Chapter Text
Suisei lay there for ten seconds, she had counted, and tried to shift again. Miko was not letting go of her. Her arm was still solidly over Suisei's waist, her head pillowed on Suisei's shoulder, which couldn't possibly be comfortable. And yet Miko slept like a log, breathing warm onto Suisei's collarbone.
She counted again, this time twenty seconds, for Miko's breathing to slow again from its slightly sped up pace at Suisei's movement. Suisei wouldn't admit it to anyone, but she would indeed feel guilty if she woke Miko up.
Reaching her arm up, she tried to cup Miko's cheek to move her head off her shoulder, but her hand ran through her soft hair. Because of where Miko lay, she could smell her detergent, the shampoo she used, her conditioner and body wash. It was milky sweet, flowers, and it was such a Miko thing that Suisei's body locked up, and she was trapped for another thirty seconds.
Yes, Suisei counted that too.
Miko's head almost bobbed at the peripheral of her vision from Suisei's chest rising and falling, Suisei unable to move her neck for decidedly not fear of waking Miko up. Her hair fell over her eyes a little, and Suisei found herself brushing it off for her, fingers delicately tracing over the line of her brow, the curve of her cheekbone.
This was another ten seconds wasted.
But Miko's nose wrinkled at the touch, and she made a weak snuffling sound as she shifted a little bit more, lips parted slightly as she ducked her head deeper into the crook of Suisei's neck. And then she was completely lost, enraptured, because the entire geography of Miko's body shifted with just a simply touch from Suisei, and the urge to map them all out possessed her like lightning.
Her body curved around Suisei's sharp one, angles meeting slopes, her brightly painted nails standing out from Suisei's bare bicep. She was wearing Suisei's clothes because of course she was, the little minx always smiling and babbling about her day as soon as she walked through Suisei's door uninvited, picking Suisei up like a comet in a planet's orbit and jerking her around, leaving her flailing and stumbling around Miko's gravitational pull.
Her grin, infectious, her laughter, loud and unapologetic. She would watch Suisei play a game and would cheer her on no matter what she did. Suisei would have to move for her, a landscape for Miko's unwavering river, because Miko would pillow her head on her lap, and Suisei would just have to deal with it.
Hoshimachi Suisei did not deal.
Sakura Miko would brush her lips against her cheek, take every threat and tease Suisei gave her with an outraged squeal and smile, and all of a sudden Suisei did not mind dealing.
Suisei blinked. She had lost count of the seconds, and Miko had moved again to throw a leg over her waist, holding her tighter, somehow making space for both of them on the couch.
Somehow, Miko made space for herself in Suisei, without Suisei knowing, without Suisei minding that much.
Her eyes fluttered shut. Miko mumbled something into her jaw, lips soft, breath not smelling that great. This was a secret that she would take to her grave. Suisei stopped counting, and let herself go soft in Miko's embrace.
