Ronan breaks the silence with a gutting sound, raw and fuckin’ needy. “Hurry.”
It sounds for a second like Declan will cave and give him what he fucking craves, but he makes a point to step hard, flat, on the floor and begin to unshed his jacket and all of his extra fuckin’ layers and his burner phone and his real phone on the table while Ronan’s in darkness. “No,” Declan says. “I told you to wait. It’s you who wanted me in control, and you don’t get to take that back now. So sit, on your knees, eyes closed. Wait.”
Ronan needs it like a fucking lung, but he’s not a beggar. He grinds his teeth until he feels it in his skull and does not beg.
