The week after finals
09:00 a.m.
Classroom 1-A
Uraraka sits anxiously in her seat, feet kicking beneath her. Their semester’s final exam grades were out, and she could hardly wait to find out if she passed or not. Her nerves didn’t go unnoticed, her best friend Iida looking at her anxious fidgets and smiling softly, reaching his hand out and tapping her softly, getting her attention.
“Calm down. You did great, I’m sure of it,” he assured her softly, a smile on his face as he watched her anxiety leave her deflating body. He wasn’t normally soft spoken, but he did her best for her. Assuring her harshly wouldn’t help.
“You’re right. Oh, I just hope I did okay!” She exclaimed, cheeks puffing in annoyance. “My parents would kill me if I failed.”
“I’m sure they wouldn’t,” he teased her over exaggeration. “And you have nothing to worry about, because I’m sure you passed. We studied too much for you to have failed.”
Uraraka nodded, a smile growing on her once worried face. That was true, they’d studied for days together, the rest of their group joining them most of the time, but she’d begged for him to help her one-on-one, because she wanted to be great at every subject. She was pushing herself to do the absolute best she could, no exceptions, and she didn’t know this, but Iida found her attitude and drive admirable.
“Class,” Aizawa caught everyone’s attention, the entire class going absolutely silent. They were never this quiet, but the tension in the air was so thick it could be cut with a knife. “Everyone, I have your test grades. I’ll be passing them back, then announcing what the lowest and highest scores were.”
The fact that he was only announcing the scores and not the names was a relief to Uraraka, because she would feel bad for whoever scored the lowest, but her relief was quickly replaced by anxiety again as he handed back the tests. One by one, she saw her classmates' faces as they examined their tests. So far, not one person’s face had fallen. In fact, she noticed, all their faces lit up like Christmas trees. That gave her hope, taking her exam back from Aizawa and flipping it over to see her grade.
95%. All her hard work paid off, and she passed with flying colors.
She immediately brightened, turning to Iida who was also smiling at his grade. In a moment in her excitement her quirk activated on herself, and she began levitating, Iida noticing and grabbing her hand before she could float any higher. As soon as she released her quirk, face on fire with embarrassment, she shook it off and turned to him fully, almost bouncing out of her seat.
“Well?” Iida asked, arm on the back of his chair as he leaned towards her slightly. “Did you pass?”
“With flying colors. I got a 95! 95, Iida!!” She exclaimed, unable to hold back her bright grin.
He smiled fondly at her. “I’m so proud of you. You’ve improved so much academically.”
“Can I ask what you got?” She asked, leaning towards him in anticipation.
Chuckling, he flipped his paper to show her. 100%. She wasn’t surprised, but she still rolled her eyes, still unable to hold back her smile.
“Of course. Why am I not surprised,” she teased, watching him blush softly.
“Are you ready to hear your results?” Aizawa asked, calling the class’s attention, who quickly quieted down again. “Alright. The highest score was 100%, three people scored that. So good job, you know who you are. And the lowest score… was 78%.
All of you passed.”
In a moment, the entire class exploded with cheers. They were all so proud of themselves and each other, some hugging while others celebrated on their own. Aizawa couldn’t help but let a hint of a smile slip, glad to see his kids were happy. But the news they were going to get would make their day even better. “Settle down, just a second. You guys win something because of your grades.” That caught everyone’s attention, the whole class putting their wide eyes on him. “The school is funding a week-long trip on the biggest cruise in Japan.”
If they’d gone crazy before, they were border lining insanity now. Their screams echoed throughout the classroom, every one of them more than ecstatic. A week-long trip on a cruise? Yuuei was incredible. Uraraka kept herself grounded, hands shaking up and down with excitement, cheeks squishing her eyes to crescents as she grinned. Iida was smiling too, chuckling in amusement. He couldn’t bring himself to chastise their noise levels now. They had every reason to be this rowdy. They were going on a cruise, crying out loud!
Aizawa, who was too tired to deal with it, laid in the corner in his sleeping bag. They could be as crazy as they wanted. He didn’t have to deal with it if he was fast asleep.
“Can you guys believe it? A cruise!” Uraraka squealed, in a circle with her friends, consisting of Iida, Midoriya, Asui, Todoroki and Yaoyorozu.
“That is awfully generous of the school,” Momo said, smiling, hands clasped together.
“We must all remember to be on our best behavior. We are representing Yuuei,” Iida pointed out, making Uraraka giggle.
“Just relax Iida, it’s a trip! A vacation to reward us for our hard work!” Uraraka exclaimed, touching his bicep, making sure her pinky is raised so she doesn’t float him by accident. “Just let loose, okay?”
“I guess I can… relax a little,” Iida said, smiling down at her, meeting her eyes.
She nodded and let her hand down. “I can’t wait to sunbathe, swim, and eat so much good food! Ooh, I’m getting excited just thinking about it!”
“Don’t get too excited and float yourself again, ribbit,” Tsuyu told her, making the brunette blush and rub the back of her neck, giggling.
“I won’t,” she assured her. “But I can hardly wait!”
“Well, we only have a day to prepare. Maybe we should start packing?” Midoriya suggested.
“Good idea!” Momo enthused. “I have so much packing to do!”
“Maybe you could help me out,” Uraraka turned to Momo, watching the dark-haired girl’s eyes light up.
“Oh, yes! I’d love to assist you!” She exclaimed, practically having stars in her eyes.
“Alright, let’s go!”
