Chapter Text
The light shines through the windows of Microphone's room. While covered by blinds, the light still seems to find its way to seep into the dark, cold room. On the left of the room stood Soap's bed. Pink and white sheets striped over the cloth, fluffy pink pillows falling to the floor. "The floor" was considered Taco's bed, her thick mattress on the floor covered by red and green colored sheets and pillows. Her blanket was the thickest one out of the three of them, warm and cozy with its polka dot design. Microphone snored in her bed, black and purple contrasting in spiky and loud design on her pillows and blanket. Soap slept peacefully, the comforting sounds of her gentle snores waking up Taco.
The short girl sat up slowly, groaning softly into her messy bed hair. Her loose blonde curls hung over her face accompanied by her furrowed eyebrows and her death stare. She wasn't exactly a morning person, her mind being able to recover from her not-so-elegant wake-up routine with a cup of tea and some time out in the garden on her own. Of course, she was never always alone whenever she went outside. YinYang and the Cherries go outside at around 8 AM to catch butterflies, Trophy goes outside to exercise and take pictures at 6 AM, and Taco being one of the few early birds, steps outside to bask in the early morning sun.
It was 7 AM, splashing her face with water by the sink. She stood there for a moment, taking some gunk out of her eyes before looking at herself in the mirror. She had combed her hair quite a bit before heading to the bathroom. A splash of freckles covered her cheeks and nose. She sighs, grabbing her towel from the side to pat her face down.
When she almost finishes up, she's brought to a stop when she hears a set of footsteps beside her. She recognizes the difference between these footsteps from the other, and she looks up from her towel with a scowl.
"You're up early. Too early." She gives Soap an annoyed look, the pink-haired girl just yawning. "I'm gonna do some early cleaning today. Some idiots made a mess downstairs last night and didn't clean up."
Of course Taco knows who she was referring to. After Inanimate Insanity had taken a hiatus for a while, the rest of the contestants moved in as well. One of them included Knife, who didn't stop playing video games with Pickle all day long.
Taco was surprised their asses weren't glued to the sofa at this point.
Soap yawns again, wiping her face with her own towel. "You're up to no good again today, aren't you?" Taco giggled at Soap's remark. "Not really, I need to be awake long enough today to help Microphone later on. She's gonna rearrange her bookshelves apparently."
The shorter girl turned her back to Soap, pulling her loose shirt over her head. Taco was relatively slim, her flat stomach complimenting her slight curves that dipped against her waist. Her hip bones poked out of her hips slightly, her ribcage also slightly appeared on her skin. She shivered in the cold bathroom, grabbing a white blouse and buttoning it up.
Soap stared from the mirror with a soft blush on her cheeks, trying her best not to run any thoughts in her head.
She and Taco have been living together in the same dorm room for several months now. They always wake up at the same time, and as time passed, they got used to each other's presence enough to change clothes in the same room. Obviously not directly looking at each other. But Taco's bare back was enough to make her flush. More freckles sprinkled around Taco's shoulders than just her neck and face.
They keep their feelings about each other to a minimum though. The only reason they even interact was only because of Microphone, whom they shared a loving polyamorous relationship with. But with each other? They weren't sure.
They care about each other to some extent, even if Taco did take a while to warm up to Soap and vice versa.
Nothing usually goes passed possible romantic feelings though. Taco struggled to understand why she felt giddy around Soap sometimes, or why Soap curses under her breath whenever she sees Taco in her undergarments and walks out of the room.
Well, that one possibly has an explanation, but Taco tries to deny it.
There's no way she likes me like that. Sure, we love the same girl but me and her have nothing else to come by aside from that. And maybe other things but either way she probably doesn't like me that way.
Soap on the other hand dwells on it a lot. Does she love Taco or is it a dumb crush because that stupid girl just can't give her a break without looking like a mythical goddess every 5 seconds?
Soap admits it, Taco is beautiful. She's pretty and gorgeous and adorable. Especially adorable.
No, she was hot.
And she wishes to hit herself with a mop every time she has to admit it.
She wasn't all the much admirable or kind, given the way she treated everyone in season one and Microphone in season two. But ever since Mic had forgiven her, Soap of course had no choice but to accept her too. In fact, she hated Taco for a while. Pure spite and anger filled her chest every time she looked at her from across the lobby, or when she woke up in the morning and Soap was on her phone. She had every urge to whack the short girl with a pillow.
From bickering, to flirting every morning.
Taco being elbowed in the face when she toothbrushes, to feeling Soap's warm and soft hand against her bare hip. Her fingertips barely brushing against her arms and legs made her heat up with warm red cheeks every time.
How did they come to this? A now blushing mess from what was once a comedic rivalry.
"I'm going down downstairs!" Soap called out with a soft whisper. Taco nodded, putting on her grey sweatpants. She played with the waistband of her pants as she thought and stood for a moment, her cheeks flaring up immediately.
I think I do love her.
