Chapter Text
“Severus Tobias Snape! I am not raising this child all on my own!” You argue ferociously with your husband.
“Darling, I cannot leave my students in the hands of another Potions Master.” Severus tries to explain.
“It takes two to make a child, Severus. You will not abandon the process now because you have control issues in the classroom. Find. A. Solution.” You snap out, turning on your heel to go soothe the baby that had started crying in the other room.
A month ago, you and Severus had finally welcomed your little boy into the world. You would call him a little bundle of joy but Tiberius Albus Prince was just as grumpy as his father. The first month of caring for your baby had been incredibly hectic. The two of you were constantly getting up in the middle of the night when he cried and regularly terrified that his crying meant something was seriously wrong. Both Narcissa and Poppy had gotten several late night Floo calls in a panic.
You’d been granted maternity leave from your consulting job at the DMLE but even once it ended, you always worked from home and would be able to look after Tiberius. Severus, on the other hand, had turned down his paternity leave offer from Hogwarts. Your husband had been helpful and hands on for everything so far but now he felt obligated to go back to school and leave you to take care of Tiberius on your own. Severus has always been well aware of how you feel about misogynistic Pureblood bullshit and should have known better than to even try to pull this with you. Now, he was suffering the consequences.
Pulling a crying Tiberius out of his crib, you hold him close and rock him slowly. He stares up at you with wide teary eyes and grips your shirt tightly.
“It’s alright, sweetheart.” You coo at him. “Everything is fine, Ty.”
Eventually, you realize he just needs a change and you promptly take care of it. Once he’s clean, his mood improves quickly. It only takes you two rounds of Twinkle Twinkle for him to fall asleep again and you set him back down in his crib to continue his nap.
When you make your way back downstairs, you’ve calmed down. Severus is in the study and you walk in to apologize.
“Sev, honey, I’m sorry. I’m not sorry about standing up for myself but I’m sorry that I yelled at you.” You tell him softly.
“You were right.” Sev responds guiltily. “I Flooed Albus. He believes there is a third option, a perfect solution.”
“Oh?” You raise an eyebrow in question.
“Apparently, it is quite easy for the Headmaster to expand a suite. How would you feel about joining me with Tiberius at Hogwarts this year?” He asks seriously.
“Oh my god.” You beam at him mischievously. “I am going to drive you crazy. How many students do you think are going to offer to babysit?”
