PitFalls

Summary:

Dimensional travel, while not uncommon with the Pines family, wasn't something they necessarily wanted to seek out given their history. But of course, it was just his luck that Mike ended up getting sent to another universe with no easy way home. He'd just have to do his best to lay low as he waited for his family to come and get him. Easier said than done.

(A side story that crosses over with Pixlokits's into the ball pit comic world.)

Chapter 1: Blink and You're Gone

Chapter Text

Gravity Falls is a small little town that isn't even on most maps. Visitors that travel through remark it's a pretty little place with charming, if a little odd, people with a few local tourist destinations but overall nothing overly remarkable. Those that live there know better. They know it's a place full of creatures and things everyone else would call strange and fantastical. To them, it was all part of what made their unique and their home and most were fine with just coexisting with their more magical residents and living within their various territories. There was one family though, that actively seemed out the more supernatural side of the town to learn more about the wonders that existed just in their backyard.

"Please be careful with that antenna Stanly," Ford scolded, looking up from where he was putting together some sort of monitor. "It needs to be precisely angled to properly connect with the other stabilizers we've set up around the area!"

"Yeah, yeah, I listened to your lecture multiply times already," Stan waved off Ford's concern before properly adjusting the antenna. "See! Your gizmo is properly in place and I didn't break it! I thought you learned to have more faith in me after everything by now."

"I do Stan, you know that," Ford quickly assured before sighing. "I'm just a little stressed right now as the consequences of a mistake could be disastrous right now. I… I don't want anyone to get trapped in the multiverse again…"

"Not going to happen!" Stan replied with conviction. "We're being careful and isn't that the point of all this? To make sure no one accidentally falls through a portal or rift or whatever? You're the smartest nerd in the whole world, no, the multiverse! You've got this Sixer!"

"Besides, we're here to help this time if something goes wrong," an eighteen-year-old Dipper said, adjusting his glasses as he connected a few wires. "We have plenty of experience with handling all sorts of disasters by now, we can handle anything."

"Now I'm sure you just jinxed Dipper," Mike grumbled as he used wires to swing down from the tree he had been, landing easily by the rest of his family. "The last stabilizer is in place and is ready to be activated."

"Excellent," Ford, smiled in relief. "We should have this control centered put together in a few minutes and we'll have the strengthening signal up in no time."

"This is the BEST MISSION EVER!" Mabel squealed underneath a pile of excited puppy-looking creatures. "Please tell me these adorable things are common across the multiverse! Every dimension deserves to have them!"

"It's hard to say," Ford chuckled at Mabel's antics. "Blink Dogs' ability to teleport in and out between different dimensions makes it hard to know just how many are actually native to certain universes. It doesn't help that they seem to rotate between several dimensions as they're breeding grounds every year. I wasn't even aware that Gravity Falls was home to a pack until they all started showing up at the start of the summer. And with the litters getting old enough to start developing powers of their own soon, we need to make sure the dimensional barriers don't get completely torn apart as they're still pretty weak after…"

Ford didn't need to say Wierdmageddon for them to all know that was what he was referring to. While the mayor and police have gotten a lot less strict about forbidding everyone to talk about it over the years, it still wasn't something anyone liked talking about so casually. Even with all the time and healing everyone had, there was still an underlying fear that talking too much about it can bring that nightmare back into reality.

"Well, the last thing I want is to have to turn the Shack into a robot to fight against invaders again. I was lucky I didn't have to spend a lot of money converting it back to normal, but I don't trust my luck enough for a repeat," Stan joked, immediately breaking the tension as everyone laughed. "So let's get this machine up and running before I risk wasting a fortune on repairs."

"It should be ready now," Ford agreed, he and Dipper rising to their feet. "I'll begin the startup sequence, though it'll probably take a minute or two for it to adjust to the perfect frequency."

Ford typed away at the control panel and the machine came to life, emitting a high-pitched tone that caused all the humans to wince that thankfully only lasted a second or two before it went out of their hearing range. They didn't have too much time to relax though before all the Blink Dogs began to trowel and whine, shaking their heads as if they were hearing something and getting aggressive because of it.

"Turn it off Sixer!" Stan shouted in worry as several started stalking towards Mabel as she was still near the puppies.

"It'll be out of they're hearing range in a few moments!" Ford said, tapping furiously. "They'll be back to normal after that!"

But Mike was already moving as he could see one of the Blink Dogs preparing to attack. He got to Mabel just as the dog attacked, pushing her out of the and letting the dog slam into him instead. The dog blinked away a second later as Mike was sent falling backward, only to realize he was falling far deeper than he should be. He heard his family calling his name in worry just before the forest around him vanished. Mike barely had time to register what happened before he found himself sinking into what seemed like a bunch of plastic balls before he finally came to a stop.

"Just my luck," Mike grumbled, sitting up in the ball pit he had apparently been teleported into. "Maybe it's the entire multiverse, not just my dimension, that's out to get me."

Mike stood up and looked around the darkened building, the night vision in his animatronic eye let him see easily. He frowned as he realized the place seemed very familiar, and not in a good way.

"Oh, you've got to be kidding me," Mike groaned with a scowl, itching to pull out his lighter and burn this place to the ground once he realized where he was.

Because of course, he'd get sent to the original Fazbear Pizzeria.
