Work Text:
It was Akito and Tsukasa's 5th day in their new apartment.
The early morning sun streamed in through the bedroom window, striking Akito's eyes and waking him up far too early for his taste.
He refused to open his eyes yet, wanting to stay in bed a bit longer. He shivered from the cold air in the room, and reached his hands out towards the familiar warm body that should've been in the bed with him.
...But it wasn't. That's when he finally opened his eyes, confused as to why Tsukasa wasn't in bed anymore. The blanket had been moved to completely cover Akito, and Tsukasa's spot was empty.
Akito sighed softly at the absence of his boyfriend. Though he wouldn't say it out loud, he really loved the feeling of waking up next to him, with his head on his chest, arms wrapped around each other...
Ah. He was smiling like an idiot to himself just thinking about it, wasn't he? He needed to snap out of it and get out of bed.
He let out an annoyed groan as he did so, pushing the blanket off of himself and standing up, stretching and cracking his back for a moment. The cold air hit him once again and he shivered, so his next task was to find something to help him warm up.
His eyes landed on one of Tsukasa's sweaters laying on a nearby still-packed box- one of Akito's, since Tsukasa had already unpacked all of his- and he picked it up, slipping it on and ignoring how wearing Tsukasa's clothes still made him blush so much.
His next task was to, of course, find out where his boyfriend went. He made his way over to the door, and when he opened it, he was suddenly hit with the sweet scent of pancakes, and he felt himself wake up a little more.
The next thing he noticed was the sight in front of him. Tsukasa was standing in the kitchen, peacefully cooking and humming to himself while the morning light hit him just right. He looked almost ethereal, in Akito's completely unbiased opinion.
Akito was frozen for a moment, before his body seemed to move on its own, walking over to Tsukasa and wrapping his arms around his waist like it was something they did every morning.
Tsukasa didn't seem startled or surprised at all, chuckling lightly before saying, "Good morning, Akito!"
Akito put his head against Tsukasa's back. "Mornin'," he mumbled, smiling a little. "You didn't have to get up and cook so early."
"I wanted to give you breakfast in bed. I thought it would be a nice way to start the day. We have a lot to do today, after all."
Akito hummed. "...breakfast in bed, huh? Maybe I should've stayed put."
His lovely, shining boyfriend laughed brightly, and it sounded like music to his ears. "I'll try again tomorrow," Tsukasa said with a smile. "These are just about done. Do you want all your usual toppings?"
"Mhm."
"...You'll have to let go of my waist soon, unfortunately," Tsukasa's voice was laced with genuine disappointment. Akito was just as disappointed.
"Fine. But only because those pancakes smell really good." Akito held on for just a minute more, then let go, watching as Tsukasa plated the pancakes and covered them in whipped cream and berries, just how he liked them.
"Go sit down, I'll make my own plate and join you in just a moment, alright?"
Akito didn't protest, taking his plate and a fork and then walking into their living room, which was...pretty much unfurnished, something they would be fixing later that day. He sat down on one of the two folding camping chairs that they were using as temporary furniture. He quickly dug into his pancakes. Tsukasa sat with him a few moments later.
The two ate their breakfast in calm, comfortable silence. Tsukasa kept looking over at Akito and smiling, admiring that cute expression that Akito always had when he ate sweets. When Akito finally noticed he was looking at him, his face turned bright red.
Tsukasa laughed and leaned over, kissing Akito on the cheek, flustering him even further.
On that peaceful morning, the two of them just enjoyed each other's presence, taking their time to be happy and calm before moving forward to the day's tasks. That domestic bliss was something they'd continue to relish for years to come, glad to be together in their home.
