Work Text:
Minho sighs. Trust his friends to do this bullshit. It’s been non-stop the entire day – any attempt at getting him and Seungmin back together – and it was starting to piss him off.
“When I get out of here, I’m killing Changbin and Jisung.” Minho hears Seungmin mutter and, despite hating Seungmin, he has to agree.
“You and me both.” He mutters. Seungmin glares at him and Minho rolls his eyes with a scoff.
How did they even end up here? Well, that’d take us back to Halloween…

Seungmin leans closer to listen to the guy talking with him, but he finds himself still struggling to make out what he’s saying. The guy clearly sees his struggle and takes his hand, guiding him out of the main hall and upstairs into one of the dorm rooms.
“Sorry, I hadn’t registered just how loud it was down there.” The guy says and Seungmin just smiles at him, adjusting the waist band on his pants.
“It’s fine, honestly. What’s your name, by the way?” Seungmin asks. He’d lost Minho at some point throughout the night, the older man being dragged away by Hyunjin and Felix, and Seungmin had just shrugged it off, trusting them to not get his boyfriend killed.
“Ah, sorry, my name is Inseong, what’s yours?” Inseong responds, laughing lightly.
“I’m Seungmin.” Seungmin smiles as he responds and Inseong smiles in return.
“Give me your hands.” Inseong asks randomly, Seungmin tilting his head in confusion.
“Why?”
“Just trust me.” Seungmin huffs. He’s not really a trusting person, but he thinks it can’t be that bad, so he holds his hands out, unaware of the sound of footsteps walking closer to the room him and Inseong are in. Inseong takes both of Seungmin’s wrist in his right hand, his left hand pushing Seungmin against the wall of the dorm room. Inseong leans closer and if anyone were to walk in, they’d probably think they were kissing.
“I’m sorry for this. It was a bet.” Inseong whispers, before the door slams open, bouncing off the wall, and Inseong pulls away, fake panting. Seungmin can just make out the neon green of his boyfriend’s Halloween costume and he feels sick. What did Minho think was happening? Inseong lets go of Seungmin’s wrists and walks away, past Minho, and out the door. Why was Minho letting him go?
Seungmin pushes forward, ready to rush forward and wrap his arms around Minho’s form, tears dripping from his eyes, when Minho steps back.
“Don’t come near me.” Minho grits out and Seungmin grinds to a halt, his boots making him stumble and fall onto his knees.
“Wh-what do you mean?” Seungmin asks. He can’t bring himself to stand up and he has to admit he feels pathetic like this – kneeling on the floor as he stares up at his boyfriend with tears trailing tracks down his cheeks.
“You cheated on me!” Minho spits and Seungmin winces.
“No, no, that’s not what happened.” Seungmin regrets the sentence the second it leaves his mouth. Now he actually sounds guilty.
“Leave me alone, Kim Seungmin, we’re done. Go fuck around with someone else.” Minho says and stomps out of the room. Seungmin feels his heart crack and it isn’t until Jeongin comes bursting into the room that Seungmin finally looks up from the floor again.
“What happened? Minnie?” Jeongin asks, helping Seungmin stand up. The older collapses into Jeongin’s arms and sobs.
“He accused me of cheating. But, but Inseong, he said it was a bet. He pinned me against the wall and made it seem like we were kissing.” Seungmin mutters through tears into Jeongin’s neck.
“Oh, puppy, I’m so sorry.” Jeongin says and Seungmin sniffles a few times before pulling away.
“Don’t worry about it, let’s just get out of here, please. And please don’t say anything to anyone else, not even Chan, please Innie.” Seungmin begs and Jeongin nods.
“Okay, okay, yeah, I won’t say anything. Come on, Minnie.” Jeongin responds, leading Seungmin downstairs and out of the party.
The pair manage to make it out the front door and halfway down the drive before Seungmin gags and falls to his knees, vomiting. Jeongin is quick to crouch down beside him and rub his back, despite his own gagging. When Seungmin is done, he stands up and rubs at his face.
“Let’s just get home, please, Jeongin.” Seungmin mutters, his voice broken from his retching. Jeongin nods.
“Yeah, let’s.”

It’s early December when Chan comes running up to Minho, a letter in his hand. Minho sighs and pulls out his earphones when he sees Chan approaching.
“What do you want?” Minho asks, cutting straight to the point. He’s seen Jeongin and Seungmin flirting twice today, and he thinks he’s gonna be sick. He just wants to go home and curl up under his bedsheets in the room he shares with Changbin and forget about the events of the day.
“It’s an invitation to the Christmas sleepover me and Hyunjin are hosting!” Chan practically chirps at him, and Minho holds back his groan. He’s just being nice, Minho mentally reminds himself.
“No offense, but why would I come to this sleepover when I know you’ve invited Seungmin?” Minho asks, hands still firmly tucked into his pockets.
“Please, Min. I’ll make sure you two stay separate. Just, please? It won’t feel right without all seven of my closest friends there.” Chan says and Minho feels his resistance crumble. He sighs, finally pulling his left hand from his pocket to snatch at Chan’s invite. The smile on the elder’s face annoys Minho, but he knows he’s stuck in it now.
“Fine. But if you try any shit, Chan, I will personally smash your computer myself.” Minho says, the bite in his words having no effect due to the fact that Chan knows Minho perfectly and knows that Minho isn’t that mean.
“Thank you Min! I’ll see you in Dr. Lim’s class tomorrow, yeah?” Chan says and Minho nods. Seemingly satisfied with the answer, Chan walks off and Minho huffs before putting his headphones back in and continuing his walk back to the dorm.
Minho will show Chan that facing Seungmin doesn’t scare him anymore. He will.
*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*
“So, Minho is coming?” Seungmin asks tentatively. When Jeongin nods his head with an affirmative hum, Seungmin feels a familiar burning sensation start up in his throat and he has to swallow down the urge to vomit at the thought of facing Minho again.
“It’ll be fine, I promise.” Jeongin says, finally locking his phone and standing up from his bed to cross the room and sit with Seungmin.
“Mhm, sure it will. Eight friends get together for a sleepover, six of whom are dating each other and will cling to each other the entire time, whilst the two loners whose relationship fell apart cause of a fuckboy who wanted to win a bet have to just vibe and avoid each other. Yeah, that’ll work.” Seungmin says, venom seeping into his words. He yelps when Jeongin pinches his side and turns to glare at the younger. “What was that for?” He asks.
“Stop being so negative already!” Jeongin says and Seungmin huffs.
“Why? I don’t think I should come to the sleepover, Innie.” Seungmin says, resting his face in his hands, his elbows digging into his knees at the pressure.
“Nope, not allowed. I promised Chan I’d bring you along, so you’re just gonna have to deal with it. I’m sorry, but you’re stuck.” Jeongin replies and Seungmin untucks his right arm from where it sits between his chin and his knee and pushes Jeongin away, the younger laughing as he falls.
“Fine. But only because I trust you and Chan. No one else, especially not Changbin & Jisung.” Seungmin says and Jeongin laughs again in response.
“Yay! I’ll tell Channie I’ve convinced you.” Jeongin says, pulling out his phone to text Chan again. Seungmin mentally gags at the nickname.
“Yeah, yeah, whatever. Just go be cringy with your boyfriend somewhere else.” Seungmin rolls his eyes and Jeongin, instead of doing as he’s told, clambers up to situate his face right next to Seungmin’s.
“Nope.” Jeongin says, popping the p before pulling away with a giggle. However, Seungmin remains frozen in place, shivering at the prospect of having someone that close to his face again. Jeongin seems to realise that and immediately launches into apologies.
“Stop, it’s fine, you didn’t know. I, I didn’t even realise that was gonna get to me either.” Seungmin mutters, trailing off at the end. Jeongin still has a guilty look on his face and Seungmin just wants to take all Jeongin’s guilt away. “It’s fine, seriously, dude.”
“You sure?” Jeongin asks, biting his lip. Seungmin nods.
“Yep.
“Okay.” Jeongin nods his head, his usual smile returning to his face. “I’m hungry.” He continues and Seungmin laughs.
“Come on, let’s go cook something up.” Seungmin says, standing up and stretching and Jeongin giggles.
“Woo, Minnie cooking, Minnie cooking.” Jeongin chants and Seungmin snorts with laughter at how stupid the younger acts sometimes.
“Shut up Innie.” Seungmin says and Jeongin laughs, a verbal ‘hah!’ leaving his lips.
“Sounds boring.”
“Of course it does.”

Minho steps through the doorway of Chan’s flat and is immediately tackled by one very-tipsy Han Jisung.
“Min!” Jisung yells and Minho winces at his volume.
“Hi Jisung. Thanks for telling everyone I’m here, including myself.” Minho says, sarcasm lacing his words as he untangles Jisung’s hands from around his waist. Jisung giggles before skipping off. When Minho trails after him into the living room, he’s not surprised to find Jisung curled up on Changbin’s lap, the older boy just accepting his fate with a smile.
“So who gave him the alcohol?” Minho asks as he steps into the room. Jeongin looks up at him from where’s squished between Seungmin and Chan and smiles at him.
“That would be Hyunjin’s fault. He thought it’d be funny.” Jeongin says, laughing lightly at the noise of protest Hyunjin lets out from across the room where he’s sprawled across Felix’s lap.
“I stopped them after the second cup downed, luckily.” Chan adds and Minho’s eyes widen at the knowledge that Jisung had downed two cups.
“Fucking hell, Jisung. And Hyunjin, what were you thinking?” Minho asks as he sits besides Felix and Hyunjin on the couch, eyes very pointedly fixing on Hyunjin’s, so he doesn’t stare at Seungmin instead. He can see that Seungmin is wearing the cute and fluffy blue sweater Minho adores on him and Minho doesn’t want his self-control to fly off the handle today, thank you.
“I thought it’d be fun.” Hyunjin says as he shifts to face Minho more, a pout prominent on his lips. “Besides, he’s fine, isn’t he?” He continues, turning to look at Jisung only to find the younger fast asleep in the crook of Changbin’s neck. “Oh…” Hyunjin trails off, shock evident in his tone.
Changbin is laughing softly at his friends combined shock. He looks fondly down at Jisung before facing the rest of the room once more.
“He fell asleep straight after Jeongin started speaking.” Changbin says and Minho can hear Felix and Chan cooing at him. Minho holds back the urge to gag and as his eyes brush briefly over Seungmin, he recognises a similar emotion on the younger’s face. He smiles at their similarities before remembering who exactly he’s smiling at and shaking his head to clear his mind. Felix smiles at him and Minho glares in response before shifting on the couch to avoid looking at anyone on the couch in the centre of the room.
Today and tomorrow are gonna drag.
*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*
Minho stops as he sees Seungmin also at the doorway he needs to enter. Seungmin gestures for him to go first, but Minho is adamant about being stubborn and decides he isn’t planning on giving Seungmin the satisfaction, so he gestures in return. The two stay like this, arguing back and forth until Hyunjin stalks over and holds mistletoe above their heads.
“Oh look, mistletoe, wonder how that got there?” Hyunjin says and both Seungmin and Minho glare at him.
“I suggest you move your lanky ass out of the way before I make it so you can never pleasure Felix ever again.” Minho mutters, tone dull and flat. He feels his cheeks tinge red when Seungmin muffles a laugh into his hands, though, and he wills the heat surging through his body to settle already.
“Aww, Seungmin that was cute.” Hyunjin continues, choosing to ignore Minho’s threats and Minho feels an odd, unnecessary jealousy burn up within him at Hyunjin’s compliment. It burns even brighter when Seungmin flushes red and gets shy. Minho huffs and barges past Hyunjin, smirking to himself when Hyunjin yelps.
Minho slumps on the couch next to Chan, the older happily allowing Minho to curl into his side. Seungmin and Hyunjin don’t enter the room after him and Minho feels concern settle in his brain like cobwebs.
“I told Hyunjin and Felix it was a bad idea, by the way. They just don’t listen to me.” Chan mutters into Minho’s hair and Minho huffs at hearing Felix’s name mentioned too.
“Why would Felix think that’s a good idea?” Minho mumbles back and Chan laughs lightly.
“It was Hyunjin’s idea. Of course Felix went along with it. You know what those two are like.” Chan replies and Minho sighs in response. Oh boy, does he know.
The two had gotten together after knowing each other for two weeks. Despite thinking they made a good pair, Minho had been worried how they’d hold up after practically rushing into their relationship. Luckily, things seemed to be working for them, so Minho supposes his worries were for nothing.
“True.” Minho says, silence settling over the pair before finally he speaks up again. “I really want him back, Chan.” It’s a whispered confession, but it’s one that makes Minho’s heart crack open, and tears spill down his cheeks. Before he can even properly process what’s happening, tears are falling off his face and splashing desolately on Chan’s arm.
“Oh Min…” Chan says, his voice soft as he pulls Minho up and out of his side, face to face. His gentle hands wipe away Minho’s tears until finally Minho’s crying is reduced to soft sniffles and wet cheeks. “It’ll be okay. I’m sure things will work out.” Chan says into Minho’s hair when the younger pulls him into a hug. “I promise.” Minho can only sniffle in response. He can feel the tears building up again but he’s so tired of crying. He doesn’t wanna cry anymore. The only thing he wants is answers from Seungmin, that’s all he wants.
Minho sighs pulling back from Chan’s arms before standing up and stretching.
“I’m gonna get a drink, do you want anything?” Minho asks and Chan responds with a simple request for coffee. Minho seriously appreciates Chan’s ability to read a situation and drop things when they no longer serve a healthy purpose. He smiles at the older, nodding his head before walking into the kitchen. He stops in his tracks when he sees Seungmin and Jeongin in there though.
Jeongin has Seungmin pinned to the counter and Seungmin’s face is bright red. Minho retreats a few steps before walking back in, his steps louder this time, and the two pull apart quickly. Minho feels so sick, can feel that familiar urge to vomit building in his throat. He smiles at them quickly before busying himself with the kettle. He grabs two mugs and quickly makes everything up before waiting for the water to boil.
The pair behind him are whispering, things incoherent to Minho, but the whispery sounds make his skin crawl, and he just wants to run away and bury himself under his bedsheets and hide. But he doesn’t. He ignores his desire and pours the water into the mugs before him when the kettle finally pings off. Once he’s satisfied with the drinks he’s made, he turns around and smiles at the pair before speed-walking as fast as he can into the living room. He sets Chan’s mug on the coffee table, along with his, before collapsing back against the elder’s side. Chan doesn’t question him, just lets him mutter out his annoyances.
“I think I’m gonna be sick.” Minho says and Chan laughs softly, reaching a hand up to scratch at the hair that settles at the base of Minho’s skull before muttering a response.
“You’ll be alright.”
Minho hopes so. He really does hope so.

It’s just after lunchtime when Seungmin realises that his friends are trying to get him and Minho back together. Hyunjin’s idea had failed miserably earlier, and it had been so awkward when Minho had walked in on Jeongin taunting Seungmin.
Jeongin had been taunting Seungmin after the older had confessed that he really wanted to kiss Minho under the mistletoe. And then Minho had walked in. Because of course he had.
Seungmin focuses back on the present when Jisung screams something. Him and Felix were battling it out on Mortal Kombat and, with a quick glance at the screen, it was obvious Felix was totally destroying Jisung in the game. Changbin was off to the side, laughing at his boyfriend’s failures, whilst Hyunjin sat next to Seungmin, staring at Felix with the most awe-stricken look on his face - Seungmin found that his started stomach churning at that.
Felix yells in triumph when he finally kills off Jisung’s character and Jisung throws down his controller with a pout before clambering into Changbin’s lap again. The older boy just laughs at that, hands lacing protectively around Jisung’s waist as he kisses the younger’s temple. Seungmin tears his eyes away from the sight when Felix holds his controller in Seungmin’s direction.
“You wanna play Minnie? I’m kinda tired.” Felix says and Seungmin shrugs, taking the controller and switching places with Felix.
“Minho, you should play!” Chan says and Seungmin tenses at that, turning to glare at the elder from where he sits, Jeongin’s arms around him. The younger has a mischievous glint in his eyes and Seungmin has to pinch his leg to stop himself from standing up and completely throttling him.
“Yeah, Minho, why don’t you play?” Jeongin chimes in and Seungmin swears to punch Jeongin when they get a free moment alone. He glares at Jeongin and the younger just smirks at him.
Prick, Seungmin thinks.
“No thank you, I’m trying to nap.” Minho says and Seungmin huffs at the response. Jeongin rolls his eyes and removes his arms from around Chan’s waist before shuffling onto the floor next to Seungmin.
“Fine then, I’ll play with you Minnie.” Jeongin responds and Seungmin shoots him a small appreciative grin. He hears Minho scoff beside him, and he swears he’s making it up when he hears Minho mutter ‘typical’ under his breath. He shakes it off, eyes focusing on the game as he selects Kitana. Jeongin selects Liu Kang and Seungmin can’t stop the laugh he lets out at the choices.
“Seriously? Liu Kang and Kitana? You trynna tell me something?” Seungmin says and Jeongin only laughs, shoving at the older boy. They laugh over it for a little longer before the game loads up and they quickly settle into fighting.
They are halfway through the second round (Seungmin won the first) when Seungmin makes his realisation. Hyunjin with the mistletoe earlier and now Chan and Jeongin trying to force Minho to play games when Seungmin takes his turn, despite the older saying he wasn’t gonna play earlier. It all adds up in Seungmin’s mind, and he finds annoyance burning within him. He uses that to fuel his button-mashing, whooping triumphantly when he kills Jeongin’s character with a flourish.
Seungmin laughs when Jeongin pouts over his loss but the words that come from behind Seungmin makes his skin crawl and a shiver trickle down his spine.
“Can you shut up already? You’re so loud.” Minho grumbles and Seungmin wants to think it’s aimed at both of them, but Seungmin had been the one to yell, and therefore he knows Minho is getting mad at him. Seungmin gulps, swallowing down the lump stuck in his throat and choking back the tears threatening to drip from his eyes. He focuses back on the game, picking Milena this time, before playing, much quieter this time.
If Minho wants quiet, Seungmin can do that. He can do that for him.
It hurts, Seungmin thinks, it really hurts.
*•̩̩͙✩•̩̩͙*
“Changbin! Jisung! Let us out, now!” Minho yells through the door. He’d been peacefully watching a movie with Chan after dinner when Jisung had shown up and dragged Minho into Chan’s bedroom. When Minho had seen Seungmin sat on Chan’s bed, he had noped out, immediately turning to leave when Changbin had laughed, slammed the door shut, and locked it.
“You two can stay in there until you make up or make out or fuck or whatever. Just fix your fucking issues!” Changbin yells and Minho decides he’s gonna target Changbin when he gets out of here. He huffs and slumps onto Chan’s desk chair, carefully not to touch any of the equipment on the desk. Minutes tick by and Minho realises his friends were actually being serious.
Minho lets them both sit in silence for a few more minutes before standing up and making his way over to Seungmin, standing in front of the younger boy. Seungmin stares up at him, a weird look in his eyes that makes Minho’s heart race and stomach churn, but he had to remain strong. He needs answers.
“Why’d you do it?” Minho asks and Seungmin scoffs at that, before shuffling over and patting the space next to him. Minho tentatively sits, slightly sideways so he can still face Seungmin. The younger boys turn to him, too, but doesn’t say anything. “Answer me, Seungmin.” Minho huffs and he watches as anger flickers alight in Seungmin’s eyes.
“I didn’t do what you think I did, Minho.” Is what Seungmin responds with instead and Minho can feel his own anger flicker alight at that response.
“You cheated on me. What else could it have been?” Minho snaps and Seungmin finally looks him in the eye then, eyes hard and determined. The sparkle that Minho loves so much is gone, replaced by a violent candle flame sparking away.
“’What else could it have been?’” Seungmin repeats back, doing air quotes around the sentence. “What it was, was Inseong taking advantage of me, using me to win a bet, that’s what! What it was, was my boyfriend not believing me. That’s what it was, Lee Minho.” Seungmin spits, and Minho feels all his anger wash away, replaced by a deep-seated vomit-inducing sense of guilt.
“Wait…really?” Minho asks. When tears start making their way down Seungmin’s cheeks, Minho wants to reach out and brush them off, but he can’t. He’s not allowed, he knows this much. So instead he digs his nails into his palms and swallows the guilt bubbling in his veins.
“Yes, really, Minho. Inseong used me to win a stupid bet, taking advantage of my loneliness after you had been dragged off by Felix and Hyunjin. He planned it all so you’d walk in and see the wrong thing.” Seungmin scoffs. “And you didn’t believe me. You left me. And yet, and yet I can’t find it within myself to stop missing you, to stop wanting to kiss you, to stop, to stop fucking loving you. So just, just…” The younger trails off and Minho wants to kiss him, to show him he’s exactly the same way – still so irrevocably in love with Seungmin despite believing the younger had cheated on him – but he can’t.
“Seungmin, I, I’m so sorry. Really. I should’ve trusted you and I didn’t and I’m sorry. I love you, so much, I really do. But I would understand if you didn’t want anything to do with me anymore.” Minho responds and he grabs Seungmin’s hand before he can stop himself. Seungmin looks back up at him then, his eyes shiny with tears and Minho’s heart shatters. He was such a prick.
“I will ask one thing of you, Lee Minho. I’ll give you one more chance if you do this one thing I ask of you.” Seungmin says and Minho nods, eyes wide in curiosity.
“What is it?”
“Kiss me. Kiss me like you mean it. Show me you love me.” Seungmin is barely finished with his words before Minho kisses him, tender and soft and gentle, and Minho tries his best to pour every ounce of love he feels for the younger into the kiss. Seungmin must feel what Minho feels because he pushes Minho back, climbing onto his lap to continue kissing him.
Minho flips them over, pulling back to stare at Seungmin panting underneath him. The younger is gorgeous and Minho tells him as much, watching as the younger flushes red before whining.
“Minho, please.” Seungmin whispers, breath gone, and voice strained and Minho pounces, kissing Seungmin with such passion that Seungmin whimpers and Minho drinks up the sound, eager to pull more sounds out of the younger. He pulls away, breathless and settles his weight on Seungmin’s waist before leaning down to kiss the younger again. His hands reach up to tug at Seungmin’s hair and the younger moans at the sensation. Minho can feel Seungmin’s hands on his waist before the younger dips his fingertips just below the waistband of Minho’s sweatpants.
The sound of the door slamming open has the pair pulling away from each other, turning to face the interrupters. Its Chan, Changbin and Jisung standing behind him, giggling to each other, and the eldest has a lightly annoyed look on his face.
“I’m glad you two sorted out your issues, but you’re not fucking on my bed. Get out.” Chan says and Seungmin giggles before removing his hands from Minho’s waistband. Minho reluctantly pulls his hands from Seungmin’s hair and climbs off of him before standing up and taking Seungmin’s hand in his.
“Jealousy will get you nowhere, Channie. Maybe one day you’ll get a boyfriend.” Minho says and Seungmin laughs, the sound drawing Minho to look at him. A new voice interrupts Minho’s lovesick downward spiral though and he turns to the doorway to see Jeongin has joined the trio, his arm around Chan’s waist.
“He’s already got one, but sure, Min.” Jeongin winks and Minho just huffs, rolling his eyes, before dragging Seungmin out of Chan’s room and into the living room where Hyunjin and Felix are standing in the doorway, obviously listening in on the commotion.
“I’m guessing you two made up then?” Felix says as he stares at Minho and Seungmin’s intertwined hands. Minho ignores him, dragging Seungmin to the couch before laying down, allowing his boyfriend to lay on top of him.
“They fucked.” Changbin responds with and Minho shoots him a glare.
“Nearly. I stopped them before they could.” Chan adds and Felix laughs.
“Your bed nearly got action before you did, Channie.” Hyunjin says, laughing with Felix, but Chan’s reply immediately cuts them off.
“Mhm, sure. That’s what you think. If you wake up in the middle of the night, don’t be surprised by mine and Jeongin’s absence.” Chan mutters before slumping on one of the couches, Jeongin giggling before cuddling into his side. The room is relatively quiet until Changbin speaks up, a disgusted look prevalent on his face.
“If I find out in the future that you two fucked tonight, I’m gonna personally kill you myself Chan.”
