"What the hell was that earlier?!" Inuyasha demanded in anger. They finally returned home after fighting the demon tree and he couldn't get her little stunt out of his mind.
"What was what earlier?" Kagome responded innocently while putting on her sleeping yukata. He couldn't help but let out a irritated growl.
"You know exactly what I'm talking about! You just jumped with no warning!"
"Oooh that! Well, like I said earlier I knew you'd catch me."
"Yeah obviously I would but-!" He took a deep breath in a poor attempt to calm down, clenching and unclenching his fists. "That... That's not the point. You scared me. Really badly." She stopped her hands from tying the sash around her waist and looked at him but his eyes were over shadowed by his messy bangs.
"Inuyasha I... I'm sorry. I was so focused on the task at hand that I wasn't thinking. I never meant to worry you." He made a frustrated grunting sound.
"What did you think would happen?! That I'd be okay with my wife, who until recently I was separated from for three excruciating years, just do a death defying stunt and then act like nothing happened?!" Kagome was stunned. She couldn't find a single word that might help relieve his tension. She opened her mouth to speak, unsure of what exactly would come out, but then a pair of arms were around her shoulders and pulling her into his chest. Inuyasha's long, red sleeves were like a warm, comforting blanket. She took in his earthy scent.
"I really am sorry, Inuyasha. That was stupid of me." She apologized again. His embrace tightened a little.
"Just... Please... Don't ever do something like that again." He begged her in a soft, trembling voice. "I had to live without you for three whole years and it was torture, Kagome. Never again. Not even for a second. I never want to be apart from you ever again." She could feel the emotions rising up, the tears coming like a water fall. Her eyes burned from them.
"Me too! They were the worst three years of my life! I never want to be separated from you either. Promise me you'll stay by my side forever!" She cried into his fire rat haori. Kagome was surprised to hear him laugh.
"I married ya didn't I? Ya dope." Inuyasha took their hands and placed them over his heart, his smile was gentle and loving. "I promise." He whispered before kissing her.
