Mugsy still visited the prison from time to time.
Miss Cyclops knew when she was told she had a visitor that it would be that mug.
When she first visited after coming out, Cyclops voiced her support.
After all, she knew how hard it was to come to terms with who you really are.
It had taken her 30 years or so to become the woman she was on the inside.
She denied and hid that part of herself for so long until she stopped hiding it and just embraced it.
And she was happy that Mugsy had done the same with her identity and travelled out to tell her.
Mugsy kept making visits, and soon all the prisoners who had grown fond of her wanted to see her too.
And she made time for all of them, every single one.
Miss Cyclops had watched with a smile as Mugsy told everyone her true identity and they accepted her warmly.
It was no secret that she was liked by pretty much all the prisoners and they all looked forward to her visits.
Then one week, she didn’t visit.
Miss Cyclops was ready to break out and take the others with her.
If anything happened to Mugsy, they’d get whoever was responsible and make them pay.
But before anyone did anything drastic, there was news brought by Mugsy’s older siblings.
Since she spoke of them often, the prisoners could easily identify the two new visitors as Cuphead and Chalice.
A few recognised the former as the troublemaker with multiple failed escape attempts before Cyclops broke him and Mugsy out.
But no matter how they might feel about the cup, they all listened to what the two had come to say.
“Mugsy was kidnapped earlier today,” Cuphead started.
Which was definitely not a good idea to start with, because it caused the others to start yelling in outrage.
Some were demanding to be let out and Cyclops was about to get that done herself.
“We found her! She’s safe!” Chalice cut in quickly.
The rioters calmed, but of course there was still a lot of unease.
Their favourite mug had been taken and even if she was safe now, they would all be worrying about her until they saw her in person again.
“She asked us to come and apologise on her behalf for missing her visit, and to say she promises to come back next week,” Cuphead explained.
Miss Cyclops wiped a tear out of her eye at that.
Poor Mugsy, having just gone through a traumatic experience, was still worrying about them and making sure they knew she was coming back and was okay.
“That’s what she asked us to pass along, but we have a small message of our own. The man who took our sister will soon be brought here,” Chalice said.
Considering the amount of prisoners who would do anything for Mugsy, including breaking out and taking down someone who had hurt her, anyone who messed with her and ended up with them would be facing a definite death sentence the second they step in the door.
“His name is Ludwig, and I know Mugsy doesn’t like violence and she wouldn’t encourage this. But we don’t want her to be scared to come back here because she loves coming here, it makes her happy, and I’m not letting him take this away from her,” Cuphead said.
They were all in agreement with this, and promised they would take care of him before Mugsy’s next visit.
When Ludwig arrived, they made good on their promise.
He knew he was done for the second he saw them all staring at him as he came in.
It was no surprise when he was cornered by the meanest and strongest prisoners, including Cyclops, later that evening.
“We don’t take kindly to folks who mess with Mugsy.”
He was defenceless and useless in a fight, it was so easy to take care of him.
And of course, Miss Cyclops delivered the final blow.
Less than 24 hours after entering and Ludwig was leaving but in a less alive state.
Problem solved with a day to spare before Mugsy’s visit.
And she returned to a huge cheer, a brilliant welcome back.
She was the same happy positive mug they all knew and loved.
It didn’t look like she knew what they had done, not at first.
Until she was saying goodbye to Miss Cyclops and whispered “Thank you.”
It would be their little secret.
One thing that’s not secret?
If you mess with the prisoners’ favourite mug, they’ll mess you up.
And you really don’t want to get on the bad side of a certain Miss Cyclops.
