Chapter 1: What's wrong (with me)?
Chapter Text
Why?
Why couldn’t she get the disgustingly cheerful and nauseatingly colorful blonde out of her head? Wednesday Addams didn’t obsess over people unless she was plotting their murder. And no matter how murderous her feelings towards her lycanthrope roommate were when she first met her, it pained her to admit that those comforting feelings of murderous hatred had long since been replaced by feelings she wasn’t at all familiar or comfortable with.
The way thousands of spiders seemed to swarm her stomach when the blonde smiled at her. Or how the blonde somehow managed to completely reverse her hatred for human touch. Not human touch in general, but every time Enid touched her she felt like that spot of her skin was being stabbed by a thousand glowing needles. A feeling she rather relished, and for some reason couldn't get enough of.
Not only that, but the blonde also was the only person from Nevermore she kept in touch with over the extended break. They’d spend hours and hours on end texting back and forth about everything and nothing.
Enids' poor excuse of a mother and her obsession with Enid becoming a ‘normal werewolf’, Pugsleys’ new obsession with using flashbang grenades to fish, why the trees sounded the way they did, Enid her inability to shift again and her mothers’ resulting taunting, … All in all Wednesday got to know a whole new side to her roommate. A side that was dark, hidden and drained of almost all the joy and color there is. And much to her surprise, Wednesday didn’t like it one bit.
But one subject they both didn’t talk about during those weeks. The hug. The hug left Wednesday feeling as if the entire universe had a new center. The hug left her feeling in a way she never thought she’d truly feel. Happy. The hug made her look forward to the next one, even though every conscious part of her screamed at her for wanting to change who she was.
Wednesday couldn’t help but sigh as she looked across their shared room at the object of her unexplained obsession, feeling a (for some reason unpleasant) painful tug at her stomach as she saw the blonde was once again completely absorbed by her phone, smiling and giggling as she was once again texting with the gorgon boy that she was for some reason head over heels with. And for some reason, that knowledge made her stomach feel like a bottomless pit.
She sighed again, trying to focus on the book she was reading “rare diseases in outcasts. Symptoms and treatment” hoping it would provide her with an answer for why she was experiencing the things she did. Not that it had much use, because up until now all she found was a disease that caused vampires to develop cavities, werewolves to lose their fur and a kind of disease that made the snakes on a gorgons head grow to the size of two meters each which would lead to them being able to get in front of the gorgon and petrify him or her. For a second she was left wondering if she could infect Ajax with this disease. But it was a rare disease, plus there was this tiny voice in the back of her head telling her Enid wouldn’t approve. She didn’t know why she cared if the blonde werewolf would approve, but for some reason she did.
With a frustrated groan, she tossed the book to the side and walked over to her closet, only to retrieve her bow and arrow.
“I’m going to hunt.” she simply said, leading Enid to wish her happy hunting. Something was off about the blonde girls' voice, but she couldn’t put her finger on what exactly it was.
She didn’t even make it off the grounds before that nagging feeling building deep inside her chest took over. Something was wrong. Something was terribly wrong with Enid.

Chapter Text
Wednesday Addams sprinted back towards the room she shared with the blonde. The only thought that went through her head was the wish to please not be too late. She didn’t care who she crashed into or had to throw to the sides. She didn’t even care when she had to push Eugene out of her way and almost caused him to fall down a flight of stairs. None of those people mattered. Something was wrong with Enid. Enid needed her. And she was not going to let the blonde blabbering unicorn-loving girl that was her roommate down.
She reached their room in what must have been record-time, but she couldn’t care less about that. There was a scent in the air. A scent she knew all too well. A scent that didn’t belong in the air surrounding their shared room at all.
Blood.
The air smelled like blood.
It seemed like Enid locked the doors, but Wednesday would be damned if she would waste time looking for her key. Or her lockpicks. Instead of that, she went for the quickest option she could think of. Grateful for her father learning her the ways of getting through a locked door, she took a couple of steps back before she kicked in the door.
"ENID!!" she screams, frozen at the sight in front of her "NO! Nonono..."
What she saw made her darkened heart break into a million little pieces. There, laying in her bed, lay Enid. Blood coming from her slit wrists soaking her bedsheets. Wednesday rushed over to the blond girl, desperately checking for a pulse while she did something Wednesday Addams had never done before in her life. She screamed at the top of her lungs for help.
The relief she felt when she felt that Enid still had a pulse was indescribable. It was faint and it was weak, but it was there. She rushed over to her desk, looking for the first-aid kit she always kept there. She screamed for help again, but as she grabbed the bright red pouch she couldn’t help but notice her cries for help had no effect. Making a split-second decision, she grabbed her phone as well, calling Xavier and putting him on loudspeaker as she started improvising tourniquets on the arms of her roommate.
“Hey Wednesday” Xaviers' voice came over the phone “I thought you’d never call me back and…”
“SHUT UP and listen!” she yelled, barely keeping it together. Thank whatever being there was for her family's long tradition of torture and her brothers' fascination with everything sharp or explosive. At least it left her with the skills of a combat medic. “Run and warn a nurse to come to mine and Enids room…” she said as she finished applying the pressure on the first tourniquet, causing Enid to yelp in pain, causing Wednesdays' heart to feel like it was being ripped apart. “Why Wednesday, what’s wrong? Did something happen to Enid?”
She rolled her eyes, of course something happened to Enid, otherwise she wouldn’t be calling him desperately for help “She slashed her wrists, she still has a pulse and I’m applying tourniquets but I need an ambulance and equipment.” She could hear a whole load of curse-words coming from the artist as he was yelling for people to get out of the way “tell her to bring blood. Or at least fluids. I’m going to hang up now to call 911…” she said before she hung up, just being able to hear Xavier telling her he was almost at the infirmary.
Wednesday was almost done applying the second tourniquet when a calm voice told her she reached Jericho 911 dispatch. “This is Wednesday Addams. Ambulance needed for heavy blood-loss in a not-turned werewolf at Nevermore” she said, barely noticing the hot tears that were now streaming down her face “We are in room 13, Ophelia hall. My roommate slit both her wrists in length. Massive loss of blood.” She grunted as she applied pressure to the second tourniquet as she could hear multiple people come running up the stairs yelling both her and Enids names. “The nurse is about to arrive with fluids and equipment, I applied tourniquets on both arms but she already lost a lot of blood. She has a shallow heartbeat and is barely breathing…”
At the same moment two of the nurses led by Xavier burst into the room, the operator tells her an ambulance is on its way, as well as multiple police vehicles for escort. She sighs, for the first time in her life Wednesday Addams feels relieved that other people are here to take over. She can deal with the nastiest of injuries, she has no problem inflicting them most of the time either. But seeing her roommate like this only makes her feel powerless. Like she failed her. Like she should have seen the signs that without a doubt must have been there.
Her attention gets drawn by the head-nurse, demanding a briefing. Quickly and clinically she tells them everything she knows, but when the nurse compliments her for putting on the tourniquets, it barely registers. Then she looks down at her hands. Her hands are covered in blood. Enids’ blood. Wednesday Addams is no stranger when it comes to blood. Hell, her mother is half-vampire. But when she realizes she’s covered in Enid’s blood, she can’t get over the toilet bowl fast enough. She throws up. Violently. Before sliding down to the floor, clutching her knees to her chest.
“Are you okay?” one of the nurses asks her. She almost kills him, for asking such a dumb question, but instead yells at him to go back and help Enid. He calmly sits down next to her, as the sound of several sirens fills the air, and explains that they don’t need two people to put her on an IV, and that Wednesday already did the most important part. She looks up, feeling confused until he explains that if she wouldn’t have applied the tourniquets when she did… He doesn’t finish the sentence, but she knows where it was supposed to go. If she didn’t come in when she did and put tourniquets on Enids’ arms, Enid would be gone. Dead.
If she didn't sprint back, Enid would’ve never smiled at her or anyone ever again.
That realization breaks her. And everything around her slowly turns to black.
Chapter 3: The way to the hospital, and a surprisingly interesting nurse
Chapter Text
Wednesday Addams woke up with the wailing sounds of sirens surrounding her “Where am I?” she asked the school nurse that was riding with her “Where is Enid?” the nurse wanted to answer, but Wednesday didn’t give him the chance and kept firing of questions. Where was Enid? How was she doing? Why was she not with her? Were the ambulances bringing them to the same hospital? Why did she do it?
“Will you SHUT UP please, miss Addams?” the nurse almost barked at her “You are in one of the three ambulances going from Nevermore to Jericho hospital.” He saw her inhale but put up his hand “Before you ask, mister Ottinger suffered a very heavy panic attack after he saw the scene when he brought the paramedics to your dorm.” She nodded, happy that at least enough people liked Enid to help her out when she was in a crisis.
“Miss Sinclair is in the ambulance in front of us, and yes everyone will be brought to the same hospital” he said “Now to the why, we don’t have a clue yet, but miss Sinclair left an envelope addressed to you.” Wednesday looked up in surprise. Of course, she’d heard of suicide-letters before, but for starters, she’d expected her roommate to text her or something, not actually sit down and write a letter. And two, why on this wretched earth would Enid Sinclair address her last words towards Wednesday? She sighed and held up her hand, but the nurse shook his head “The sheriff has it. The headmistress gave it to him after reading it and truth be told, they were both looking rather murderous.”
Why did both the headmistress and the sheriff get to read this letter before her? It was addressed to HER, not to them. but apparently, the nurse saw the question coming and explained that it was the schools protocol in case of an (attempted) suicide by a student and apparently the headmistress found that there was reason to have the sheriff read the letter as well. Wednesday huffed, understanding very well why they read it, but still not liking it.
“Anyways” the nurse continues “miss Sinclair looks like she’ll pull through, at least according to the head-nurse.” He pauses for a second, looking Wednesday in the eyes “But she is incredibly lucky you found her when you did. One of the paramedics said that if you’d been a minute later…” they look at each other in silence. Only now she notices that the nurse is the only one with her, but before she can ask he starts to speak again.
“You had a panic attack yourself, during which you hit your head” that explains the pounding feeling behind her forehead “and because of that they wanted you checked out as well.” That explains why she’s not in the ambulance with Enid, but not why there’s only the nurse with her. When she asks, however, the nurse chuckles and explains he used to be a paramedic up until two and a half years ago, so the paramedic decided to ride with Enid together with the head-nurse and the paramedic from that ambulance.
She winced as the ambulance rode over a speedbump, but the fact she didn’t feel like she had to throw up at least made her pretty sure that if she had a concussion, it wasn’t a very bad one. She noticed the nurse asking her something, but since she wasn’t really paying attention she asks him to repeat it. “Where did you learn first aid like that?” the nurse repeats his question “Last time I saw tourniquets being improvised like that was when I serving in country…”
Wednesday can’t help but feel surprised. She didn’t expect the nurse to be a veteran. He seems to read her thoughts and explains to her he used to be in the USMC as a corpsman and did two tours. He rolls up his pants showing a prosthetic leg and explains that on his last tour he suffered a very nasty gunshot-wound to the leg, so they had to amputate his right leg below the knee. He chuckles as he explained that he probably wouldn’t have made it back to base for the surgery, but that his life got saved by a fellow marine who was a vampire. The woman was in love with him and rather than letting him bleed out on the way back to base she decided to bite him, risking a court-marshal in the process.
“We’re married now, although it turns out you’re a vampire it’s pretty hard to find work in the medical field.” Wednesday can't help but roll her eyes. That both makes sense and is discriminating at the same time. “Looks like we’re here” the nurse says, as the ambulance clearly drives into some kind of driveway. He looks at her and tells her to stay calm. “They’re immediately going to start operating on Enid, so you’ll only see her after post-op.” knowing she’ll have to wait before she can see Enid hurts, but at least it will give her a chance to try and get the sheriff to share the contents of the letter with her. And maybe figure out what the hell is going on with her. Why does she react to Enid the way she does?
“Oh yeah, by the way…” the nurse says, visibly nervous all of a sudden “both the school and the sheriff called your parents. They’ll be here in a couple of hours.”
THEY DID WHAT!?
Chapter 4: Realizations in the ED
Chapter Text
Why did they have to call her parents? Yes, of course, protocol blablabla. That doesn’t mean she was looking forward to her parents smothering affection and worries. ‘maybe they can help you with what it is you’re experiencing’ a small voice in the back of her head whispers. Okay, maybe they can. But that doesn’t mean she has to like asking her parents (let alone her mother) for help.
The ambulance comes to a stop and while they get her out, she manages to catch a glimpse of Enid. What she sees almost causes her heart to freeze. Her roommate is intubated, has multiple IV’s sticking out of her and clearly is being administered oxygen. That’s all she can see however before the school-nurse positions himself between her and Enid “Don’t watch Wednesday.” he softly orders before checking if they took Enid in. As soon as he sees she went into the emergency-OR, he pushes the gurney with Wednesday on it inside. Much to her dismay, as she is sure she is perfectly capable of walking.
“Wednesday Addams, sixteen years old” he briefs the hospital-staff as he rolls her in “gave first-aid to last entry, suffered a panicattack after handing over the scene causing her to hit her head.” She can’t help but groan, does really everyone need to know all of this? Not like she has a say in the matter as the nurse keeps going, explaining her oxygen levels are good but that he suspects a light to mild concussion. She’s sent to treatment-room three, and told a doctor will be with her in a second.
“How’s Eugene?” she asks the nurse as he transfers her from the gurney to the treatment bed. Ugh. She hates hospital beds. “He’s a little shaken up, but otherwise okay” the man explains to her “but with what he went through last semester the head-nurse wanted him to get a full checkup.”
Wednesday nods understandingly, and to her surprise feels some of the tension built up in her chest disappear. At least Eugene will be okay.
“By the way, I don’t think we’ve ever gotten properly introduced” the nurse interrupts her thoughts “I’m Tim. Tim Lancaster” he extends a hand which Wednesday after a second of doubt shakes “most of the students call me Sarge though” he chuckles. She can’t deny that the guy looks more like an active-duty sergeant than a school-nurse. She nods again “It’s a pleasure to meet you, sergeant Lancaster.” she says.
A couple more minutes pass before the doctor comes by to check her over, which takes surprisingly short. The verdict is that she’ll have to spend at least 72 hours in observation. Mostly because they want to monitor the concussion, but also because they’re worried about her getting traumatized by the event. Tim nods, and asks if she’ll be okay while he checks on Eugene. She nods again, preferring to be alone with her thoughts for a while.
Traumatized. Sure. Wednesday Addams who vivisects squirrels, rabbits and other small animals as a pastime is going to get traumatized by some blood. But then the realization hits her. This was not just some blood. This was not just some random animal.
This was Enid.
Enids’ blood. Enids’ arms that she tied bandages around to stop the bleeding. Enid…
Something in her clicks. All she cared about from the second she walked out of their shared room was if Enid was okay, and when she found Enid all she could think about was how she had to save her.
Of course, she can tell herself she did it because it was the right thing to do. But then she’d be lying to herself. And although she has no problems lying to anyone on earth (besides a certain blonde werewolf) she hates lying to herself. The reason why she needed to save Enid wasn’t that it was the right thing to do. It was because she didn’t want to imagine having to live in a world without the absurdly colorful girl.
“Fuck…” the dark-haired girl mutters, as a realization she’s definitely not ready for yet sets in.
“Fuckfuckfuckfuck….”
Chapter 5: The talk with her father
Chapter Text
She must have fallen asleep. Luckily, it was a dreamless sleep. Because she definitely would’ve dreamt about Enid. ENID! How long had she been asleep? How was Enid doing? She frantically searched for the call-button and once she found it, she pressed it repeatedly. While she waits for a nurse, she notices she’s no longer in the treatment-room she was first in. apparently when she was sleeping they changed her to a different room. Makes sense, treatment rooms are for people that come into the ED, not to sleep in.
It took a minute for a hospital nurse to show up, and she is slightly disappointed it wasn’t the Sarge.
“Ah, you’re finally awake.” the nurse said. Wednesday couldn’t help but roll her eyes. Of course she was awake, how else could she press the call-button? Wait, finally? “How long was I out for?” she asked the nurse, who looked on her tablet before telling her she slept for almost nine hours, and that it was close to eleven PM now. For a moment Wednesday doesn’t know what to say… nine hours… That means her parents have arrived. But more importantly, that means Enid is definitely out of surgery!
“How is Enid doing?” she asks the nurse “Enid Sinclair. She’s my roommate…” she doesn’t want to tell the nurse more. She probably already heard everything there is to know about her ‘heroics’. The nurse nods, scrolling through her tablet “She’s asleep at the moment. The surgery went well and the doctors are hopeful she’ll make a full recovery. That’s all I can tell you…”
Wednesday stops listening. Enid is going to be okay. She can’t help but feel an enormous sense of relief. Relief that she wasn’t too late. Relief that she won’t have to live in a world without Enid Sinclair. Relief that the blonde wolf is going to be okay. “How’s Eugene doing?” she asks, but the nurse doesn’t seem to understand who she’s talking about “Mister Ottinger? Talks a lot about bees?”
“Oh the small kid?” the nurse replies “He was allowed to go back to school within hours after being admitted.” Again Wednesday can’t help but feel a little guilty. The only reason Eugene had to be here in the first place, was because he brought the paramedics to their room.
“Are my parents here?” Wednesday asks, to which the nurse nods and says that they’re in the waiting room. The sheriff also wanted to speak to her, but he left half an hour ago even though Wednesday insists that it can wait until the morning, the nurse insists on calling him. Wednesday couldn’t care less about that for now. For now, she’s hungry, and she really REALLY needs to speak to her father. “Could I maybe get something to eat?” she asks the nurse, but she shakes her head and explains the best she can do is some JELL-O. Wednesday tells her she’ll think about it and asks if the nurse could get her parents for her. She nods, and as the nurse leaves Wednesday lets her head fall back in relief. Enid is going to be okay.
“My little thunderstorm” her father rushes into the room “Oh my little tarantula… we were so worried when the school called and told us you were in the hospital” he wraps his arms around his only daughter -much to Wednesdays' dismay- as he keeps rambling on and on. About how first the school called and told them that Wednesday had had a panic-attack and hit her head and that she was in the hospital, and how about fifteen minutes later the sheriff called and explained what had happened. Much to her surprise, it was the sheriff that asked her parents to come and not the headmistress. Her mother as usual is way more sophisticated and calm, but Wednesday can tell that something is going on given her mother can barely sit still. But when she asks about it, the only answer is that it isn’t her place to deliver the message.
“Mother, could I talk to father for a second please? Alone.” Wednesday asks, much to both her parents' surprise. Their little torturer needing to speak to one of her parents?
“Of course my dearest tornado, you want me to see if I can find you something to eat while you speak to your father?” her mother replies. Wednesday nods, both surprised and glad her mother decided not to make a fuss about her question to speak to her father alone.
“Father, please sit down…” Wednesday says, motioning to the chair, preparing herself for a very awkward conversation. Her father sits down and she starts bombarding him with questions and all those strange things she’s been feeling lately when it comes to Enid. She leaves nothing out, not even the part where her only thought when she found Enid was that she didn’t want to live in a world without the blonde. It takes her more than ten minutes before she explained everything, and now she looking at her father, waiting for his answer.
“Well, my little storm-cloud” he starts “the answer to all your questions is really simple.” She doubts that, because if so she wouldn’t need to ask her father about it. But a tiny voice in the back of her head tells her that she knows exactly what’s going on, but needs her father to explain it to her because let’s be honest, Wednesday Addams hasn’t exactly ever done feelings.
“Father… Please. No theatrics.” She says in a voice that gets as close to begging as her parents ever heard from her. Her father takes a few breaths, knowing he’s going to drop the L-bomb and he has no clue how his daughter will react. “Mi querida miércoles… You’re an Addams.” He pauses, but Wednesday motions for him to continue “Which means that you love like an Addams. And clearly my little tarantula, you love Enid in the way only an Addams can…”
Wednesday leans back. She was right. Normally she loves to be right, but right now she hates it. How could a girl as colorful and cheerful as Enid ever love the dark and gloomy presence that is Wednesday Addams? It seems like her father reads her mind “Don’t worry about it being unrequited love, my little thunderstorm… I know you see the way my bloodline has loved their partners over the centuries as a curse” she can’t help but nod, especially when thinking about how touchy her parents are “but actually it’s the universe matching us with the best person imaginable for us… So if you love her, she loves you.”
She can’t help it. She feels all the feelings she always kept out. She’s afraid, what if her father’s mistaken? She’s excited, because what if he’s right? But most of all she feels in love. A feeling that makes her more confused than she’s ever been.
“Thank you, father…” she whispers, and as if on cue there’s a knock on the door as her mother came back. She explains she didn’t want to go to far so couldn’t find anything that didn’t come out of a microwave. “The sheriff’s here for you by the way.” she adds.
“Mister and missis Adams, Wednesday” he greets them politely as he walks in and puts a bag clearly containing a burger on her traytable “I thought you might be hungry, so I brought you a hamburger and some fries…” he motions to the bag, which Wednesday opens feeling extremely hungry all of a sudden “I’ve been in this hospital a couple of times myself, and after nine PM all they have is JELL-O…”
She thanks him and sinks her teeth in the burger. Damn, that’s a good burger! When she finishes it, she fishes out the fries, noting her parents have left the room.
“Wednesday” sheriff Galvin starts, clearly uncomfortable with the situation that he’s in “As you may have heard, I’ve read the letter from your roommate.” She nods, growing worried about where this conversation is going. What did Enid write in that letter? “Before I let you read it, I want your promise you’ll stay in this bed until tomorrow…” She nods, feeling more and more uneasy with the second “Here you go, but please leave it in the evidence-bag.” the sheriff says as he hands her the letter.
My dearest Wednesday…

Chapter Text
My dearest Wednesday
If you’re reading this, I’m probably dead. Unless I’m not even capable of doing that right.
I’m sorry for doing this to you. The mess, the smell, … although I’m not entirely sure you’ll mind. You’re Wednesday Addams after all. Anyways, the reason I’m doing this…
Yesterday the council of elders approved my placement in “the pack house” without as much as letting me know that my mother put my name forward. But you have no idea what I’m talking about.
The packhouse is where the lesbian members of our pack are sent to “learn the joys of heterosexual normalcy.”
Or in other words, when this semester is over I’ll be forced to sexually serve all the single male wolves in our pack whenever they want. And this placement would last until I am cured and imprint on a male werewolf.
It’s not the sexual part that made me do this. God knows I’m by no means a virgin, although I wish I was.
Since I was twelve, both my father and uncle have used me for their pleasure. My father because my mother hasn’t touched him like that since she became Alpha shortly after I was born. My uncle… If only I knew.
I’ve spoken to my mother about it of course, but she told me not to make up stories. Even when I showed her the bruises, she’d tell me to just shut up and be normal for once.
Wednesday, I need to tell you something.
That night, during that hug after the whole thing with Crackstone, I imprinted on you.
I’m sorry, I know you don’t do feelings, but it’s something we werewolves can’t control.
Wednesday, the reason I don’t see any more joy in life is because I can’t imagine my life being spent with anyone that’s not you. Not only am I not able to imagine it, but I also wouldn’t want to imagine it if my life would depend on it. The reason I see no more way out is because I’d rather die than live a life where I can’t have you by my side.
Wednesday, I love you. But it’s a love that will never be allowed.
I’m sorry my love. Just know that I love you more than the color pink. I love you more than the silver shining of the moon. I love you more than I ever thought would be possible.
I’m sorry Wednesday, but I have one last wish that I feel I can only trust you with. Before they put me in the coffin will you sprinkle the seeds to red, black and yellow roses over me? That way in death, you and I can at least be a little bit together.
Wednesday, I love you
With love
Your Enid
Wednesday was livid. And crying. She didn’t know which thought was the most prominent in her head, but she was sure of two things. Number one, no-one would EVER harm her Enid again. Not as long as she had one last drop of blood to spill. And number two, a whole bunch of werewolves were going to die very slow and painful deaths.
"Wednesday Addams, you promised me you'd stay in that bed." the sheriff said, as she was already getting out. Before she could argue with him he started explaining -whispering- that at the earliest light both the local police, state police and the FBI would raid the compound-like ranch where the Sinclair-pack lived and they'd have warrants for the detainment and interrogation of Enid her mother, father and uncle.
That knowledge calmed Wednesday down a little bit, mostly because she knew there were enough members of her family incarcerated throughout the USA that she'd be able to get to them anyways. A smile crept over her face, but it was the kind of smile that made Sherrif Galvin subconsciously reach for his gun. This wasn't an angry teenage girl. This was Evil herself.
Chapter 7: After the letter
Chapter Text
“Wednesday?” Donovan Galvin tried.
The goth in front of him looked like she would be capable of mass murder. And truth be told, if she would go after the Sinclair-pack he might even accidentally ‘lose’ the key to the armory…
He shook his head. He’s the sheriff. He can’t do that.
“Anyways, I put two deputies in front of Enids’ room” he explains “just in case someone let her family know what happened…” Wednesday can’t help but hope someone did. There are so many different kinds of knives in a hospital… she’d make sure to inflict the maximum amount of pain with every single one of them. She’d slowly slice off pieces of skin, cut off fingers, ears, noses, …
“Thanks for the burger by the way…” Wednesday says all of a sudden. She needs to get her mind away from this. No matter how terrible they are, Wednesday is sure Enid won’t be happy if she tortures her family members to death. No matter how much they deserve it.
The sheriff nods and looks at his watch. He tells her to not do anything stupid, wishes her a fast recovery and after handing her a copy of the letter, leaves with the promise to be back in the morning.
How did Wednesday miss this? How did she not see how much wrong was being done to her … roommate. She sighs and buries her face in her hands. Hot tears are streaming over her cheeks as silent sobs rage through her body. That’s how her parents found her. An embodiment of defeat. She failed at protecting Enid before. How on earth would she be capable of shielding the girl she… she loved from harm in the future?
“Wednesday” her mother said softly, barely audible “sheriff Galvin told us to come see you… What’s going on?” Wednesday couldn’t help but notice her mother was at a loss for words. Her father seemed none the wiser either. Well, it is the first time in years her parents see her cry. And not just a single tear either. Wednesday feels like her heart is being torn out and poured into acid over and over again.
Her mother repeats her question, and Wednesday wipes away her tears. She isn’t sure what to do. She doesn’t want to air out Enids’ dirty laundry. But maybe her parents could help. They certainly have the connections and resources to make sure Enid wouldn’t have to worry about being put in some state-run program. Personally, she’d like to keep them out of it and deal with everything herself. But not for the first time in recent weeks she realized that she was nothing more than a small pawn in the game of the universe. And dear Belzebub, was the universe a wicked and sadistic player.
“Read this” she says, handing her parents the letter “and then tell me how we are going to help Enid”
To say her parents were mortified was an understatement as there ever was one.
Her mother stood more motionless than any statue ever created as silent tears dripped down her cheeks. Her father on the other hand seemed to be a version of himself that she had never seen. Of course, for her mother, this letter was proof of the worst evil some members of mankind were capable of. But for her father, who knew about Wednesdays’ feelings towards Enid, this ran way deeper. For him, Enid was already his daughter-in-law. And everyone who knew the Addams family knew what that meant.
Enid was family. And nobody hurts a member of the Addams-family an lives to tell the tale.
Chapter 8: Breakfast with the sheriff
Chapter Text
“Good morning Wednesday” the sheriff said as he walked in with a plastic box that he put in front of her “I brought you breakfast… figured that they still serve those disgusting cereal flakes.”
It surprises Wednesday. Yesterday he brought her a burger, today breakfast… It’s not like she and the sheriff are the best of friends, so why is he being so… kind to her? When she asks, however, his answer surprises her. “You opened my eyes, Wednesday.” He says while handing her a fork and a knife “Up until you started attending Nevermore and couldn’t keep your nose out of my cases I thought Nevermore was a school full of freaks, best to be left alone and stay far away from…” he bows his head in shame as they both remember their first encounter “I admit, my earliest encounters with your father and what happened with my wife didn’t help my views…”
Wednesday feels like she should say something, but doesn’t know what. Instead, she opens the box and is surprised as the smell of bacon and eggs and spices overwhelms her. Wrapped in plastic foil she also sees a clearly homemade bear claw. She starts with the bacon and eggs and is surprised by how rich the flavor is. For a man that lives for his job, the sheriff certainly knows how to cook. She continues eating as the sheriff continues talking. Until she finished the bear claw and the sheriff apparently has nothing left to say. She nods a couple of times, thinking about everything the man has said. It’s clear he’s trying to show her he is not just the man that aimed a gun at her when she captured his son. He’s trying to show her he’s a good man, who sees her for what and who she is.
“You know Wednesday…” the sheriff starts off “I have a stack of cold cases with suspected outcast involvement as tall as you.” He chuckles, and she can't help but wonder why he would bring that up. “I’d appreciate it if you’d agree to have a look at them sometime… maybe your way of thinking can shed some new light on some of them…”
Wednesday is surprised to say the least. But she happily agrees. Besides her pathetic excuse for a stalker, the new semester didn’t really hold any mysteries.
“By the way, where are your parents?” the sheriff asks. Wednesdays parents stayed at the hospital late last night until she started falling asleep. “Probably in the most expensive hotelsuite in town” she shrugs “by the way, I spoke to them… Enid will stay with us if she agrees to it. My father will call a couple of judges he knows today to get all the paperwork arranged.”
Much to her surprise, the sheriff doesn’t object at all. He just nods and tells her that if they need any help to ask him for it.
“How did the raid go?” Wednesday asks, secretly hoping that the pack resisted and gave the cops an excuse to shoot all of them. She knows that when it’s just normal bullets it will take a headshot to kill a werewolf, even when they’re not turned, but it will still hurt like hell. She gets worried tho, if she sees the sheriff's face change. “Three local cops in the hospital, as well as four state troopers. And two FBI agents were killed.” He absent-mindedly strokes the star pinned on his chest “Her uncle put up a hell of a fight, he got killed eventually when a SWAT member shot him in the head with a shotgun though.”
Wednesday nods, glad the man is dead, but feeling disappointed that it apparently was a quick death. She keeps listening as the sheriff explains how seven women ranging in age from twenty-nine to sixty were found locked up in a building in the woods. All the elders got arrested, along with the majority of the adults on the ranch. They’ll be charged with enslavement, failure to report a person in distress, and a whole other list of charges including several relating to the production of drugs. “Her mother however got away.” The sheriff says, causing Wednesday to jump out of bed. “HOW?!” she yells, but right that second something in the corner of her eye catches her attention.
This can’t be true. Right there in the hallway, walking towards the nurses station, is Esther Sinclair.

Chapter Text
Wednesday couldn’t believe her eyes. There she was. The monster that allowed her Enid to be molested for years… She felt how pure hatred flowed through her veins…
“Wednesday? What’s wrong?” the sheriffs' voice snapped her out of her thoughts. Right. She couldn’t kill this abomination of a woman with the head of local law enforcement sitting in her room. That sweet revenge would have to wait for another day. Good thing that almost every warden in the country owed her father some favors. She motioned for sheriff Galvin to come to the window, but stay out of sight.
“That woman there is Enids' mother. Not that she deserves that name” she said, causing the sheriff to curse under his breath. “What the fuck is she doing here?” he whispers as they both watched how the woman started talking to the nurse. Wednesday could’ve sworn she saw the nurse tense up when the woman said her name. Meanwhile, the sheriff was on his radio asking for backup.
“Listen up,” he says as he draws his weapon “if she told the nurse her name, hospital security is already on their way.” Wednesday nodded, wishing he’d hurry up already. What he said next however took her completely by surprise.
“I know better than to tell you to stay in this room. My back-up-piece is on my left ankle. Don’t use it unless that woman kills or seriously injures me, one of my deputies or security. Am I clear Wednesday?”
She’s as flabbergasted as she’s ever been, but nods. She takes the pistol from his ankle, happy to see it’s a Colt Detective Special. The Addams family has a few of these in their armory and she’s a pretty good shot with it. “Let's go.” She says as she cocks the hammer.
“ESTHER SINCLAIR! Jericho Sheriff’s Department! Put your hands up and get on your knees NOW!” the sheriff shouts as they move into the hallway. The two deputies in the hallway immediately draw their weapons and make sure they’re not in each other’s line of fire. Wednesdays attention is for a second drawn towards the sign next to the door the deputies were standing near.
‘E. Sinclair’… that’s Enids' room. And if she can see it from where she stands, the monster they’re facing off with can as well.
“I said hands UP and on your KNEES” the sheriff yells again, but the woman just smiles at him. “I’m here to see my daughter, sheriff. Since when is that a crime?” oh how Wednesday wants to torture this woman… she wonders if sheriff Galvin would give her ten unsupervised minutes with this bitch once they have her locked up. Ten would be a stretch actually. Wednesday can cause her pain that will haunt her for the rest of her miserable life in less than a minute. Then she makes a decision.
Despite the sheriff telling her to step back, she walks up to the woman until she’s standing around eight feet away from her. Too far for the woman to try anything without Wednesday shooting her, but close enough that she can get her point across.
“I advise you do as he says,” she tells the woman in front of her coldly “and if you were thinking about going for any of the scalpels on that cart over there, I strongly discourage it.” She gives Esther Sinclair one of her demon-like smiles “Unless you want your pack to hear all about how their mighty alpha got shot in the head by tiny little Wednesday Addams.”
“Wednesday Addams…” Esther says, with a level of toxicity underlining every letter so potent that it makes Wednesday jealous for a second. “So you are the reason my dear little Enid became a deviant…” oh how she wants to blow this two-faced bitch her brains out… The urge gets so bad that she actually takes her finger of the trigger. She wants this bitch alive, so she can make the rest of her life a living hell. And not the enjoyable kind. “I think you mean my dear Enid,” she says, meaning every worth she says “and rest assured, I’ll take good care of her, protect her and I’ll love her with all of my pitch-black heart until the day I die. Things that you never did.” She sees the rage In Esther Sinclairs eyes “Oh yeah, I meant what I said about the scalpels by the way. And I’ll have you know that I never miss.”
She can see how the woman in front of her weighs her options. And then, much to the surprise of almost everyone, Esther Sinclair gets down on her knees with her hands up. “I’ll leave the arrest part to my… friend, the sheriff.” she says, getting out of the way as the sheriff moves in to arrest the monster that is Esther Sinclair.
All of a sudden she hears a door open and right as she turns around, two arms covered in bandages are being wrapped around her.
“I love you Wednesday” she hears the voice that belongs to the girl she’d gladly die for say. And without giving it any thought, she wraps her arms around Enid and hugs her back.
Notes:
Okay, I know a lot of you wanted Wednesday to kill the "momster", but I personally believe that sheriff Galvin would never allow her to do that, no matter how he feels about Esther.
Chapter 10: I'm definitely an Addams...
Chapter Text
Wednesday hugged Enid like she was her lifeline. She noticed how the tears were flowing down her cheeks, but she couldn’t care less. Here in her arms was Enid. The girl she’d die for, but much rather live for. She breathed in her scent and only then noticed that the blonde girl was shaking as raging sobs went through her body.
Gently, she guided the girl back into her room “Sit down my dear…” she whispered as she walked Enid back to her bed. That’s when she realized she was still holding the sheriff’s gun. Not wanting to let Enid alone, she unloaded it and put the bullets in her pocket while putting the gun on the cart near the door. Better not to have a loaded weapon near Enid with what happened only days ago.
“When did you wake up?” she asked the blonde wolve, silently cursing herself for not being there when the girl woke up. Enid replied she woke up only fifteen minutes ago when she heard her mother's voice. She tells how all she could feel was dread. Where was she? Why was her mother here? How come she wasn’t dead?
“And then I heard your voice,” the blonde says as she rests her head on Wednesday's shoulder “and the things you said…” Enid crawls a bit closer to Wednesday, up to the point that she’s almost sitting on her lap. Any other person, she would’ve kicked to the floor long ago. But this is her Enid. If Enid would want to hold her hand all day, hug her in front of everyone and kiss her in front of her parents, she would happily let her. “Yeah,” Wednesday thinks as her mind fills itself with pictures of her and Enid together “I’m definitely an in-love Addams…”
“Did you mean it?” Enid asks, her blue eyes filled with tears “All those things you said… about me being your Enid…” Wednesday nods, stroking Enids' cheek with the tips of her fingers while looking deep into those beautiful blue eyes. She never realized how much she loved the color blue… “Enid, my love…” she whispers, her thumb softly wiping away the tears from Enids' eyes “I meant every single word I said… I’ll be yours, for as long as you’ll want me…” she presses her forehead against Enids, not knowing what to say. She is a master at describing the most excruciating forms of torture imaginable, but she’s at a complete loss when it comes to putting her feelings for Enid into words…
“You do realize that’s going to be for the rest of my life, right?” Enid asks, the shadow of a smile present in her eyes. It tears Wednesday's heart to shreds, realizing the girl is still scared she’ll walk out on her. “I wouldn’t have it any other way…” she whispers, as she realizes how close Enids' lips are to her own. Oh, how she wants to kiss the blonde girl right now…
As if they read each other’s minds, both girls lean toward each other as both of them drown in the other’s eyes. Their lips brush together ever so softly as the door opens…
Chapter 11: Enid wakes up
Chapter Text
ENID’S POV
“Where am I?” is one of Enid Sinclair’s first thoughts as she wakes up and looks around the room she’s in. “If this is heaven, it looks WAY too clinical. And there’s way not enough color.”
But then her eyes land on the monitor standing in the corner, and the realization hits her. She’s alive and in the hospital. She failed. Even something as simple as dying she can’t seem to do right.
A shiver runs down her spine, causing an all too familiar feeling to set in her stomach. She can’t tell why, but she knows she’s in danger. Then the hairs on the back of her neck rise, as she hears a voice she’s all too familiar with. Her mother is here.
“What do you mean, I have to wait for the doctor?” she can hear her mother say, in that same entitled voice she always uses if she has the feeling something or someone doesn’t give her the respect or gratitude she deserves. She knows this voice. Her mother uses it on her on an almost daily basis…
“Okay yeah, if I must wait then I suppose-” all of a sudden a shouting voice interrupts her mother “ESTHER SINCLAIR! Jericho Sheriff’s Department! Put your hands up and get on your knees NOW!” to her surprise, Enid recognizes the yelling voice as that of sheriff Donovan Galvin. She can hear how multiple other people join the sheriff in yelling for her mother to show her hands and get on the ground. Then all of a sudden it gets eerily silent until she hears the voice that belongs to the girl she imprinted on, and therefore will love for the rest of her life.
She hears Wednesday tell her mother to follow the commands given to her by the sheriff. She can’t help but smile as she hears how Wednesday threatens her mother to not go for the scalpels unless she wants the pack to hear how she was shot in the head by Wednesday Addams. Having her pack hear how she was killed by a teenager would definitely be a nightmare come true for her mother. But of course, her mother recognizes Wednesday’s name. Of course, given after she noticed Enid’s scent had changed after imprinting on Wednesday she beat the name out of her.
How dare she -the daughter of the Sinclair’s mighty Alpha- imprint on a girl, a member of the devious Addams family nonetheless.
“So you are the reason my dear little Enid became a deviant…” her mother says. Enid feels how silent tears run over her cheeks as she realizes not for the first time that that’s exactly what she is. A deviant. A disappointment. Someone not deserving of love.
But then she hears Wednesday's reply to her mothers' toxic words. Her heart swells as she hears how Wednesday says that Enid is hers and that she will take care of her, protect her and love her for the rest of her life.
She can’t believe her ears. Wednesday loves her? How? Why? Has the gothic girl gone insane? How could someone as intriguing, special, beautiful and intelligent ever like someone like her? Let alone love her?
As she hears how her mother gives up, she can’t help herself. She throws open the door and wraps her arms around Wednesday, hugging her as she tells the goth girl that she loves her. And much to her surprise -and delight- she feels how Wednesday wraps her arms around her and hugs her back.
It was at this moment Enid knew that she had found her home in the arms of Wednesday Addams.

Chapter Text
Wednesday tenses up as she hears the door open. Within a second she positions herself between Enid and the door, a knife appearing in her hand out of nowhere, ready to throw it straight into the chest of whoever would come in and pose a threat to her little wolverine.
“Whoa whoa Wednesday!!” the sheriff yells, putting his hands up to show he’s not a threat “I’m sorry for interrupting, but I kind of need my gun back…” She nods, sliding the knife back into its hidden compartment. She points to the table where she put the weapon “The bullets are in my pocket.” she says, wrapping her arm around Enid's waist. She feels how she’s trembling in fear, but seems to calm down at Wednesday's touch. “Is there anything else we can help you with?” she asks the sheriff as he reloads and re-holsters his revolver.
“Unfortunately there is,” he says, clearly feeling sorry for interrupting “I’m going to need a statement from you, Wednesday, regarding your role in the arrest…” she nods, understanding he has to make sure everything looks perfect on paper, otherwise the bitch that’s Esther Sinclair might go free because of a technicality. “Does that have to be right now though?” she asks, really doesn’t want to leave Enid’s side. The sheriff shakes his head, explaining to her that it can wait until the afternoon. However, he’ll also need to speak with Enid, and so does her doctor and the hospitals' psychiatrist.
She can feel Enid slump, and pulls the girl closer to her “It’s going to be okay, mon petit chiot lunaire…” she whispers, and although Enid doesn’t understand what Wednesday says, it is said with so much love that it brings tears to her eyes. “Don’t leave me alone…” she whispers, holding on to the dark-haired girl for dear life. At first, she was disappointed she survived, but after hearing Wednesday say she loves her and will take care of her she’s actually afraid she did die, and this is all just a dream.
“Could I speak to both mine and Enid’s doctor please?” she asks the nurse that just entered, clearly confusing the young man “NOW please.” she urges, her eyes almost shooting daggers at the poor guy. She can’t help but wonder if the nurse will actually get the doctors or if he’s just going to get a straight-jacket for her. Part of her hopes for the latter, they’re so fun to get out of… But that’s not what Enid needs. What Enid needs is for her to have a conversation with both their doctors so they can be moved into the same room.
“Miss Addams?” a young redhead asks her “I’m doctor Gwendoline Reaper, I’m in charge of miss Sinclairs treatment. I’ve been told you wanted to speak to me?” Wednesday nods, surprised to hear Enid giggle “But if you don’t mind, I also asked for my doctor…” she says, trying her best not to be distracted by the amazing sound of Enid’s giggles. Her heart feels like it’s on fire as a voice in the back of her head tells her that if she wouldn’t have sprinted back to their room the way she did, she never would’ve heard Enid giggle again…
She shakes her head. She’s not going there. She was on time, and that’s what mattered. “I’ll go check if she’s available.” The redhead says, before walking out of the room. As soon as she left, Enid can’t contain herself anymore and bursts out in laughter. A sound that, much to her surprise, Wednesday already knows she will never grow tired of. “What’s so funny?” she asks the blonde who by now has tears running down her cheeks from laughing.
“I tried to kill myself” Enid answers, almost choking on her laughs “and they give me a doctor called G. Reaper…” the sheriff chuckles as well, but Wednesday’s still none the wiser. Normally she can see through Enid’s jokes pretty fast, although she pretends they’re boring, but this one she doesn’t get. Until the sheriff tells her it’s like assigning Enid the Grim Reaper as her doctor.
She has to admit it is pretty funny, but something else is more important.
She turns around and takes a hold of both of Enid’s upper arms and holds the girl until she stops laughing, looking straight into her eyes. “Never do that to me again,” she says, tears forming in her own eyes “if I would’ve been too late to save you… I don’t think I would have survived that Enid!”
“You were the one that saved me?” is all Enid says back in reply.

Chapter 13: Love is a feeling worth living for...
Chapter Text
Wednesday closes her eyes and doesn’t dare open them, scared of what she’ll see. What if Enid hates her for saving her life? What if Enid tells her to get out and never interfere with her life again? What if Enid doesn’t want anything to do with her anymore? Maybe all Enid really wanted was to escape from Wednesday because she actually doesn’t want to be with her but hates that she has to because of some stupid wolf-thing? What if all Enid cared about was getting out of a future shared with the gloomy, blunt, sadistic and controlling being Wednesday knows she is? What if - *SLAP*
“WEDNESDAY!” she hears a voice yell her name as the sting from being slapped in the face shoots through her body, putting her on high alert. However, as soon as she hears the voice and feels the pain, she registers how the voice reminds her of the bells at a funeral, but at the same time reminds her of the sound of starved vultures finding a dead elephant or of the mockingbird that every morning sings his song on the balcony of their shared room
She snaps open her eyes, all her muscles tense as her eyes scan the room looking for the threat. All she can see are Enid’s blue eyes. Enid has an apologetic look in her eyes, as she slowly brings her hand up to Wednesday's cheek, and softly caresses it while whispering her name softly.
“Wednesday, hey, look at me…” she whispers, for some reason looking extremely worried. “It looked like you were having a panic-attack…” she says softly, still stroking Wednesday’s cheek as her other hand takes a hold of one of the goth girl her hands, and gently squeezes. And that’s what breaks Wednesday.
“Do you… Do you hate me?” she says, as tears again streamed down her cheeks and her petite frame is rocked by sobs. “Please Enid… Don’t hate me…” she begs the blonde girl in front of her. Dear Beelzebub, she can’t imagine a fate worse than Enid hating her.
“Hate you?” Enid replies “Wednesday, my dear, how could I ever hate you?” she lets her hand slide down from Wednesday’s cheek to her chin and lifts her face slightly so that her blue eyes bore themselves into Wednesday's black eyes. “Look me in my eyes” she whispers “and tell me if there’s anything in there that tells you I don’t love you with all of my heart?”
Wednesday tries, because how could Enid love her? But all she can find in the eyes of the blonde is love so pure, it scares her and makes her feel safe and at home at the same time. “But why?” she whispers “Why would you love me?”
She can’t help it. All her life she was an outcast, even among outcasts. A dark and gloomy presence in the shadows, feared by her peers while never belonging to the group in the first place, only ever loved by the members of her family.
And here is this wonderful girl that managed to capture (and possibly even add some color to) her pitch-black heart telling her that she loves her.
“Because you are the most amazing person to ever walk the surface of this earth or any other Earth-like planet...” Enid responds, her heart silently crying as she sees the self-loathing in her roommates' eyes. “Because you are strong, beautiful and in your own unique way managed to make me feel safer and more at home when being with you than anyone had ever made me feel before in my life…” And she keeps going, listing all the things she loves about Wednesday. “But mostly, my love, because you are you…” she whispers now, both her hands holding Wednesdays, her lips only inches away.
“I was so scared when I found you…” Wednesday shivers as she thinks back to the moment she realized what her roommate had done “I was so, SO scared I was too late…” she lets her forehead rest against Enid’s “But most of all…” she shivers, thinking back to how she felt when for those terrible seconds she couldn’t find a pulse and thought Enid was forever gone. “Most of all I was afraid I would never get the chance to tell you that I love you and-“ her sentence is cut off as Enids' lips softly press against hers. She can’t describe what they taste like… It tastes like something new, wild and adventurous but at the same time her lips taste like she’d known them all her life.
For both of them, it feels like time just stopped. Or maybe several hours passed. Or maybe even an entire day. They both open their eyes at the same time “I love you, Mi Amor…” Wednesday whispers, once again resting her forehead against Enids.
“I love you too, my beautiful queen of darkness” Enid responds, looking her in the eyes with that look so full of love Wednesday feels like it engulfs her like a blanket. And it is at that moment that she knows. She doesn’t know why. But she knows.
She knows that love is a feeling worth living for.

Chapter Text
“Excuse me ladies,” the sheriff says as he slowly opens the door “but both the doctors are here as requested?” Wednesday smiles, she didn’t even notice the sheriff stepped outside but is grateful that he did. Without thinking she takes hold of one of Enid's hands as both doctors come in.
“Miss Addams?” the older doctor accompanying the Grim Reaper (she has to admit it, G. Reaper is a funny and ironic name for a doctor) “I’ve been told you wanted to speak with us?”
“Well yes…” she says, feeling nervous all of a sudden, what if they say no? “I’d like to request that I and Enid can share a room for the remainder of our stay here..” She can’t help but notice how Enid looks at her with a look both filled with surprise and happiness. The doctors ask her if that’s what Enid wants as well, and Wednesday feels absolutely enamored when she sees how eager Enid tells the doctors that she’d have it no other way. Hell, if Enid would have a tail, Wednesday’s sure she’d be wagging it right now.
“Well, we’d have to get consent from both of your parents of course, but asides from that I don’t see any problem.” The older doctor says, causing both girls to freeze up and look at him in shock. Wednesday’s parents will give consent in a heartbeat, but Enid her parents…
The sheriff pulls both doctors outside for a second and explains the situation to him, while Wednesday wraps her arms around Enid as the blonde buries her head in her neck.
“Even now they control my life…” Enid quietly sobs, while Wednesday softly strokes her back, as she realizes that Enid has no clue about the raid yet. As she softly tells Enid what the sheriff told her earlier, leaving out the more gory details, she feels Enid slowly relax. “But then where will I go” the blonde whispers “Where will I go over the breaks? Who will pay for school? What’s going to happen to my stuff?”
“Yes mister Galvin, I understand it’s a difficult situation” Wednesday hears as her doctor raises his voice “but the fact is that I can’t let my patient share a room with a patient that’s on suicide watch without consent from both their parents.”
“Actually doctor, you can.” the voice of Gomez Addams fills the room as he walks up to the door and hands both the doctors and the sheriff a stack of official-looking papers. Both Enid and Wednesday don’t know what exactly is going on, but if the smile on the face of the sheriff is any indicator, her father just saved the day.
After the doctor gave them permission to share a room he quickly walks away, followed by doctor Reaper after telling Enid she’ll be back in half an hour to check her wounds.
As she walks out, Morticia Addams walks into the room holding several bags. She whispers something in her husband's ear, to which he shakes his head.
“I thought both of you girls might need some stuff,” Morticia says, motioning to the bags she brought in “and also that you might be hungry… Enid dear, I hope you like sushi?” Enid looks at Wednesday, not sure what to say as all her family ever ate was meat, meat, and more meat.
“Enid never tried sushi before mother,” Wednesday says while softly squeezing Enid’s hand “her… pack prefers big pieces of meat. Preferably half raw.”
Her mother smiles softly at Enid, as she starts to unpack what looks like half a sushi-place as she says she also brought some teppanyaki plates, in case Enid prefers meat.
“I’ll be back later…” the sheriff says, but before he can get out the door he’s stopped by Gomez, who asks him to stay and eat with them. Wednesday holds her breath, given in her family asking someone you’ve been on bad terms with to share a meal with you is about the biggest gesture of burying the hatchet there is. Much to her relief, the sheriff nods and says he’ll look for another chair.
“Enid…” Morticia starts, looking at the blonde girl holding hands with her daughter. Her mother’s heart breaks as she sees how the girls' eyes dart between her and Gomez, looking like she’s waiting to be scolded for something she presumably did wrong. Gomez told her about his conversation with Wednesday, of course, and she already vowed to welcome this girl into their family. Right now she swears by everything she loves, to do everything she can to make sure this girl will not only feel welcome but actually do whatever lies within her power to make Enid feel safe and loved.
“Enid, you should know Wednesday showed us the letter..." Gomez says, looking at the girl he knows is going to be his daughter-in-law. His heart slowly crumbles, as Enid seems to be unable to look anywhere but the ground. He heard Wednesday talk about this girl for hours over her extended break and it pains his heart how this girl that’s so horrendously cheerful had to endure such hardships. Sure, his family loves torture, but what her family put Enid through is so despicable it would make even the strongest Addams feel sick.
“What they are trying to say, mon rayon de lune aimant, is that because of how the Addams's way of love works, as well as imprinting, they already consider you family…” She looks Enid in the eyes, and a mixture of rage, sadness, and love fills her heart as she sees the look in those blue orbs. Enid’s eyes are filled with a mixture of fear, and a sliver of hope but mostly sadness. For what must be the thousandth time, Wednesday silently curses the people who exposed her little Enid to such pain and tragedy.
“I don’t want to impose,” the sheriff says as he walks in with a foldable chair “but maybe it’s an idea to start from the beginning?” He looks around the room, and everyone nods.
The sheriff starts talking, about how he received the call about an attempted suicide at Nevermore. How the headmistress read Enid's letter, and then passed it to him. How he immediately contacted the authorities in San Fransisco to organize a raid of the Sinclair property, but also made absolutely sure Enid’s parents weren’t notified.
“How your mother ended up here today, I don’t know...” he says as he shakes his head “But we knew she was absent when the raid happened, so we put security measures in place…” Enid nods, waiting for the sheriff to continue, and maybe hurry up… she hadn’t eaten in more than 36 hours, and whatever is in those boxes smells delicious…
Wednesday notices the look in her roommates' -she definitely isn't ready yet to call Enid her girlfriend- eyes and while she tells the sheriff to keep going, she gets up and assembles a plate of her personal favorites. She doesn’t know what Enid might like, so she hopes that their tastes in sushi align. This would be a miracle, because when it comes to romantic partners they have completely opposite tastes…
While she adds some teppanyaki as well she realizes Enid probably has no clue how to eat with chopsticks. Luckily, her mother must have foreseen this problem, as she finds several plastic forks in the bag. She sends a thankful nod her mother's way, who just winks back.
“Eat something while you listen, mein lieber kleiner Schmetterling” she says while she puts the plate on Enid’s lap, which earns her a loving thankful look and a kiss on the cheek, which she really hopes doesn’t make her blush.
While Enid starts eating, the sheriff keeps explaining what happened during the raid. Wednesday can feel how Enid tenses up as she hears that her uncle got killed. “So he’s death…” she mutters looking at the piece of sushi on her fork. Wednesday exchanges a look with her mother, who nods back. They’ll definitely have a family séance, asking every Addams family member that ever lived and died to make this man’s existence in the afterlife as unpleasant as possible. Enid notices the exchange but decides that now is not the time to ask. But she has a feeling her uncle didn’t escape his justice just by dying, which gives her an unexpected feeling of satisfaction.
“Now to the part that you just saw happening” Gomez takes over while handing the sheriff a plate which the man happily accepts “I may have called some judges that I know…”
He looks at Enid and waits until the girl is done chewing before he tells her that -unless she objects- he and Morticia will be her legal guardians until she becomes of age. He also tells her that as they speak, the family butler together with some San Francisco-based relatives are making sure every last thing she owns is gathered and brought back to Addams manor.
Enid looks at the couple in front of her feeling completely confused. For some reason, she doesn’t understand anything the Addams patriarch just told her. That is until Wednesday softly squeezes her hand to get her attention.
“What my father is saying, my love, is that our home will be your home until you are of legal age. But I personally hope you will continue to consider my home, my family, and everything that comes with it as your own until the-“ again her sentence is cut off by Enid’s lips. And while normally the idea of any PDA in front of anyone would have caused her to want to scrape the flesh off of her bones using hot irons, now she finds -much to her surprise- that she doesn’t care at all.
So what if anyone can see her kiss the beautiful girl that she loves? They better see it, so all of them can see that Enid is hers, and only hers.

Morticia coughed softly, announcing to the two girls that they weren’t alone. Both blushing (Enid looking beet-red and Wednesday looking slightly less pale than usual) they pulled away from each other. “But seriously?” Enid asked, looking at the couple sitting in front of her “You guys don’t know me but you will take me in, provide for me and be my legal guardians?” she asks, to her surprise receiving a calm and sincere nod from Morticia, while her husband nods so enthusiastically that she’s afraid his head might become unhinged.
“Why? Why for f*cks sake would you do all that for me?” she asks, feeling confused. And scared. What is hiding behind this generosity? What will they want from her in return?
“Why would anyone do this for me? Who am I? What do I have to offer?” she’s almost yelling now and she doesn’t notice it. She doesn’t notice how tears stream across her face, or how everyone in the room looks at her worryingly. “I’m not special? I’m not even normal! So why in the name of-”
“Because our daughter loves you” Morticia calmly states “and within our family, that means a lot..”
Enid is nothing short of speechless. Of course she knows Wednesday loves her. Well, she knows for a fact she loves Wednesday. She still can't bring herself to truly believe that someone as amazing as Wednesday could ever love someone like her. “But still… Why go through all this trouble for me?” she asks, still finding it hard to believe…
“Like I can understand that being the loved one of a family-member means something in your family” Enid says “but aren’t you guys like… I don’t know… massively disappointed with Wednesday?”
To her surprise, no one in the room seems to understand her. “I mean, you guys literally send her to a school FULL of outcasts. All of them are special, unique and wonderful people. And who does she fall in love with? Her weak-ass, ugly, awkward, rambling roommate that isn’t even capable of wolfing out unless there’s some undead racist roaming around…”
She slumps down, feeling deflated. Why is she like this? Wednesdays parents wanted to take her in. But no, she has to go on and point out every single negative thing there is about herself.
All of a sudden Wednesday is standing in front of her, holding her face with two hands, almost forcing her to look her in the eyes.
“Enid Sinclair. Don’t you DARE think of yourself like that.” Wednesday says in a stern voice, silent tears streaming across her cheeks “You are definitely not weak. You’re gorgeous…” Her thumbs start wiping away Enid’s tears as she continues listing all the things she loves about the blonde girl. She talks about how Enid’s smile lights up her day, how Enid’s voice reminds her of all things enjoyable.... She talks and talks until she’s interrupted by a sound that Enid can only describe as a trumpeting elephant with a cold.
“That was so beautiful…” Gomez says, his face buried in a big handkerchief…
“Father, please at least try to maintain some composure.” Wednesday says without taking her eyes off Enid. “Mein süßer, kleiner, bunter Regenbogen” Wednesday says her black eyes drilling themselves into Enid her blue ones “I love you with all my heart… And there is only one thing I’d change about you, and that’s the way you view yourself.”
The last part is almost whispered, before she presses a soft kiss on Enid’s forehead.

Chapter Text
“Excuse me everyone” a new doctor says as she walks in once everything has calmed down “but I really need to have a talk with Enid. And miss Addams, you should return to your room because your doctor wants to see you as well.” The girls let go of each other but don’t move. “Don’t worry my dear” Wednesday says while lifting her hand and softly caressing Enid’s cheek “I’ll be back as soon as the psychiatrist is done…”
Back in her room -which she really hopes she’ll share with Enid soon- Wednesday waits for the doctor. She waits five minutes. Ten minutes. When fifteen minutes have passed by, she’s had enough of it. She gets off the bed and walks out the door and asks the first nurse she sees when her doctor will come to see her. To her surprise, she gets the answer that her doctor got off a 24hr shift shortly after the whole arrest-thing happened and won’t be back until tomorrow afternoon.
“I guess there must’ve been a mistake then…” Wednesday says, silently cursing the psychiatrist for making such a dumb mistake. Her parents went out to make some arrangements for fall-break which is in less than a week. She’s pretty sure that she won’t be able to recognize her room when she gets back. Her parents already told her they were going to expand the room to the point that it would basically take up half of the tower that it’s in. She and Enid will both be having their own bedroom, but there will also be a bedroom with two beds. Plus a study for schoolwork and her writing-time. plus a bathroom. Plus a kitchen. So basically they’re going to make her room into an apartment.
Even though Wednesday doesn’t like change, she isn’t really worried about the expansion of her room. She is however slightly worried by the amount of color her parents will introduce in their attempt to make Enid feel at home. Okay, truth be told she is kind of terrified about it because she wouldn’t put it past her mother to have the entire mansion repainted.
She can’t help but feel surprised as she realizes that she wouldn’t even mind it as much as she thought. If Enid wants their room to be entirely colored in pink, she’ll happily take a paintbrush and start painting. But she knows that Enid would never ask that from her. All of a sudden, an idea forms itself somewhere in the back of her head. An idea so un-Wednesday-like, it’s horrendous and hilarious at the same time. She looks for her phone and calls her mother, who is very much surprised about the request, but promises to make all the necessary arrangements.
There’s a soft knock on the door, and much to her surprise the headmistress walks into her room.
“Mrs. Törni, I did not expect to see you…” she says, both worried and surprised that the head of the school is standing in her hospital room. The woman smiles at her, explaining that at the other boarding schools she worked at as a headmistress, she always visited every student that was in the hospital, especially if they went from campus of a school activity straight to the hospital.
“Unfortunately” she says, a sad expression coming over her face “in most situations like what Enid did, all help comes too late…” She seems to stare off in the distance for a minute before she shakes her head to snap herself out of it.
“Enid is very lucky you were there… but there is a slight issue I want to discuss with you.” Wednesday nods, nervous about what Mrs. Törni might want to discuss with her.
“As you know Wednesday, boys are not allowed in the girl dorms and the other way around, especially after hall-curfew…” She nods, although she must admit she has no idea where this conversation is going. “I think it’s pretty obvious why we have this rule, right?” Wednesday nods again, although she overheard plenty of conversations to know that this rule is barely enforced, plus there are more than enough secluded places at Nevermore.
“That leaves me with a slight problem” she says, looking a bit uncomfortable “given Enid imprinted on you and you basically did the Addams-equivalent of imprinting on her…”
Okay. Wednesday starts to see where this conversation is going. And she doesn’t like it one bit.
“No way you are splitting the two of us up.” She tells the headmistress “Especially not after what we’re going through.” Much to her surprise, Mrs. Törni nods, explaining to her that she has no intention of splitting her and Enid up. But the fact remains that she considers it unfair to other students. “Mostly, I’m afraid other students might see it as favoritism” she explains (as if Wednesday would give a damn) calmly “because why are the two of you permitted to share the same room while you are dating, while they can’t even have a romantic movie-night with their boy- or girlfriend?”
“Because there’s absolutely no chance of me getting Enid pregnant, or vice versa.” She blurts it out before she’s even aware, but she also knows she kind of has a point. Much to her surprise she realizes that the headmistress is actually considering this explanation.
“Maybe not the smartest way to explain it to the other students, but a very good point indeed my dear!” her mother’s voice comes from the doorway.
“Hello Agafia” she says, greeting Mrs. Törni “How’s Lasse?” apparently her mother and the new headmistress know each other, although Wednesday doesn’t know why that surprises her. Mrs. Törni stands up, announcing they’ll talk about this issue later, but Morticia says she simply came by to bring Wednesday something she asked for and invites her to go and have coffee with her, so they can catch up. Before they leave, she hands Wednesday a small black handbag.
Wednesday opens it and almost feels her stomach turn as she sees the colored nail polish that’s in the bag. Thank Beelzebub her mother mostly followed her instructions though. She takes out the bottles she asked for first. Pitch-black, dark-red with a hint of pink, and the third one is the kind of bright orange that she would've probably used for self-torture before she met -and fell in love with- a certain blonde and colorful werewolf.
She braces herself as she takes out the ones her mother got extra for her, but is happily surprised. One is pitch-black but has some sort of color-neutral glitter in it, while the other one is the most flashy shade of pink in existence but with black glitter mixed through it. She has to admit, her mother might have stuck the nail on its head with these two colors.
Then she notices something moving in another compartment which she eagerly opens.
“Thing, you have no idea how happy I am to see you…” she says to the hand, that rapidly starts signing to her about everything he heard about Enid, her, and most important about Enid and her.
She holds up her hand, stopping the signing for now.
“Thing, I need a favor” she says “I need you to give me a crash course on how Enid does her nails, especially the figures.”

Chapter Text
About half an hour later, Wednesday has a pretty good idea of how she’s to do Enid’s nails, and she’s also finished doing her own. She of course made them pitch-black but used the colors to make small heart-figures on them. And on both her thumbs she put the letter E, together with a small heart.
Just when her nails are dry and she put on some black gloves to keep them hidden from Enid, the sheriff knocks on her door. After him being startled by Thing, introducing himself and shaking hands/fingers with the hand, he starts taking Wednesday’s statement on the arrest, as well as on when she found Enid. All of a sudden something that kept on the edge of her mind jumps forward. How come Enid’s cuts didn’t heal? She is a lycanthrope after all, so the advanced healing should’ve kicked in, but it clearly didn’t.
She knows there’s only one explanation for that. Enid must’ve used a silver knife. But Wednesday knows Enid doesn’t own anything silver. But Wednesday does. She owns several silver knives, and three of them she took with her to Nevermore. One of those is on her person at all times. The other two are hidden around her part of their shared room. What if Enid found one of her knives and used it to… to try and kill herself?
“What did she use?” she asks the sheriff, terrified of the answer. She knows she’ll forever feel guilty if Enid used one of her knives. But much to her relief, the sheriff sends her a calming look as he explains they found a ticket from the Jericho Pawn Shop in the room from earlier that day. Apparently, Enid bought a heavily decorated silver knife. She releases the breath she didn’t even realize she was holding, as a huge wave of relief washes over her.
“There is something you should know, Wednesday.” The sheriff says, with a face that’s all of a sudden way more serious than she’d like. “We found out how Esther Sinclair knew what happened and why she came to the hospital…” she nods, although she already knows by Donavan’s demeanor that she’s not going to like what’s coming one bit.
“She got a call from an extended family member at Nevermore that Enid tried to kill herself…” he explains, almost causing Wednesday’s mouth to fall open in surprise. Almost. “We’re still in the process of investigating who it might’ve been…” he tells as Wednesday racks her brain for information. At none of the family-days she saw any members of the Sinclair-family interact with any student besides Enid.
“But why did she come here?” she asks “I mean, she must’ve realized that Enid would expose her in her letter…” but sheriff Galpin is already shaking his head “She wasn’t aware Enid wrote a suicide-letter. We kept that very silent.” He sighs, knowing that what he’s going to say next will probably push Wednesday Addams to the edge of murderous rage. “Wednesday, she came here to kill her.”
It takes Wednesday about fifteen minutes to calm down, although she really regrets not putting a bullet between this bitch her eyes when she had the chance. Unfortunately, the sheriff also refused her request to be alone with Esther Sinclair for any amount of time. Hell, he even made clear he wouldn’t allow Wednesday to be in the same room. His refusal only angered her more, until he pointed out that if she would harm someone in his custody he’d have to arrest her. And Enid needs her close to her, not in juvi or ail. That managed to calm her down pretty quickly.
“Does Enid know?” she asks, hoping she wouldn’t have to hide it from her. “Yes” she gets as an answer “the psychiatrist told her.”
He thanks her for the sushi her parents brought, and is pretty surprised as she explains the significance of this shared meal to him. He thanks her, and asks her to pass along his gratitude to her parents as well. She nods in agreement as a nurse comes in to take her to Enid’s room.
After signing a paper where she acknowledges she’s been informed the room is under video-surveillance and consents to being filmed and watched on a live CCTV screen she’s led to the room. Before she’s even through the door, she’s almost thrown to the floor by Enid running at her and hugging her like crazy.
“I'm sorry” the blonde girl whispers in her ear “I’m sorry I’m such a mess…”
Instinctively, Wednesday wraps her arms around the girl, giving her a kiss on her cheek while she assures Enid everything is going to be okay. This calms Enid down a bit, but not more than that. “And even if you are currently a mess…” Wednesday says looking Enid straight in the eyes “Know that you are MY mess.” She whispers, giving Enid a soft kiss on the lips. To her joy and surprise, as she pulls away Enid comes in for another kiss. And another one. And another one. Until they get interrupted by Thing moving around in the handbag.
Wednesday smiles brightly as she lets him out, knowing how fond Enid is of Thing. The blonde squeals in delight as he crawls up her arm toward her shoulder. They immediately start a conversation, while Wednesday goes to make her bed. From what she overhears, Thing really tries to stay away from Enid her attempt on her own life, or why her mother was here this morning.
She gives them a while to talk, while she helps herself to some of the sushi left behind. There is way more than the two of them will eat for lunch. And knowing her parents they’re probably going to bring food for dinner as well.
“Babe? You want some more sushi?” she asks, as she put her favorites on a plate. Enid replies, saying she already ate plenty during the talk with the shrink and she’s stuffed. Wednesday nods and looks over to what’s still left. At least more than a hundred pieces of sushi are left in unopened boxes, plus about fifty in the opened boxes, as well as some of the side-dishes. All in all way more than would even fit in their trashcan. She shakes her head, of course her mother went overboard. She almost always does.
For a second she tenses up as she feels how Enid wraps her arms around her waist “I have an idea what we could do with all of it?” she says, pulling Wednesday close to her. It still surprises Wednesday how she, who despised human touch for almost all of her life, seems to crave the sensation of Enid’s touch. “How about we call in a nurse, and ask them to put all the leftovers in their breakroom and say they can have it for dinner?” Enid proposes. She’s slightly surprised, as she herself would’ve never come up with the idea. But of course Enid does, as she always seems to think about others. Wednesday nods, as she presses the call-button.
It took three nurses to take all of the food out. Three. But they seemed to be pretty ecstatic that instead of whatever they brought from home, they would be able to eat sushi during their dinner break. Enid smiles at Wednesday, as she takes a hold of her hand and pulls her closer “Now tell me, my calon bach, doesn’t it feel good making people happy?”
Wednesday shrugs, making a mental note to look up what that name means. “Enid my dear, the only person in the universe I want to make happy is you” she says, putting a strand of hair behind Enid’s ear causing the blonde to blush “but as making other people -even strangers- happy is one of the things that makes you happy…” she can’t believe she’s about to say what she’s about to say “Because it makes you happy, it makes me happy. So I’ll try my very best to think about how I can make people happy.” Enid smiles so wide at the words, it lights up the room. God, how she loves that smile.
“By the way Enid” she says, taking a hold of Enid's hands “I have a surprise for you… but you have to trust me, okay?” Enid looks at her with a hint of nervousness in her eyes, telling her she trusts her with her life. “Don’t worry babe, all I’m going to do is paint your nails… but I want you to close your eyes while I do it, and don’t peek.”
Enid squeals. She’s been trying to get Wednesday to paint her nails for months now, and now the girl comes up with it on her own? Damn, she must really love her…
“Can I do your nails afterward?” she asks hopefully, and as Wednesday shakes her head, she pouts a little. “Some other time, mon petit chiot lunaire…” she says, caressing Enid’s cheek “I’ve already done mine, and they’re part of the surprise…”
Enid lights up again “so that’s why you all of a sudden wear those gloves…” she squeals “Okay, I won’t peak!”
Wednesday sits Enid down on the bed and gets the nail polish out. Thing seems really eager to help, but she shakes her head at him. This moment is hers and Enid’s. She starts with applying the colors, using the same order as she did on her nails with the figures. Then she uses the glittery black to make the exact same figures as she did on her own nails, but instead of an E, she puts a W on her thumbs.
“It’s quick-drying” she says as she takes of her gloves and puts everything away “so five more minutes and you can look.”
Five minutes later, she tells Enid to open her eyes while hiding her own hands behind her back. She gave her phone to Thing, who is discretely filming the entire thing. She has a feeling that she’s going to want to revisit this moment in the future. Enid gasps as she looks at what Wednesday did with her nails, a loving smile forming as she notices the double-u’s on her thumbs.
“Now let me see the big secret you did with your nails!” she begs, unable to hide her excitement.
Slowly Wednesday takes her hands from behind her back, and as soon as Enid sees her nails she’s met with the most excited squeal she thinks anyone can make. She looks Enid in the eyes, where she can see tears forming. “What’s wrong?” she asks worryingly “You don’t like it?”
“Wednesday, sshhsshh” Enid responds, looking at both their nails in awe. The matching color patterns, the perfectly drawn hearts, the elegantly drawn letters, … everything is so… so perfect. And it's so Wednesday while being natural to her as well.
On a whim she throws her arms around Wednesday’s neck, pressing their lips together. ‘Gosh, kissing Wednesday is definitely addictive’ a part of her brain thinks. “Wednesday… It’s perfect…” she whispers against the goth’s lips “It’s just perfect. It’s you, and it’s me. It’s like the perfect symbolization of our re… of us” Damn, she almost said relationship…
“It’s okay my love” Wednesday whispers back, lovingly gazing into the blonde's eyes “you can say it…”
For a second Enid is confused. What is Wednesday referring to?
“I made this so people can see that you are mine…” she briefly pauses, as she can see the hope and confusion in the eyes of the girl she loves “And that I am yours…” Again she pauses, now to gather the courage to ask a question she swore as a five-year-old she’d never ask anyone.
“Enid Sinclair” she whispers so soft it’s barely audible “would you do me the honor and pleasure of becoming my girlfriend?”

calon bach: Welsh term of endearment that loosely translates to “little heart”. Why Welsh? Because Enid is a name with Welsh origin, and with Wednesday being multilingual, I wanted Enid to at least speak some other languages/English dialects…

Chapter Text
Enid stood there. Speechless. Her mouth hung open, a look in her eyes like the lights were on but no one was home at the moment. She seemed to be completely shocked by Wednesday’s question. Part of Wednesday wanted to snap Enid out of it, but a little voice in the back of her head told her to just let her be for now and let her come out of it on her own. So there she stood, looking into those amazing blue eyes while their lips were not even an inch apart.
Without a warning Enid lunges forward and captures Wednesday’s lips with her own, catching the goth by surprise. “Yes” she whispers after kissing Wednesday’s lips, whereafter she continues to give kisses all over her face, repeating the word after every kiss. Enid ends with one very long, soft and passionate kiss on Wednesday’s lips which she eagerly returns.
Then they just stand there. Staring each other in the eyes. And both of them think the same thing… How beautiful those eyes are.
“Can I ask you something, ma belle reine des arcs-en-ciel?” Wednesday asks, when later that evening they’re laying cuddled up on her bed “Of course fy nghalon fach o dywyllwch” she says as her eyes shine with amusement at the look on Wednesday’s face as she has no idea what it means.
“Could we wait with… you know… Going public?” the goth asks the blonde. If Enid wants it, she’ll walk back into Nevermore holding hands, and kissing her for everyone to see. But she’d actually prefer that over their relationship becoming public through Enid’s blog.
“You don’t want our friends to see that we’re dating?” Enid asks, slightly pushing herself up as she looks down at Wednesday who shakes her head. “It’s not that babe, you know what a private person I am…” she whispers, afraid she has hurt Enids' feelings by asking to not immediately go public. “I just don’t want them to find out through their phones or PCs…” she whispers, pressing her face in the crook of Enid’s neck. A place that’s quickly becoming her favorite place to be in the world. It’s a place where she feels safer than she has ever felt…
Enid slowly nods, pressing a kiss on Wednesday her forehead. Earlier that evening they were told that they would be allowed to leave the hospital tomorrow after breakfast. After consulting with a doctor that specializes in lycanthropic emergency-care the doctors were able to reactivate her enhanced healing. And given that the day after tomorrow their break starts, they asked Mrs. Törni to be allowed to come back to Nevermore, instead of going straight to Addams Manor.
As soon as she approved it, Wednesday called her mother to take care of their dorm. She didn’t want Enid to be confronted with one speck of blood when they come back. And knowing her mother, the room will be crispy-clean…
They also spoke with both the sheriff and Mrs. Törni about what they would tell the other students had happened. Apparently, someone started a rumor Wednesday had tried to kill Enid, which horrified Enid but amused Wednesday to the point that one of the corners of her mouth quivered upwards for a few seconds. The school started an investigation, but so far that had turned up nothing. After consulting with Wednesday’s parents it was decided that it would be up to Enid who she told, although everyone knew the rumor mill would then get the story around the school within hours.
Much to her surprise, the conversation had ended with the sheriff inviting Enid, Wednesday and her parents over for lunch or dinner at his house for the day after tomorrow. She wishes she had taken a picture of the looks on the faces of her parents. It was one of utter surprise and confusion. However, the sheriff explained that Wednesday had told him about the significance of her parents inviting him to eat with them and that he’d like to return the favor. Her parents accepted the offer, and her father surprised all of them by getting up and giving the sheriff a hug. Yeah… Her father and his emotions…
“How about this?” Enid interrupts her thoughts “We tell the people that matter. Yoko, Bianca, Ajax, Xavier, Eugene, … They have a right to know.” For a second Wednesday thinks about the idea before she nods. she pulls Enid closer, resting her head on the blonde girl's shoulder.
“I’m scared Enid” she whispers “I’m scared of how they will look at you… especially after hearing what you tried to do, and then the news you’re dating me…” she shudders. Of course, she’s not afraid for herself. Anyone that will come at her and accuses her of trying to kill Enid or taking advantage of her will find themselves hanging upside down just out of reach of the carnivorous plants in the greenhouse.
“My love” Enid says as she wraps her arms tighter around Wednesday “some of them will talk. Or look. But you know what? I don’t care.” She places a kiss on top of Wednesday her head, causing the goth to sigh in contentment “I did something dumb, yes. And I would reverse it if I could.” she places another kiss on her head while breathing in the goths scent “But it did lead us here. And that’s all I care about…”
Wednesday shifts a bit, so she can look Enid in her eyes “Although I love where it lead us, mon chiot de la lune, I want you to swear on my life, love and future you’ll never do it again.”
Enid sighs, a smile forming on her face “That’s why I love you babe” she says, giving a playful kiss on the tip of Wednesday’s nose “most people would tell me to swear on my life, or on everything holy, or something else like that…” she looks Wednesday in the eyes, as she thinks about how to formulate the next thing she wants to say.
“But you? You make me swear on the three things in the entire universe that matter the most to me. You. Your love. And our future together.” She leans in to give Wednesday a kiss on her lips, which the goth gladly accepts.
“I still didn’t hear it though?” Wednesday says “And I mean it Enid… I never ever do that to me again…” tears are forming in the corners of her black eyes, as the memories of finding Enid start to fill her mind again.
“Wednesday?” Enid says worryingly, as she saw how panic seemed to take over those beautiful black eyes. “It’s okay my love, I’m right here…”
Wednesday nods, putting her head on Enids' chest as slowly her breathing calms down again while she hears how Enid swears that she’ll never do anything like that again.
“I love you Enid” she whispers, pulling the covers down to get to her own bed “But we should go to sleep… It’s going to be an intense day tomorrow” Much to her surprise, Enid doesn’t let go of her, but keeps a tight hold on her.
When she looks at her girlfriend, her heart almost breaks as she sees the pleading look in her eyes as Enid asks her to stay with her. Wednesday turns around, pulls the covers back up and kisses her girlfriend while wishing her a good night. It doesn’t take long for both of them to fall asleep in each other’s arms.

Chapter 19: These clothes... they're perfect!
Chapter Text
Wednesday wished she knew why she felt so… happy. Even more so, she wondered why this feeling of happiness didn’t bother her at all. She woke up mere minutes ago, being spooned by her room- girlfriend who was still softly snoring in her ear… She didn’t know if Enid was aware she snored, but she hoped that the blonde girl wasn’t, or if she was Wednesday really hoped she didn’t care. Because the soft sound of Enid snoring in her ear was just the perfect volume and just the right amount of irritating to be the most effective lullaby ever…
She looked at the clock, seeing they had about 45 minutes until breakfast would be served. She knew the other patients would probably be jealous of them, because while all of them would get the hospital-issued breakfast (which looked like it had already been eaten twice), Enid and herself would be getting a delivery of the entire breakfast-platter deluxe from the Weathervane. And given they had offered the nurses an outrageous amount of sushi yesterday (which apparently they were barely able to finish) the staff was more than happy to allow them to have their breakfast delivered by courier.
She quietly turned around until she was facing Enid. Dear Beelzebub, the girl was so beautiful when she slept… She gently caressed the girl's cheek “Hey there beautiful” she whispered “time to wake up…” Enid’s eyes slowly fluttered open and for a second, all Wednesday could see in those pools of blue was panic and fear… It only lasted a couple of seconds, but in those seconds she could feel how Enids' entire body got tense, how her heartrate sped up and how her breathing got fast and shallow. She could also feel her own heart break in countless little pieces, as she realized that her girlfriend probably had the worst kind of nightmarish experiences with being woken up by a person laying next to her.
“Hey beautiful…” Enid whispered, hoping Wednesday didn’t see the flash of panic and fear that only seconds ago sheared through her body. But the sad and worried look in the ravenette’s eyes told her that she did…
“I’m sorry…” Enid started, but Wednesday was quick to put a finger to her lips before she started speaking herself.
“Enid, if anyone has to be sorry it’s me” she whispered “I should’ve realized that waking you up like that wasn’t –“ but Enid cut her off by kissing her. Wednesday made a mental note to work on Enid’s ability to shut her up by kissing her. “Do you want to… you know… talk about it?” Wednesday asked after Enid pulled her own lips away from hers. Enid shook her head while explaining that she wanted to talk about it, but not now “Maybe when we’re at your place…” she said before Wednesday corrected her that it was their place. She gave the blond another kiss, on the tip of her nose this time, before telling her they needed to get dressed before breakfast got there because after breakfast Mrs. Törni would arrive to take them back to Nevermore.
For a second, Enid was looking confused. Getting dressed? All she had were her blood-stained clothes, and she really didn’t want to wear those… Before she could get too worried though, Wednesday pointed to the fairly large shopping bags her mother left there yesterday when she came to bring lunch. They both completely forgot about them. Not too surprising, given they were both too preoccupied with each other…
“Holy crap on a cracker!” Enid yelled out as she laid out the clothes Morticia bought for her.
“What’s wrong my love?” Wednesday asked, going through the smaller back her mom brought her “Nothing in there you like?”
Enid looked over at Wednesday, not sure how to say this. Not only had Wednesday her mother brought her two large shopping bags filled with clothes, make-up, nail polish and even more clothes, everything clearly came from high-end shops!
“Babe, this coat probably is worth more than my entire wardrobe combined!” she said, holding up a long trench coat. It was made in pastel colors, with black lining on the sleeves and a black belt, while on the back there was a fairly realistic picture of a dragon. The dragon surprised her the most, as it was a mixture of black and her favorite shades of pink and red… The black parts had black stones on them, making it look like it was… like it was the personification of her and Wednesday.
“How did your mother know to get all of this?” she asked, as all the clothes in front of her were clearly Addams-styled, but at the same time colorful.
“I may or may not have told them about you during break…” Wednesday said, knowing she was making a huge understatement. She had talked about Enid every single day, to the point her brother even started making fun of her for her ‘girl-crush’. Something he quickly regretted as she not only had put her favorite boa constrictor in his bed as he slept, but she also took the fuses from all of his grenades.
All of a sudden some pieces clicked together. Her mother seemed nervous during break, or when she first came to see her in the hospital… “That bitch” she muttered, as she realized her mother somewhere during the extended break must have had a vision seeing her and Enid together as a couple. “She also is a seer” she explained as Enid was looking at her with curiosity “she probably had a vision of the two of us dating…” Enid nods, so that was why this coat clearly looked custom-made. Then a realization hits her. If Wednesday’s mother is a seer… “Do you think she saw me… you know… when I tried to…” Wednesday shakes her head, although she isn’t completely sure.
“I hope not, because if she knew and didn’t tell me…” she in- and exhales a few times to calm herself down “If she knew, I’m going to feed her favorite plant hydrogen-chloride.”
Enid smiles. She has so many questions, but none of them seem important right now. “But still Wednesday” she says, looking over the clothes on the bed “all of this is clearly high end… I can’t accept this!” she says, feeling kind of sorry because that coat is definitely perfect… it even looks like it was tailored specially for her…
“My sweet little butterfly…” she says as she wraps her arms around the blonde “You are part of my family now… And spoiler alert, we are pretty rich.” Not that she ever cared about money. Money can’t buy happiness. But it does help. She gives Enid a long hug, nuzzling the blonde's neck. Then she looks at the clock again, seeing they have less than fifteen minutes.
“Okay babe, hurry up and get dressed,” she says kissing Enid behind her ear “breakfast will be here soon.”
They’re just done eating. Enid can’t help but sigh as she looks at Wednesday. Of course, her girlfriend went with a mostly black outfit, but if you look closer you can see that her entire outfit has some amount of color in it. Her black jeans (which Enid can’t deny makes Wednesday her ass look really good) have embraided red roses on both legs, while her long-sleeved black shirt has a skull on the back with red roses for eyes. The masterpiece has to be the coat though, which is the complete opposite of Enid’s coat. It’s mostly black, of course, but the lining and belt are in the same red as the roses and the skull’s eyes. Plus it has the exact same dragon on the back…
Meanwhile, Wednesday can’t help but look at her girlfriend in pure adoration. She must remember to thank her mother, because the clothes she brought for Enid seem to fit the girl like a glove. Even more so, the clothes are the perfect mix between Addams and Enid. It doesn’t cross her mind however that their outfits mirror each other almost perfectly. Of course, she noticed the coats, but what she didn’t realize was that the shirt Enid put on was in the exact same shade of red as the belt on her own coat.
They both look up at the same time, their eyes locked together. “You…” Enid starts, at the same time Wednesday starts to say something. “You look perfect…” the blonde says, closing the distance between them “you look so perfect, I’m afraid I’m dreaming and I’ll wake up soon..”
Chapter 20: Returning to Nevermore
Notes:
As you can see, after this there will be only one more chapter in this part, but no worries!
I'll start a new series about fall-break at the Addams Mansion
(See the end of the chapter for more notes.)
Chapter Text
“I’m afraid I’m dreaming and I’ll wake up soon…”
The words still echoed in Wednesday’s head, as they both lay on her bed in their shared room. Enid was asleep next to her, her head resting on her chest. For what must have been the thousandth time, she looked down at the blonde who was peacefully asleep, laying on her chest like it was the most comfortable pillow in the world.
It hadn’t even been that late, only an hour past their hall-curfew, when they had decided to go to sleep. When Enid walked towards her own bed, without saying anything Wednesday grabbed her hand and pulled her with her to her own bed. Enid didn’t object -why would she- as they were both already in their PJ’s.
It had been both an interesting and intense day, that was for sure.
The ride from the hospital had been spent mostly discussing what had happened the last couple of days. Apparently, all classes had been canceled as the impact on the student-body had been larger than anticipated. Also, Mrs. Törni had decided to appoint her husband, a man called Lauri Törni, as the head of security. For now, he was alone as Nevermore never needed a security-force before, but they would be hiring over fall break. Wednesday was mostly surprised when Enid gasped at the name of Mrs. Törni’s husband however. As Enid enthusiastically told her, Lauri Törni had been a captain in both the Finnish Army as well as the Waffen SS and he also was a member of the US Army during the Vietnam war where he perished. Wednesday couldn’t help but be intrigued as Enid told her that Lauri Törni was the only known member of the Waffen SS to be buried at Arlington National Cemetery.
When she asked Mrs. Törni if her husband was like a distant relative, the woman smiled as she explained that in fact, her husband was one and the same that she had just told Wednesday about. Apparently, their headmistress was born in Finland, and when in college she kind of cheated on most of her papers by holding séances with the people involved. With Lauri though, after summoning him once for a paper, she kept summoning him to talk to him. Quickly, she had fallen in love with his spirit, as well as he had with her. She didn’t exactly know how, but her great-grandmother had been able to put Lauri’s spirit into the body of a young man that looked fairly similar to how he had looked in life and that’s how she became married to Lauri Törni.
When Wednesday had asked Enid how she knew so much about this guy, she was surprised to learn that Enid actually was a metalhead. As it turned out, her girlfriend was a big fan of a Swedish band called ‘Sabaton’ but given she always played it WAY too loud, she had been forbidden at the start of last year to listen to metal in her dorm-room. Wednesday made a mental note to do some research into this band because although she did like metal, her taste was mostly limited to the bands Five Finger Death Punch and Powerwolf.
“What’s so funny my love?” Enid had whispered in her ear, as apparently on of the corners of her mouth had quivered upwards, and together with some other barely noticeable non-verbal signals had told Enid that there was something she found funny. When she told Enid that one of her favorite bands was Powerwolf, Enid laughed so suddenly and loudly Mrs. Törni it caused her to swerve and almost hit another car as she got startled…
Their arrival back at Nevermore had been… fun, in a way?. Not only did Enid’s group of friends swarm them the second they got out of the car, but most of them also didn’t even were surprised when Bianca had matter-of-factly stated that apparently the two of them were dating. Surprisingly, the snappy reaction didn’t come from Wednesday, but it had been Enid who had put the siren in her place. “Well thank you, Bianca, for robbing us of any decision about how or when we want to go public.” She had said, looking the siren straight in the eye.
It had only been then that everyone seemed to start going crazy about it. The reactions ranged from “I knew it, you girls got together over break didn’t you?” and “That’s wonderful… I take it that’s why you wear clothes that are half black and Wednesday wears clothes with color in them?” to “Oh. So you’re a lesbian now?” and “Sure, why wouldn’t you start dating our resident psycho?”
Of course, everyone wanted to hear what had happened, but all Enid had said to that was that she had done something incredibly stupid, which she would reverse if she could and that everyone who struggled with dark thoughts or thoughts of suicide needed to talk to the teacher in charge of their hall. Of course, there had been this one kid who wanted to know if it really was true they had had some kind of murder-suicide-pact, but before he could finish his question he had already been slapped over the head by Bianca who told him to shut that hole in his stupid face. Also, the kid got told to report to Mrs. Törni’s office in half an hour, which made him turn almost as pale as Wednesday her natural color.
After dinner, they’d found themselves in their room together with their- Enid’s friends. Enid had told them the entire story, including what had let her to try and kill herself, as well as what had been happening to her for years. All the while Wednesday had been holding Enid’s hand, as tears streamed over both their faces. When Enid came finished her story by telling them about the raid, everyone was silent and had tears in their eyes. It took everyone a while -and some tea to get back to talking. Yoko immediately offered to let Enid stay at her house for as long as she wanted or needed, to which Enid had replied that it was kind but unnecessary. As Wednesday was explaining the legal arrangements her father had made, everyone was nodding along, saying that it was a good idea, because they clearly made each other happy.
And of course, everyone wanted to hear how they had started dating.
Most of them had seen it coming for a while, the only ones that hadn’t were Eugene (although he explained it himself by telling he obviously was not good at reading girls) and -much to everyone’s surprise- Yoko who had figured out for a while that Enid at least bi, if not gay, but had thought Enid had a crush on her. Everyone laughed at this, besides Wednesday who couldn’t help but feel slightly jealous about it. They started to laugh even harder when Yoko said it was a good thing she had been wrong because she was as straight as an arrow.
So Wednesday explained how scared she had been when she had found Enid, which -aside from a lot of sympathetic looks- earned her a teasing “So you do have feelings…” from Bianca, which had led to Enid throwing a pillow straight into the sirens face while telling her that only she was to tease her girlfriend. After everyone had had a chuckle, they told about Enid’s mother who had come down to the hospital and got arrested by Wednesday, while Enid could hear all of it.
When to the point of telling them how Wednesday had surprised her with the nails, all of them had been looking at her with such intensity, she had hidden her face in the crook of Enid’s neck… Damn, that spot was definitely her favorite hiding spot in the world…
Wednesday sighed, looking at the clock as she inhaled Enid’s scent deeply. Almost seven hours left until they needed to wake up for breakfast. All of a sudden, she realized she hadn’t gone to the toilet since they had left the hospital. She very carefully got out of bed and went into their shared bathroom to use the toilet. And maybe quickly wash, she decided as she smelled her armpit as she got up. Enid had taken a shower before their friends had come to their room, but given Thing really wanted to get a complete rundown of how they had gotten together, she completely forgot to take a shower herself. As she got into the shower, she decided washing her hair could wait until the morning and all she did was a quick wash. Not even ten minutes late she was just about finished drying herself off when an agonizing scream pierced the air.
“No NO NOOOO!!! WEDNESDAAAAAY!!!!” Enid’s terrified voice echoed through the room. Wednesday rushed out of the bathroom towards her girlfriend. What was wrong? Who was there? Who was she going to kill?
Notes:
Yes, I may or may not be a sucker for history-facts, especially when it comes to WWII. And yes, Lauri Törni really existed and everything your read here about him is true (aside from him being reincarnated)
More information about him you can find in this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uz2Am9Ahy14 or in the videos from Sabaton-history

Chapter Text
Wednesday ran out of the bathroom grabbing the first thing that she could use as a lethal weapon that happened to catch her eye. Candleholder in hand, she ran into the room scanning it for danger. “ENID?!” she yelled out in panic. Where was her girlfriend?
All of a sudden she almost got tackled to the ground, as the person rushing at her pinned her against the bathroom door. Her first instinct was to fight, and she was about to choke her attacker to death when she noticed a streak of pink blonde hair. “Enid?” she whispered, putting her hand on the check of the person keeping her pinned against the door. “Enid my love… It’s me!” she whispered, caressing the blonde's cheek.
“I thought… I thought you… you left me…” the blonde says in between sobs “I thought you finally… finally realized I’m not…” Enid's sobs were shaking here body violently, as she held on to Wednesday for dear life. “I thought you finally realized someone as pathetic as me…”
Wednesday wasn’t about to let her girlfriend finish that tirade of self-loathing. She grabbed Enid’s head with both her hands and slammed her lips to Enid’s which such force, the wolf actually stumbled a step back.
It was a strong kiss. It was passionate, full of love and adoration. And Wednesday had a feeling she was about to explode when she felt Enid’s lips part and the tip of her tongue against her lips. Without a second of doubt, her lips parted as their tongues started to dance around each other. She closed her eyes as fireworks started to go off behind them when Enids' hands roamed her back. All of a sudden Enid pulled away, a smile on her face that was powerful enough to light up the entire room, even though it was almost midnight.
“Euuuhm Wednesday…” The wolf said a blush on her cheeks that quickly got darker “Wens… You are kinda… you know…” No. Wednesday did not know. All she knew was that if this was how it felt to kiss Enid, she never ever wanted to stop kissing her! She moved closer to the blonde, who surprised her by taking a step back. “Did I do something wrong?” she whispered, feeling terrified all of a sudden that she might’ve gone too far… “Enid? Are you okay?”
“Wednesday… You are kind of butt-naked!” the blonde blurted out, now as red as an overripe tomato. Startled, the goth looked down to discover that she indeed was as naked as a newborn baby… For a second, she had no clue what to do. Not only was she standing naked in front of her girlfriend, but she had also kissed her like she was possessed by some kind of demon WHILE SHE WAS NAKED. Apparently, the mixture of pure horror, embarrassment and shyness on her face looked funny, because next thing she knew, Enid was almost rolling over the floor with laughter.
It took a couple of minutes for the blonde to calm down, as Wednesday still stood there. As motionless as a statue and mildly horrified.
“Good morning my love” Enid whispered into her ear, pulling her closer against her. For a second, Wednesday felt disoriented before she realized they were laying on Enid’s bed. She turned around, capturing Enid’s lips with hers, slowly deepening the kiss until they were on the verge of full-blown making out. Enid pulled away slowly, slightly short of breath, with a mischievous look in her eyes “What, no more naked making out?” she asked the goth, who immediately hid her face in Enid’s neck as she remembered how she had kissed her girlfriend while wearing nothing more than her skin.
Fortunately, Enid was quick to whisper in her ear that she thought Wednesday had looked absolutely stunning, the way she stood there… Ready to kill to protect Enid, all whilst being butt-naked. “So wait…” Wednesday whispered “You’re saying you… you didn’t mind seeing me like that?”
Enid chuckled, softly explaining that she couldn’t imagine anything more beautiful than her standing there like that… The shadow of a smile swept over the goth's face, as she felt a sense of relief wash over her. Slowly, she got up ever so slightly so she could look her girlfriend in the eyes. Oh how she loved those eyes… that face… those lips…
“Enid, mi adorable unicornio rosa arco iris, if I ever go too fast… you know… with the physical stuff…” Damn, why was this so difficult “If I ever do something you feel like you’re not ready for…”
Enid nodded, putting a finger on the goth her lips “If I ever feel like you’re going too fast my love” she whispered “I’ll tell you…” whereafter she softly pressed her lips onto Wednesday’s again.
Wednesday groaned as this must be her new favorite kind of torture. Enid’s lips on her just felt so… so right that calling it torture seemed to be an abomination. However, the torturous part was the fact that Wednesday wanted to feel those lips all over her body, preferably all the time.
Damn. She really was an Addams.
“This is Lurch, our butler, driver and handyman” Wednesday said as she pointed to the incredibly tall man getting out of the hearse “And yes, he was made by Dr. Frankenstein as well…” Enid extended her hand towards the giant as she greeted him, only to be met with a grumble.
“Ah yes, Lurch doesn’t shake hands.” Morticia’s voice said as she got out of the car “At least, not after he broke several while shaking them…” Enid quickly put her hand back in her pocket, earning something that could be described as a chuckle from Lurch.
“Wednesday my dear earthquake, it’s nice to see you again.” Morticia said looking fondly at her daughter. Enid had been told all about the tension that hung between mother and daughter over breakfast, so she wasn’t too surprised that there was no hugging going on. “Hello mother, you look like the Himalayas today.” Wednesday said, which apparently surprised her mother “That’s so kind of you to say my dear” she said “as in I look breathtakingly beautiful but surprisingly deadly?”
“No mother.” the youngest goth said with a mischievous twinkle in her eyes “As in did you have to wear such a cleavage?”
Enid couldn’t help but chuckle, but it was overpowered by a roaring laugh coming from the hearse as Gomez Addams got out “She’s not wrong my love” he said through his tears “and even though you know how much I adore those magnificent-” Enid looked in fascination at the two who were behaving like horny teenagers as Wednesday told them to at least behave like adults.
“Enid, mi flamante hija de vivos colores, how are you?” he said while enveloping her in a tight hug. “Feeling like I really should study up on some foreign languages, mister Addams!” she said after the Addams patriarch had let go of her, which earned her another fit of roaring laughter. Enid couldn’t help but chuckle. As stoic as Wednesday was, so full of laughter was her father.
"Miércoles, mi pequeño portador de Muerte, it will be so nice to have you home this week!” the man said before turning back towards Enid. “And Enid, I don’t call you Ms. Sinclair, so don’t call me Mr. Addams please” he said while lurch was already putting their luggage in and on top of the car “If you’re not comfortable calling me ‘father’ or ‘dad’ just call me by my name, okay?” he asked, leaving Enid speechless. Something that seemed to happen more and more lately, as she calmly nodded and followed Wednesday into the car.
The drive to Addams Manor was a rather uneventful affair. First, however, they went to the sheriff’s house for lunch. To Enid’s surprise, the man had some serious culinary skills. So much so, that both Gomez and Morticia (she was definitely not ready to think about them as mom ad dad) kept talking about it for the entire ride home.
What did scare Enid, however, was the way Lurch drove. Not only did he barely drive slower than 70 miles an hour, but he also seemed to do so without much difficulty. It did however get them to the Addams manor in less than two hours.
“So here we are my love” Wednesday said as she squeezed Enid’s hand (that she hadn’t let go of since they’d gotten in the car) “Welcome to your new home…”
