Chapter Text
Lying together on a plush patch of grass accented with with a myriad of yellow wildflowers were two hedgehogs of azure and rose. The sun was setting over the horizon, tinting the high-hanging clouds a purple hue burning over brilliant orange. The evergreens that shone so rich in daylight were dimming to mere shadows, the sea just beyond them resting placid.
"Would you look at that?" mused the young man. His hands were tucked behind his head. The woman beside him hummed in agreement, "I told you it would be a beautiful one this evening!"
From his reclined position he could only see the backside of her ears and her red headband but he felt her hand resting gently on his chest and her cool steady breath tickling his side. He smiled as he reminisced for a moment on this new devlopment. Never had he thought he would fall so deeply for anyone in his life, especially not for a girl, now woman, who had been on his tail since they were young children. He took one of the hands placed behind his head and transferred it to her own quills, their bodies shifting once more to find comfort. She looked up at him, eyes gleaming expectantly. He chuckled, now turning his body toward her. He let moments pass, purposely building tension until she finally went in for a kiss on her own volition. When she did he playfully dodged her lips, whipping his cheeks quickly to the side.
She let out a frustrated grunt and went in again once his lips faced her once more with a cheeky smirk coloring his features. He was too quick, and when she went in for a second try, he avoided her lips again laughing as he did so.
"Sonnniccccc, you're ruining the moment!" she grumbled, though she also found some humor in it. This was much different from his past attempts at avoiding her affection where strain and discomfort once lived now shown an air of playful challenge. She went in for a third, fourth, fifth kiss, each expertly avoided by the blue hedgehog. She rolled her eyes and scrunched her nose at him, but then dissolved into laughter with him.
When the moment presented itself he stole a kiss from her lips for himself. She melted into it, snuggling herself closer to him holding the back of his head as to not let him slip out too early for her liking.
"Looks like," Sonic said between lighter kisses, "I'm just too fast for ya, Ames."
