Work Text:

This was, undoubtedly, one of the best days of Akito's life.

Years of hard work led up to this. After so much time and effort, Vivid BAD SQUAD had finally put on an event that surpassed RAD WEEKEND.

Akito stood on stage in front of the biggest crowd he'd ever seen, singing his heart out like it was the easiest thing to do. The audience had screamed for an encore from all the participating singers over and over again. The event had gone on for much longer than expected, stretching well into the night. The exhaustion that Akito would inevitably feel hadn't set in yet, and he was reveling in the feeling of his dream coming true.

The event did unfortunately have to end eventually, despite the audience's screams for more. If the performers didn't stop, they'd probably be pushed well past their limits, and obviously no one wanted anyone to get hurt. So, after hours of extra performances, the event finally came to a close, all the participants taking their last few moments in the spotlight and saying goodbye to the audience.

Backstage, everyone was still full of energy, all complimenting each other's performances. Akito had slung an arm around Toya, thanking him for sticking by his side all this time. The energy in the air was making him slightly more sappy than he'd ever usually let himself be. He thanked An and Kohane too, smiling as they laughed and cheered. The four of them would eventually have a proper celebration, but for now they needed to clean up and go home.

Off to the side, Akito's wonderful boyfriend, Tsukasa, was patiently waiting for him with a fond smile on his face. When Akito finally noticed him, his body moved before he could really react, speed-walking over to him and throwing his arms around him. Normally he wasn't really one for PDA, but this was a special occasion.

Tsukasa pulled Akito in close, reaching his hand up to play with Akito's hair a little. "That was incredible! I'm so proud of you!" He exclaimed, trying to keep his voice down but still being loud despite his efforts.

"Thank you for coming. I hope the crowd wasn't too rowdy for you." Akito backed away from their hug but still kept his hands on Tsukasa's shoulders, cracking a grin at him.

"No, it was amazing, Akito! I wouldn't have missed this for the world. The way you and all the other performers get the audience going is like magic. The energy was wonderful." Tsukasa's eyes sparkled with excitement, and he smiled when Akito's cheeks started to flush because of the praise.

Akito pulled him in for a kiss, forgetting for a moment that they were in a room with plenty of other people, until he heard An fake gagging from behind him. He quickly got out of the kiss, whipped around, and flipped her off. The room erupted into laughter.

As it died down, Akito turned back around and smiled at Tsukasa. "I've gotta help clean up a bit before I leave. You can wait for me in the car."

"Nonsense!" Tsukasa shook his head. "Let me help!"

"You really don't have to."

"I want to, Akito. You've already done so much today."

"..Alright, fine. C'mon."

The two of them, along with everybody else, started cleaning and getting things back to how they should be. About a half an hour later, Tsukasa and Akito found themselves standing on the stage, looking out at the empty audience.

The moon was shining down on them, the sky clear and full of stars. The peaceful quiet was very different from the deafening music and screams that had been going on earlier that night.

Akito stared out into the emptiness, smiling to himself. "I can't believe we finally did it..." He trailed off, and while he was mostly talking to himself, he expected Tsukasa to respond. When he didn't, Akito turned to face him and his eyes widened at the sight in front of him.

Tsukasa was down on one knee, holding a small box in one hand. Akito was incredibly confused. "Tsukasa, wh-"

"Akito, I...this wasn't how I originally planned to do this. I was planning a special date where I'd ask you this at the end, but I don't think there will be a moment more special than this. Hopefully this doesn't overshadow the memory of this event for you, but I need to say this now.

We've been together for quite some time now. Every day with you is such a blessing. Having the privilege to watch you achieve your dream has been amazing, and I know you'll continue to do incredible things. I want to be by your side for all of it. I want nothing more than to spend my life with you as we both reach for the stars."

Tsukasa took a deep breath, opening the box to reveal a beautiful ring, and finally speaking his question, "All of this is to say...Shinonome Akito, my dear, my love, will you marry me?"

It took a lot of willpower for Akito to keep his jaw from dropping. He was shocked silent. It was taking him a bit of time to process the words that came from Tsukasa's mouth. Too much time, if the worried look in Tsukasa's eyes was anything to go by.

When Akito finally got the courage to speak, his voice was shaky. "Tsukasa...you're ridiculous."

"Is- is that a yes?" Tsukasa asked with a wobbly smile.

Akito mirrored the unsteady smile, grinning wide. "Yes, idiot, of course I'll marry you."

With that, Tsukasa sprung to his feet and wrapped his arms around Akito. "Oh, thank goodness, I thought you were going to say no."

Akito put his face against Tsukasa's shoulder, his voice still shaky. "Are you kidding? Why the hell would I say no?"

"I don't know!" Tsukasa laughed a little, tightening his hold on his fiancé. "You were just so silent I thought you might have been thinking about how to let me down gently."

"You know me better than that."

The two then were quiet for a moment as they separated, briefly, so Tsukasa could put the ring on Akito's finger. Then they jumped as they heard cheering from nearby.

An, Kohane, and Toya all stood on the side of the stage. An was whooping and hollering, Kohane was tearing up a little, and Toya was just watching with a soft smile.

Akito turned completely red. "Oi! How long have you guys been standing there for?!"

Ignoring the question, An grinned. "I was wondering when you two were finally gonna do this! Let's see the ring!" She walked over, grabbing Akito's hand and looking at it. The other two followed. "Ooo, must've been expensive, huh, Tsukasa?"

Tsukasa laughed proudly. "Only the best for my darling Akito!"

Akito's blush turned an even deeper red. "Hey! You didn't answer me!"

Everybody laughed except for him. Toya took mercy on Akito and answered him, "We saw almost the entire proposal. Kohane even got a picture."

Tsukasa gasped. "Really? Let me see!"

The five of them- well, mostly the four of them, since Akito was just embarrassed by it all- gushed over the proposal for a while, until finally it was time to go home.

The drive home was peaceful for Akito and Tsukasa. Once they finally walked through their apartment door, the exhaustion finally hit Akito, and he felt like he was going to fall asleep on their doormat.

Tsukasa helped him to the bedroom, then insisted he get changed into pajamas despite his complaints of just wanting to sleep.

Once they were both changed, they settled into bed, wrapping their arms around each other and getting as close as they could be. Tsukasa ran his hand through Akito's hair, then kissed the top of his head.

"I love you, Tsukasa." Akito murmured sleepily, nestling into Tsukasa's chest.

"I love you too, Akito."

Those words were the last ones spoken as they both drifted off to sleep, happy and at peace as they knew they'd be together for years to come.
