Notes:

100 Ships Prompts Challenge #2 - Snow

Work Text:

When the snow wouldn’t let up and forced them home, Maggie and Jason weren’t sure what to do to keep their three young children occupied. “I’d rather not take them outside while it’s still going,” she told her husband as they looked out one of the windows. The snow was falling pretty steadily at this point.

“Same here but they’ve been bored for a while now,” Jason reminded her.

“We can feed them, I guess?” Maggie turned to face them, clapping her hands. “Who’s hungry? Mommy’s going to cook dinner!” At least they still had power, thank God.

Mike cheered excitedly, Carol only nodded, and Ben toddled after his mother into the kitchen. Jason wrapped his arms around Maggie when she took a break from stirring the sizzling bacon. She leaned against him. “Love you,” she told him.”

“Love you too.”

They fed the kids breakfast for dinner and by the time they were all finished eating, the snow had stopped falling. Maggie and Jason bundled them all up, ignoring their complaints, and then headed outside. “I’m too hot,” Mike complained.

“So am I.”

“Snow!” Ben clapped delightedly and then landed straight on his ass before bouncing right back up. Maggie brushed the snow off his jacket.

She screamed when something wet smacked against her and whirled around to find Jason looked innocent. “Did you just hit me?”

He shook his head, whistling. “Nah, it was the kids.”

Maggie laughed. “Way to throw our children under the bus. Nice of you to not name which one it was specifically.” She packed the wet snow into a ball and threw it straight as Jason, who ducked but still couldn’t miss being hit.

The all out battle between the Seavers continued until dusk, and ended up one of their favorite memories later.
