Summary
Izuku’s nose twitches at the sharp scent of iron in the air and his ears perk up. He’s on high alert for the sounds of danger nearby. He knows that he should run off to his burrow. As a prey hybrid, he shouldn’t be about – not when a predator is about, and especially not so close to his heat. The heavy scent of blood and the realization of a recent attack should send him fleeing to safety. In his head though, he imagines someone even smaller than he is, scared and hurt and Izuku wants to help.
So, he presses on, following the scent as it gets stronger until he finds himself in a dark, shady patch of forest near the river. On the ground near the edge of the water is a man. Izuku’s heartbeat quickens as he approaches, and his mother’s words ring in his ears. Humans are dangerous. Izuku finds himself stepping closer without even thinking, his heart racing as he steps within reach of the man.
