Uh... I hope y'all don't mind that this is one treat for both of you... I saw both your prompts and ended up with a modern-day magic AU ft. Magician WJX and his familiars (cat shapeshifters) YX and YQ 😅 I hope you like it

AU Notes:
- the Ye twins come from a prestigious (powerful) line of shapeshifting spirits. can they transform into other animals and magical creatures? yes. they just like being household cats for the mobility (and free service)
- the relationship between witches and familiars in this au is kind of like the relationship between maester and weapon in soul eater. no, most familiars can't transform into weapons. yes, the more their souls resonate w each other, the more powerful they are.
- familiars come in as many varieties as there are spirits or ghosts or youkai.
- obv, witches with familiars are more powerful than witches without familiars. actually, you usually don't get witches without familiars. most people can't use magic unless they have a familiar. people who can only appear once or twice every generation.
- guess who that once-in-a-generation witch is :))
- obv, ye's get only the best, even when it comes to partner witches. and obv, YQ doesn't wanna be left behind by YX. thanks to them being twins, WJX has the singular honor of being the partner (catsitter) of two familiars from the age of 10
- when YX runs away, he ends up running to WJX. he still ends up befriending SMQ in game and in person tho!
- oh, btw, glory still exists
- this is future WJX/YX. up to you if you want WJX/YX/YQ... i can see both happening
- what is everyone else? idk! i'd think HWQ is a witch partnered with ZXJ. SMQ still dies but ends up as SMC's familiar. you'd think HST would be a familiar with his breath capacity, but no he's actually YWZ's witch
