Chapter Text
"Is that really necessary?" Kansuke asked as Yui tied his tie.
"Yes, it absolutely is. You know how important it is for him." Yui looked up at him with a smile. "And it won't hurt you to look proper for one evening."
"That's what you say" he mumbled, resulting in a gentle nudge against his shoulder.
"There, I'll loosen it up a bit, okay?" She pulled down the knot slightly. "Like this it won't strangle you." The way she emphasized the word turned it into a loving mockery.
"Fine... are you sure you won't come along?"
Yui shook her head. "No way. This is your day. Not mine, not ours. Your anniversary."
Again, Kansuke sighed, but smiled slightly. "To think that it's been twenty years already..."
"Time sure flies. I'm still surprised that he had the courage to ask you out back then."
Kansuke laughed, a low, rough sound. "Did he tell you that?"
"Not with these words, but yes?" Yui tilted her head as she was buttoning up his jacket.
"Don't believe a word he says. He was upset with me because he thought I was dating that girl from my class. I confronted him and I think I got a bit louder than I wanted. I don't think he wanted to confess that day, but he pretty much just blurted it out, before he froze like a deer in headlights."
"Hm." Yui fixed his collar and dusted away some lint from his shoulder. "That sounds more like him." She stepped back and eyed him from head to toes. "I think I can let you out like this."
Kansuke rolled his eyes. "You're acting like I need your help to look presentable! I-"
"Looking at your usual attire, one could come to that conclusion" a dark, silky voice said from the door. Taka'aki looked at Kansuke with scrutinising eyes, before a smile showed on his lips. "You look good, Kansuke-kun."
Yui stepped back a bit. "I'll seek myself out." With a smile she placed a kiss on Kansuke's cheek, before she walked outside the bathroom, stretching a bit to kiss Taka'aki as well.
"Thank you, Yui-kun" he said lowly, before kissing her cheek in return.
"You're very welcome. Have fun tonight, okay?" She winked and then left to the living room.
Taka'aki followed her with his eyes, then looked at Kansuke, who was now just a few steps away from him. He raised his eyebrows, then his hand, to touch his cheek. "You shaved?" he asked in surprise.
"Yeah, Yui made me. Don't complain, you're the one always saying my beard is scratchy!"
"I did not intend to complain" was Taka'aki's reply, while his fingers caressed the soft skin. "Thank you for all the effort." He lowered his hand to the tie, pulling slightly on the knot, loosening it a bit more. "Let's go. The taxi is waiting."
