got fucking ambushed, the deal got cut off and three bodyguards got injured with one almost dying."

"What the fuck? How did all this happen? Mr Anarak promised me he would get them under control if we held off for a while."

"Yeah like promises mean jackshit in this world."

"I can't believe we lost the deal." Kinn sighs and runs his hands through his hair in frustration.

Kim gapes at him, "That's really the first thing that bothers you? Not the fact that one of your men almost fucking died because of your stupid decision?"

"There's hardly anything I can do about it, I'll pay him a visit soon. I have to deal with this issue first."

"This issue wouldn't have been an issue if you just fucking listened to me for once. This is the third business bust we've had in four months and it's all your fault, you know." He pauses.

"For a leader you hesitate too much. Do you really have no fucking idea how to run a business?"

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"The failed deals, the constant threat on your people, you could have easily prevented most of them by taking action immediately but you chose to wait like a fucking coward cus you're so indecisive-"

"I let a lot of things go because you're my brother but I swear if you continue with your nonsense, I'll have you punished for insubordination." Kinn says, moving to grab Kim's collar.

"Fuck that." Kim spits. "You're the fucking leader but you're shit at hand to hand combat and your aim is pretty fucking weak for a so called heir of a mafia family. You've got to be protected all the time. You're so fucking emotional too-"

"Oh look who's fucking talking-"

"And you're so fucking indecisive. And you're such a pretender, you make it seem like you're listening to advice you're given when you just move with your ego. I told you to never mess with my missions without telling me but you never fucking listen. Now we have a man lying unconscious fighting for his life because you didn't bother to listen to someone on your own team. You're a shitty leader."

"Yet father still picked me over you." Kinn says smugly, like it was supposed to hurt Kim and jerks in surprise when he laughs instead.

"It's been long since I felt any form of affection for that man, even before you got chosen so I don't understand why you thought that would hurt me. You being chosen as his heir? Well that wasn't shocking considering you were always his perfect little obedient puppy."

"So he was supposed to pick the psychotic nutjob with the patience of a toddler?" Kinn pushes at Kim's chest derisively.

"Anything is better than the grownass manchild who got tricked by a terrible liar into falling in love, almost losing the family's place at the top of the business because he couldn't figure out who to trust and almost fucking got himself killed." Kim goads. Kinn stares him down for a solid minute before letting go of him.

"Look I don't feel like playing your game today. When you've gotten some sleep, write me a report on everything that happened today. You're dismissed."

"So with all I've said, you're still going to be like that?"

"I'm a busy man, Kim. Get out of my office."

"You're so-" He is interrupted by Tankhun entering Kinn's office, most definitely drawn by the sound of them arguing. He receives a questioning look from his eldest brother but ignores it in favour of glaring at Kinn.

"Also I was going to let you off for a while because of your injury but since you're obviously fine enough to start a fight, I'll be sending you on a mission tomorrow morning. Bright and early. Big will give you the details." He waves his hand to dismiss the murderous man in front of him.

Kim moves to argue but knew it was no use. Kinn would probably just send him on more terrible missions if he decides to resist.

"You're a piece of shit." Kim grits out and turns to leave the room. He roughly pushes past Tankhun who looks at him in confusion as he limps away in anger.
