They really just can’t catch a break, can they?
They got a call about a robbery, and of course, it was up to the ninja to do something about it, it wasn’t like there were cops or anything! The group of six brightly colored ninjas sprinted down the alley after the crooks. Just as Lloyd was calling out a formation, one of the crooks reached into their coat and produced a bag, before anyone could respond, they threw it behind them. The six attempted to scatter, only for the lightning ninja in blue to get hit with the bag, causing it to explode on him, he coughed violently after inhaling the powder, making him fall onto his knees. “JAY!”
Cole ran over to the other, the powder making a sort of dustcloud around the other, “You guys go catch them, I'll stay with Jay.”
The remaining ninja looked to their leader who nodded, “We can handle them, call us if something’s wrong,” he turned back to the direction the crooks ran, “Let's go!”
The four ran as Cole stayed behind and watched as the cloud disappeared but Jay continued to cough, “Jay,” he patted his back, trying to help him expel what he inhaled, his coughing lessened to heavy breathing making Cole sigh, “You okay?” Only for something to swipe in his peripheral vision. Looking over he blinked as he saw a reddish-brown tail swaying slowly, and it was connected to Jay’s back. “Jay?”
The blue ninja lifted his head, and looked at the raven, making him gasp. In the mess that was Jay’s curls he could see two triangle ears, they looked like those of a cat, perched innocently while twitching every now and then, and Jay’s pupils were slits. “Jay?”
Said ninja shifting to sit on his knees as he stared at him, his head tilted slightly and eyes boring into him as if trying to pick apart his soul. He went to reach down, only for Jay to pounce on him, making the two topple over suddenly. Cole landed with a yelp and looked to Jay having buried his face in the crook of his neck, he could feel him smiling. “J-Jay!?”
The sound of rumbling came from the lightning master, he could feel it vibrate against him, “Are you purring?!”
Jay continued to rub his head into the crook of Cole’s neck but did pull away from Cole’s neck, only to head but his chin, practically begging for attention. It didn’t hurt thankfully, but Cole still didn’t know how to respond, although he did bring a hand to Jay’s head, fingers tangling themselves in his curls to gently scratch. The transformed ninja practically melted, pushing himself into Cole’s hand. Seeing this he pulled out his communicator and pressed any of the contacts, it was Lloyd. “Did something happen to Jay? Are you two alright?” The green ninja asked as soon as he picked up.
“So, how do I put this, Jay’s now a cat.”
“...What?”
“Not like a cat-cat, but he’s got ears and a tail, and he’s acting like one- hey don’t bite me!” Jay had gotten bored and started to swat at Cole’s arm, and when he went to pull away, his now sharp nails grabbed on and he bit into the earth ninja’s hand, but not enough to draw the blood.
“What…okay, we’ll be there as soon as we drop these guys off. Don’t go anywhere.”
“Okay, see you when you get here.”
Cole hung up and sighed, Jay still in his lap and was now back to rubbing against his neck, acting like he didn’t just bite the fire out of his hand. “Jay, can you understand me, or talk?”
He was actually getting worried that Jay hadn’t said a word when he was the chattiest one on the team. The redhead pulled away and looked him dead in the eye and grinned, “Mate!” Then buried his face into Cole’s neck again.
The earth ninja’s face flushed, what the actual hell?

They arrived back over thirty minutes later and Cole hadn’t moved from his spot on the ground since Jay’s sudden tackle. The blue ninja remained in his lap rubbing his face against Cole’s neck. “Cole?”
The earth ninja looked over and let out a sigh, “Thank FSM our here!”
The others could only look in disbelief at the sight, seeing the tail protruding from Jay’s back from a ripped hole, and pointed ears twitching every now and then as he continued to rub against the taller man. “You weren’t kidding.”
“What do we do? How do we fix him?”
Zane hummed, “Perhaps Dr. Borg has a solution, considering Wu and Misako are currently away on vacation and are out of reach.”
“Well we don’t have any other options, Jay can you get off me?”
Cole attempted to gently pry the blue ninja off of him and the response he got was Jay’s new claws digging into his back and a responding “NO!”
The raven winced and let go, “Okay, not happening, got it.” Before anyone could say or do anything, he wrapped his arms around the transformed man, one arm looped under Jay’s knees and the other around his back, and easily lifted him up bridal style, the smaller man yelped and clung tighter at the sudden movement. “Okay, let’s go.”’

Cole sighed as he collapsed face-first onto his bed with Jay clinging to his back. They have just arrived back at the monastery after seeing the professor, Cole was forced to go with him and Jay as Jay absolutely refused to leave the room without him, his hands crackled with electricity until Cole stepped up and said he’d stay with him. After a few quick tests, being probed with a needle, and other regular checkup things, Cyrus was able to find that the substance thrown at them was a body alternating tea. Thankfully with how the changes were only partial, it would only last a few days.
Thank FSM for that.
“Cole?”
“Mmhr?” He turned his head a bit to look to the open door, seeing Lloyd, “Zane’s about to cook, what do you want?”
“Anything is fine.”
“Okay,” The blond left the room and Cole moved to bury his face in the bed again, he could feel Jay purring on his back. He let out a yawn and rested his eyes, a quick nap wouldn’t hurt.
