Chapter Text
Once upon a time, sort of a long long time ago, a small satyr named Dynea danced and played in a small, poor hamlet, when an even smaller, chaotic dwarf tried to steal the coins the girl earned.
A passerby decided to step in; a tall elf of white skin and hidden features. Unfortunately, an even taller half-giant defended his short dwarven friend, turning into a quarrel between the four.
After peacefully resolving the situation, the elf and the satyr introduced themselves and silently walked towards the local tavern.
Dynea, the Satyr, was an outgoing and cheerful girl of golden wavy long hair and green eyes. She loved to make music and was skilled in dancing, singing and playing a handful of instruments, gifted in the arts of performance.
Instead, K'aarin, the Elf, was extremely introverted and preferred not to talk unless needed. Her expression never changed much, but her heart stayed with good, with the goal of purging evil and helping the weak in the words of her Deity, Diancecht.
While spending a meal at the tavern, the two girls again met the small thief and his friend.
Another fight broke out, making daggers and magic fly across the tavern, which the barmaid quickly stopped, preventing them from killing each other.
Another dwarf witnessed the fight and overheard K'aarin and Dynea's conversation about the elf's goals, his ears tingling at the words.
The male, Grund'ir, was a taller-than-average dwarf with peach skin filled with pale patches of green blended into a dim yellow and built more on the heavy side. Most of his body was covered with armor, including one of his eyes and one arm. Two short pointy canines poke out of his lips, though he tried to hide it with his mustache, decorated with pearls and braids.
They also met a small frog named Froggory, Dynea's beloved pet companion and best friend.
The following morning, Dynea, K’aarin and Grund’ir met to travel together on their journey, with the strings of fate being twisted by Grund'ir, hiring the thief dwarf and his bulky friend as mercenaries to fight along them.
They learned the small dwarf's name as Dolgus, a shorter-than-average bald dwarf with baggy clothes. A long scar from his brow to the side of his nose decorates his face as well as a long, ginger beard that reaches his small chest, the only area of his face populated with lots of hair, due to his baldness. A belt filled with bottles, trinkets, sheathes and money pouches held up his pants.
His friend, Jihdor, was an extremely silent guy. Standing slightly taller than K'aarin, the half-giant wore a helmet with two horns to the side—one snapped in half—that covered his whole face, leaving only a few dark blonde hair peeking through the back. He never wore armor and his chest was bare at a light pink shade, making his white scars not appear as noticeable. His arms and wrists are covered in white bandages, even if he's visibly not hurt.
And so, the five of them plus Froggory adventured towards Barad More, an orc village under the wrath of a greedy King, wanting to take their land and govern the material plane as his.
After helping Karfu, the chief of the Orc village, with their crops problem, the party learned of their much needed help to fight the human's kingdom, and decided to take matters into their own hands, bargaining (or murdering, if it came to that) with the King. The mission was everything but successful. The party learned of his wrath, his hunger and his power, as well as very powerful allies. One moment imprisoned and the other fighting alongside the other prisoners for their escape, able to return home to their loved ones, if the King was kind enough to not have murdered, enslaved or imprisoned them as well.
On their way back, K'aarin formed a connection with a small pink-skinned goblin, saving him from certain death of the cruel kingdom, where even children bullied those under them.
As they relayed the information to Chief Karfu, the man decided they needed something more. Someone stronger, and with an army bigger than his: his neighboring city Chester Falls.
On their way to Chester Falls, the party discovers a weird-looking house in the middle of the woods. Upon adventuring, an old witch—trapped in her own home—challenged them, losing the battle. Other than Matches, a rat with a weird passion for fire, something like a demon, ghost or just a malicious but powerful entity possessed the building, making the party flee under its collapsing foundations.
After leaving the house with some “borrowed” possessions, the party resumed their travel towards Chester Falls.
The city, under the control of the power-hungry King, appeared bustling of adventurers and traveling merchants, there only to see the Black Sheep Theater; a traveling cast of rejects of society, filled from Genasi to Dragonborns.
Dynea befriends a particular person amongst them more than others.
After meeting with the person in command under the King that watched over him for the city's financial-and-everything-else problems, named Olivier, the party discovered that he was not, in fact, totally under the King, as the man worked under the previous and now deceased King of Chester Falls; and thats where his loyalty stayed.
With a request of aid from Barad More, Olivier fumbled and decided to help, if the party helped him in return.
His quest was to retrieve the previous King's beloved Sword from one of his towers, now filled with death and raiders. The party agreed, having picked up another request for help in the same location.
The journey was easy but the exploration was all but that. Ghouls, ghosts, traps and infinite corridors prolonged their stay, but their mission was successful.
They rescued a child, the requested sword and some good loot, as well as a deeper knowledge about themselves.
Once returned, the city had changed drastically: Higher reinforcement, a vast number of guards and even curfews.
After a talk with Olivier, the party returned the child to his grandmother—whom he was living with—and descovering that, in reality, she was murdered when the boy was taken hostage, believed to be the previous King's son.
The boy was taken into shelter by Quincy, a kind and knowledgeable once-adventurer-now-tavern-keeper.
The party returned to Barad More with troops from Chester Falls and a few other kingdoms around them, which was in a worse shape than before.
Constant attacks weakened their troops and the lack of time for farming increased hunger than decreased morale.
The now reinforced army planned out an attack, with K'aarin offering help to train the weaker women and children with bows and Grund'ir helping out with basic combat knowledge and advanced lessons on how to keep weapons and armors in great shape for an increase in damage and less in injury.
But their moment was cut short.
A huge battle broke and Barad More almost lost, leaving only a few orcs left alive, one of the victims also being the Chief.
The leader of the army, Sul, decided to attack the King directly, marching directly to their front gate.
Luckily for the group, an acquaintance with a more influence than she should have welcomed the army as friends, delivering them to the King purely for entertainment purposes.
The woman lead them into the deepest dungeons of the palace, discovering a large room filled with mages and the King.
It didnt take long for him to reveal his plans: Summoning a demon so strong it would wipe out all of his competition, leaving him as the King of the material plane.
It was a hard and long battle against the demon Yeenoghu, Martha decided to twist the strings of battle, turning Dynea's companion, Froggory, into its original form: A tall and pearl-skinned male with long and white hair wrapped in a thin low ponytail that reached the end of his back and crystal blue eyes.
The male, whom apparently only cared about Dynea, helped the party defeat the creature—that he himself seemed to know—and delay the plans of the King.
They escaped together and camped near the mountains surrounding the southern side of the kingdom, then the different kinds of armies returned to their respective cities.
Sul decided to go back to Barad More with her own soldiers, burning down their village as their whole community is Barad More, and not just a clump of wood and stone. The woman promised to be there for them whenever needed, as a sign of her gratitute, and the remaining villagers escaped into the woods with her, leaving the party alone.
Back to Chester Falls, things werent going so well either. News spread of the fallen village and people started packing to move further East.
Olivier promised to study more about the rumor circling about a pact between the King and a Diety, in exchange of a chore he doesn't have the army for; An issue with Hadun's ships gone missing.
The party agreed, and now we return to the present.
