Work Text:
“Please?” Buck tried to look tinier than he actually was, which was both ridiculous and adorable at the same time. He blinked a few times while staring, trying to make his eyes look like a kicked puppy.
“Those eyes won’t work on me this time.” It was a lie. Eddie knew it and so did Buck.
Eddie kissed his boyfriend’s cheek gently, as his thumb caressed the other man’s jaw before whispering in his ear.
“I love you and I know that you just want to make Christopher happy, but it’s too much.”
Eddie moved after that to start clearing up the table, it was their turn to do it and wash the dishes. Cap didn’t even blink when Buck offered to help Eddie with it. I was part of who they were even before they had decided to start dating.
It had been scary, but mostly nothing changed except that now he could kiss and touch his best friend as he had always thought.
It didn’t take long for Buck to be in front of him again with those eyes. Christopher had also learned how to do them, they both knew it was the easiest way to make Eddie cave. Thankfully both of them only used it with a good reason, it was mostly why Eddie always said yes.
Buck, though only used it for asking something for Chris. He would never do it for himself.
“What if I told you that I already bought the tickets?”
Eddie knew that what Buck was saying wasn’t true, he would never go behind his back. He would always check first with Eddie to make sure they both agreed and even with small things Eddie knew that Buck could decide for himself.
“You haven’t.” Eddie was already saying yes to it, they both knew it. “It’s too expensive, Buck.”
Eddie sighed, leaning against the counter, his hands gripping the edge of it as Buck came closer to him and settle his hands on Eddie’s hips. Thankfully it was already late and it was just them at the loft. The other had gone to the bunkers to try and get some rest.
“It’s Disney. Of course, it’s expensive. That is why I want to offer it. It’s Christopher’s birthday, I even made sure with Bobby that we could take a few days off.”
Eddie wasn’t even surprised that Buck had everything planned already, just in case of Eddie said yes to it.
“He is a teenager, I don’t know if he still wants to go.” Christopher had been asking for more independence and it was hard to give that to him, but Eddie was still trying.
“I know he wants to. Even adults love Disney.” By the grin on Buck’s lips, it was obvious that he was also excited about this trip.
“Fine.” Eddie agreed. He would do anything for both Christopher and Buck to be happy. If there was anyone in the world who deserved it, it was them. “But only this time. We are a couple now, Buck.” They have been for one year now. “Next time we plan it together and share the expenses.”
Buck started to skip away after pecking his lips, phone already in hand as he got everything ready for their trip. The smile on the younger man’s lips made it all worth it, to see him this happy? Happy to give Eddie’s kid an unforgettable trip? It was worth saying all the yes in the world.
The days until their trip had gone fast, everything going according to plan. They had the most fun. Buck and Christopher both wearing Mickey’s hats with ears were so adorable that Eddie wasn’t able to stop himself from taking a photo and sending it to their 118 whatapp group.
But something didn’t go according to plan, at least not the plans that Eddie knew about.
Buck had stopped them near a fountain, it was getting dark and the park was starting to lit up their lights making the environment around them become a bit more romantic than Eddie ever thought it was possible in a park like this one.
Christopher grinned at his father before looking at Buck and nodding. They had been definitely plotting behind Eddie’s back on something.
Before Eddie could question anything, Buck stood in front of him and reached for his pocket before getting down on one knee.
Eddie’s heart felt like it would rip his chest open and jump out of it.
Was he dreaming?
It was impossible for him to dream about something like this. Not with Buck proposing to him at Disney while wearing Mickey Mousse hat with ears.
Buck’s smile was wide as it reached his eyes, he slowly opened the velvet box to reveal a simple black ring. Eddie knew that a few people had stopped to watch it, but he wouldn’t be surprised to find a video later on social media.
“Edmundo…” Buck smirked as Eddie’s first name came out of his mouth. “I asked for Chris’ blessing first so.”
“Yes.” It was tiny and small, but it was a word that Eddie would always have ready on the tip of his tongue to answer Buck.
“You don’t know what I am going to ask you.” Buck seemed impossibly calm for someone that was proposing, but Eddie could see a bit of nervousness in his blue eyes along with the sweat starting to form on his forehead.
“Evan.” Eddie smirked as he wrapped his hand around Buck’s wrist, the one where he was holding up the box, and pulled the other man back to his feet. “Yes. To everything you ever want to give me.”
With that Eddie finally kissed his boyfriend- no- his fiancee in the middle of a Disney park with a bunch of strangers clapping for them.
But Eddie’s whole world was right there, Christopher and Buck, officially becoming a family.
