Work Text:
Daniel lay on his uncovered hard wooden floor, head resting on his second body's thigh, letting out a large puff of air. After the hectic events of getting trained by Gun and successfully getting back his second body, he finally got to rest.
Just as he started to shut his eyes, his pocket started buzzing furiously.
"Oh, hi mom, sorry I didn't call you for so long, I've just been busy with…school", Daniel laughed nervously.
"No, no. Sorry for not checking up on you sooner, I've just been really busy with work and um, dating", Mom paused, probably blushing and twiddling her thumbs. "How have you been?" They talked for a while, catching up.
"Oh right," Mom gasped, "I called to asked if you minded coming over to the restaurant? I packed some food for you." Daniel happily agreed, happy to see Mom after so long.
The sky was dark as Daniel travelled out, wearing a white shirt and grey shorts. Recalling the incidents of the past few weeks, he gratefully breathed in the fresh air, thankful he wasn't in that junkyard getting beat up anymore. He opened the door to the rundown restaurant Mom worked at with a little jingle of a bell, signifying his presence. Mom's back was turned, back bent as she wiped a table.
Just as he was about to walk to her, he noticed a group of pretty girls seated at the entrance staring at him, tittering amongst themselves when their eyes met. One of the girls stood up and approached him confidently.
"Hey, can I get your number?" She touched his arm, eyes sweeping across his frame appreciatively.
"I'm so sorry, I don't really give my number to strangers usually." He pulled his arm back slightly. Daniel was overcome with the realisation that this the first time he was flirted with in his original body. He could have never imagined this happening to him eight years ago when this all started. They wouldn't even have looked at him twice when he was fat.
One of the girls piped up, "Doesn't he look a lot like that Pacebook star, Daniel Park?"
Daniel's face paled. Technically they were separate beings? "Oh, haha, sorry, I'm uhh…not him?" He ducked his head a little, bowing slightly, fringe covering his eyes, blushing slightly. Daniel couldn't believe he got mistaken for his perfect body, a bashful grin tugging on his full lips. Meanwhile, the girls squeal and grab each other.
"D- daniel?" Mom's eyes widened as she looked at him.
"Yeah, mom?" He turned to face her fully, noting their now massive height difference. She was looking much healthier and happier than before, even gaining a bit of weight. The stress lines on her face had even receded a bit.
"Aiyo, you've grown so tall but so skinny, you look so different, how did this happen?" She gently squeezed his shoulders as she looked up at him, smiling slightly.
He rubbed his neck, thinking about the torture that both Sophia and Gun put him through. "I exercised a little bit", he chuckled lightly.
Suddenly, a harsh voice rang through the restaurant. "Ahjumma, come clean this table now! Stop dilly dallying, what do I pay you for!" The restaurant's boss was standing at a table customers just vacated, face scrunched up unattractively.
Mom's head snapped back to him, a nervous look on her face. "Com-" Daniel cut her off.
"I'd appreciate it if you didnt talk to my mom that way", he said with a polite smile, something flashing in his eyes, now muscular arm wrapped gently around Mom.
Something about the built boy instinctively told the boss not to mess with him. He gulped and anxiously looked down, wiping the table himself.
Mom's coworkers, after witnessing the event, wondered to themselves if their sons would stand up for them like that and display such blatant affection towards them. They sighed wistfully.
Daniel took the packed food from Mom and went home after constant reminders from her to eat more. He then set off into the cool night once more, a smile etched onto his face.
