PROLOUGE

"They're beautiful." Murmured Omen'Pelt. She is now a nursing queen for 2 kits. A red kit with some white under his neck, and a black kit with tiny white paws. Her litter was considered small within Windclan, but adorable at the same time.

"Congrats on your new litter!" Meowed White'Leaf, the medicine cat of the clan. She put down a borage infront of Omen to chew on, so she would be able to produce milk for the newborn kits.

A white Tom entered the medicine den excitingly, peering over White'Leaf's shoulder as he flicked his tail.

"I Wanna see the new kits!!!" He cheered, padding closer to Omen'Pelt as she layed on the mossy nest. He pressed his nose softly against one of the kit's fur, smiling. "They're so cuteee!!"

"Thank you, Pale'Paw." She replied, sighing with relief.

"The black one can be nanameShadow'kit." She meowed as her mate, Black'Storm entered the camp to sit besides the she.

"What about the red one?" He interrupted softly, his mane brushing against the moss.

"Maybe...Blaze...." hesitated Omen'Pelt. Memories flooded her head of the embers of the fire that wiped out her home many moons ago she shook her head, glancing back at the dark red pelted tom.

"Red-kit. It's for the better." She responded, licking her fur gently as her anxiety started to ache more. Black'Storm noticed Omen's fur pricking up, sensing she remembered the past events within the clan. He quietly Purred, grooming the top of Omen's head to ease her stress.

"They're great names." He reassured her, wrapping his tail around her and the kits. Omen'Pelt flashed him a grateful glance as she purred as well. Hopefully things go well, right?

CHAPTER 1

A couple of moons passed, and redkit was atleast 3 moons now. He always played with his brother,  shadowkit in the grass patches around the clan.

As the two Tom's played around with the bugs in the grass patch, another kit, white and fluffy approached the two. Redkit stuttered, trying to phrase his words correctly as the white kit talked to shadowkit.

"Hey!" Interrupted redkit. The white kit turned around, his ear tuff raising.
"What?" Hissed the kit playfully.
"Who are you?" Meowed redkit, padding closer to the two Tom's. His fur pricked up in jealously, but he tried to tone down as there was no need.

"Featherkit. I'm shadow'kit's friend!" Repleid the Tom.  Feather'kit dipped his tiny head, then tugging shadow'kit to the elders to talk with them. Redkit followed with uncomfort, not trusting the Tom's actions.  He approached the two as they played around with the elders.

"Oh my you are a swift one, young featherkit!" Meowed Half-pelt. The Tom sat on the mossy patches under the large branch.

Redkit glared at featherkit with jealously and rage. Such a foul kit to steal his brother, his FRIEND from his grasp, like he was nothing. Redkit approached shadow'kit, asking if they could go to mom or dad, but shadow'kit resisted.

"Why don't you want to stick stick Feather'kit?" Meowed shadow'kit.

"Because he doesn't seem to like me." Replied red'kit. His fur pricked up again as he saw the white tom once again approach the two, just to ask shadow'kit to join him in the grass patches.

"H-hey I wanna go too!" Yelled redkit.
"We don't need a flaming cat with us in the grass." Hissed Feather'kit. He ran off with shadow'kit towards the grass patch that the brothers played in before.

Red'kit choked, tears falling through his amber eyes as he watched his brother leave him. It was painful, to him, to see his own blood accept another kit than himself. He pouted, walking to the nursery in shame.

"Mama! Shadow'kit betrayed me!!" Cried red'kit as he sobbed within his mother's coat. Her eyes were almost dull, like her tiredness was getting to best of her more than she can control.

"I'm sure he didn't my dear. Shadow'kit probably just went to have fun with another kit for one day! He didn't betray you." Purred Omen'Fur.

"But w-why would he just let that kit take him away from me!" Pouted the small Tom. His cries became muffled as he shoved himself closer to his mother.

Black'Storm approached the nursing queen, laying besides her as his son continued his cries and pouts.

"Any luck..?" He Murmured into the she's ears. She nodded in no, sighing as she rested her head besides her mate's fur. Red'kit finally stopped crying, falling asleep against his mother's mane.

It was 3 moons later. Red'Kit had to wait a couple of hours before him and Shadow'kit's ceremony. Over the moons he had to adjust to shadow'kit being friends with feather'kit, but there was an issue.
Featherkit has been a jerk towards Red'kit, bullying him for his red coat and threatening him. Despite him telling his mother, the queens don't do nothing about it. It's almost like they prefer Feather'kit.

Shadow'kit approached Red'kit as he was in his thoughts, startling him as he landed onto the grass patch.

"Haha! Sorry Brother!!" Chuckled the black Tom. He sat down besides Red'kit as he adjusted himself.
"Are you ready for our ceremony?" Meowed shadow'kit as his tail lashed in excitement.

"Yeah...just worried about Feather'kit.." Replied red'kit with a hunch. His ears pinned downwards, worrying his brother.

"Calm down, Feather'kit won't bother you. It's gonna be a good time!"
"BUT WHAT IF ITS NOT!?" Hissed Red'kit, his tail lashing as he stood up in anger. "HES BULLIED ME FOR MY WHOLE KITHOOD, AND YOU WERE TOO BLIND TO SEE IT!"

Red'kit choked on his words, tears falling from his eyes as he clenched onto the grass. He sat back down with a groan, his claws digging into the dirt as he broke down. Shadow'kit put his tail around the red Tom, attempting to comfort his brother as he let it out.

Featherkit approached not to long, and his face was given with rage and jealousy as the red Tom sobbed by his brother's side.

"Shadow'kit! What are you doing? Our ceremony is almost here"

"Can't you see I'm a bit occupied right now Feather'kit?" Interrupted Shadow'kit with a slight hiss. He toned down a bit, looking at his brother as he suddenly got up with annoyance, almost like what Red'kit was doing was a sign of Feather'kit not giving a crap.

"Jeez, just let him be. He'll be fine! Cmon!" Responded Feather'kit with a small snicker. He sprinted towards the cats in the clearing.

"You gotta stay strong brother." Meowed Shadow'kit, nudging red'kit out the grass patch. The red Tom sighed, siting up with his pelt being mixed with tears and grass. Shadow'kit quickly groomed the top of Red'kit's fur, easing his stress so they can do the ceremony.

"All Cats old enough to run with the rabbits, gather around the Tall rock for a clan meeting!!" Howled Hail'Star, taking his place upon the rock as warriors, elders, queens, and apprentices all sit in the clearing as the breeze flowed through the Tom's and felines.

"We have a few ceremonies today." Meowed the leader. "Red'kit, Shadow'kit,  Feather'kit, and Lion'Kit, please step up closer towards the rock."

The 4 kits quietly walk towards the tall rock, taking place infront of the large stone. Red'kit spotted Feather'kit taking his seat close to Shadow'kit, glaring at him with jealousy.  He sighed, looking at the rock as the leader spoke once more.

"These 4 kits have lived in our camp since their birth, for now, 6 moons later, they will be able to leap vast upon our camp."
The large Tom lifted his tail, smiling as he dipped his head.

"Shadow'kit. You are the oldest kit by a couple of hours, even mintues beyond your brother. You are now 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you get your warrior name, you will be called Shadow'Paw. Your mentor will be Sun'Streak. I hope he will pass down what he knows to you."

The black Tom lifted his tail cheerily,  as the ginger warrior approached the the new apprentice, touching his nose gently. "You will be a great warrior, young Shadow'Paw." Muttered Sun'Streak. The two sit down back in the clearing as the leader continues.

"Feather'kit, you are now 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you get your warrior name, you shall be called Feather'Paw. Your mentor shall be Puddle'Heart. I hope she will pass down what she knows onto you."

The white tom dipped his head, as Puddle'Heart touched his nose gently, sitting down in the clearing.

"Lion'Kit, you are now 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you get your warrior name, you shall be called Lion'Paw. Your mentor shall be Pine'Stripe. I Hope he will pass down what he has learned onto you."
The brown Tom smiled, padding towards Pine'Stripe and touching his nose in happiness. He was excited for this more than the other new apprentices for sure.

"Red'kit. You are now 6 moons, and it is time for you to be apprenticed. From this day on, until you get your warrior name, you shall be called Red'Paw. Your new mentor will be our deputy, Hawk'Light. I hope he will pass down what he has learned onto you."

Red'Paw gasped quietly. He was shocked his mentor would be the deputy of the clan, and his fur pricked up a little bit.  The large Tom walked towards young Red'Paw, touching his nose gently.

"You will be a great warrior, Red'Paw." Whispered the deputy. He sat back on the rock, Red'Paw following to sit on the side. The Red Tom, who now was an Apprentice, looked around in awe. This is what a deputy saw? It was a weird feeling to him, and the younger kits around the camp that was just him moons ago playing in grass, just like him and his brother did.

Realization hit harder than a rock, and Red'Paw's fur shivered just from the thought of it. "What's the matter?" Murmured Hawk'Light, noticing the unusual stern pose of the cat. His tail wrapped around Red'Paw, giving him comfort with ease without disturbing the meeting.

Red'Paw kept silent. He didn't want to disturb the meeting over his own issues, but decided to slip one thing. "It's nothing." He Murmured. The deputy sighed, nodding. "If you say so." He replied as he looked back up at the Tallrock.

"Clan meeting dismissed." Meowed the Tom, leaping off the rock to discuss with the Medicine cat.

"We will start training by sunfall. It will be late, but we will be done by moonhigh." He meowed, padding over to set a sunhigh patrol. Red'Paw felt a shievr down his back, almost like he was in a dream. It was surreal to know this is his fate now. This is how he will be mentored.
