PotC Fanart Collection

Summary:

A collection of the portion of PiraticalPersona's Pirates of the Caribbean fanart that features the characters in almost entirely non-romantic situations, portraits and/or more complicated full cast scenes where the shipping content is pretty innocuous. I'll create a separate collection for my romantic art.

Some goofy memes are mixed in with "serious" art pieces. May or may not mix in some sketch dumps while I'm at it.

Chapter 1: At World's End 15th Anniversary

Summary:

I drew this piece as a personal commemoration of the the 15th anniversary of At World's End. I worked a little bit of symbolism into it, but mostly I just wanted something I thought could end up a cool alternative movie poster in a world where PotC got the steelbook collectors cover treatment.

Chapter Text

A mirrored image with the major players on both sides of the main conflict of At World's End arranged in formations on top and bottom. On top: Tia Dalma/Calypso, Will Turner, Jack Sparrow and Hector Barbossa are led by Elizabeth Swann in the center, with her sword drawn and framed by a golden sun behind her head. On bottom: Davy Jones, James Norrington, Weatherby Swann and Ian Mercer are led by Cutler Beckett. Jones has some tentacles almost wrapping Beckett's shoulder and neck, with the one about Beckett's neck curling around the key to the Dead Man's Chest. Beckett uses two fingers from his left hand to block Jones' tentacle from curling completely around his neck or the key. Dividing the two teams is a version of the navigational charts to the land of the dead, laid out before Beckett. It is covered by a raging whirlpool with small versions of the Flying Dutchman and Black Pearl firing at one another. The eye of the whirlpool exposes the drawing very center of the charts.

Chapter 2: Holiday Aboard the Black Pearl

Summary:

Just a fun idea I had for a canon-divergent celebration aboard the Black Pearl over Christmas break.

Chapter Text

The crew of the Black Pearl throw a Christmas party 10 years after At World's End. They've created a "Christmas Tree" shaped chandelier out of candles burning inside empty rum bottles, and are reveling to the music of a flute and fiddle. Above, Jack sits on the table in front of the Black Pearl's helm and waves his hands with a bottle of rum in excitement at the action going on in front of him. Anamaria slides down the rail to the main deck. Barbossa watches quietly from behind Jack, with his monkey on his shoulder. The party on the main deck. Bootstrap Bill tries to keep Henry occupied with the rum bottle Christmas tree chandelier, but his ten year old grandson, Henry, is distracted--and slightly mortified--by his parents, Will and Elizabeth, kissing under the mistletoe near the captain's cabin doors. Cotton and Marty dance together on the other side of the chandelier. Near the rail, Scarlett, Giselle and Gibbs cheer on the dancing and debate joining in. All the way aft, Ragetti and Pintel scheme to ring the ship's bell.

Chapter 3: Pir-ettes of the Caribbean

Summary:

Inspired by events in my upcoming fancomic. Working on the alt image info.

Chapter 4: Willianetta

Summary:

So this one has a backstory. Beemovieerotica said one day that he wanted art of Will in a Bayonetta-ish pose with his "waist snatched" and ass/tits out. I happened to see the request, had an hour to kill, and decided to respond. I'm not sure it EXACTLY nails the brief, but I think it's fun. In fact, somehow it ended up being a drawing I genuinely love!

Chapter Text

Will Turner, floating with his hands behind his head and a serene expression. His chest is turned towards the audience while his hips are turned so his butt it's profile, reminescent of "ass and tits" shots that women are sometimes put in. Coloring is soft and fuzzy.

Chapter 5: The Governor's Daughter

Summary:

This was the first complete Pirates of the Caribbean piece I ever did, towards the beginning of 2020 lockdowns. I started it after visiting the Disney parks in Tokyo over the previous summer, where they have a fantastic seasonal event called Pirates Get Wet! But like all the other Disney Parks, while Jack and Barbossa (who I love!) are represented in the show and merchandise, other characters like Elizabeth and Will are not. It spurred me to start drawing Pirates fanart so I could put out art for characters who don't get as much attention from Disney.

I started with Elizabeth, because she's the protagonist of the trilogy's story and I wanted to give her the honor first.

Chapter 6: Son of a Pirate

Summary:

This is another favorite of mine, because of the symbolism I've worked into a lot of it. For some reason it doesn't seem to resonate with people as much, but I hope some of you like it!

Chapter 9: An Ill-Conceived Escape Attempt

Summary:

I... draw a lot of Will Turner, partially for Will Turner Wednesdays and partially because I feel like he's under represented in the fandom. So get ready to see a lot of him in here! Not sorry 😂

Chapter 19: Sharing is Caring

Summary:

Experimented with AI assisted coloring--NOT the kind that uses other artists' work! I never touch those generators and am against them. It's a kind of assisted coloring that uses my own coloring on a dedicated layer as a reference for filling in my lineart layer, in Clip Studio. Anyway turns out I don't like it, because it makes things muddy. But it was a fun experiment anyway.

Chapter 21: Elizabeth Sketch Dump 1

Summary:

I draw a lot of Elizabeth too, but a lot of it is still being saved for later 👀 In this set I just felt like putting some quick things together because there's almost no Elizabeth art on Pixiv and AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH no

Chapter 22: The Swan

Chapter 25: Motley Crew Sketches

Summary:

The Mister Cotton drawing is one of my favorite things I've ever sketched. Just .... yeah I love it. Ragetti was a response to the prompt "flower." The third one comes from a line in one of the PotC books, written as a guide by Mister Gibbs. He has a comment in one of the margins that a crew member can bring their swords to Will for any issues they have and he'll fix them up for them. I always thought that was a cute idea.

The last one, is another favorite. I just love Mister Gibbs telling stories to Elizabeth on the Dauntless, and definitely think those stories continued until they made port.

Chapter 27: Pirate King

Chapter Text

A colored bust drawing of Elizabeth Swann-Turner in a black tricorn, and a red waistcoat worn over her white pirate shirt. Her hands are perched over a basket hilt cutlass and she has a jolly roger draped over her shoulders.

Chapter 28: Will Still Has to Work

Chapter Text

Black and white manga style drawing of a post-At World's End Will scowling while he says, "I'm literally undergoing a transformation into something unspeakably horrifying and I still have to go into work."

The exact same image as above, except now Will has some visible transformation: he has coral and barnacles growing on his face and neck, and shark features coming in. His teeth are turning into shark teeth, he has one eye growing black, a shark fin is starting to emerge from one shoulder, and a remora is beginning to emerge on his chest.

Chapter 29: I Saw Him in a Dream

Summary:

This is an illustration of a part of beemovieerotica's fic It is, it is a glorious thing, to be a pirate king, lowkey broke my heart. I don't want to give too much away, but I recommend giving it a peek.

Chapter 32: Curse of the Black Pearl - 20th Anniversary

Summary:

Three pieces I drew last year for the Bring Me That Horizon Curse of the Black Pearl 20th Anniversary fanzine! Super happy to finally be allowed to post them!

Chapter Text

A commemorative "poster" for Curse of the Black Pearl, featuring Elizabeth, Will, Jack, Norrington and Barbossa. There are many details and components, but the focus of the piece involves Jack standing at the apex of a triangle formation completed by Will and Elizabeth at the bottom corners. The sides of the triangle is shaped Will and Elizabeth propping a sword and musket on their shoulders, for the base, Will reaches towards Elizabeth with his outstretched, cut hand, with lines of blood falling into the sea water surrounding them. Elizabeth's left fingers touch Wills, sealing their connection. A noose dangles from Jack's hand down the center of their triangle formation, through Elizabeth's right hand, and dips into a reflection of the moon, mixed with Will's blood. The reflection of the moon mirrors the sun at the top of the poster. In the upper corners of the poster, Barbossa and Norrington mirror each other in a 'face off' over their respective flagships and banners. Barbossa holds up an apple, Norrington holds up Jack's compass. The aztec medallion sits at the very center of everything, including the triangle formed by the main trio.

Elizabeth Swann brandishes a loaded musket aboard the foggy deck of the Interceptor, during the Black Pearl's attack.

Will Turner swims through the tunnels of Isla de Muerte, on his way to rescue Elizabeth from Barbossa's blood sacrifice ceremony.
