Chapter Text

Tim was working on a case in the living room when it happened. Jason stormed in and burst into laughter when he saw Tim.

“What’s got you in an unnaturally good mood today?” Tim said, not looking up from his work.

“Oh, just the fact that Twitter is freaking out about you” Jason said.

“WHAT?!” Tim screamed, opening twitter at lightspeed.

“chill replacement. It’s nothing bad”

Then Tim found it.

Runnin up that Hill @AnnabelleHill

Was no one going to tell me that @TimDrakeWayne was fit?????

Gotham’s Bitch @YouKnowMe

You sure we thinking about the same one? @BruceWayne ‘s kid? The nerdy one??????

Runnin up that Hill @AnnabelleHill

He finished the beep test during PE today AND did more pullups and push-ups that anyone INCLUDING THE TEACHER

Why Me??? @RomanieMillward

Nah it was madddd. I don’t think I’ve ever been so impressed, terrified, and confused at the same time.

Tim felt his cheeks go red as he looked back to Jason with wide eyes.

“This is not good!”

“Timmers you are trending~” Jason sung. Tim sunk further into the couch, willing for it to eat him whole.

“I don’t want to be trending!”

“Well if it makes you feel any better, Dickie’s also trending ‘cause of you”

“what? How?”

“Well the police squad in Blüd commented on a tweet saying that Dick was also really fit. Then his gymnastics club that he teaches at posted photos of him on the equipment. That got a stir outa’ the crowd.”

Tim groaned and continued working.

The weekend passed by without anything out of the norm (but how normal can a family of chaotic vigilantes be?). Sure, people were still freaking out about how Tim was ‘fit’, but other than that nothing changed. When he, Steph, Duke, and Damian rocked up for school on Monday, people gave them a lot more attention than usual. Damian snorted at Tim’s attention and slipped away undetected. Duke swiftly walked away leaving Stephanie and Tim alone. When they walked to their first class (which they thankfully had together) people started talking to Tim a lot more than usual.

“So, Tim bet you have all the girls swooning for you now” one of the jocks said. Stephanie and Tim shared a look. She snorted and started battering her eyes at him. He pushed her away playfully and fell off her chair making them both burst into laughter.

“Actually, Stephanie here gets more girls than me” he winked at her. she blushed fiercely and buried her head in her hands.

“Timmmmm” she groaned.

“No I’m never letting you live it down” Tim laughed. The jock from earlier raised an eyebrow.

“What’s she trying to live down?”

Tim looked at him, completely deadpan and said, “She’s dating my sister.” The jock looked like he was confused. “Oh shit, you don’t know” Tim said looking at Steph. Her head made a loud bang as it hit the table. “she’s not the first Wayne Stephanie here has dated. No, Stephanie dated me for a while after my girlfriend of the time broke up with me”

The jock looked confused. “How are you guys friends then? if you dated I mean.”

Now it was Stephanie’s turn to grin. “well, A) he’s hot. B) he’s rich. C) he’s hot. D) his dad pretty much adopted me”

Tim groaned. “Unfortunately what she means is: she is leaching off my family for money, waffles and my sister” Tim translated.

“Right…” He said before turning away to talk to his own friends. Tim swung back in his chair and looked at Steph.

“Why do people suddenly want to talk to me?” he asked her, exasperated.

“Uh ‘cause twitter exposed you for being hot?” Tim groaned.

“Steph, you are my ex, you can’t say that kinda thing”

“Oh? I can’t but your boyfriend can?”

Yes. That’s the entire point” he told her. she let out a huff of air.

“You’re no fun. No wonder we broke up”

Tim flung his hand to his forehead.

“To be betrayed, by ones own friend. Ugh- I will never recover. The world is a cruel place and I-”

Stephanie flung her hand over his mouth before deadpanning “No one needs to hear about your depression, Tim”

They both looked at each other in silence before bursting out laughing.

“Never change Steph”

“Only if you don’t birdboy”

Damian was not having a good time. All people would talk about was Timothy and it was getting on his nerves. During art (one of the only classes that Damian actually liked) he could hear whispering.

psst. Psst Damian” he made eye contact with the person whispering.

“What?”

“Is it true that your brother is like… really fit?”

Damian sighed; he wouldn’t lie. Contrary to what most people believed, Timothy and he actually got on quite well these days. In fact, he was the only sibling (apart from Cassandra) that Damian called by his first name.

“Which brother are you talking about?” he asked. He knew they were talking about Timothy, but the question left a lot of grey area.

“Tim”

“Yes Timothy is ‘fit’. Most of my family is actually” he said, mostly to himself.

“Are you?” someone else asked. That was not what Damian expected. Damian frowned at his art. It was good but it needed some more detail.

“I suppose so.”

“Just wondering since we never really see you do any like sports.”

Damian frowned.

“I don’t participate in school sports. My brothers didn’t either.”

“so you do sports outside of school?”

Damian nodded.

“What sport?”

Damian paused and looked at the girl who asked.

“I fence and do a range of martial arts like my father did and brothers do. My mother taught me some acrobatics which I still practice.” No one spoke for a moment, so Damian looked up. “What?”

“I’ve never heard you speak about your mother” one boy said. “Has she even been to one of your like parent-teacher conferences?”

“No. She doesn’t live in America.” He spoke. why were they asking all these questions? He saw the looks that people shared.

“Why doesn’t she live here?”

Damian put down his pencil.

“My mother brought me here and went back to Pakistan. Back to her father and her siblings and my cousin now can we please drop the subject?” he asked. He didn’t want to keep talking about his mother.

“Why? Don’t you miss your mum?” One girl asked. Damian stared at his work.

“She may be my mother, but she will never have the right to call me her child. Mothers don’t do what my mother did to me. The reason I didn’t try to follow her back to Pakistan was because she was a terrible parent” he finished. Everyone stayed silent. They were all looking at him like he had grown a second head.

“What.. what did she do to you?” someone asked. They sounded concerned.

“It doesn’t matter” he sighed. The whole classroom seemed to stay silent after that. Damian didn’t care.

What he did care about though, was the tweet Jason just posted.

“Shit”

Duke was in PE when it happened. One minute he was playing basketball, the next, freaking out. ‘Why?’ might you ask. Well, it was because of one, single tweet.

ILivedBitches @Taysonjodd

Y’know, for a kid who’s missing a spleen, @TimDrakeWayne still appears healthy.

“You have got to be kidding me” Duke muttered. Almost as soon as the tweet got posted people started coming up to Duke, phone in hand.

“I didn’t know Tim was missing a spleen!”

“What does the spleen even do?”

“Duke did you know about this?!”

“Is he okay?”

Duke was overwhelmed with questions. “Tim is fine! Yes he doesn’t have a spleen but that doesn’t stop him from doing what he would usually do! He just has to take a shit-tone of meds so that he doesn’t die”

Everyone looked at Duke for a moment.

“Do you know how he lost his spleen?” Someone asked.

Fun Fact: he did know. Was he going to tell anyone that? No.

“No. he lost it before I joined the family. Oh hang on wait” he said before opening his phone. There was a message from Tim.

Timmers: cover story is that it was a hostage situation gone wrong

“Oh actually he just texted me. He said that it was a ‘hostage situation gone wrong’ kind of situation”

Everyone turned visibly pale.

“What?”

“He got hurt while being held hostage?!”

“...Yeah? that’s actually pretty normal. Tim and I both have some cool ones, but they usually take one look at Damian and say that the kids been through too much already. Actually there was this one time where the kidnappers were going to stab him in the shoulder. They did and he didn’t flinch, that caused a lot of questions. That was actually how we found out about the who Damian situation” he rambled to himself.

“Damian situation?” one girl, angelica, asked.

“Damian’s mother is a bitch” duke deadpanned. Then he walked away. “He doesn’t like people talking about it so we respect his wishes” Duke called over his shoulder.
