Nick stuck the dynamite onto the sandy pillars, trying to focus on only that, but he couldn't stop thinking about what had happened a couple of weeks earlier. That poor lady just had groceries. She didn't deserve to get shot. Nothing could possibly make him feel better. But when he felt Jason wrap his arm around him, all that guilt and distress left. Although it always found a way back to him, it was nice having a moment to feel happy, especially with Jason.
"Done with the dynamite?" He asked. His strong southern accent made Nick feel warmer inside. In Nick's mind, Jason's accent was not only sexy but also beautiful in a calming way. Jason buried his face into Nick's shoulder. Nick could feel his lips curve into a smile. It sent chills down his spine, but that wasn't what Nick cared about.
"I just got one more," he smiled, holding the dynamite. Jason let go of Nick. Nick finally placed the last one and turned to see Jason resting on a ruined pillar. Jason looked oddly miserable, so he decided to join him.
The second Nick sat down, he received a surprise kiss on the cheek. He couldn't help but blush. It was a warm, sweet kiss. It made Nick smile bigger than ever. Jason smirked and looked at the man beside him. Those vampires they saw were a nightmare, but oddly enough, it didn't feel so much like a nightmare to Nick and Jason. Being around each other and hanging out made it so much better. Jason rested his head on Nick's shoulder. They both knew they wouldn't have much time to do this, but they wanted to do it all just in case one or both of them didn't make it. But they couldn't.
The silence around them made it much more relaxing and somehow romantic. Nick gently held Jason's hand and softly smiled. His hands were soft, and although he had rough gloves on. It was still comforting and warm. Nick felt whole when Jason was with him. Holding his hand made him feel even better.
The two were interrupted and scared by Eric unexpectedly talking to them through the walkie-talkie. Jason jumped up and put his serious face on to answer him.
