When they were younger, people had often compared Gansey and Ronan’s relationship to a dog and his master and it had always made Gansey feel somewhat uncomfortable, mostly because it rang so true and he couldn’t help the stab of jealousy he suddenly felt when Adam made the same connection, only this time excluding Gansey from the narrative.

Summary

Trying to hide his supernatural ails and struggling to keep the pieces of his life together enough not to burden his friends, a voice begins to come to him in his sleep, promising a better world for dreamers like him. Movement with freedom. No more nightwash. A world that was shaped for things like him.
The pack graduates from Aglionby and go to begin their lives of college and adulthood, and Kavinsky is left alone to his own devices. Sick of the excuse of a life he's been living, he gives in to the wills of the mysterious dreamer sharing his nights, and discovers he is, for better or worse, much less alone than he believed.
