i'm still falling for you

Summary:

[DISCONTINUED]

Tighnari and Albedo are like two sides of the same coin; complete opposites and yet somehow, the exact same.

Tighnari isn't bad at relationships or emotions but Albedo on the other hand, can be easily confused despite his intelligence. They both struggle, both have their own problems. Be it family issues, friendship drama, work problems, they're able to comfort and love each other through it.

How did they even fall in love in the first place though?

Notes:

i hope this is as cute and fluffy as i tried to make it be... kinda scared bc ao3 standards seem high and i was totally humbled when i read other ppl's stories but anyways, day 1 of trying to make tighnari x albedo (tighbedo) a popular-ish ship bc they make a really cute dynamic

also sorry if there are any mistakes or if it's a little weirdly written, i havent slept and my neck hurts so im too lazy to really check anything

Chapter Text

Albedo had just finished his afternoon classes and was heading home for the day. He takes chemistry since he always had an interest in alchemy growing up, seeing it happen in TV shows made him wonder if it would be possible to practice alchemy in real life.

Albedo loved his major, it was fun for him when he was able to learn new things and although he could keep up, the classes were still stressful from time to time. Today was one of those stressful days. All he wanted to do was go home, lay his head on Tighnari’s lap while he complains about his day, and Tighnari will either help him out or complain about his day next.

When Albedo heard the fumbling of keys as he walked to his apartment, he was a little surprised since Tighnari was supposed to be home hours ago. His right hand held his house keys and left held a little flower pot with a flower in it.

“Tighnari?” Albedo called out, Tighnari immediately turning his head, his ears perking up which made Albedo want to smile, but he didn’t.

“Your classes just ended?” Tighnari asked in a soft tone. Albedo liked it when Tighnari would speak to him with a soft voice. Honestly, he likes it whenever Tighnari just talks. He has a soothing voice that just makes all your worries melt away.

“Yes, but why are you only coming home now? And did you buy a new flower?” Albedo questioned curiously. Tighnari looked at him confused for a moment, but then as if he understood, he half-smiled.

“I was tutoring Collei and some of her classmates today. She begged me to help her since she was failing science. She gave me this flower as a way to compensate for the sudden tutoring, I'll be tutoring her for the whole week so I'll be home a little late. I sent you a text but I’m assuming you never saw it.”

Albedo takes out his phone quickly to check, Tighnari finally manages to open the door and says, “Come and tell me about your day. It must’ve been something if you didn’t even check your phone.”

There’s this face that Tighnari often makes when he knows something, like when he’s able to guess something and he just knows he’s absolutely right. He squints and does a half smile, his ears are faced backwards and his tail slightly twitches. Albedo loves it. He just loves it when Tighnari is able to know when he’s had a shitty day and will want to complain about it. He loves his eyes, his ears, his tail and how he would let him hug it if he’s had a stressful week, the way Tighnari would listen to him and talk shit about the people who ruins his day.

Albedo has never been the type to care about what people say. He would hear them say it, possibly get mad but he wouldn’t do anything about it. When he mentions it to Tighnari though, he’s willing to ruin his student teacher project for Albedo. Of course, Albedo would do the same for Tighnari. Maybe. The possibility is high. Anyway, that’s what Albedo loves about Tighnari.

Tighnari was holding the door for Albedo, waiting for him to walk into their apartment. Albedo realizes after zoning out for a little while, he quickly walks inside, Tighnari following in and closing the door behind him.

“Do you have a headache? Want anything for it?” Albedo sat down on the couch, putting all his books down on the coffee table. He replied with a simple, “No.”

“Alright, well, what happened today? Was it just your classes or is there a specific annoying person I need to deal with?” Tighnari gets straight to the point as he usually does. Albedo stared at Tighnari for a moment, and so did Tighnari. He was a little confused as to why Albedo wasn’t saying anything until Albedo muttered a little, “Come here please.”

Tighnari walks over to the couch and sits beside Albedo, looking at him curiously. Albedo rested his head on Tighnari’s chest, automatically focusing on his heartbeat.

“Was it that bad of a day?” Tighnari questioned, Albedo shook his head lightly. “No, I just like listening to your heartbeat. It’s calming. It helps my headache.”

“Liar, you said the smell of the flowers inside the house help your headache.” Tighnari accused in a joking manner and hugged him. The house was always full of plants and flowers because of Tighnari and his obsession with researching plants. It basically smelled like nature itself.

“Well, maybe both of them help. Doubling the comfort is much better anyways.” Albedo hugged Tighnari tightly, but not enough to suffocate him. Tighnari just sat there, gazing at him intently. Lovingly. Albedo stayed curled up for a while, completely silent without saying a single word about his day. Tighnari thought he had fallen asleep which, well, actually surprisingly happened.

“Albedo?” Tighnari called, tilting his head to look at Albedo, realizing he fell asleep.

He must’ve been really tired, Tighnari thought as he continued to hold Albedo, refusing to risk waking him up.

Notes:

Bonus!

“Right, so we’re on a new chapter in chemistry right?” Albedo explained with hand gestures.

“Yes, I know. Is it hard?” Tighnari asked.

“No, well, it’s alright, but the professor already gave us a project to work on, and a group project at that! He’s absolutely insane!” Albedo complained, completely upset.

“Really? Was it Professor Azar? He’s known to be a terrible professor. I don’t know how he still has a job at the Akademiya.” Tighnari mentions.

“I know! Want to know what’s worse? None, NONE of my groupmates are the responsible type! Which means I have to do the work all by myself!” Albedo continued to complain.

“I can help you out with the project. You should remove your groupmate’s names when you do the presentation.” Tighnari offered and convinced.

“Oh, trust me, I will. They won’t get the credit from our hard work and them doing absolutely nothing.”
