Work Text:
Cuphead sat up in his bed, sight foggy. Though it's not like he could see much in the darkness of his room currently. He had turned to his clock and saw the time 3:31 AM blinking back at him. He sighed and placed his feet onto the floor.
It's been the same dream for a month now, The Legndary Chalice just...staring at him. It was so unsettling. He knew he wouldn't be able to get back sleep after that. Cuphead thought about getting a smoke, or perhaps a drink and go up on the roof again, but he really didn't feel like doing that. He just wanted to sneak into Mugman's room and hoard his blanket like when they were younger.
Then again...what's stopping him? I mean, besides for the fact they might not even fit their together, or he'll wake Mugs up, or the small pit of anxiety in his stomach telling his Mugman would be mad. He pushed all that down and stood up, walking out the room and rubbing his eyes so he could see a bit more clear as to where he was going.
It was dark, but he knew this apartment like the back of his hand! Or head. Considering he just his his forehead on a wall. He hoped he wasn't waking Mugs up with all this noise. Cuphead eventually made it to Mugman's room, turning the doorknob fully before pushing open the door and tiptoeing inside.
He silently shut the door behind himself and stood still for a second, looking for any sort of movement to show that Mugs was awake. Thankfully, nothing happened and Mugman continued his supposedly peaceful sleep. Cuphead walked next to the bed and carefully picked up the blanket and stuck himself right next to Mugman, who shuffled a bit, probably getting more comfortable in his sleep, or whatever.
He knew they had work in about, four or five hours. But cuphead's sleep schedule was already fucked anyway, so it's not like it'd effect him much. He'll just take a nap when he has his break. Cuphead got a bit anxious as he heard Mugman mumbling under his breath and shuffling a but more.
Cuphead's rising anxiety died down as he felt his eyes get heavy, the heat radiating off of Mugs (seriously, how is he always so warm?) was already helping him get back to sleep. He felt an arm drape over him and he jumped slightly, but relaxed as soon as he realized it was Mugman.
The cup only smiled as he shuffled closer to his brother, wrapping his arms around him as he made himself comfortable. The blanket was draped over the both of them as the cuddled, making Cuphead begin to slowly fade out of conciousness and into a deep state of slumber.
Mugman was awake, but Cuphead didn't need to know that.
