"I don't get it," Hongjoong mutters.
The image on Seonghwa's laptop is dark enough for him to make out the frown on Hongjoong's face via his reflection in the finger-smudged screen.
Seonghwa sighs, not particularly in the mood to defend himself or his taste in entertainment yet again. It hadn't even been his idea to watch this movie. Hongjoong had specifically asked after he'd changed into his night clothes, face still splotchy and damp as he ran a towel over his hair.
"Well, lucky for you, you don't have to," he says, stabbing the spacebar of his laptop to stop the video and slumping back against the headboard.
"Wait, why'd you stop it?"
"We can watch something else, I don't care."
"I don't wanna watch something else," Hongjoong argues, reaching over to tap the spacebar again.
The video starts and then stops less than a second later when Seonghwa slams the button again, flicks his fingertips along the trackpad to quickly close the window.
"What're you– are you getting pissy with me for being curious?"
Seonghwa twists slightly to meet Hongjoong's eyes. "Curious?"
He looks annoyingly soft right now, hair still a little wet from his post-concert shower, pushed back with a fuzzy headband, his face scrubbed pink. His oversized sleep shirt hangs off one shoulder, the collar stretched by years of wear and too many sleepless nights.
"Yeah?" he says, eyes wide and innocent. "Am I not allowed?"
"Are you actually curious or just trying to find something to pick at?"
"Pick at?"
Seonghwa huffs, unsettled by the realization that he's possibly being a little over-sensitive and unnecessarily jumping to conclusions. Which isn't to say he doesn't have reason to be suspicious given past experience but maybe he should relax for now. Give Hongjoong the benefit of the doubt.
"I just don't understand why he's your favorite," Hongjoong continues in Seonghwa's silence. "He's the bad guy, isn't he?"
Seonghwa hesitates, still unsure of Hongjoong's intentions, whether they're genuine or aiming to get a rise out of him. Either seem equally likely in the moment. He looks back at his computer, the screen of which provides no answer since he'd clicked out of it so abruptly, tries recalling the last thing they'd watched.
"Wait, do you mean Anakin? I never said he's my favorite," Seonghwa lies.
"He's the one always wearing the black cloak, right?"
Again, Seonghwa hesitates, his response slow to come. "Yeah."
"Right, then him. The bad guy."
"He wasn't always a bad guy though," Seonghwa points out, still feeling strangely defensive. "He just– had a lot on his shoulders. A lot of pressure. And he made some bad choices."
The corner of Hongjoong's lips tick upward into a smirk. "So he is your favorite."
"I never said that."
"You like bad boys, don't you?"
Seonghwa rolls his eyes, ignores the burning at the tips of his ears. "Shut, up. I do not."
"You like me," Hongjoong continues, twisting around to face Seonghwa better, infuriating smirk still on his face as he reaches out to push Seonghwa's computer off his lap.
"You are not a bad boy," Seonghwa scoffs.
"I could be," Hongjoong insists, gracelessly shifting up onto his knees, the collar of his shirt hanging low as he swings a leg over Seonghwa's thighs and crawls his his way higher, taking the laptop's previous spot. "I have a lot on my shoulders too, you know. A lot of pressure. I've made bad decisions."
"Bad hair choices don't make someone a villain," Seonghwa says, pressed back against the headboard as Hongjoong makes himself comfortable.
Hongjoong pulls a face before his smirk slots back into place and he leans in close. "Admit it, I could be bad."
"You're definitely kind of an asshole sometimes if that's what you mean."
Ignoring him, Hongjoong takes Seonghwa's chin between his thumb and forefinger. This whole conversation is ridiculous, doubly so with Hongjoong straddling him, bare-faced in his pajamas. Triply so when Hongjoong has that dumb trying-very-hard-to-be-sexy look on his adorable face.
Seonghwa bites the inside of his cheek to keep from laughing, making only the tiniest sound as he lets Hongjoong tip his head back.
"I can be bad," says Hongjoong, dropping his voice low. "Just like your precious Anakin."
"Mmm," replies Seonghwa. A bare squeak as he manages a stilted nod.
"And every bad boy needs his Princess Leia to keep him in line, right?"
Seonghwa shatters, grabbing Hongjoong's wrist as he lets out a shrieking laugh. He does his best to reign it in at the sight of Hongjoong's face falling into a bewildered, hurt expression, shaking his head as he plants his hands on Hongjoong's shoulders to keep him in place when Hongjoong starts to lift up off of him.
"Sorry. Sorry, sorry, I'm just– Hongjoong, that's his daughter. Princess Leia is Anakin's daughter."
Hongjoong's frown only turns more puzzled. "But isn't he like. There was a girl, I remember her."
"Right, Leia's mom. Padme."
"Oh. Is she a princess too? Or a queen?"
"She's a senator," Seonghwa replies, still gripping Hongjoong with one hand as he lifts the other to cup his face, brushing a thumb along Hongjoong's moisturizer-soft jaw. "It's her death that pushes Anakin to the Dark Side."
Hongjoong doesn't respond for a moment, but he doesn't pull away either, eyes locked on Seonghwa as he absorbs this new bit of geek mythology.
"You want me to be your Padme instead?" Seonghwa finally asks when the silence is too much. "Want me to be the one who pushes you into true bad boy territory?"
Hongjoong shakes his head. "I just wanted to see you in a gold bikini," he admits quietly.
"Oh my god," Seonghwa groans through another laugh. "That's not– when did you even watch that movie?"
"I haven't! But it's everywhere, isn't it? She's the Star Wars lady and she's always either wearing that bikini or a white robe." He shrugs. "The bikini's hotter."
"There's more than just one lady in Star Wars."
"I know that now," Hongjoong retorts but he's laughing too, eyes glittering as he settles better in Seonghwa's lap, leaning in again until they're nearly nose to nose. "But you can't really blame me, they look like the same person."
"That probably means something," Seonghwa agrees. "Like psychologically."
Hongjoong's nose wrinkles. "Let's not dig into that."
"No?" Seonghwa slides his hand down the side of Hongjoong's throat, dips his thumb in the hollow between his exposed clavicles. "Is that not the kind of bad you're into?"
Hongjoong's adam's apple bobs as he swallows.
"You're the one into the bad boys," he says, lazily tugging at at Seonghwa's sleep shirt. "I'm just here to be your nerdy little fantasy."
"My nerdy little fantasy who doesn't know the difference between Princess Leia and her mom."
Hongjoong laughs, low and soft and sweet. Tender in a way so frequently hidden beneath the weight of long, stressful days and short, restless nights. "At least I'm trying," he says quietly, his lips brushing Seonghwa's.
And Seonghwa really can't argue that. So he lets out a soft, pleased sigh instead as Hongjoong presses in for a kiss, closes his eyes and thinks he may have to get his hands on a gold bikini.
end.
