Summary
One week after the end of the quest for Glendower, Ronan and Adam are navigating the terms of their relationship as an unstable ley line causes mysterious issues for the whole crew. Reckoning with past and present traumas in the wake of Cabeswater, Blue and her Raven Boys find themselves involved in a new quest: a transatlantic art heist for paintings imbued with magical properties that may be able to fix the rouge ley line. The difficulty of stealing from high security internationally renowned institutions however, may be the least of their issues as magic begins to crumble around them, threatening those they love most and Ronan and Adam fundamentally disagree on how to solve the crisis.

When they were younger, people had often compared Gansey and Ronan’s relationship to a dog and his master and it had always made Gansey feel somewhat uncomfortable, mostly because it rang so true and he couldn’t help the stab of jealousy he suddenly felt when Adam made the same connection, only this time excluding Gansey from the narrative.
Gansey gets to know Adam after the drama of the holidays.

The process of getting tree atop car is tetris-style torture. Even with their height, the Ford seems perpetually too tall, and the length of the tree makes the crown hang dangerously across the dash on their first attempt of hoisting. Blue eventually hops out to help direct. Ronan feels like he’s in a stage production playing the role no one else wanted. What’s worse is he can’t be fully mad–not at Mrs. Gansey’s delusions or Gansey’s easy appeasement or Ronan’s love of him-because without them, he wouldn’t have gotten to see Adam’s face twisting with focus, or hear him grunt with effort, or swear low as the tree threatens to roll off the truck’s hood. It’s just a small, under-the-breath fuck, but Ronan’s mind can’t help placing that sound in all different situations. He can’t help wondering what Adam’s arms would look like flexing without so many damned layers on.
Fucking goddamn December. Beautiful, awful December.
Adam is a contract worker getting through the holiday season. Ronan is given a last-minute mission to replace a Christmas tree for the Gansey Family Holiday Gala. They meet in a parking lot.
