    Katsuki takes too long to realise that he cares about Izuku as more than a friend, and by the time he does, it's too late. Izuku has a secret boyfriend and he's happy. Katsuki can't be responsible for taking away any more of his best friend's happiness, not with their history being what it is, so he keeps quiet, even when he accidentally catches Izuku playing hooky from classes to spend time with said secret boyfriend.

    It's not until he hears a conversation he shouldn't between Izuku and Kirishima that Katsuki realises there are people other than Izuku he might have a future with.
