Chapter Text
Yhwach was dead, but so was everyone else. No, that’s not right. Kurosaki Ichigo was still here, standing in the rubble that was once the Soul Society. He wasn’t the only one, next to him was Urahara Kisuke. Ichigo looked around at the destroyed buildings that were once the barracks of the gotei 13.
“What do we do now?” Ichigo spoke. Urahara didn’t respond in words, but instead started to dig through parts of the rubble. Ichigo raised his brow at that, but didn’t question the scientist about his weird antics. After some time, Urahara seemed to pull something out of the rubble. It didn’t take long for Ichigo to recognize it, the hogyouku.
“Whatever you’re about to do,” Ichigo said, “It’s not a good idea.” Nothing to do with that thing is ever a good idea. They’ve both seen it.
“Maybe if we can get some materials for the 12th, we could make something.” Urahara said. Ichigo knew better than to question him. If he had a plan, it would usually work.

It was difficult to find the 12th division and even more difficult to find usable materials for the machine Urahara wanted to build. During that search, he’d explained a bit more. He wanted to build a time-machine. According to him, the hogyouku should provide enough energy for something like that.

After a few weeks the materials were found and a half-decent machine was built. And while he trusted Urahara to have the right calculations, there was no way to test it. By now it was all up to fate. Urahara doublechecked some parts before finally putting in the hogyouku as energy source. The machine roared to life.
“This is it,” the scientist said, “Are you ready, Ichigo-San?”
“As ready as I’ll ever be,” He replied. Ichigo was tired. Over the last few weeks, he barely slept. It was too quiet, no background noise aside from the tinkering of Urahara. He was happy to leave it all behind, but also scared of what he would find on the other side. If he even made it out that way.
Urahara flip a switch on the machine. It started to for a portal made out of pure spiritual energy. He slowly approached it. Urahara followed right beside him. When he got close enough it started to suck him in. He knew it was too late to go back now and fully threw himself into the mass of energy in front of him.
