Chapter Text
The room was filled with the sounds of two kids laughing and the crackling of the fireplace. Despite the particularly chilly night, the fireplace kept the kids cozy and warm. They were still, however, bundled together under a makeshift fort that was barely hanging and had stood intact for at least three hours.
The two kids were eating stolen candy before receiving more candy from an unobservant grandmother while they told various made-up stories with silly little ends that made them giggle and kick their feet. Despite the fact that they were first forbidden from the kitchen, they both relished the adventure of stealing sweets.
They ended up eating more candy than they normally would today. The mischievous kids would typically take a tiny plastic bag from one of the kitchen cupboards and fill it up, but they would never take too many because of the possibility of being caught and the quantity of the servings.
Today's events culminated in the young princess' grandma visiting them despite not being aware that they were already hosting guests, but that wasn't a problem. The young Prince who was also present was delighted to meet her grandmother.
A bonus was that an hour after the two had taken the stolen stuff, the older woman came to the kids with sweets.
“Wanna know a secret?”
The little girl nodded and the boy leaned down to whisper in her ear making her giggle when he brushed against a few strands of her hair.
“I have a crush.” He whispers and the girl feels her heart race. “A crush?” She whispered back surprised and he nods looking at her curiously as if he’s looking for a specific reaction. “On who?”
“It’s a secret.”
The freckled girl pouts and nudges him with her shoulder. “Ekkooo…” she whines, “I wanna know.” She said softly and Ekko snickers.
“Hmm, should I tell you?” He teases while she nods eagerly, immediately switching to her ruthless puppy eyes.
Shoot…Ekko thought.
There’s no way he can’t tell her now when she looks at him like that, he can never resist those precious blue orbs that sparkle at him, why did she have to be so cute? “Pow, that’s cheating.”
Heh.
Powder almost let out a smirk but she remembered to stay in character, so wanting to further persuade the boy, she tugged on the sleeve of his arm gently staring into his eyes more intensely that Ekko almost got lost in them.
The boy sighed in defeat, “Fine I’ll tell you,”
Powder broke out into a bright smile making Ekko instantly fold. “So…who is it?” She perks up next to him and the boy began to sweat nervously.
Was he seriously about to confess to her? This started off as a joke to see how she would react but now she wasn’t letting him off.
“Well,” he visibly gulps and Powder blinked and quietly whispered a small “Don’t be shy…”
Ekko nodded mustering up the courage little by little.
“I…I have a crush…on you, powder.”
Powders eyes widened, feeling her face grow warm. “Y-you do?” She asked.
“Yes.” Ekko replied leaning closer to the her. “I like you a lot.” Powders heart thrummed against her chest that she practically thought he could hear. He liked her, he liked her back.
“Do you…like me?” He asks her and Powder bit her lip nodding as she averted her eyes shyly.
“I like you too.” She said softly and Ekko exploded inside with happiness. He smiled and gently lifted the girls chin up with his index finger so he could meet her eyes.
“Does that make you my girlfriend now?”
Powder blushed at his words and let out a giggle. “Yes and you’re my boyfriend.” She stated. “I like the sound of that.” The girl felt Ekko’s soft lips against her forehead and she grew warm all over this time, it felt nice.
When he pulled away, Powder was already looking up at him. Her eyes gazed at his lips and she wanted to know what it would feel like if both of their lips touched.
“Ekko?”
“Yeah?”
Powder sat up on her knees pushing the covers away making Ekko also sit up on his knees so they were facing each other. “I want you to kiss me.” She says staring into his eyes and Ekko flushed.
He shifted a little closer and brought a hand up to her cheek, they both gazed at their lips when he leaned in and her breath hitched as their lips met for the first time. They were each others first kiss and Ekko wouldn’t have it any other way. He swore he felt fireworks happening in his stomach.
When they pulled away, both of their cheeks were pink. “Wow.” Ekko whispered making Powder chuckle.
“I liked it.” She said shyly. “Can we do it again?”
Ekko’s eyes widen and he nods eagerly leaning in to capture her soft lips again. She let out a tiny squeal and he swore it was the cutest thing ever.
Suddenly the doors to the chamber opened and the two kids jumped away from each other quickly.
“Powder! Ekko! it’s time for dinner!”
The two kids reluctantly got out of their fort seeing the pink haired teen leaning on the door frame. “Mom wanted to make dinner today instead of the chefs.”
Powder and Ekko’s eyes lit up, the both of them looking at each other with the biggest smiles on their face. The two loved the queens cooking, she usually never cooked dinner much due to the chefs and staff already providing them with the food but when the queen cooks, it’s like magic happens!
“What did mom make!?” Powder asked and her sister smirked.
“It’s a surprise that you’ll have to see for yourself, come!” The teen quickly took off the opposite direction and the two kids gazed at each other before running to catch up with her.
“Wait Vi!!!”
