Work Text:
Albedo huffed a sigh of relief as he finished his alchemical duties for the morning. He took a quick look around the room that was in horrible shape, not that that wasn’t the norm for Sir Albedo, chief alchemist of the Knights of Favonius, but it dawned on him that nearly every day, like it was now routine, he was concerned about cleanup time. There were vials full of mysterious liquids, papers scattered in chaotic organization beside said vials, shredded pages, chalk from wiping the chalkboard, jars with hilichurl toenails and fingernails, a bowl of hydro slime remains, and so much more that Albedo didn’t want to relive the collection of. How does it always get like this? He thought, recalling all of his experiments of the day and came up with no reasonable explanation for how his area always appeared in much worse shape than his coworker’s. No matter, I will clean up when I get back. “Hey, Sucrose, I am gonna head out for a bit. I’ll clean up once I return.” The blonde called out to his ever-focused assistant. In response, Sucrose simply nodded and gave a small smile of approval as Albedo closed the door behind him. If I don’t come on my own, that stupid knight of mine will snatch me off my feet. Albedo was a cold man, at least on the surface. All who knew of Albedo knew he did not bend, he would not negotiate on anything that regarded his alchemical research. He heeded no warnings from anyone, had incredibly low tolerance for conversation that led nowhere, and was well aware that his alchemical knowledge far exceeded anyone else in Mondstadt, hell, probably all of Teyvat. Albedo was an introvert and seemed to lack emotion. Albedo was cold, collected, calculated, and nearly impossible to get through to. Or at least those were the buzzing rumors about him in Mondstadt. He never minded people believing he was some hardass that hated having fun, especially if that kept people from interrupting his work. With all of the rumors surrounding his personality, Albedo expected to have nobody close to him at all save for his sister and, by obligation, his assistant, Sucrose. It was a shock to say the least when the Knight’s very own Cavalry Captain took an interest in Albedo. Although he found it annoying when people tried to drag him away from his work, Albedo found Kaeya’s presence to be calming and positive for his mental health as he was almost literally dragged away from his experiments daily. As Albedo made his way to their normal meeting spot, he recalled the day that he signed his heart over to his Knight.
“Let’s go get lunch together.” Kaeya stated after walking right into Albedo’s lab with only a single knock. He wasted no time waiting for a response. “Can’t. I have- Kaeya what are yo- NO DON’T KAEYA I CAN’T L-” “Hey Sucrose, watch over his experiments please?” Kaeya called out with the squirming alchemist thrown over his shoulder “SUCROSE HELP M-” and the door shut behind them. “KAEYA PUT ME-” Kaeya gently set him down and continued walking ahead, expecting Albedo to follow suit. “Come on, prince, we’re going to get lunch.” As confident as ever, this blue haired buffoon Albedo thought, catching up to Kaeya. “You know, no means no. And you don’t have to mock me by calling me prince, you know.” Kaeya stopped dead in his tracks and whirled around to look into Albedo’s eyes, “Mock you?” “Y-yeah? Why else would you-” “Because you are my prince.” Albedo felt his heart jump into his throat and almost fall out of his mouth at such a confession. Suddenly, the silence was extremely loud and it only made the blonde’s soft blush grow more vibrant as it continued. “Sorry, I wasn’t trying to mock you, I just think you are the most wonderful person I have ever had the pleasure of spending time with. You’re beautiful no matter your angle and every time we talk about nothing important at all I can’t help but feel that I want to spend every single day of my life beside you. I am not trying to make you uncomf-” Kaeya was silenced with lips from none other than his brilliant prince pressed aggressively against his own. Kaeya’s thoughts swirled like the winds of Mondstadt with happiness, desire, and more importantly, Albedo and what this might mean for them. It was the first time Albedo made any attempt at reciprocating his advances and with that in mind, he wasn’t going to let Albedo backtrack on this. Kaeya kissed Albedo back as lovingly and passionately as he could in a way he hoped the alchemist could understand how much he yearned for this moment. He wanted Albedo to know that, without a shadow of doubt and regardless of Mondstadt gossip, Kaeya’s heart belonged to him and him alone if he accepted it. Albedo broke the kiss to look at Kaeya, who was as red as the blonde had been just a moment before. “Sorry, I should have asked if I could do that.” The alchemist’s bright blue eyes now looked at the ground bashfully. ”You always have permission, my prince.” And with that, Kaeya locked his lips into Albedo’s once more, delighted when he matched his enthusiasm. This was the first of many lunches the two would spend together as not just coworkers, but as lovers.
“Albedo!” Kaeya called out from under their normal tree, waving him over. Albedo snapped out of the memory, jogged over to Kaeya, sat beside him, and sighed, letting his head land against the furs of Kaeya’s shoulder. “That kind of day, huh?” The blue eyed captain adjusted his position to hold Albedo tighter to him, like he was worried the wind would blow the alchemist away. “Lots of stuff I have left to do for the day, as always. Nothing I can’t handle, but of course there are other things I’d like to do like paint, or take Klee on a walk, or you.” Albedo gave Kaeya a knowing smirk, causing the knight’s face to go from its usual tan to tomato red in seconds. “So forward, Albedo.” Kaeya retorted, leaning into the alchemist’s lips. The captain could spend hours writing out the exact sensation of the blonde’s lips against his own and even then, he isn’t certain he could find the right combination of words to begin to describe the sensation in its entirety, let alone the intense emotions that came with the kisses.”I got this for you, my love.” Kaeya grabbed a few cecilias he had hidden beside his thigh and held them in front of Albedo. “You are always such a romantic, you don’t have to get them for me every time they are in stock, you know,” A small smile creeped across Albedo’s lips, “but thank you. I love them very much, especially since they are from you.” The alchemist grabbed the captain’s neck and attacked his face with kisses and praise for being so sweet before the two were reduced to rolling around laughing. “You know you’re not so tough yourself, Mister Albedo, Chief Alchemist of the Knights of Favonius,” Kaeya blurted, tickling Albedo who was doing all he could to survive the pain of laughter in his cheeks “And whatever do you mean by that, Sir Kaeya, Calvary Captain of the Knights of Favonius?” The blonde managed to flip on top of Kaeya and hold his wrists to the ground, “hmm, our first official date and practically every date since?” Albedo’s cheeks heated up, recalling exactly what his knight was going on about.
“I got these for you, they remind me of you.” Albedo extended his arms out in front of him, hiding the embarrassment on his face as he lifted the fresh calla lilies he picked up to Kaeya’s nose. There was an uncomfortable silence that rang into Albedo’s ears, filling him with fear of rejection before he finally felt the captain’s hand wrap around his own and pull the flowers below the alchemist’s eyesight to reveal Kaeya’s wide smile and teary blue eye. “I didn’t mean to upset you! Did I say something wrong?” Albedo quickly pulled Kaeya into a tight hug, hoping to make up for whatever it was he had done to upset him. “T-thank you for the flowers,” The knight’s voice was shaky, “Nobody has ever brought me flowers.” he squeezed harder into Albedo, allowing himself to sob at the knowledge that he found the person that celestia sent just for him.
“I suppose you are right about that, my knight.” The alchemist softly smiled, released his grip on Kaeya’s wrists, and sat back on the grass with a plop. Albedo, similar to Kaeya in his feelings and despite his reputation in Mondstadt as an unfeeling machine, was as soft as they come when it came to his boyfriend, Kaeya, and his little sister, Klee. The captain sat up back in front of his prince and intertwined their hands together. Albedo’s free hand caressed his knight’s cheek gently while the sweet scent of calla lilies filled his senses. “When will you be done today?” Kaeya asked, laying his head into his boyfriend’s shoulder softly. Albedo pulled Kaeya closer into a hug and stroked his shiny blue locks while he tried to calculate an answer for him. “I’m not certain, but six seems like a logical estimate.” the captain groaned into Albedo’s shoulder, pulled him tighter into the hug, and threaded his hands through his prince’s hair in disappointment. Albedo could tell Kaeya must have been having a rough day based on his need for physical affection, which he gladly reciprocated, and the prolonged sighs that were being released into his shoulder. “How are things today at work for you, my knight?” Albedo hummed, once again stroking Kaeya’s hair in an attempt to comfort him. “Not ideal, that’s for sure. Lisa is stressed because of books not being returned, Jean is more stressed because Lisa is stressed, and well, I’ve been given the assignment of collecting said books.” Kaeya slowly lifted his head to look into the bright teal colored eyes that radiated empathy and care “But you need not worry about me, my prince. You have given me enough energy for the next three days.” He proudly announced with that dumb smile that always melted Albedo’s stone cold facade he put on for the rest of Mondstadt. “Three days? Well it only needs to last a few more hours. I’ll clean up the lab and I will see you at the tree soon.” “What? You mean it? I thought you had more work to do?” “Yes, but I suppose it can wait. I have a needy knight to care for.” Kaeya scoffed at the teasing, knowing it was all a little show of Albedo pretending he wasn’t just as needy. He once more leaned in to kiss the shorter man, this time a bit rushed as he now had something sooner to look forward to. After jumping up, helping Albedo to his feet, and bidding him farewell, Kaeya raced off to continue his work. “You’d better be serious about getting off early!” Kaeya called without looking back, knowing that Albedo’s promise would not be broken.
Kaeya was seen as somewhat of a nuisance to wrong-doers, married people, and, of course, his grumpy brother, Diluc. His reputation in Mondstadt seemed quite opposite to Albedo’s, yet it was just as frequently discussed among the citizens. Where people described Albedo as “cold” and “unfeeling”, for Kaeya, they opted for words like “amorous” and “overzealous” and on occasion he was cast in a more positive light, seen as “charismatic” and “strong”, but often only by his closest coworkers. Kaeya never really cared what the citizens thought of him, at least not when he had no need to collect intel from them. Kaeya’s reputation also led men to believe their wives would be snatched up by the captain who was “working on his harem” according to Mondstadt, despite having not revealed his personal relationships with anyone in Mondstadt that was not involved in said relationships. Although the word around Mondstadt of the “slutty knight” spread like a wildfire, prior to finding his beautiful prince, Kaeya was quite picky and focused more on work rather than sexual or romantic desires. Kaeya was flirty, that much was true, but his intentions were never to find love and instead he manipulated Mondstadt's libido to convince his targets that he was no threat to them and in turn, any target he needed information from would succumb to his smooth voice and soft smile. The people of Mondstadt were well aware of his tactics, but that didn’t stop them from spilling any less, especially when he loosened a few buttons on his vest. It always amazed Kaeya how much he could control people with just a little show of skin. Of course, Jean did not find his tactics favorable and even considered it a bit distasteful and misrepresentational of how all knights conducted business, but it was his style and his track record proved it to work for him, so there was no need to correct it. Kaeya, on the other hand, cursed himself for using his flirtatious nature in his work now since it played a huge part in why Albedo seemed to shrug off advances he made prior to Kaeya’s “confession”. He thought maybe Albedo was dense when it came to romantic affairs, or perhaps he was just well guarded, but after the initial confession Albedo revealed that Mondstadt’s gossip had reached his ear and more or less led him to believe it was just Kaeya hard at work, that the alchemist became the object of his interest for intel at the time.
“Ah, well I have heard of your tendency to sleep around in order to gather information, which is actually impressive that you found a method that works every single time considering the variety in your targets. In fear of getting too close, of course I would resist the charming cavalry captain that took an interest in me seemingly out of nowhere.” Albedo admitted, sheepishly rubbing the back of his neck and with not an ounce of disgust in his tone. “I never slept with a single target for intel.” Kaeya turned away from Albedo, not wanting to see the flash of disbelief he was sure he’d find. He felt slim arms wrap around his waist from behind. “I know.” The alchemist sounded certain, pressing his forehead into the captain’s back. “How?” Kaeya turned around to face the shorter man. “If you say you haven’t, then I believe you, it’s as simple as t-” “No, it isn’t. I have never had anybody trust me without hesitation.” Albedo stared into his knight’s exposed blue eye, “It is. I trust you deeply, and regardless of whether the rumor was true or not,” He rubbed his thumb on the taller man’s tan cheek “it would not change our relationship at all.” The moonlight shone on Albedo’s face, seemingly brighter, as he continued gently stroking the knight’s cheek. Before he turned to jelly, Kaeya lifted himself off of the cold stone of the bridge at the entrance of Mondstadt’s gate that was only guarded by two knights ,back facing his prince. “I trust you too, Albedo. More than anything.” Kaeya slowly removed his eyepatch after ensuring there were no lingering citizens just outside the city. “You don’t have to show me if you don-” “I do want to.” Kaeya slowly opened his eyes and turned to face Albedo who was completely floored by the golden eye with light blue speckles resembling stars that stared back at him. “Your eye is-” “Hideous, I know, Diluc used to make fu-” “absolutely beautiful. It is the most wonderful thing I’ve ever seen.” The Alchemist shook his head in anger “I swear, I am gonna slip hydro slime in your brother’s grape juice.” Kaeya fell completely silent for a full thirty seconds before he began chuckling and before both of them were holding their sides as insane, probably sleep deprived, cackling ripped through their stomachs.
Recalling the first time Kaeya revealed his eye made him want to cover himself up. He never wanted anyone to look at him lustfully ever again unless it was Albedo, but even when his prince revealed to him his reasons for not pursuing, it never came out as accusatory or disgusted by Kaeya’s actions. Albedo simply stayed cautious of his advances, trying his best not to be too obvious in his feelings for him rather than condemning Kaeya for his way of working secrets out of people and even applauded him for finding such a method that seemed to work every time. Perhaps this was one of the many reasons that even while on duty, Kaeya couldn’t help but dream of spending all of his time with Albedo and Klee. His prince was loving, kind, understanding, and most importantly, he did not judge Kaeya for his reputation, especially after finding out the people of Mondstadt were a less than reliable source of information and that Kaeya did not actually sleep with any of the people he collected intel from. He loved his work, but the captain loved his alchemist and little spark knight more, so much so that he could see the pattern of lowered satisfaction from work forming in himself as well as his prince. The doubt in his abilities and fear of repeating past mistakes seemed to all melt away in the presence of Albedo, and despite having been in this relationship for a couple of years now, Kaeya never tired of his boyfriend as he did so easily with others.
Albedo arrived back at his lab and opened the door to see Sucrose tending to one of their experiments just as diligently as she had been when he left. “How’s it going? Any interesting reactions take place?” Albedo questioned “Well actually, yes! I took out a bit of the pyro slaw wah wah wah blah blah” Sucrose continued as Albedo zoned out thinking about how nice it would be to curl up on their bed and lay with Kaeya once Klee was tucked in bed. He loved laying with Kaeya, even if they did nothing more than just lay there with no other source of entertainment. The way Kaeya would rake through the alchemist’s hair, kiss his forehead, and gently hold his hands was relaxing and made Albedo feel like, well, a prince. The way the captain’s nails dragged along his scalp and twirled through his golden hair as their eyes met always made Albedo want to whip out a canvas and draw exactly how Kaeya looked at him so that he could always be reminded of celestia’s gift to him. Albedo felt there was no paint rich enough to accurately capture the beautiful tan of Kaeya’s skin, nor was there any paint vibrant enough to evoke the piercing beauty of the knight’s eyes. Those eyes, especially the one Kaeya covered to the public, were special in that Albedo could read his every thought just by looking into them. There was no miscommunication as long as he made sure to read those eyes. It became all too routine for the alchemist to take weekends off entirely only to spend them laying in his boyfriend’s lap and gazing into his eyes while he soaked up all of the physical affection he could to save him throughout the week. Albedo recalled questioning Kaeya about his eye for the first time since he was first shown.
With his head in the captain’s lap Albedo stared intensely into the golden eye,”Why do you wear an eyepatch in public, my love, When you’ve got the most beautiful eye underneath?” His inquisition was enough to elicit a small chuckle from the taller man, “Well if I showed them everything, what would I have left to offer you, Albedo? I can show them any part of my body, I could take off my pants for them even,” ''I’d prefer you didn’t” “I wouldn’t dream of it, but if I did, even then it would not be as revealing as my eye. My eye is something that my brother hates about me as it is proof of my khaenri’ahn descent. The people of Mondstadt aren’t too kind to people from Khaenri’ah either, you’ve seen that yourself. You’re the only one alive, aside from my brother, who has ever seen it. I trust you and love you beyond caring whether you can read my emotions like a book due to my eyes.”
Albedo could feel the heat rise to his cheeks at the recollection, unable to do anything but imagine spending all of his time with Kaeya and Klee. Albedo loved his work, but he loved them more. In the presence of Kaeya, he felt stronger, more open, and most of all he felt love that far exceeded any strong emotion he’d felt prior to his knight in shining armor. While their relationship was not new, Albedo never tired of Kaeya as he did with pretty much everyone else. “Albedo. Albedo?” Sucrose tried to catch the attention of her, now grinning and clearly dreaming, superior. “ALBEDO!” Albedo jumped back, startled by the sudden outburst but quickly composed himself before replying, “YEAH? YES? Sorry. I uh-” ''You didn’t hear a word of what I said, did you?” Sucrose’s ears dropped in disappointment and she sighed loudly in agitation with her coworker. Albedo sheepishly rubbed the back of his neck, “Sorry, could you write it down? I’ll take a look at it tomorrow.” Sucrose’s ears raised back to their normal position before she nodded, knowing exactly why he wouldn’t be looking over it today. “Thanks, sorry I’ve been out of it lately.” The alchemist sighed, once again scanning the room and taking in the disaster that he called his workspace. Albedo began organizing potions, elixirs, experiments, and important documents regarding the aforementioned items only occasionally opening his mouth to ask about an out of place document or elixir.
Meanwhile, the knight was busy hunting down the books Jean and Lisa were stressing over. Kaeya walked past the two guards, Swan and Lawrence, and exchanged a smile and a wave with the two men. Surely some of these book hogs are just drunkards who forgot to return them Kaeya reasoned, jogging past Donna who was still in her own lovestruck state over his objectively less charming brother. “Oh Kaeya! Hey there!” one of the lower ranked guards called out to him before they continued patrolling the city. Right as Kaeya reached the Angel’s Share Tavern, he fixed his hair in an attempt to look less overworked. The knight swung the door open hoping not to disturb his brother while he snooped around to see if perchance Nimrod was in there. “Well, if it isn’t the esteemed Cavalry Captain of the Knights of Favonius. What the hell are you doing here while on duty?” A fiery redhead that was patting a drunk bard’s head with a cold wet rag barked before the captain even closed the door. “Well, brother, if you must know I am actually locating some books for Lisa.” Kaeya’s tongue could cut as deep as Diluc’s and he would gladly argue with him some other time when he didn’t have plans. “Of course they’d have you do something as silly as locating some borrowed books when you aren’t usef-” “Yeah, yeah, useless Knight of Favonius that wastes his days drinking wine instead of going out with a stupid looking mask and fighting off the one bad guy the other knights were unaware of and therefore unable to capture. You can cool it, vengeance, I’m not here to argue with you. I am just looking for Nimrod and I will be out of your hair.” The captain retorted, losing any playfulness he may have had previously. Diluc huffed and continued tending to none other than Mondstadt’s great anemo archon, Venti. Kaeya sighed in relief when he saw that Nimrod was passed out with the book sitting on the table in front of him. “Sir Nimrod, I’ll be taking this back to the Knights of Favonius library.” The knight announced, not really expecting any response at all. “D-don tellllllll mmm’wife” Nimrod retorted before once again face planting on the surface of the table once more. Geez, if I were this guy’s wife I’d divorce him, Kaeya thought. “I’ll be taking my leave now, Diluc.” Diluc quickly shushed his brother and pointed at the man he had been taking care of that was now sound asleep, hugging the redhead’s arm. “You look a bit flust-” “OUT.” Diluc hissed at Kaeya, cheeks burning with embarrassment. Before he exited the tavern completely, the captain turned around with a stupid smirk on his face, held one hand in an ‘O’ shape and inserted the index finger of his other into the ‘O’. In retaliation, Diluc flipped him off with his free hand and mouthed “fuck you.” With that, Kaeya was off to gather the other books, Three more to go.
After just an hour and a half, by some miracle Kaeya was finished collecting all of the books for Lisa. “I’ve got ‘em all here!” Kaeya announced, slamming the books on the table and quickly stopping by the little mirror Lisa had by her desk before smiling wide and jogging out of the library. “I’m off to see-” “Albedo, I know. Go on then, I bet he won’t be done with his work” Lisa retorted playfully. “He will be!” Kaeya was as certain as the sun that Albedo would keep his word.
Albedo quickly threw vials and potions around in his cabinet, realizing he got distracted by an interesting report regarding one of his most recent experiments so long that he was certain Kaeya would be waiting for him by now. The alchemist combed through his hair in panic, knowing he also had to locate his sister before meeting the captain by the tree they always reunited at at the end of the day. “Mister Albedo, don’t you think throwing the potions around like that is dangerous?” His shy assistant spoke up from the back of the room where she stood writing down information on an experiment she had been working on for some time. “Yes I suppose, but I’ve got to hurry because I promised I’d get off early to go see-” “Kaeya, I know. Go ahead! I can handle cleaning! It won’t take very long at all.” Albedo’s eyes lit up as they always did when it was finally time to go home to his knight. When did I start feeling this way towards my alchemy? Albedo pondered. He’d always loved alchemy and experimenting but somehow he’d come to love something, no, someone even more. Kaeya always challenged him in everything, and somehow he found it fun and exciting rather than burdensome. No matter how much time will pass them by, Albedo was certain that the love they felt for each other could only be described as fate and even that seemed too dull for what Albedo found in Kaeya. Before he began swimming in his thoughts again, the alchemist turned once more to his assistant, “Hey Sucrose, Klee is right for thinking you’re the best. Thank you for all your hard work, even when I am slacking.” “Better catch the captain before he leaves to find you in dragonspine or something! It’s no problem, really!” Sucrose taunted. Albedo gave her a soft smile and quickly raced out of the lab when he was met with an explosive little girl leaping into a hug “Big brother!!!!” The girl exclaimed, wrapping her arms around Albedo’s neck, “Ah, Klee, let’s go meet Sir Kaeya, we wouldn’t want to keep the captain waiting, hmm?” Albedo remarked as he tightly hugged Klee before taking her hand and walking all the way to their meeting tree with more bounce in each step as they neared the front gates of Mondstadt. “Klee is glad you found big brother Kaeya. You smile more when he is with us and you have more fun with Klee!” Klee asserted, skipping beside Albedo and swinging their arms rhythmically back and forth. “I am glad to have him too, Klee.” Albedo’s smile was warm anytime he talked about Kaeya, but it radiated an indescribable softness knowing that the spark knight accepted the captain into their family without any resistance. He was happy to know that Kaeya had not only won his heart, but his little sister’s as well. In truth, Albedo always worried that Klee and Kaeya would not get along if he and Kaeya became romantic, but over time he realized that Klee only wanted to enjoy time with them, regardless of their relationship with each other. Klee’s acceptance of his boyfriend meant more to the alchemist than he was capable of expressing, but he was certain that his little sister could feel how grateful he was. “KAEYA! KAEYA!!!” Klee called out to the tall man who stood under the tree. With his hair blowing in the wind, the furs that laid on his shoulder swishing, and the slow blink that came before the man’s attention was caught, Albedo did all he could just to breathe. Kaeya’s gaze immediately turned to Klee’s as she leapt into his arms that were wide open for her each and every day when they came to the tree. “And how did things go today, little spark knight?” Kaeya lifted Klee up onto his shoulders where Klee wrapped her arms around his head to ensure she didn’t fall. “Klee got to go fish blasti- uh, uhm, Klee got to go fishing with Bennett and Razor!!! They are the best!” “Klee, did Razor and Bennett condone fish blasting?” Albedo scolded, causing Klee’s ears to slack shamefully “No, No!!!! Of course not!” “Well if I catch yo- '' Albedo's words were cut off by Kaeya’s boisterous laugh that boomed into Albedo’s ears and seemed to shake his entire being, making him forget why he was correcting the girl in the first place. Kaeya’s laugh was on the list of many reasons anybody in Mondstadt could fall for him, or at least Albedo thought, given how it made the alchemist’s heart race. “No need to be so hard on her, my prince, I assure you I heard no bombs go off today!” Klee’s ears perked up at the knight’s defense, “Yeah! Kaeya, you’re the best!” Klee cheered from his shoulders. “That being said, if I do get a report by Bennett and Razor regarding anything related to fish blasting, I will have no control over how your brother reacts.” Kaeya winked at Albedo and threaded his fingers through his prince’s, making sure to use his other hand to hold the spark knight’s legs to ensure she didn’t fall. Klee rested her head on Kaeya’s as they made the short journey back to their house. She watched the two older men chat about nothing of importance and felt content knowing that Kaeya would take care of her brother. Before Kaeya, Klee recalled Albedo forgetting to eat, having no time to play, always putting her first when it came to their needs as a family, and he never smiled save for the one he gave her to convince her he was okay. With Kaeya, Klee knew Albedo got all of that plus some and she couldn’t help but be thankful for the knight’s existence when she considered the positive effect it had on her brother’s quality of life. The subtle bounce of Kaeya’s steps slowly lulled the explosive little girl to sleep while she dreamed of the days she would spend with them.
“I think she fell asleep,” Albedo whispered, walking up the front steps to their house. “I’ll put her in bed when we get inside.” Kaeya reasoned, also in a quieter volume than normal. Once the door slowly swung open, Kaeya walked to Klee’s bedroom and slowly lowered the girl into her bed, tucked her dodoco under her arm, kissed her on the forehead, and covered her with a blanket. “Sweet dreams, spark knight.” The captain whispered as he turned on her knights of favonius special nightlight before stepping out and clicking the door to a close. He breathed a sigh of relief as he waited to hear her stir awake, delighted to instead hear a light snore. He heard the jingle of keys being placed on their hook in the living room and followed their clanging to find his prince standing by a small table emptying his coat pockets. Kaeya took off his boots and placed them next to Albedo’s before wrapping his arms around the shorter man’s waist and patiently waiting for him to finish emptying his pockets. “Okay, that is everything. Do you want me to make some food or do you want to wait on that?” Albedo asked, allowing Kaeya to pull his hair out of the half up half down braided ponytail it had been in all day. “If you’re hungry I will gladly assist you in making something, but if it is up to my own desires, I would rather have dessert first,” Kaeya smiled into the alchemist’s neck, knowing the consequences of such remarks. “Is that so?” The prince turned to pull the taller man into an aggressive kiss before he picked his knight up, carried him to their bedroom, and slowly clicked the door to a close behind them.
