Work Text:
Nakahara Chuuya is used to doing everything all by himself. Maybe that's why, whenever someone offers to help him out with even the most mundane things, it makes him feel things.
Especially when it comes from a certain annoying brunet whose life mission, he swore, was to annoy him to death.
More often than not, it's Chuuya who does the 'servicing' but once in a while, and always in the perfect moments, Dazai would return the favor.
Or maybe it's just Dazai being his manipulative, shitty self, who's stupidly good at reading him but still, it makes Chuuya feels things– Good things.
I.
"That'd be ¥10,890 in total."
"Right." Chuuya nodded, patting his pants' pockets to feel his wallet but– "Huh? No way. I don't have my wallet with me?" The redhead then turned to look for his partner. "Oi, shitty Dazai! Did you–"
"Here."
Chuuya paused as he looked at Dazai who passed the cashier a card. Not Chuuya's but his own.
Chuuya continued to watch as the brunet finished the payment and held onto some of the groceries back. "Let's go."
"Oh. Yeah." He nodded and held onto the rest, following after his lover.
"I can't believe Chuuya didn't have his wallet with him! Was that a plan to get me to pay for your stuff?" Dazai said with a teasing smile.
"It was not! I thought you swiped my wallet, dammit." Chuuya muttered. "Besides, it's your stuff too."
"I thought Chuuya's learnt to be cunning now."
"Don't lump me together with you." The mafioso clicked his tongue. Then, with a small voice, he added : "Thanks. I'll pay you back later."
The brunet waved him off with a small smirk. "There's no need."
And if Chuuya's heart skipped a bit at that then Dazai didn't need to know.
"W-Well, that's just fair! You used my money all the time, after all."
II.
Chuuya let out a huge sigh after signing a paper on his desk were piles of paperwork that seemed to be never ending. He then glanced at the clock and groaned inwardly; It's almost time for dinner and he has yet to prepare anything.
Let's see… What does he have in the fridge? Maybe he can make curry? Seems like it'll take too long. Stew? Hotpot? He can just throw the ingredients in the soup and it'll be done but most of the ingredients that's not vegetables are frozen.
Ah, shit– He still has got so many things to do, he can't even think of a decent dinner. Fuck!
A touch on his shoulder pulled him to reality before he could spiral down. He saw Dazai with a knowing look on his face as he squeezed his shoulder.
"Hey."
"Hi." Chuuya breathed out, relaxing momentarily before the thoughts of deadlines and dinner came back.
"Chuuya, baby, breathe . Follow me, okay?"
And as the ginger calmed down by doing so, Dazai patted his head.
"Working this tiny little brain hard, huh? They're gonna shrink into nothingness."
"Fuck off." Chuuya swatted him away in annoyance, making the detective laugh.
"I'm sure you can spare some minutes. I've ordered pizza."
Chuuya looked at his boyfriend as if he's some kind of a God.
"What? Falling all over again for me?"
The ginger grinned, shrugging his shoulders. "Might be."
"Should I take it here?"
"Nah, I'm coming in a second."
"Alright." Dazai nodded, bending down to leave a short kiss on his forehead. "Don't work too hard. Mori-san doesn't deserve it."
"Oh, shut up."
III.
Post-Corruption is shit.
His body always hurt all over and he could barely move for a day or two. But at those times, what he hates the most is being alone.
Thankfully, the activation of Corruption is only allowed when a certain nullifying ability user is around. Which means, he's never been alone after unleashing that stupid ability.
The curtain to the room was shut and Chuuya laid on his bed with the only light coming from the night lamp on his nightstand because even simply opening his eyes in a well lit room was tiring and it could lead to annoying headaches.
Chuuya tried to move his fingers and he couldn't help but to let out quiet grunts of dissatisfaction due to his condition. However, he soon found out that the inability to move his fingers was because of the weight of someone's hand on top of his.
The mafioso realized he was not alone.
"Hey, you're up." Dazai's voice called softly and Chuuya moved his gaze downwards where he found the brunet was staring at him. "Water?"
Chuuya nodded his head at that and Dazai stood up to retrieve some for him.
"Can you move? Want me to get you up?" The detective asked once he came back with a glass of water and a straw.
Ugh. He loves this man.
Dazai gently pulled Chuuya up and let his back rest on the pillows he stacked before letting Chuuya drink the water.
"Hungry?"
"Not really. Have you eaten?"
"Mhm, was waiting for you to wake up to eat together."
"You should eat, idiot. You know I can't really eat in these times." Chuuya rolled his eyes. "How long have you been staring at me, anyway?"
"Guess." The brunet grinned.
"Since I passed out?"
"Correct."
" Creep ."
Dazai smirked. "I know Chuuya likes being stared at." He then went back to sit on the little chair he'd put beside their bed. "Anything else the Chibi needs?"
A gentle smile appeared on Chuuya's lips. "Come here." He said, moving his hand to pat the empty side of the bed despite the pain in his muscles.
"You sure? I won't bug again if you ask me for more water or food once I lay down on the bed." He said playfully.
Chuuya raised a brow, grinning. "Did I stutter?"
Releasing a quiet laugh, Dazai complied and climbed on the bed. "You got it, partner."
"Thanks."
"What wouldn't I do for you?" His lover said softly and Chuuya hid his blush by snuggling against the man, ignoring the aches all over his body. "You're making me nauseous."
IV.
Dazai knows how to treat him whenever the day's not been so kind to him. When he returned from a tiring mission, only to come back to more work and all he wanted to do when he's finally home was to sleep and wake up in maybe another hundred years. Don't get him wrong, he likes his job– it's just.. sometimes it could be too much.
That day, Chuuya had come home earlier than the brunet detective. Not feeling an ounce of hunger, Chuuya decided to skip dinner since it's a pain to have to prepare them– even boiling the water was too much of a chore for him.
He jumped straight into shower, which he'd rather not take if he could, but he felt nasty from the sweat and the grimes that didn't really leave him with another choice.
When Chuuya emerged from the bathroom and sat on his bed, Chuuya felt like he's in heaven. How has he missed his bed after being away from it for days .
"You'll get sick."
Chuuya looked at the male standing on the doorway, crossing his arms as he watched Chuuya laying down with his hair still wet.
"I won't." The mafioso replied, letting his eyes close. "I'm too sleepy to dry them."
And Dazai didn't answer. Instead, he heard rustling sounds and then Dazai was pulling a chair close to the bed (because no dirty work clothes on the bed) with a hairdryer in his hand.
"You're the best." Chuuya sleepily said as he felt the wind blowing his hair.
"Usually you call me the worst. "
"Yeah. You're only the best at times like this."
"Chuuya has prince syndrome? He likes it when people do things for him."
"I did not have a stupid syndrome." Chuuya grunted, eyes peacefully shut as he let his body relax completely.
Dazai smiled to himself when Chuuya leaned his full weight against him. "Chibi has worked hard." He muttered quietly and proceeded to dry Chuuya's hair before tucking him in. "Rest well, Chuuya."
Chuuya's eyes widened as he saw the brunet sitting in the living room with a cup of warm beverage.
"What are you doing?" He asked while pulling in his gloves.
"Drinking coffee." The brunet replied calmly as he flipped a page of his book. "I made some for Chuuya too. What do you say?"
The mafioso rolled his eyes and helped himself with said drink. "Thanks."
"You're welcome!" The brunet grinned cheerily as he got up.
That's when Chuuya noticed he's changed out of his pajamas. "You.." The redhead narrowed his eyes as he studied the male. "You didn't sleep, did you?"
"I did." Dazai retaliated. "I just woke up early and wanted to do something."
Chuuya placed his mug on the sink and walked to retrieve his wallet and car keys– but the keys were not in their designated place. "What? Another stupid suicide attempt?"
"No. Or well, maybe?" Dazai smirked as he twirled around the keys Chuuya was looking for on his index finger.
"Give it back." The redhead demanded, outstretching his hand.
"Nope~ I'll drive Chuuya to work today."
"Hell no." Came the flat refusal.
Dazai pouted before sticking his tongue out. "Sorry to say but Chuuya's got no say in this. Come on, you're going to be late!"
"I'd rather walk! Or use my bike!" Chuuya said, backing away from Dazai who's reaching for the door.
"You're so mean! I'll drive safely."
"Osamu, you literally just said maybe when I asked if you're going to attempt another stupid suicide."
"I don't see your point."
"My point is, don't ask me to join on your stupid attempts, idiot!"
"Ehhh~" The brunet said dejectedly.
"Don't 'Eh' me! Gimme the damn keys!"
A smile quickly returned on his face as he held Chuuya's hand and pulled him along. "Nope~ I still wanna drive Chuuya to work."
"I don't want to die stupid deaths!" Chuuya protested but still walked with him to the parking lot.
Dazai smiled wide as he opened the door to the passenger seat for Chuuya.
"God, I can't believe my death will be so anticlimactic." He sighed dramatically and slipped in.
"Stop being a drama queen." Dazai said while he closed the door.
"You're rubbing off on me too much."
When the brunet got into the driver's seat, he looked at the mafioso who's all buckled and gritting his teeth.
"Ready?"
"Never."
"I always drive safely." Dazai said as he started the engine.
"Your seatbelt."
The male pouted and pulled it over himself before shifting the gear.
"You need to recheck your definition of safety." Chuuya said.
Dazai shrugged, as he began to step on the accelerator. He then smoothly drove out of their parking lot and Chuuya almost sighed in relief.
But he knows his boyfriend and he's aware of his shitty self.
"DAZAI, SLOW THE FUCK DOWN!" Chuuya's scream marked the start of the hell which only began once they actually hit the road where Dazai stepped on the accelerator like he's avenging his dead best friend.
The motherfucker drove like he's got 9 lives and judging by how he always managed to survive his stupid suicide attempts made Chuuya believe he's actually fucking immortal .
It felt like forever when he finally hit the brake and Chuuya was gasping from the adrenaline.
"Did that wake you up?" The ex-mafioso had the nerve to ask.
Chuuya glared at him. "That almost put me to eternal sleep, asshole!" He said before hurriedly exiting the now cursed car.
Inside, Dazai laughed as he rolled down the window. "Call me when you're done. Ill pick you up."
The ginger paused his steps before then sighing fondly. Stupid dazai and his stupidly sweet self.
"My car better still be in one piece." He said and waved his bye.
"CHUUYA!"
The alarmed shout of his name put the executive immediately on guard. He spun around to look at Dazai while trying to defend himself. But the fucker–
"How can you leave without paying!?" He added and the red glow dissipated, leaving only Chuuya looking absolutely dumbfounded.
"You're gonna be late!" Dazai shouted again, by now, he'd attracted a lot of attentions.
Chuuya clicked his tongue and angrily stomped towards his shitty partner. "I hate you so much." He said through gritted teeth and bend his body so he could press a kiss to the bastard's awaiting lips.
"I hope Chuuya's stressed today too." Dazai said sweetly and Chuuya smiled at that.
"I hope you found a beautiful girl to commit double suicide with."
Dazai's smile widened. "Chuuya's really a good guy."
Chuuya rolled his eyes and finally stepped back. "See you later."
"Bye bye."
But before Dazai could roll the window up, he heard Chuuya shout : "Oh, and I will be driving later!"
That day, according to Chuuya's colleagues and subordinates, Chuuya was in a good mood for the whole day.
Yeah, shitty as he is, stupid Dazai really knows how to fulfill his love language.
