TW! Amputation

Work Text:

Shouta sat beside the hospital-bed, working on grading some essays that he had given out earlier this week. It had been about 6 hours since Izuku was brought to the hospital, and after surgery for his broken leg, he was now recovering slowly but surly. His husband was getting them both some much needed coffee while they waited for Izuku to wake up, something that may take some time.

Recovery Girl came by just a few hours ago, because Shouta was presistant on getting the kid the best of the best medical help, and she had used her quirk on Izuku, tiering the child out completely. According to RG, Izuku had gotten his calcaneus completely crushed under the ruble, and nothing could be done about it. They had to amputate the leg from the lower shin and down. Shouta already had Power Loader on a prosthetic, but it wouldn't be ready for a few days.

Shouta looked up when the door opened, watching as Hizashi  sat down beside him and gave him his coffee.

"Thanks" Shouta mumbled, taking a sip of the cheep hospital coffee.

"How's he doing?" Hizashi asked quietly, looking at the green-haired child laying on the bed. Shouta sighted, putting is computer away, turning his focus on the kid.

"Chiyo said he would be out for a while, the surgery took much out of his already tired body. The leg is looking good, from what the nurse said earlier it look great, actually. Chiyo suggested that whomever is taking him in should consider a service animal to help with the trauma the events today has caused, as well as helping Izuku when his guardians can't." Shouta explained.

Hizashi hummed in response.

"You know I won't let go of the baby, right?" Hizashi asked, looking at Shouta, as he snorted in response.

"He's six Zashi, not a baby. But yeah, he isn't going anywhere anytime soon." Shouta said, smiling slightly at his husband.

"He is my baby, Shou!" Hizashi stated in a hushed whisper, snickering at the deadpanned look on Shouta's face.

"Whatever. Anyway, I called Nedzu about the service animal-thing, and he was going to look into it." Shouta said.

"Good, the green bean is going to need the extra support. Poor baby" Hizashi pouted, moving to hold Izuku's small hand.

The conversation died down after that, and Shouta went back to grading.

It took another 3 hours before Izuku started to move. It started with a twitch of his finger, and then a small whine. Shouta put his computer down immediately, changing his full focus on the small child. As Izuku blinked his green eyes open, Shouta started to slowly brush the bangs out of his face in a calming manner.

"You're ok, Izuku. It's Aizawa, I'm here with my husband and we won't go anywhere" Shouta assured the waking child, knowing how disorientating it is to wake up after passing out.

"Zawa?" Izuku mumbled, weakly rubbing his eyes with his small fist. Shouta could see Hizashi coo over the child in the corner of his eye, but ignored the cockatoo for now.

"That's right, Izuku. We are at the hospital right now." Shouta continued. Izuku gave a weak hum, looking around. When his eyes landed on Hizashi, those tired eyes lit up in recognition.

"Present Mic" Izuku whispered in awe, starteling Hizashi a bit. Shouta could only chuckle, knowing how no one usually recognized his husband out of his hero costume. His long hair was in a manbun, wearing sweats and a T-shirt.

"That right little listener! How did you know?" Hizashi asked, smiling brightly. Izuku gave a shy smile in response.

"You're my second favorite hero" Izuku whispered, a small blush of embarrassment dusting his chubby cheeks. It warmed Shouta's heart that Izuku liked his husband hero-persona, as well as his own. Not many people like both underground heroes as well as limelights. Usually it was one or the other, but here Izuku was.

"That's awesome little listener! Who's you favorite?" Hizashi asked, eyes gleaming with delight.

"'raserhead" Mumbled Izuku. Mischief shone in Hizashi's eyes at the response.

"Really? Eraserhead is my favoritt too!" Hizashi exclaimed. Izuku giggled at the action.

"But he's you husband" Izuku giggled.

"Exactly!" Hizashi whisper-shouted, as if it was some huge secret.

As they talked, Shouta and Hizashi also had to explain to Izuku his living-situation and about his leg. Izuku took it as well as any other six-year-old would. He panicked about his leg being gone, but calmed down fast as Shouta explained how he and Hizashi would stay by his side through every new change in his life. They talked for a while, informing Izuku about the news so far as well as how they would be going to bring him to work in the beginning. That made Izuku lit up.

"I will be going to UA?!" Izuku squealed. "Maybe I can see Kacchan!"

Both Hizashi and Shouta gave each other a confused look, before turning to the toddler.

"Who is that sweetheart?" Hizashi asked, already giving Izuku a cute nickname.

"His and go BOOM! And then he will shout and scare 'way bullies!" Izuku giggled. "He is going to be the number one hero some day! His quirk is amazing, and he always help me with my homework!"

A connection clicked, and if Shouta was right, he may have to call in a student soon. This could be a good chance to keep Izuku from slipping to far.

"Is this Kacchan called Bakugou, by any chanse?" Shouta asked, and he got a weird look from his husband in return.

"Kacchan!" Izuku smiled, as if it was the obvious answer.

"Ok" Shouta chuckled, ruffeling his green curls. "I happen to know Kacchan, so when we get you settled home, I can make sure you meet him at UA, ok?"

"YES!" Izuku squealed.

Not long after, Izuku tired himself out, slipping into a deep sleep.

"He is going to be loved by everyone at UA, you know that, right?" Hizashi asked, looking at their new soon with heart in his eyes.

"Yeah, he will be good"
